A 10K for me this morning before work. I thought it was going to be cool and fresh like the day before yesterday, but was actually strangely hot and muggy for 6am.. a real struggle but it’s done!
Was due to carry on with couch to 5k with my kids this afternoon but it’s torrential rain and they got caught walking in it so I’m being kind and we will have a cosy evening indoors.
September total: 15.2m
September goal: 100m
1/9: 7.6m
2/9: 1.4m
3/9: 6.2m
Jan- Aug 2020: 549.2 miles4 -
I signed up for Pastor Vincent's Virtual Marathon. Thanks for the link, @rheddmobile .5

@martaindale I think @Scott6255 is in the Dallas area. I'm about 2 hours west of there and we have some 50's in our forecast for next week. I'm really looking forward to that, but I'll be happy with 60's too.
Yes, just a little north of Dallas.

ETA no idea if that's the right word, but you know what I mean
I know what you mean, and really hope my races will be able to happen (safely of course) so that you can vicariously join me!4 -
Grocery shopping for my mom, will have a proper announcement for everyone who wants to join the Boston Marathon week challenge dedicated to @PastorVincent later.
I assume it’s okay to post about challenge hound here? Would it be against site rules if I added the link to Kristi’s gofundme on the challenge page?4 -
kristinajeang wrote: »Thanks @quilteryoyo @skippygirlsmom and @kgirlhart ! I actually am working through C25k to start like you mention kgirlhart, so I was curious how much would be *too much* for starting back up. I'm thinking I'll just do a light 1mi run today and not push it, because I have the feeling of really wanting to run, but I definitely don't want to injure myself and have to start back all over again once it heals up. I think I'm also going to take weekends off completely, maybe just play with my son outside/go on a walk with the kids. Especially since I just started back at work after maternity leave, I am going to soak up the weekend time I get with them.
@martaindale normally I wouldn't like virtual races, because part of it for me is the camaraderie and atmosphere of a race, but they have a lot of really cool virtual races now because of covid! I signed up for a Dunder Mifflin runners and a Back to the Future run because those are two of my favorites (The Office and B2TF), and I am super excited for the shirts! lol
I’m doing the Dunder Mifflin too! How can you not? Lol2 -

Oops. Maybe I didn’t. I’ll look for it later.

No run today. Biked 90+ minutes total of 24 miles plus 20 min strength.
I am beat.
I do have a race coming up Oct 3rd. They have also given a virtual option. Hoping to actually run it.3 -

LOL I guess I missed both of these. 😊

@Tramboman - I think she wanted people to test it so you did and it worked presumably!
@rheddmobile - I don't think there is any issue with posting the challenge hound link here, no different than posting a link to any other race. Also @Camaramandy648 already posted the GoFundMe link.
@Camaramandy648 (and anyone else interested in women's trail running, ultras and runners with eating disorders) the current issue (Sept/Oct) of Women's Running is a good one. Has a great article about why women do so well at the longer distances.
@mbaker566 - my daughter is going to the Olympic Peninsula next week. Because of Covid we can't take the trip we had planned to celebrate our birthdays (35/65) so she is treating herself to several days of hiking. I was thinking how much I would love to join her but don't yet feel comfortable getting on a plane.
I went out today early to run some intervals(6-8x400m with 90s rest), mostly just to see if I could. It was fun but challenging and a few times I pushed myself too hard and got dizzy. Many times I couldn't finish the full 400m but I was happy I could run fast even if just for 300m or whatever. Most of the intervals were in the 9-10 min pace range with a couple faster (probably the ones when I got dizzy). I am hoping to do this 1/week to see if it helps the PM 'learn' my aerobic needs.
It is supposed to be hot, really, really, hot starting tomorrow afternoon and all the way through the weekend. My plan is to run tomorrow and then take the weekend off. I may try to run Monday morning if it isn't too hot but it really isn't cooling a lot next week at all. 🥵
My partner and I in the eRace Racism 200 mile challenge have passed the halfway mark and have 90 miles left to complete in 28 days. She is an OB/GYN and is getting in some short runs around delivering babies! I don't know how she does it all. She is very fast though so running 3 miles isn't even 30 mins for her! Wish I could run that fast!
I am thinking about signing up for the 2021 Surf City HM. It is the 25th anniversary of the race and I really want to run it even though I am not supposed to be running longer distances anymore with my knee. I figure I can run part and walk part, maybe? Also it isn't until next February and hopefully by then things will be calmed down and safer with large crowds? What do you all think?

It was only 3 degrees here this morning when I went for my run. Three! Yes, that’s celcius, but it’s the coldest run for me this year but technically it’s the fourth day of Spring. Madness. Simply stunning weather though. Clear and still.
And, proving that my trainer does know what he’s talking about, after a day off and then a low intensity day yesterday, today’s run was great. It was only 30 minutes, but nice to be back at full speed. Normal programme resumes tomorrow.
I’ve been amazed how quickly I’ve bounced back. Nowhere near as much rest as I assumed I’d need.
Buildup to my half on the 20th continues and I see he’s given me a one week taper - I’ve always taken two or three, but again, I’ll bow to his superior knowledge and do as I’m told and assume I’ll get the result I’m aiming for!9 -
Announcement! Boston Marathon Week challenge run for @PastorVincent
There will be a challenge run in memory of @PastorVincent during the week of September 7 - 14. To join the challenge, friend me and message me (MFP doesn’t deliver messages unless you are friends first) and I will send you the link to your challenge team. The challenge is to run a marathon distance (well, actually challenge hound doesn’t support partial miles, so 26 miles), alone or as part of a team, during the week of this year’s virtual Boston Marathon. @PastorVincent was in training to qualify for Boston, so let’s come together and celebrate his life by running in his name!
Participants are also encouraged to do a random act of kindness in his memory. If you like, you can share about it here.
I also added the gofundme link for @PastorVincent’s wife Kristi and son Timothy to the challenge page.
Now, the way Challengehound handles team challenges is that each team gets their own challenge, which is part of a group containing all the challenges. You can view the leaderboard showing where everyone else is in the challenge by visiting the group page. If you want to do the miles as a team with someone else, get together with them, and one of you message me for your challenge to be set up, and I will message that person with the link that they can share with any team members. If you want to participate but don’t think you can do 26 miles in a week and don’t have a teammate, post here and we will see what we can do to get people together! @PastorVincent was all about helping new runners and how everyone who ran was a runner, no matter how many miles they ran or how fast. Also, if you have any special requests for your challenge setup, let me know.
You don’t have to join challengehound to participate in the challenge - if you want to just post about it on the thread, that’s fine too - but in order to be on the leaderboard and have a mileage tracker you do need to join. Challengehound is free and automatically syncs with Strava, plus you can manually add from other trackers.6 -

Thanks, @rheddmobile !!! You did great!!
I plan to do the full distance myself. What else does an old guy have to occupy his time?3 -
I guess I'll go ahead and add a goal and some miles - 90 mile goal.
Was out running today, feeling fat and slow as ever. Anyway, some random stranger leaned out the window and shouted, "I admire you, brother!" Felt better for the rest of the run. It's the little things...

Just a warm-up run before strength training early this morning before work. Another busy teaching day with little downtime to do other things. Very much looking forward to tomorrow being Friday.
Saturday morning is supposed to be in the low 40s here! That's going to feel brisk at first!

@shanaber Our paces for the intervals were similar today. I had a couple in the 11 min/mile range, but that was when I had to run up the hill I normally walk. You're doing great! If you really want to run the HM, I say go for it. You can do run/walk intervals. Hopefully, things will be better by 2021. Fingers crossed, anyway.
@ContraryMaryMary Glad you had a good run today! I'm sure you are going to do great on your HM.
@T1DCarnivoreRunner Glad you had the random support! It is the little things.....1 -

@rheddmobile I sent a message before we are friends and it seemed to have gone through - at least I didn't get a message that it didn't. I did send a fried request too. Thanks for setting up the challenge.0

I didn’t see a message but I did get your friend request. MFP doesn’t always tell you when a message doesn’t go through, it just silently vanishes! You should have a link now!1 -
I did get it @rheddmobile . Thank you!

All signed up for the @PastorVincent challenge! Thanks @Rheddmobile for setting this up and organizing us!
Yesterday, I met a couple of friends at a state park a couple hours away and we rode bikes on the New River Trail. It's an old railroad line that has been converted to a trail and runs 55 miles. We headed north and rode to the northern beginning point, stopping for lunch on the porch of this cute little mercantile store in Draper. We ended up with 45 miles. I will probably give my legs a rest today because I've got 18 miles on my running plan for tomorrow. Hope everyone has a great Friday!4 -

@rheddmobile thanks for setting up the challenge. I sent you a friend request.
Love the pun @HonuNui And always love seeing your amazing photos.
