Down 50 lbs (so far) in 3.5 months

Decided on 8/1 that I was sick of being fat, uncomfortable and unhealthy. Weighed in at 290 lbs. Started counted every calorie that went into my body and went 2 shakes and 1 meal a day. A few weeks later I started adding in cardio and a few weeks after that light strength training. Goal is another 50lbs by next summer.
The amount of energy gain, good feels, compliments, etc. that I've gotten so far has made it worth it, but most of all being able to keep up running around with my kids ten fold. I haven't been this low in weight since before college.
Whatever your goal is, keep it up and bust your butt. There is no magic pill, but hard work pays off! I will post another update when I'm closer to my summer goal

Great job!
I had a similar epiphany on 6/10/20 at 261 lbs, and lost the first 50 in about the same time-frame as you. I love having energy to run with the kids and even have them wear out before I do.
Keep it up!10 -

Awesome job! What shakes did you use and how many times per week did you work out and strength train?1

I have a variety of shakes that I use. Garden of Life, RSP, Fit & Lean, Slimfast. I try to rotate so I don't get tired of one of them. I basically eat between 10am & 6pm. Sometimes I have a later dinner or a few drinks late at night.
I try to do cardio 3-4 days a week where I hike 2-3 miles through varying terrain. I also try to lift 5 days a week, but nothing crazy. I do 5 sets of 10 with light weights and do 3 exercises per day. Weight training only takes me 20-30 mins throughout the day.3 -

How much have you lost in total? At what point did the weight loss slow down?0 -

That's fantastic. I started a similar journey this past July 10th: to lose 100 lbs in 1 year (2 lbs/week). So far, I've lost 41 lbs in 20 weeks. I use the Zone Diet, and I exercise on a stationary recumbent bike and a treadmill. Swimming works best for me but that's not an option presently with Covid-19.
I've been on stricter diets before and have found they don't work for me in the long run. So, I try to eat well-balanced meals within my calorie allotment, and most importantly for me, in order to make my diet sustainable long term, I continue to enjoy many foods I love but less frequently and in smaller quantities.
Great job! Keep it up. It's inspiring to see other people (similar to me) achieving their goals.

Updating as of today. I'm down 70 pounds today. Here are a few new pics. My goal is to drop another 30 pounds and then start to build up some muscle. I'm hoping to be 190 by early summer.

Congratulations!
I'm down 50 pounds as well, but it's taken me 6 months to get here.
But I'm half way to my goal.7 -
I just joined. I've been losing 12 pounds or so a month. Just exercising and counting my calories. I've been upset because so many people I know have lost 20 pounds a month and it's been discouraging. But to see how far you've come with 15 pounds a month gives me a little more encouragement. I didn't take a good before photo when I weighed 385 pounds.. I'm down to 295 and will be taking my first before photo tomorrow. I didn't want to do it shirt off before, but now I realize after seeing your photo that it'll make me appreciate the weight loss.6

@ManlyMutt
12 pounds a month is about 0.4 pounds/day, or nearly 3 pounds/week... that is phenomenal!
When you've gained a lot of weight, you're not going to lose it all over night. Have patience, and persevere.

The weight loss is great, and no easy feat, don't get me wrong, but how will you maintain that loss when you stop using meal replacement shakes?1
