I have been gifted far too much food. Cinnamon rolls from my mother......why Mom why?! Warm cinnamon rolls are such a weakness for me. My husband is plowing through the first tray...I've had one bite of one of his, and I put the second tray in the freezer. My son in law gave us so much candy. I'm donating that via my nurse friend, to her hospital break room. God knows those people are heroes. It is so hard to stay on track this time of year. No wonder so many people start on January 1. I enjoy reading all the tips and motivating ideas on here. Remember, Summer bodies start in Winter! We can do this!12

Hope everyone had a great holiday! So looking forward to the new year for so many reasons. Love all the motivational sayings.
Someone here on MFP posted on a thread about eating under our proper nutritional calories that always stuck with me, and I'm paraphrasing here. It's not how few calories we eat, it's how many calories we can eat and still lose weight. After reading that thread, I realized how important it is to eat the proper amount of calories to fuel our bodies.
Sunday check in for me: These are my weekly average weigh-in's (I weigh every day and average the 7 days Monday through Sunday).
11/29 141.9
12/06 141.7
12/13 140.7
12/19 140.6
12/27 140.3
Every ounce is a victory! LOL. Happy to keep that downward trend going even if it is ever. so. slowly. Wishing everyone a happy week ahead.12 -
I swore I was going to get my act together yesterday. I got on the scale this morning and all these shinanigans have me up 5lbs. My daughter told ne to just get back on track Monday its more realistic for me. Ill be out of the house and back to work. Why is it so hard when Im home? No self control whatsoever.10

Whenever you have a lapse, just begin again. If it was a bad week last week, begin again now. If yesterday was a bad day, begin again now. If you overindulged at your last meal, begin again now.
You got this. You can do it.
Be well.9 -
We are seeing a break in the rainy Oregon weather, so I'm back on the trail, trying to work off some holiday pounds. Hope everyone is enjoying their Hanukkah/Christmas/Kwanza. Stay safe!8

Hello All...Back on track today! Yay ME!
I refuse to think in terms of "bad/good" days, weeks, foods etc because it causes me to judge myself in a way that fuels shame for me. I am not suggesting anyone change how they think of their choices, but for me that is all it is "a choice." I chose with full knowledge to deviate from my healthful eating routine for a few days and chose to get back to bizzness with making healthier choices. That's all!

Weekend Check-In.
Been on target with new exercise routine, water, counting calories and cutting alcohol. Took Christmas Day off from all tracking although I stayed sensible. Definitely easier to stay on track without the traditional parties to attend.
Weight had gotten over 221...I'm thinking with the start of the new exercise strength program. Glad to see it is coming back down.

Same!! When I am home I enable the crap outta myself!! When I'm at work totally aware!! Whyyyyyyyy???? The comfort?? Lack of judgement??? What is it?? Too much free time!! Idle hands are the devil's workshop!! I dunno!! But this is a goal for 2021 mindful eating at home!!! Right there with ya!!8 -
Alright... Confession time!
I have eaten like crap for a month and put on a full 10 lbs from my lowest. I am down 1.6 to 175. This is a nice round 20 lbs to my target weight for the end of March. My personal goal is 165 for the end of January. This is getting off the holiday gain plus 1.6. I think this is doable.
I know that I have to get my head firmly back in the game. I have come way too far to back slide now!!!!8 -
Weigh in Tuesdays
12/5/20 Start Weight 146

Just weighed myself and I’m up to 148. Thankfully I don’t have any more food holidays left, but goal is now to try to get as close to 146 as I can before the 1st so that December is a wash.
Goals for today:
30 minute barre
45 minute bike
Drink at least 64 oz of water.

Good morning! Nice to see all the new names and faces. Welcome! One thing I have been doing is making and always keeping on hand, some kind of soup, usually vegetable. I basically put water, a couple boullion cubes (or chicken broth if I have it) and whatever veggies I have on hand (carrots, celery, brocolli, squash, onion etc) in a crock pot and let it cook for a few hours. A can of rinsed black beans or white beans will add fiber. Sometimes I put in some canned chopped tomatoes or a small can of v-8 juice. Season to taste. I try to avoid noodles or if I do, I just add a few. I find soup to be very filling and comforting on these chilly days. If I start my meal with soup, I definitely eat less of whatever else we are having.
Have a healthy day, Everyone!6 -
I am in. I am officially menopausal and the weight just keeps creeping up.
Highest weight of my life SW: 218
March 31 GW: 188
No processed foods and no white or added sugar or white flour and tracking every bite. Will use my amazing Nordictrack treadmill at least once a day.

I can so relate and the menopausal thing! The weight is so hard to lose and creeps up sooo quickly!!! We have the same food goal!!!4 -
Back to somewhat normal eating the past 2 days. Though I shouldn't jinx it the day is still young. I could do alot of damage between now and bedtime. Of course that ice cream cake and chocolate cake I made are whispering my name. Send Help!!6

I could help you dispose of that ice cream cake and chocolate cake. I would totally make that sacrifice, if I could.
I saw a little progress this morning, losing some of the weight I gained this past week.
Time to get back on track.6 -

I'm pretty sure "the menopausal thing" may be an issue this time around with weight loss.
Even so, I've read women who have still lost weight during all stages of life. So, I'm putting "the menopausal thing" out of my head and will remain in denial about it. I've chosen a plan of action, going to stay the course, evaluate monthly and tweak as needed.5 -
Hi Ruby,
Thank you for starting this challenge! As you can see I am in the process of losing 30 lbs. I got pretty close to my goal a couple months ago but I have wandered away from it -- especially during the holidays -- by foregoing honest daily food, exercise, and water logging and plunging into holiday overeating, stress eating, cookie munching, candy bingeing...uh oh...This morning I faced myself and my scale honestly and it is clear I'm going in the wrong direction with this. I want to get back on track toward meeting my weight goal and committing myself to a challenge has in the past really helped me do so. So here I am.
In past challenges I have found it helpful to check in weekly to report my weight so below I have laid out a Monday weigh-in schedule for January and February for myself that I will be updating weekly.
Thanks again for starting this challenge, Ruby, and good luck with it, everyone!

Since first joining this challenge about a week ago, I’ve been in pre- challenge mode. I have been planning how I am going to tackle this challenge successfully. My strategy is to improve consistency of healthy habits.
Every week I will meal plan, shop, prep and weigh in.
Every day I will do 30 min cardio and 20 min strength training.
Every day I will log meals and stay under calorie budget.
Every day I will drink 8 glasses of Water.
At the end of the month, I will take body measurements, see where I’m at and reassess. Hope to lose 1.5-2 lbs each week so about 20-25 lbs by March 31.
Thanks again for starting this, Ruby! I’ll update weekly.
I’m excited! Good luck everyone!

Happy Tuesday everybody! I hope everyone’s holidays went well. I definitely had a few too many treats over Christmas myself but got back on track soon after. The other day I ran for the first time in a few months and have been going on fairly regular walks. I weighed in for the first time since before Christmas and was pleasantly surprised. Hopefully I can keep this up!

Yes!!! That's what keeps me going too...other women lose weight at my age so why can't I!!! Denial can be a good thing and age is only a number!6 -
