@quilteryoyo I am so sorry for your news. I would follow the recommendations of your medical team. I know I would personally ruminate on it if I delayed too long, but it is a big decision, and I know you are trying to weigh everything out.

@Camaramandy648 Reading your post makes me tired! My half today seems like nothing compared to that mileage! Please be careful and listen to your body during your runs.

@Faebert that looks amazing! Definitely not too late. My husband had an honest to goodness work deadline this week so we are a little slow ourselves!

@katharmonic As far as recovery goes, what I know right now is it would be 6-8 weeks of not driving and not lifting over 10 pounds, and not running....so the sternum can heal completely. He did say I would be able to/encouraged to walk. But, I didn't really ask for details as I was a little blind sided by the results, since it had been stable for 3 years. Hence, the weekend to get my head around everything. Leaning toward just going ahead and getting it done. Weather will be nicer to walk outside in the Fall. I know I shouldn't worry about it, but I hate to not be able to take care of the leaves and lawn. I really don't want my mom and dad to have to do that and they would be really mad if I hired someone to do it. It's a balancing act.

@katharmonic Glad you are having such great weather and great runs. Love the SBJ hill. LOL

@Scott6255 Funny how sometimes when you try to go slower, you actually go faster.

It's been rainy here for 3 days. Not ideal for running out the rural road. So, I did a treadmill session today. I ran an easy pace 5K and walked a mile.

    Also 14/20 miles walked.

Hi all. Been unable to run for a few days and generally felt like life was beating me up a bit! But I know that others on here have some real struggles right now. Sending big hugs @kgirlhart @eleanorhawkins @mbaker566 and @quilteryoyo and anyone else I missed. Nodding along with the parenting chat too. Mine are 11 and 9 but teen moodiness seems to have made an early entrance. Especially difficult when you are a single parent @Camaramandy648 - I’m in the same boat and send you sympathy!!

Some of you might remember that one of my random acts of kindness in memory of Pastor Vincent was to offer to make a wedding cake for the son of a colleague. He is an intensive care doctor who has worked hard throughout the pandemic, and had to postpone and change the wedding plans 3 times so I was extra happy to do it, even though I’ve never met the couple! Pic in spoiler below (if I’ve managed it...) @rheddmobile probably too late for Kristi’s book but if not I can email it to you.

@quilteryoyo – sorry for the news that your aneurysm has grown. The doctors recently found one in my co-worker’s husband and they are trying to make the same decision. His doctor just recommended that he go to a doctor in New York to have the procedure done. Are you looking to stay local? I know you don’t want to put your parents to extra trouble taking care of the lawn and other things while you will be recovering but it will be good to let them do something to help you. I’m sure they will be feeling helpless and if they think they are doing something to help you, that will make all the difference to them.

@WandaVaughn – I hope your daughter gets good news at her next appointment.

@Faebert – sorry about life’s troubles but wow what a beautiful cake! You are very talented!

Great race pace @rheddmobile!! Love the virtual race concept!

    Nice job @runsonespresso!
