Various organs shutting down to completing first half marathon! I’m also signed up to do my first Spartan Race this fall.
Thank you so much. In a nutshell, I was very sick about three and a half years ago. The kinds of mystery illnesses even the specialists couldn’t diagnose. I went through 18 mos of intense medical testing (cancer several times, blood disorders, auto immune disorders, rare and bizarre disorders, thyroid issues, GI issues, kidney/liver failure, and a bunch of other), I mangled my leg randomly, started having unexplained seizures, and even had to have emergency surgery to remove a dead organ. It was all surreal during this time. No one could explain to me why my body was shutting down. I decided to get healthy in an attempt to save myself a little from all my medical problems. I set out on this journey, made small changes at first (like eating less and moving more!), and as the inches and pounds started coming off, I started to feel better.
Eventually I didn’t have to meet with the specialists anymore because I’ve made full recoveries from alllll the probs I was having.
I rehabbed my leg over two long years and I decided I would try to train for a 5K. I fell in love with running and completed my first half later that year! I added weights into my workouts because I want to get stronger and because I’m just ready for the next challenge!
Honestly, I’m just taking it day by day. I try to plan my meals/snacks and make time for my workouts each week but I also don’t beat myself up when I take a step behind and fail. Not sure whether that’s any good for a tip, but try to embrace the adventure you are on. I took a lot of progress pics. I eat the foods I enjoy and make it work within my calories. I do activities I find fun and it’s easier to stick with it. And I take rest days and recharge days where I eat at maintenance to give my body a reboot.
Good luck on your journey! You got this.21 -

Update: I have gained a little back, but this is where I am currently at. Actively trying to take some of the fat I put on back off.

I'm 5'5 exactly!!
March, 34.5% body fat, 161 lbs
Today September 21%, 124 lbs
My goal was 130 but wanted to get a bit less since I knew I could. I'm going to bulk up after my vacation so I"m interested to see what that will be like. Never done really good muscle building so I'm excited.
It's possible!

I'm 5' 5.5" and I started at 260 lbs on January 11th, 2017. I lost more than 100 lbs in 8 months and 4 days. I started maintenance on September 15, 2017. So just a few more days and I will be a year in maintenance and I have kept it all off. From size 3xl to mediums and tight 22's and some 24's waist to overall size 9's but some 7's and even a couple of 5's.

Started this new lifestyle February 2014. Lost around 50 lbs and 50 inches. 5'3" and 155 today (SW was 205). On June 26th, I had a tummy tuck to remove the excess skin. I didn't realize how much that skin still made me feel fat until I had it removed.
