Hey! I'm 5'1" and I started out at 310 pounds and I'm now down to 187 pounds. I did have the gastric sleeve surgery back in September 2018 so that helped a lot and I'm not eating much like I used to (probably around 500 to 1,000 calories a day). My goal weight is around 170 pounds. I don't want to get too skinny and plus I love my curves and I enjoy lifting weights. By the way, I would suggest using YouTube trainer Sydney Cummings as her workouts are free. She's awesome and she's extremely inspirational and I've been using her since my surgery and she has molded me to really take care of and have fun during my fitness journey!

Hi, I'm 5'3 (and a half) and restarted a weightloss journey just over seven weeks ago. I've gone from 158.2lbs to 143.5lbs. My goal is about 120-125lbs. I have gone back to what worked for me before - Jillian Michaels Body Revolution and fasting. This time I am vlogging it to keep myself accountable because I tended to start the program again and only end up doing two or three of the workouts each week.

I'm so OVERJOYED! After 2 years and 8 months of hard work, I have met my ultimate weight loss goal!!!!!
SW: 147.4 GW: 115 UGW: 110 CW: 109.2
Overall Loss from Nov 2017 to July 2020: 38.2 lbs
I started this journey for the 3rd time on Nov 2017. I had enough of the way I looked. I slowly lost 7 lbs, got in a relationship, gained the lbs back, my bf (now husband 😍) decided to join me in the weight loss journey and we joined a gym in Nov 2018. I weighed 145 at the time.
We went to the gym consistently and it did help me get down to 136. Then I got serious about my calorie counting in July 2019. I knew it worked in the past. I just needed to stop being lazy about it. I've tracked daily with MFP and weighed in daily since July 2019. I'm also tracking my measurements (waist, neck, hips) every week.
Throughout out the journey, I've learned that I love developing muscles. I've started to see definition in my legs, back and arms and I fricking LOVE it!!! (I have a tiny bit of definition in my stomach.) I try to workout 2 to 5 times a week for 20 to 30 mins with 3 or 5 lb dumbbells. [Working on finding 8 lb dumbbells to start progressive lifting] We also try to hit 10k steps and drink 8 cups of water daily. I have found how helpful a proper amount of sleep can be with weight loss, 7+ hours. My Fitbit Charge HR 2 has been a great help with calorie burn, tracking steps, resting HR and sleep. Hoping to get a Charge 4, if my Charge 2 ever stops working, lol.
I'm eating better than before with veggies, fruit, ground turkey, fish, lean meats, tuna, chicken breast, and Greek yogurt. I'm working on eating enough protein to slowly gain muscle and if it comes with a few lbs, I'm prepared.
Lastly, I am content with my body. For me, content is a strong word because I finally feel good about my own body. Happy will hopefully come when I gain muscle and tone my stomach by losing an inch or two off of my waist. I know I have a long road ahead with working on maintenance, muscle gain, and calorie counting but now I love strength training and I'm excited for it!
What's next? Maintenance, muscle gain and toning my stomach.
Shirt Size: XL to XS

One Regret: Not taking measurement from Day One - 11/6/2017...thinking back, perhaps I did not want to know.

WOW WOW WOW.... Incredible.... how you shred these all pounds off? what was your diet and workout plans? Can we talk please as I am on a similar journey with similar starting physique?2 -
5’2” 146 lbs and restarting the journey. Looking to get down to 135, at least to start6

Yaaass I love this thread! SO INSPIRING. I'm 5'2" and my starting weight was 176. I don't have any before or afters because my journey began 1.5 months ago. I've lost 13 pounds so far though. My goal weight is 135 and then we'll go from there. I can't wait to come back on here with my own progress photos!5

Great thread! I'm 65 and 5'2". I started MFP and dirty keto on 8/12/2019 at 238. So far I've lost 77 lbs and want to get down to 110-112. I've gone from a size 24 to a 14 but I'm trying to take it really slow lately so that loose skin isn't to horrendous. I'm not exercising except for doing yard work this summer but I want to start doing something starting in Fall/Winter. I'm a little frustrated with myself because I can't lift more than 40 lbs comfortably and my chicken food bags weigh 50 so my neighbor lifts them for me. I'm hoping that some type of weight training at home, will help me regain strength.7

So happy to have found this thread! I'm 5'2" about 160 (need to step on scale but have been afraid). I'm hoping to get to 125. I've been there before! I feel like since we are smaller we just don't NEED as many calories - and I often feel like that's unfair. I love sugar and that is definitely the hardest thing for me to give up. So I try to moderate. I'm interested in knowing if any of you has been able to take the weight off and keep it off for a year or more?2

@jenkspaf
I'm 5'3 and started at 179 two years ago and was at 137 prequarantine. Gained 6 pounds during that time after maintaining for almost a year. So now I'm working at getting back there and know it can be done!
My workouts are great and my nutrition needs to be tightened up. So I'm at 1200-1300 calories per day because like you said, don't need them but want them! I find the most success when working on keeping my protein up and my fat down!4 -
Hi There! I am 62 and 5 foot even. I started out in November at 225, and now at 202. Had congestive heart failure in November and been slow and steady. I am avoiding surgery with my weight loss and trying to get in 10,000 steps. This thread is very inspiring. You all are doing awesome! We can do it!19

These posts are so wonderful. At our stature (petite women), calorie restriction has one starving daily. I lose weight only if I eat fewer than 1200 calories a day. I already exercise every day of the week. I need to up my strength training for sure. Just knowing that others are in the same boat encourages me to keep it up. The problem I have is I'll lose a couple lbs after eating fewer than 1200 cal for 2 weeks straight, but then am literally starving and binge one meal. I end up putting back on a lb. then.12

Fellow shorty over here! I am a first time mom (my daughter is almost 8 months old) and I'm currently 218. Aiming for 160 and will reevaluate from there! That in and of itself is a lofty goal, so I have some WERRRRRK to do!!11
-
I'm 5'3" and if I could only eat 1200 calories a day I would just stay fat and focus on good nutrition.
@evesmom2 I've been working out with Jessica Smith DVD's using light weights and I can get my kayak on the roof of my car all by myself. I'm 66 and the kayak weighs about 45 lbs9 -
So much inspiration here! I'm just over 5' and I'll be 60 in 7 weeks. My highest weight (Jan 2016) was 220. Since then, my pattern has been to lose ~30 lbs in the spring and summer, and then gain 10-15 back in the fall and winter. I started 2020 at 170; I'm now at 148. My short-term goal is to be at 140 by my 60th birthday. (Photos that day!) Aiming for 125.13

I'm 4'11.75". My current weight is 168... My goal is 120. I wonder if 110 is possible. I guess it's my fantasy weight rather than my goal weight I'm glad to find this thread. Losing weight has always been hard for me. Hoping to do it this time sloooowly and gradually.12

Hello, I'm 58 and just under 5 feet so hope I qualify! I have my lockdown bod on, much too heavy at 149 pounds, but I'm starting to lose gradually. I want to be around 126 - 130 lbs, but really would like to drop a dress size and get back into my size 12 skinny jeans! I find exercise helps, and I'm following the high protein plan which worked really well for me last time, only I have to make sure I get the right amount of fibre because I suffer from IBS a lot. Good luck all!

By the way that's me in the middle, at my optimum weight and size, two years ago!2

Hello - I am 5' and started this journey at 180.5 pounds, I just started and weighed 178.5 after my first week. I am in my second week. I am 53 and post menopausal and I have many health issues. My goal is 140 pounds. My reasons is to help my joints have less stress and hopefully reducing pain. I have Fibro and Osteoarthritis, more progressed than most my age. I am hoping to incorporate more walking into my day.
I am counting Macros. My calories are 1300. I am still figuring out exactly what my macros will be. Currently I am doing 45% C/43% F/ 25% P. I have been reading a lot about it and have made adjustments along the way. I am going to up my protein. This app says high protein starts at 25%, I think I am going to up it to 30% . I eat a lot of fruit and that racks up the carbs fast!8 -

I was in the same boat during my journey. I would look at your overall trend. If it's going down over time, try not to be too hard on yourself - slow and steady is good.
Easier said than done, I know but you got this!4 -

It is exciting to find some short ladies out there.... I am 5 feet and 58 years old. Currently weigh in at 76 kg (167lb). I am hoping to get down to 60 kg (132lb). I am in Victoria, Australia and in lock down so no going to a gym... I walk the dogs everyday and have just started yoga for beginners (in the lounge). I am so glad to come across this group and hoping for inspiration and a few hints on how to work out at home....

Hey, I've only been on here for a little over two weeks and I'm lacking in friends! Been at it for over a month though. Since we're all around the same height, anyone mind adding me as a friend so we can follow each others journeys?! [: 14 pounds down as of today!!9

Hello! Im 5'3" and started around 143 pounds. Im down to 110 or so now, so its been quite a journey9

I don't know...Does mfp cater to us shorties? Does the minimum 1200 calories really apply to us?
In the same way as someone who is medium height or tall?
Please tell us your thoughts😊3 -
62 and 5'2. For the first time over weight at 150 pounds. I started MFP almost 3 weeks ago and have lost about 4lbs but water weight fluctuates so I still say 150. I was always under 130 and someone here said it best. Every pound on a short person looks like 5lbs or more. I got use to the food diary and calorie counting but now I'm trying to be better about sodium counting as well since I have high blood pressure and the meds can pack on pounds which is part of my problem. It is a slow process but I like that MFP helps me become so aware of how I am eating and how even light cleaning can burn enough calories that I can enjoy a glass of wine!

Not sure. I think you can adjust the amount of calories for your goal. Im sure a mans is different. I researched slimFast, Nutrisystem and Keto diets before coming here just to food diary my calories and all of them allow for males needing more but I never saw difference in calorie amounts based on height.2
