I'm 5ft 5 and lost 80+lbs. I've maintained my weight now for the past 9 months (I fluctuate about 4-5lbs over those 9 months but have found it fairly easy to keep on track). Although I'm only just at a healthy BMI I don't intend to lose anymore weight namely as it just doesn't look great on me being slimmer than I am (I'm quite broad). If this helps anyone with motivation than I'm more than happy to share. I know these kind of before and after pics helped me when I started - Mel

Thank you to all who have posted...and to the person who started this thread. It is really motivating to see so many people striving for better health. I'm not ready for a photo update yet...but I'm 49 yrs old and 5'3-4 depending on the day, lol. Started back to MFP on Jan. 15th'ish, and today - I just hit my lowest point in 6 yrs - 17 lbs down. Overall goal will be to lose 150 lbs. EOY 1 goal will be to hit 40 lbs lost. I have to lose weight slowly thanks to a medical issue. So, my journey will be a slow one...but I'm determined to live the life of someone who values her health over quick fixes from now on. To all still working...you are not alone...and keep up the good work! To all in maintenance...truly fantastic...keep up the good work!16

50.6 lbs lost. Currently 128 and 5'4.
First picture is summer 2010 and second is July 1, 2014. Of the 50 lbs, 40 lbs were lost in the last 17 months with the help of crossfit, paleo-ish diet eating, and running.
Sometimes i wonder if i could even possibly dream of a body like this...25 -
Finally hit goal weight #2: 130 lbs
It took 10 months to lose 30 lbs, and my ultimate goal is 120 lbs.
The last 10 may be a little harder, but I'm ready!35 -

I am always curious about the number of calories people eat per day. Many people who post say they logged food and that really helped with weight loss but noone says about how many calories per day worked for them. I realize it is different for everyone- I'm just curious. Thank you for any insight you can provide!6

About halfway done, and feeling kinda discouraged bc I’m up 10 lbs from last year due to quitting smoking and have been stuck for a while. My highest at 240 in May 2018 and today 193

You look great! Congrats on all you have already done. The set back is just temporary - go back to logging and try to look at what you did to get you towards your goal. One lb at a time. Stay strong.6

I think you look "onederful"...3

Great Job!!! You look Amazing. Did you do weights you look really toned, you are an inspiration to me, how long did it take you to reach your goal?
Thank you so much!! I did A LOT of strength training along with my cardio. It took me about 2.5 years to lose the weight. Though that is a long time to get to my goal, it helped minimize loose skin for me.
I now do only 30 mins of cardio 3 x’s a week and mainly focus on strength training.
Best way to do- well done!2 -

Congrats on your success!! I love the before and after pic in the same shirt. I also love that 95% of process was diet/calorie based. I am striving for the similar results. I struggle with the exercise part of it because I find it boring. My stats are the same as yours too. Starting weight 214, goal weight 140 and I am 5'4". Thanks for the inspiration!!8 -
I am 5'4.5" exactly! I've gained most of the weight back during quarantine, but I'm using these pictures as motivation myself to get back down!
Before pictures are me between 165-169 lbs. After pictures I am 145 lbs!

Calorie intake depends on activity levels and NEAT (non exercise activity thermogenesis)....so the more active you are and especially if you do heavy weight lifting or resistance training, then potentially the more calories you can eat per day....here is my story in numbers...my goal weight is 140 lbs. I started out at 195.4 lbs in 2012. I am five foot five. I am 46 years old. I am a strongwoman athlete and do mainly heavy compound lifts (barbell), mixed with bodybuilding accessories and conditioning circuit finishers. I train three/four times per week in the gym. Sessions are 60 mins long. I cycle 15 miles a day on an electric bicycle (not on full power, set between quarter and half) to and from work. I cycle 10 miles when I commute to and from the gym. At the moment I eat 2002 calories per day, I weigh in at 155.4 lbs. I started off on 1945 calories per day when I was 173 lbs last year in June. Lowest calories per day was 1700. And I was miserable and feeling hungry.
It is variable and different for everyone. We all have different diets, exercise programmes and macro splits. And I am assuming our personal metabolisms play a part?4
