Thank you so much Jill for starting this and congrats on your 2020 successes!
30 lbs is a perfect goal for me. After a summer of sedentary nothing, I got off to a good start and lost 10 lbs in October/November but "fell off the wagon" with my eating and gained about 5 lbs back in December. Having a bit of support will be perfect to get me back on track.
As of this morning I was 184 with 155 being my target weight. At 50YO, that goal is achievable and not unrealistic. My biggest challenge will be taking time for physical activity. Getting my eating back on track shouldn't be too hard since I feel awful because I haven't been eating well.
Fridays will be my weigh in day. I am looking forward to a healthier 2021 and being part of this great group!

Iād love to lose 30ish pounds and Iād love to do it with the support of this group. Thanks for starting it. 4 years ago I turned the big 4-0 and since then my body hasnāt been quite as forgiving of my unbelievable sweet tooth as it once was. I have gained about 20 pounds in that length of time.
Iām a long-time member of MFP (just received my 6-yr anniversary badge) but Iāve never managed to use it consistently. Iām usually good for a couple days, then eat something terrible and decide not to log it and fall off the logging/eating healthy wagon. I hope this group will help me build the habit of daily tracking.
My daily plan:
Eat fresh, mostly plant-based foods
Avoid refined sugar
Meal plan and prep
Log calorie intake
Stay under calorie budget
30+ min cardio
10+ min strength
Current weight 160
Goal 135

Hello, everyone! I'm Lorna. I'm from the UK. I've gotten overweight which isn't healthy and don't like how I look or feel. I have a very sedentary job and I haven't been moving much. I'm also prone to blow outs on marshmallows and/or chocolate. I had just joined a gym and a learn to row course at a rowing club but both got shut down last weekend due to COVID rules and both will continue to be shut for at least 1.5 weeks more, probably longer.
As well as the scale, I bought a UK size 12 dress ostensibly for next Autumn's rowing club dinner which I can't get over my head properly yet. I plan on taking weekly photos of my progress (for myself) as far as the dress is concerned as well as weekly weigh-ins here.
Starting weight: 157
Age: 40
Height: 5'3"
Goal Weight: 127
I lost 10lbs a year or so ago just by following MFP, no exercise, in about 8 weeks so I'm hoping that October (10 months) should be plenty of time to crack 30 lbs with moderate exercise on top.0 -

Hiya! I havenāt been super motivated to work out this past week. Will try to pick it up after Xmas. Iām going to do Heather Robertsonās 12 week challenge on YouTube. (Hopefully my 2 year old lets meš.)
Just read an article saying tracking workouts/meals as well as having accountability coaches can really help with weight loss. Please hold me accountable friendsš2 -
Hi everyone,
Iām Ysa and Iām joining this group because I really need accountability for sustained weight loss. I honestly never join groups or share much about my weight loss struggles but Iāve reached my breaking point. Iāve struggled with my weight for the past 12 years. I fluctuate between 255 lbs and 230 lbs year after year. I know what I need to do but Iāve struggled with staying consistent. I am truly unhappy with my body and want to finally see myself through this goal in 2021. Iām able to commit and excel in other areas of my life but when it comes to my weight loss goal, I seem to always waver.
Itād mean so much to accomplish this for myself and my daughter. Iām prayerful that having this support group will help me get there. My friends and family are mostly petite or at a healthy weight so Iām almost ashamed to lean on them about this struggle because they donāt seem to understand this yoyo issue I have. Thank you all in advance for being supportive. Iām speaking success into the universe to see the fruition of our goals!
Current weight: 257.5 lbs
Age: 33
Location: Columbia, MD
Weaknesses: Carbs and Late night snacking
Goals:
Goal weight: 210 lbs by June 2021
Workouts: 5+ per week
Sleep: 7 - 8 hrs
No snacking after 7:00pm

anjietristine wrote: Ā»Need some help gang. I do really well with logging and eating what I should be eating, and then all bets are off at about 11pm. Oh, that cookie looks good, or oh... we got an edible tray with chocolate covered graham crackers...I probably eat about 300-400 cal of junk, it's sweet.... my downfall. There are a ton of temptations in my house with my 23 and 19 year old sons and hubby-- thank goodness I don't care for chips. I welcome your tips and substitution ideas-- thanks!
Its so easy to say things like " go to bed at 8pm" "don't keep temptations in the house" "tell family members to hide their goodies" "drink water instead" "do 20 jumping jacks first" or "have the treat, expecting it,and count it". But tragically all this fails when the cookie screams from the cupboard. Water has been my filler and at times my downfall. The sodastream with bubbles fills me so much that at times I fail my caloric intake. I have read about chewing gum as well but have no experience in its positive/negative effects. Time, brain train, .5 lb loss and you knowing you will be stronger then the screaming cookie one day will get you through.
Thanks Anjie-- I was actually thinking that I needed to increase my water intake to get me over that late night challenge -- I love a good hot cup of tea. I have forgotten about the soda stream-- that's a great idea! A new toy to play with! Thanks!1 -

Not the best of days to weigh-in being Boxing Day and having had a 2 day blow-out but Saturdays work best for me the rest of the year so I'm carrying on regardless.
SW: 157
26th Dec/CW: 154
GW: 127
I'm only a pound up on Christmas eve morning so I'm very happy with that.
Currently 6 days into a 30 day 5k run challenge as seen on YouTube to kickstart my fitness since my gym closed due to COVID laws the same day I signed up.
Merry Christmas to all who have been celebrating!2 -

Merry Christmas Lorna,
Yesterday was off the rails, but I went back and logged everything this morning. I went way over my calories, but I feel so much better now that I logged. I also took a nice 1/2 mile walk with my dog Roxie, so weāre starting today off on the right foot.
Congrats on your 6th day of your 5k run challenge. Exercise is such a good mood booster.

Hello to all! I am new to MFP community. Iād love to add friends. In 2020 I managed to lose about 45 pounds and unfortunately back-slid plenty. Overall, a net loss of 30 for 2020, but I was under my goal when my diet went off the rails. Iāll own it - I kept running but was eating pretty much anything. Iām probably lucky the results werenāt worse. Iāve a weakness for sugar. So, Iām buckling down again for 2021. I havenāt been super specific about my goals, and I think thatās hurt me. After hitting the low I did back in July, Iāve edited my goal. I do think I can knock off the nearly another 30 for 2021 - IF I work consistently at it. Itās work - but itās worth it. Iām in for 2021.4

Sugar is my weakness too...I think I'm addicted...I have to go cold turkey and not have it otherwise if I have one small bite, I'm a goner! lol Yay to 2021!!!!

I'm in. I haven't been active on MFP for a couple of years because i was busy having babies. I managed to get through the first pregnancy with minimal weight gain but I'm 5 weeks post partum now and I weight 187lbs. I want to get down to at least 160.
Exercising is difficult as the baby feeds 24/7 so I cant leave him but hoping that will ease soon.
I'm giving myself till jan 1st before I start bit it will be good to have a group then to keep me accountable.1 -
Welcome everyone!
Iām glad weāre all here working toward a healthier 2021! Enjoy time with your family, your friends, and yourself. Weāll really get things going on January 1st.

oh I am definitely in. I just came back to MFP after a few years and looking forward to meeting some great people who can keep me accountable and me do the same for them I will weigh in on Jan. 1st....it's been awhile since I stepped on the scale monster but I believe I will be starting around 235lbs.1

Hi! I'm back as well from a long absence. Lost 30 pounds a few years ago by logging, exercising (mostly walking), routines, reducing wine, eating serving sizes. Since March 2020, now up to 225 and it's definitely got to go! Covid will end and I'm gonna be ready!!!2

Good morning and Happy New Yearās Eve!
We are 1 day from our official start of the 2021 30 pound challenge, and I am getting ready to start the new year off on the right foot.
Iāve got a meal plan in place for the first week in January, so I pick up my Clicklist full of fruits, veggies, chicken and lean ground beef this afternoon.
Roxie and I started today with a 45 minute walk. Itās 28 degrees this morning, but Roxie absolutely loves to be outside no matter the weather. 4,800 steps in and it not even 9am!
I have let myself slide for the last 2 weeks in regard to logging and staying within my calorie goal...so Iām totally motivated to get in gear for the new year!
My goals for 2021 are:
ā¢30 minutes of exercise/dayā 10,000 steps
āwalking my dog
āYouTube videos of walking/dance workoutā. low impact on icy days.
ā¢Logging truthfully and consistently
ālogging as I go
āstaying under my calorie goalāno foods are off limitsā just being mindful and counting it
ā¢Meal planning to take off stress of whatās for dinner when I get home from work at 7pm
ā¢Drinking more water and logging it
ā¢Keeping in contact with this amazing group of like minded friends. Weāre here for each other and this is our year!
āChecking in daily
āposting YouTube videos to share
ācelebrating our successes
I look forward to seeing you all in 2021!!

Okay, my resolution for 2020 was to reach my goal weight. And I was nearly there, then I went way off the rails around Thanksgiving and have gained 20 pounds back! Ugh. Know what? New Year's is a great new start!
My goals for 2021:
1. Reach my goal weight...FINALLY!
2. Run a half marathon.
3. Support my weight loss friends here in kicking butt in the new year, too

Hello Jill, there is a YouTube channel by Lucy Wyndham-Read, who creates 7-minute workouts. She has quite a variety. I have only done one, flat abs or something like that, and it was all standing. I don't know if anything she has on her channel is what you are looking for, but you can find her here:

I'll join in with all of you starting tomorrow. I'm Bill age 72. I'd lost 49 lbs. and was doing great at keeping if off. Then, had some surgery recovery time off, my fitness studios closed because of covid, blah, blah, blah, so lost motivation and packed on some weight. Weigh in date will be Sunday, starting wt. 189.
Goals;
More water, I'm a diet soda addict.
Add more cardio and weight lifting.
Cut out junk food, I'm vegan, but still need to eat cleaner!
Stay injury free, I'm in 3 running/walking challenges ( I'm a trail runner ), so need to be careful. The trails were very icy when I was out today.
Plenty more to work on for sure.
Glad to be here!

Happy New Year everyone!
I started a bit early so I'm drawing a line and restarting today.
SW: 151.25 lbs
GW: 121.25 lbs
I have 2 little black dresses I bought off ebay which I daren't put on properly for fear of ripping them which are UK size 12. I'd like to fit these for a possible posh dinner in the Autumn. I'm signed up for a couple of 10ks, a half-marathon and a full marathon in October. I used to run occasionally if I had a race booked but not otherwise. I want 2021 to be the year I'm consistent.
I've also given myself sub-goals with non-food rewards:
lose 5lbs- nice Balega running socks
lose 14lbs (one stone)- new sports bra
lose 28lbs (two stone)- new running shoes
lose 30lbs - might be able to fit into the size 10 items in my wardrobe back at mum's.
3 -
Day 1. Starting weight, 155 pounds, 30 pounds to go. My goal is to be more active after 4 PM when I get off work. Find one activity a day to do, rather than sitting on the couch.5
