I'm sorry you got hurt. Hope you heal fast and well. You are very brave, maybe a little too brave this time? The shoes look like they have no grip. Trail running shoes usually have more tread. Also you took 2 things that are already hard (running and rough terrain) and put them together. You squared the difficulty. Glad you just bruised instead of breaking or twisting something. The biggest setbacks to my getting in shape have been injuries. Rock on! (Sorry-too soon? )5

Sounds like you're doing awesome, Josh! Keep up the great work. Feel free to reach out if you need any more friends on here2

Wow! Great journey so far! Very inspiring and encouraging! I will be checking in from time to time to see how you're doing, to re-motivate myself, and to cheer you on! Keep up the amazing work!1

Thanks for all the kind words guys! It's my understanding that my brooks running shoes are kinda a middle of the road type shoe! I'm definitely going to invest in trail running shoes at some point but it's too early for that.
Luckily it wasnt an issue of a grip and more an issue of me not picking my feet up high enough lol3 -

I just started following this so I read all 5 pages today and you are an inspiration. Also i'm sorry you fell down but I would like to point out that your legs look noticeably stronger and in better shape than they did in your video on August 11.2 -
Alright update time! I finished week 3 of C25K and will be starting week 4 on Saturday
I lost 3 lbs this week which gives me a 59 lb weight loss, brings me down to 380, and I'm only 5 lbs away from my second short term weight loss goal of 375. I also have some progress photos for you guys.

You're definitely kicking butt!

This was a long weekend work wise for me and it has had my sciatica really flaring up pretty bad, but today was day one of week 4 for C25K and I got that work in anyway! This week I was honestly convinced that being told to do 5 minute running sessions that this would be my wall....no way was I going to do it! Well I did it! And I even hit a pace, or groove or something where I was just listening to the sound of my shoes on the gravel and I was comfortable. The last 5 minute session ended and I was so surprised by how good I was feeling that I just kept running for a little while longer.
I cannot believe that the guy that struggled to finish 60 second sessions on week one is finishing 5 minute sessions now.

Day two of week four of C25K is complete!
I'm continuing to do well with my calories, and I'm really hoping to lose 5 lbs this week lol. I know it will probably be 2 or 3 but I'm so hungry for hitting my short term goal!
Also, last known fastest mile was just over 16 minutes. Now it's a sub 15!

Awesome! Keep up the inspiring work. You are a warrior....with consistency you will reach your goals!1

Hi I came across your post and felt like reaching out to see how your progressing. I'm 5'7 and had hit a high point of about 370 but didn't kick my *kitten* into gear until about 353 pounds or so. 13 months later im at 221 pounds and ready to work on the two teens. I know the time and effort it takes to accomplish what you're doing so I just wanted to see how your doing.2

Thanks for the kind words guys!
Today I did some light hiking and trail running for in between the C25K training that I'm doing.
This time I DIDNT eat dirt hahaha, and I had some nice areas to practice running on more technical terrain. Was actually quite fun.

I have finally got my head back in the game and am 2 weeks into my journey. I came out here to the community looking for inspiration and just about gave up. I don't need someone to critique my plans and tell me what I should be doing, I just want people to share the journey with and not feel alone. I know what works for me and it looks like you do too! I just read your last 2 months on here and smiled, laughed and cried (sorry, I'm such an emotional girl) at your posts! You are creating a movement and inspiring in the BEST way possible, actions speak so much louder than words! Thanks for sharing your journey! I need to lose about 150 pounds and can already feel the difference in just 2 weeks back at it. My favorite exercise is Spinning and I am back on the bike and making great progress. I have a long, steep driveway and 2 weeks ago I had to stop 2 times and catch my breath to come back up it after taking out the garbage. I get up at 3:30 a.m. to do this because my driveway goes up the middle of my 2 neighbor's yards and I don't want them to witness how bad I struggle to do such a simple task! Just 2 weeks in and I made it up the driveway without stopping!!! I was breathing hard and had to catch my breath at the top, but I made it! I'm so excited and thinking maybe in another 2 weeks I might be able to perform the task at normal business hours! Lol. I have to admit when I started reading your post, I half expected it to be a short lived effort like so many of the other threads of people who start and fade away. I am so impressed you are sticking it out and making it happen! I will definitely be back to see your progress and report on mine! Keep up the great work! 😊9

I hope you continue to post even if there was a blip in the road! You have an engaging way of writing, and interesting ideas for exercise! You helped me get inspired to keep moving, though only walking, not running yet.5

Sorry for the hiatus guys! It was as unexpected for me as maybe it was for you all lol. I'm on my way to work soon but when I get some free time I will give you guys an update on my life and my plan going forward.9

Hope everything is okay and you keep posting. I am learning fairly quickly that having a community behind you can make a huge difference in your journey.2

IDK if anyone is still checking in here or not but wanted to give an update just in case. I have been back at it for almost two months now and feel incredible! I have made so many improvements in my health and fitness by eating clean and exercising. My endurance has increased noticeably and I have to work harder to get my heart rate up on my bike. Today was garbage day and I was able to walk down and back up my driveway without issue! I even walked straight up my steps when I got inside without stopping! I have lost 33 of the 150 pound goal I set. I'm even more excited to tell you I had a doctor's appointment this past week and my blood pressure is normal without having to go on medication!!! Life is so good and I'm hungry for more! Even if you struggle, keep pushing through! Persistence definitely pays off! 😊7

Hello everyone! This thread is pretty old by now but I'm going ahead and resurrecting it because I'm actually the guy that made this thread. I have a different account for various reasons and a lot has happened between the time of the last update and now.
For instance, the last weight recorded was 380. I am right now at 357 have a completely different job that is very physically demanding, live in a city 2 hours away from where I used to live. I have a fiance whom I am marrying this October. I am restarting the C25K program, back at my kettlebell and mace training but something I am now doing that I wasn't back then is that I have started to practice Brazilian Jiu-jitsu. Anyways, I'm excited to be back and keep getting at my goals.

This is inspiring to see! You seem to have maintained your loss from long ago and even lost a bit more and that's wonderful! I'm back on MFP and back on the road to better health after regaining much of the weight I lost previously, but I feel good about things this time. You look like you are resolved to make a positive change as well.
Congrats on your upcoming marriage. That's exciting! Feel free to add me as a friend. I have a fair amount of fat to lose (100 lbs loss would put me at the high end of my "ideal" weight bracket). I'd like to lose consistently enough to get rid of much of the extra weight in the next year and I'm prepared to do the hard work to reach that goal.
As a former lurker on the message boards, I'm glad to see you back on MFP!

Thank you for the welcome back! I'm excited to keep losing weight and to keep working towards my goals!
This week I have ended up weighing 355 so I lost 2 lbs this week. My diet isn't under as good management as it was when I started this thread but I know that as time goes on I will get it more fine tuned.
I worked out in some capacity nearly every day this week and of course went to jiu-jitsu where I got my butt beat lmao.
Today I'll be doing the last day of week one for C25K. I didn't struggle with week one the same way I did when I started this thread so that was a really good feeling. What didn't feel good was that the trail I chose to run in ended up being flooded in some spots 🤦♂️

I tried to revive this this thread a couple years ago and didn’t stick with it. There have been ups and downs, and I have had moments of determination and focus and large gaps of just not trying. One thing I can say for certain is however that I learn a little more about myself every time and I get better.
I’ll give a more thorough update on my progress and such later but for now I figure I will kick off by giving a side by side progress photo from the start of this at 420 lbs and my current 315 lbs
