@AR10at50 I'm glad your boy wasn't hurt. It's fun to watch kids' personalities played out. I have two teenage girls and a boy toddler. He is rough and tumble so often, so much harder on stuff than my girls. So far no broken bones, thank goodness, but he climbs on top of everything and scares me.4

@Lilylady3k I wouldn't throw them out. I've thrown many pictures out and later regretted it. Old photographs 100+ years are priceless. I have a 100 + year old picture of my great grandmother up on my wall, never met her. I have other photographs of strangers but I can't throw them away. Pretty cool to have pictures that old. I wish I had my grandmother's 100+ year old typewriter.
Pictures from college, keep those too!3 -
Happy Thanksgiving!
We are making a Turkey with an apple cider brine, made a NY Roast yesterday and BBQ Pulled Pork the day prior. From this, I am creating a Paleo holiday to-go combo platter I will deliver to my daughter tomorrow.
I will set my drinking limit to 2 and may dash out to make those 2 bailey's mini's as my "dessert". Who knows how many extra miles I need to run to burn those off??
@dawnbgethealthy : My favorite trending singer is Michael Kiwanuka, favorite songs "Cold Little Heart" and "Love and Hate". Two amazing and inspirational songs for me.
I mumble the lyrics as I run outside, that's the extent of my singing! Well besides playing the home game Rockband that was popular about ten years ago

Happy Thanksgiving a little something I painted last week.

@Lilylady3k your recipe for Spinach Madeleine sounds very good. Thank you for posting it.
We had an early dinner around 12:30 this afternoon. I had made a lot of vegetable sides to go with the Beef Wellington. I did not want to be wallowing around with to much food in me later. It is rainy and very cold and damp out - the walk for today got canceled, yet I did get in a workout at 7:45am this morning. Watched the Macy's Day parade and thought it was better than I expected.
Did go visit an elderly woman I know and took her a bowl of my creamy carrot bisque I whipped up last night.
Other than that no drink for me today or yesterday. Not feeling it.
I want to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to you all. You are all such hidden gems to me. Wishing you a wonderful day.🤎💛🧡5 -

I am Dawn and live in South East British Columbia. I am 60.
My goal remains the same as it has been for quite some time, 16-20 AF days per month.
I check in diary style. It works for me.
Monday Nov 23 - AF - Early morning and fairly long day tomorrow. Anyway, I had been breaking my own rule for myself, not having 2AF days in a row.
Tuesday Nov 24 - Drinks. Apparently my self control is not that in gear over the last week. I will get to my 16-20.
Wednesday Nov 25 - AF - Had to get to that 16 although I was really craving an Espresso Bailey's with Apricot Brandy mixed in. It is not going anywhere, I can have it another day.
Thursday Nov 26 - Drinks. Lots of calories still left over, very active day with my morning workout, a trip to another town for skating etc. Not sure what is up with me, I have definitely had more AF days in the past 11 months. Hoping to get at least a couple more AF days before the month is out.
Rolling total. 16AF days out of 26 days4 -
Happy Thanksgiving!
@MissMay Beautiful talented painting ... love it! It was sweet of you to think of your elderly friend and take her yummy carrot bisque.
All my kids were with in-laws this year. We had my single sister and DH's single brother over as usual for holidays. Wonderful dinner. Very full tummy! 3 glasses of wine.
Nov accountability: 13/26 days AF4 -
Last Friday of November.
I had forgot to chime in about how Thanksgiving Eve is supposed to be the biggest drinking night for bars and reastraunts and clubs. I never knew that until I acquired a few friends that were bartenders and they would fight over who was going to work the night before Thanksgiving. Well that came to a screeching hault now this year didn`t it?
Too late photos all shredded, life for me goes on. I am a minimalist and not everything I tow behind me will fit into my RV I plan to travel and live in down the road. It is all good, I keep my memories in my mind when I close my eyes. And as long as my nephews said they were not interested in Aunties pics I am in the clear.
Never came across my mind to open up anything yesterday to pour into a glass. Did thin down a very small carton of eggnog a friend dropped off. Added soy milk to it or else it gets stuck in my throat like peanut butter. Guess that is why I used to add rum. Hahahaha.
Three more days and then December 1st this thread is off for a new adventure over in Motivation and Support category on the message boards. 🚚8 -
Nice artistry work on that painting @MissMay !
DH burnt the turkey....hilariously hysterical. He was distracted on the phone with his mom for way too long. Lucky for us nobody came over anyway! Thankful we had our sense of humor and a bottle of pinot grigio to save the evening.
Today starts day 1 of my holiday AF streak. READY.........6 -
@MissMay You have a great, uplifting attitude and you're right! I don't have any pictures of my dad and I as I was growing up. Yet, I have some of the best memories with him. Maybe I'll write them down.
That is sweet to write them down❤ I like the stories better than the photo.
My first late husband was obsessed with me taking pictures. When we were traveling he would always tell me to have the camera ready to get photos. I spent my whole time with my stomach in knots, because if I happened to not get a gazzion pics of what he saw he would get angry. Thing is, I never really was able to retain any of those in my memory bank because I had the camera lens glued to my eye ball. I would have rather been in awe of the moment.
Hope your Thanksgiving with your husband and three children was lovely.3 -
Just the three of us for Thanksgiving, no alcohol for me and just football as background noise while cooking and cleaning, and I squeezed a 3 mile run in in the middle of it. Oh and Macy's Day Parade 💖💝💗, best way to start Thanksgiving morning!!! Leftovers probably until Monday and will be good and sick of it by then. Last year I was drinking too much and watching National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation followed by a solo party of all National Lampoon's movies until early hours of morning. Tonight it will be National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation without alcohol! Life is good...!!!

Good morning Less Alcohol seekers~
Funny observation since Thanksgiving pasted. Approaching the Thanksgiving holiday in my area and with talking with my friends and family. There was much scepticism as to how November 26 would play out. Not being able to have crowds of people stuffed into our homes or being without some of those that we love.
99.9% of the responses from people I have spoke with, found a way to make the very best of what they had in front of them. I have a dear dear friend that is over 100 years old. When I spoke with her on the phone Thanksgiving. I apologized for not being able to see her this year. She was very calm and cool...."You know" she said, "the world has become very spoiled with technology. There was not always a time that you could have everything you wanted in a snap of you finger. Sometimes families could not be together for other reasons like weather, or work or distance. And we made the best of what we had right then and there."
I wanted to share this wise womans thoughts with you. She has lived through a century, seen many horrible things, had much less in her life than many in this day and age. Yet....she was sure if most did not expect so much they may be happier with what is in front of them.
LESS really is more. 🌺
