Not sure if I'm just weird, but does anyone else remember times in their life by the foods they ate?? Not just childhood

I'm thinking we all do. We have 'comfort' foods - when eating food we involve all our senses and totally links a strong memory to the time/place, etc.,
    Food holds power for sure.

Memories of childhood for dinner. Copycat KFC done in the air fryer from the Chicago Tribune recipe. Copycat KFC slaw. Copycat Kraft Dinner using dehydrated cheese powder I bought online. Green salad with ranch was not from my childhood.

Reading through this brings back some real fond memories, especially the Pizza Hut Buffet (when Pizza Hut was good).

For me though anything my grandmother made was great, but absolutely nothing could beat her fried chicken and the Chicken gravy she made from it. This gravy was so thick you could eat it like pudding if you wanted, or spackled a wall with it, but it was sooo good. Throw that gravy on top of everything on the plate and you probably consumed 3000 calories per plate. That woman, though she hated to, could cook and do it well.

Except for the Delaware Punch and beans, that was my diet about 30 years ago. Drank Tab by the gallons, loved Kraft Mac N Cheese, fish sticks.

When I think back to childhood meals, I remember lots of Lunchables, Hot Pockets, Gushers, Corn Nuts, Fruit-Roll-Ups, Donuts, Ho-Hos(?), and Happy Meals. Maybe there is a reason I rebelled as an adult to eating healthy! hm.

Did I just sing that in my head?

    Why, yes, yes I did.

Here was a big one for me. I swear, Kroger used to not bother shelling the peanuts. I swear they just ground them up with the peanuts. This stuff was the nastiest Peanut Butter ever made. When I was a kid, sometimes this garbage was the only thing in the cabinets at home with some saltines.

    Pizza bagels.

Soft pizza rolls (warmed up in the microwave) not crispy (baked in oven) because I was always too impatient.

And this specific brand of chicken nuggets. I still crave them to this day. zi4zp549o3r3.png

You picked Fig Newtons over Lorna Doones???? How could you? I loved Lorna Doones! I haven't had or even thought about those in so long.
Whenever my parents would go grocery shopping, checking through the bags when they returned was always the highlight for me. A good trip meant they'd picked up peanut butter wafers, Lorna Doones, or those big chocolate-marshmallow pinwheel cookies. A bad trip was....Fig Newtons. :)

ha...I had to look up what Lorna Doones even were! Never heard of them...however I do remember my mom would buy us 'Wagon Wheels'...watv8fx40jfy.png
