Half a panfried goose breast, bread stuffing, some Janson's temptation dropped off by a Swedish friend, sauteed snow peas, cranberry sauce.

Made truffles again this year...not as good as other ones I've made (ganache was 'greasy'...not as smooth as it should have been...bla)

Christmas Day breakfast!🥰 I used the coconut whipping cream, it’s light and lower in fat when compared to regular whipping cream.

And here I thought I made it up! Ha, ha, but seriously--it tasted fantastic. Anyone who wants to try it, don't hesitate.2 -
Our usual salad, more or less, to start. Green leaves, sliced apple tossed in a few drops of lemon juice, blue cheese and candied nuts dressed in classic vinaigrette sweetened with a little leftover cranberry sauce. Main of linguine carbonara stretched with some spiralized courgette and made with shredded leftover Christmas ham instead of guanciale.

Hubby cooked dutch zuring stampot (=mash with sorrel). Smoked sausage is the traditional accompaniment but the vegan version today were pretty tasteless.

^^Maybe? Why break the tradition!😉3

There always has to be someone who disagrees. Definitely wasn't me, that looks delish!0 -
I broke down our Xmas goose because new lockdown rules meant we couldn't have dinner guests at Christmas after all, and a roast goose was too much for just the two of us. Tonight's goose thighs were braised Chinese style in char sieuw marinade. Bok choi braised with leftover ham from Xmas Eve. Asian slaw of grated carrot and apple. Basmati rice.

Everything looks A M A Z I N G! Thanks for sharing. Of course, I'm seeing these wonderful dishes of culinary art right before my boring dinner.2

This reminds me of a Chinese story about a poor student who lived above a restaurant specializing in roast duck, but could only afford to eat plain rice and boiled cabbage. So while he ate his rice and cabbage he would open the window and enjoy the smell of the roasting duck. When the restaurant proprietor got wind of this, he took the student to court because he thought he should be paid for the smell of his duck. The judge decreed that the student should jingle some coins while he ate, because the smell of food should be paid for with the sound of money.10 -
I didn’t get the best pre-dinner photo, but here was the aftermath of Christmas dinner:
BBQ smoked turkey, mashed potatoes, roasties, succotash, Brussels sprouts, mashed carrots and parsnips, stuffing, homemade cranberry sauce, smokey dripping gravy

If I promise, say, daily baguette and a never-ending supply of proper maple syrup, will you adopt me and feed me until the end of time?5 -

Well....I could use somebody to help clean the apartment. If you'd be interested---it's a deal.0 -
Roll your own California hand rolls. Finally, a dinner with no taste of Xmas.

😭 I promise to always wash the dishes, mom. That's the best I can do but I swear I'll be really prompt with it.2 -

OK---deal.1 -
Still using up Xmas leftovers. The melon and ham salad with mint and honey mustard vinaigrette used up the last of the gammon from Xmas Eve. Primo of linguine aglio olio following the Giorgios Locatelli recipe.

Still using up the last of the Xmas food. Porcini risotto using stock made from the goose carcass. Sides of tomato salad and roast courgette.

Nam prik ong with a couple of microwaved poppadoms instead of rice. Dessert of Eton mess made with yoghurt instead of whipped cream, and kiwi instead of strawberry.

Despite what my sister claims, I don't post every meal on facebook. But, in true passive aggressive sister fashion, when she told me a few days ago that it really irritated her when I DID post them, well .... now every single freaking meal is being posted. and all my other friends know EXACTLY why LOLOLOLOL
I actually did have to dig to find these first two. The others are recent.
