Lisa- You made me laugh! My husband often says my warranty ran out when he married me! I was almost 50😉 Sonce we have been together since I was 31, another friend says he has heard of trying out, but not wearing out before committing!🤣

Allie- rest as you can. Prayers!

I always wanted to travel around the world. These days my thoughts are closer to home. The Smokies call my name often. At some point in time hopefully, I will travel the US.

    More later

HI everyone. Wow there are a lot of posts to read! I cannot find out what happened with Allie, can someone fill me in please?

Allie: what ever is going on that I have missed, my prayers are with you. It seems you need healing! So my best healing thoughts are coming your way.

Rory: So nice to see you! How is DH? And your brother? We will have to figure out a way to continue our occasional lunches! :)

Well the snow has stopped but the wind still is howling outside. We got about 3" but with 50-60 mph winds, it was total white out conditions this morning. I couldn't sleep at all last night, so slept in really late today and will have to make up some time doing real work tomorrow!

Boy, I'm having a hard time thinking of ONE meal. It might be: My mac & cheese...a whole baking dish full. Or, more reasonably: rib eye steak, king crab legs, broccoli with hollandaise sauce, Caesar salad (with the anchovies, of course), and tiramisu. A good stiff gin and tonic before hand and a nice pinot noir with dinner. Then someone would cart me out in a wheelbarrow!

I've had no ill effects from the vaccination; my arm isn't even sore!

Today my phone calendar popped up with "OUT DATE!" Today was DH's original out date. I'm so glad he got to come home early and that he didn't have to try to fly here in the blizzard! We are blessed. Over 3/4 of the inmates in his prison have been diagnosed with Covid. We have only heard of three who were taken to hospital. But still...

Take care ladies. I have missed you all!

:) 700 people got vaccines yesterday. They plan to vaccinate 600 more tomorrow. We plan to go early on Tuesday

Did 30 minutes of HIIT today. The plan for tomorrow is to do Denise Austin’s fat blasting Yoga DVD

Barbie – how disappointing! At least the policeman told you before you sat in line for hours and hours. I understand that’s what happened in FL. People sat in line for hours and hours only to be told that they ran out of vaccine

M – (((BIG HUG))) You and Rori are unbelievable

Oh, I’m so thrilled. They are now giving the vaccine to anyone 65 and older. I just got thru to make my appointment (after MANY tries) and I’m going Tuesday!!! Then getting the second shot on Feb. 9. Vince gave me a look and said “in FL?” No, I don’t care. I want the vaccine. We’ll still have time to get there. The race isn’t until the 13th. So if we have to leave on the 10th, so be it. But I’m getting the vaccine!!! To me, even if we had to miss the race, I would rather do that and get the vaccine. But we won’t have to. Oh, Tuesday can’t come soon enough for me. Other people who have gotten it at the same place I will have said that there wasn’t much of a wait at all, things went pretty well. I think this is the first time ever that I’ve been excited to get a needle. This pandemic has produced lots of first. First time I’ve ever been glad to be older….lol

PLUS...I am working next Thurs (the day I was supposed to go to the dentist but mistakenly went yesterday). Well, I called to cancel the appt and they had an opening at 9:30 on Tuesday! So it was a blessing in disguise that I made that mistake

Picked up my inserts. The one felt funny, like it was rubbing against my shoe. So the MD made an adjustment and now they feel fine. Then went to the Salvation Army. I didn't realize they closed at 5. Boy, were there a lot of people there buying a lot! Then went to Kohl's thinking that the pants I ordered from Amazon and need to return should be shipped at Amazon, only it's a UPS shipment. So I'll probably take them to UPS tomorrow.

Barbara – It may be a while before I get to the macramé. I probably want to do one or two ornaments first just to get it down. But I’m thinking that’ll be something different.

Where would I like to go? Most any place. I haven’t been able to do a lot of traveling. Vince traveled a lot for work while I was home with the kids. Now he doesn’t want to travel. That’s one of the reasons we got the pool. If I don’t get to go away, at least I have the pool.

Pip – I hope you get the condo

Katla – how wonderful that they could give you an actual date. I called yesterday (before they lowered it to 65) and they told me that they have no idea when it’ll be lowered. And then it was lowered to over 65 that afternoon.

Flea – congrats to your husband. That’s the first time I’ve heard of a vaccination card. Wonder if everyone gets it? He got it when he got the first shot?

    Jomc – welcome

Vince is taking down the trees. The Star Trek tree came down today. I packed up all the Christmas linens. Honestly, there weren't nearly as many out this year since we didn’t have as many people here.

Rori-Low key can be very good. After my husband died, I admit I felt a bit bad I didn’t have him around to buy me stuff for birthday and Christmas (even if it was just me telling him what to get). I now buy myself for those events that I think he would have like to get for me.

Barbara-Shingles vaccines gave me a very sore, hot arm for a few days. Also just general feeling of blah for a few days. A bit like a mild flu. Not intolerable but glad I got them over long weekends and didn’t have to work!

Julie-slow movement is better than no movement!

Debbie-So sorry to hear about your father. Glad you and the rest of the family are improving.

Kate UK-I had a 65 minute walk Sunday and it said 447 calories. If you go under exercise you should be able to tell it to recognize walk of longer than 15 minutes and set exercise goals for the week. I don't know if that is really accurate, but I typically don't eat all of them back and my weight does ok.

Machka-sorry to hear about your husband’s assessment. However, it can be good to have confirmation and not question if you are imagining things. I hope he is coping with it.

    Allie-continued prayers.

Very busy this week and had evening zoom commitments to boot.

Food—Actually, I would cherish my mother’s homemade chicken and noodles and one of her cherry pies. The steak, etc., I can always get-but mama’s cooking? Nope. And while I can make very decent chicken and noodles when I choose to—hers were truly magnificent.

Places to travel? I would like to go to Ireland and Scotland and do a more detailed visit to England (mainly stayed around my son’s base RAF Lakenheath0, got to many of the small villages, Cambridge and London-but would like to see more. Right now—I could go for anywhere out of town that didn’t have restrictions!

Vaccines-starting 80 and over here next week. My age group (65 and older) tentatively scheduled for February 8. Of course, it all depends on how much is sent out. Also heard today that the reserve doses they said early this week they were going to send out have already been sent so there is no large infusion coming. Don’t know what that does with everything. Nothing to do but to wait.

    Take care all,

Interesting article ... a few of those are good choices, I think. Photography, languages, getting fit. Depends what kind of travel you're interested in doing if/when we can travel again!

Travel skills: 10 things you can learn while waiting for international travel to resume
    https://www.traveller.com.au/travel-skills-10-things-you-can-learn-while-waiting-for-international-travel-to-resume-h1tcry

"So, you're grounded right now. No international travel. Even crossing state borders seems dicey.

You could spend this enforced layover wallowing in your own wanderlust-driven misery, which would be reasonable. Or, you could take the opportunity to better yourself, to gain new skills and qualifications to ensure that the next time you leave Australia's shores you'll get far more out of the experience than you would have before.

This enforced break is the ideal time to "upskill", to learn to do things you previously couldn't, to open up new ways of seeing, new ways of doing, and new ways of appreciating."

Next "getting to know you" question ...

If you could travel, where would you like to go? You can name a few places if you want.

How would you like to travel?

Backpackers style - public transportation & hostels?
    Cycletouring - bicycles & campgrounds?
Luxury - car rental & hotels?
    Some combination?
    Other?

My husband and I did a lot of travelling up to early 2018 ... and then it all came to a screeching halt.

If we could travel again the first thing I'd do is to fly to the mainland and see how my husband did with that. There are several places I'd like to see again, and I'd love to do at least one of the rail journeys: https://journeybeyondrail.com.au/

Then perhaps New Zealand. I would love to spend a couple weeks there.

Then we would give Canada a go ... to see my family. I expect I'd have to create an itinerary there with the shortest times in the air as possible.

If he was OK with travelling, our list included travel by air, train and bicycle:

    Japan - again but more
    South Korea
    UK - again but more
    France - again but more
    Switzerland - again but more
    Italy
    Serbia
    Greece
    Romania
The train across Russia - Trans-Siberian Railway

And then perhaps without the bicycles various other spots around the world.

If/when we move to Canada, I'd like to move to the lower mainland BC/Vancouver Island area, but I would like to spend some time exploring Quebec and the Maritimes.

Yes. They called it his "golden ticket." It has the date for his second shot. If he doesn't have the ticket, he doesn't get the second shot.

I am glad to hear some of you are beginning to get the vaccine. This is good news all around.

He's all right. He thinks he's still improving and will continue to do so. He's got all sorts of plans for things he'd like to do and he's enthusiastic about trying things. :)

I will keep encouraging him ... even though I have my doubts that some of his plans will happen. I figure it would be worse to discourage him and have him lose hope and enthusiasm.

After all, I wasn't sure if we'd pull off the canoeing thing but he was enthusiastic, and I approached it step by step (a lot more planning on my part than there used to be) and we got there! :)

    Hi Gals,

Lisa – ok I really don’t think of you as a princess, not nearly high maintenance to be a princess.

    Allie ((((((((hugs))))))))))))))

Meal I want to many things so I am thinking a number of small tastes…. Smoked salmon cream cheese pinwheels with champagne, then a nice salad, butternut or pumpkin ravioli with brown butter sage sauce and a skewer of roasted veggies with a shiraz, then a raspberry or lingonberry pie…. Oh I might not be able to stuff all that in!

Travel Where - Montana, great barrier reef, Boston, Country Cork, Puerto Rico, Miami, Tuscany for a cooking class

Travel how – camping road trip, fly and stay with friends or AirB+B

I have this ancient wall heater it’s gas and the thermostat works somehow or another without any power..well with the electrical power generated by a spring… oh it’s all above my interest level, but suffice it to say that it broke before Thanksgiving and I have put in 3 since then…. And not a one of them is of high enough quality to last more that a few days… the current one decided to give up today and I have created a jumper (like a jumper cable but only with roach clips and 8 inches of wire) and have MacGyver’d it. I have with the help of an electrical engineer neighbor figured out what’s wrong it’s a weird unstable solder but so tiny that it is almost unfixable… so I’ll bend wires or use my jumper for a while.

Flea – I wonder if I’ll get a vaccine card? That would be nice to have.

M – I wonder if your husband understands what the assessment really meant. It’s good if he doesn’t and continues as he is…looking forward to a bright future.

What I wouldn’t give to have my babci’s (grandmother’s) punchiki, crusciki, and babka (?sp). No matter what I do, I could never replicate hers

I'm taking our Christmas decorations down today. :(

Seems to me someone mentioned something about allergies and Christmas trees.

This year we did something different with our Christmas tree and I have loved it! It probably does collect some dust but it doesn't have that dusty smell the other trees did.

    Happy Anniversary Barbie

Sue Glad to hear your family are doing okay and recovering from Covid.

Had a Zoom catch up with my friends last night, we started last Friday but I had a few problems working out how to put the audio on. They could see me but not hear me, then they could hear me but not see me :D Managed to get it sorted out but didn't have long to talk as the free hour goes quite quickly. Last night was much better and we had a good catch up. We are all missing seeing each other in person, but this was a nice way to keep in touch.

Going back a bit now, but my first job was a Saturday Job working in Woolworths - to save up for my holiday with mum and dad - I was about 14yrs old. My first full time job was working as an office junior in a building company. I did typing and filing and oh my goodness stencils for the forms for the builders to complete. I had to put them on the printer (by hand very messy) and roll the drum around to make copies and fill the drum up with ink! After about a year I moved on to working in a Solicitors office working reception, typing Wills and Contracts etc. One of the solicitors specialised in divorce and when his secretary was on leave I helped out by typing some of the statements - very racy for a naive young girl :D

The weather is still icy here so not venturing out too far (if at all) so I did a Lesley Sansone DVD yesterday as walking is the only thing I can manage exercise wise. Even that was uncomfortable, but feel I need to start trying to get back to normal - I can get lazy very easily >:) the less I do the less I want to do!

Time for breakfast. It is raining so hopefully most of the ice will have melted and I'll be able to pop and see mum later this morning.

    Take care <3

I'm up at 1:51 am. I woke up worrying about vaccinations. I saw an interview on TV last evening with a man in charge of the health group that includes our doctor. He said they would be able to vaccinate. I hope that turns out to be true. Going to a place where we've had our health care and other vaccinations makes me feel more safe. Right now, I need to go back to bed. Best wishes to all.

"Get to do"s and "chose well"s
Chose well: BP, called Dr for appt clarification and to send rx to new pharmacy, took 5 transfers but finally succeeded in cancelling VSP, updated Amazon Prime, iTunes & AAA payment info, finished minutes and emailed.
Bonus: 34 mins decluttering keyboard & desk, reconciled Medicare Part D EOBs all while procrastinating about minutes.
Get to do: take BP, dogs to powerline, call S, Freddies for ink to print minutes, deliver minutes to Howard, mail minutes to attendees, grant info followup to Bill and ask for Ronda’s email address, research effective conflict resolution, ask Howard and Hill about roster numbering system, index mutual aid files, watch STAS Day 20, submit grant pics and receipts, make experimental almond paste, declutter sideboard, practice new dances (Pure Movies to Wine, Beer, Whiskey, Sleeping with the Devil, I ain’t never gonna love nobody but Cornell Crawford (Alley cat), A Little Less Broken, One Margarita, I’m so used to being broke, All Night, Nothing but You, Blame it on my beating heart, Homesick); finish mulching flowerbed; broadcast cover crop seed in veg garden areas, invest another 10 minutes in prepping living trust, Freddie’s for complete series TDAP <$48, get Shingrix vaccine, find and configure a screen time popup, figure out where to plant naked lady bulbs, and soon as it warms up above 50 and dries out below 60% humidity I’ll tape and spray paint those rusted areas of Aunt Elsie’s stove. Reconcile Joe’s EOB’s Thrivent shows only 2263.48 so far, next BGBS ask Terry about GB’s FD firetruck tax levy – contacts, media, advocate???, Mondayday: call Wild Rivers (541 247 3514) for dog wash/nail trim appointments, meet Susan and Ronda at fire hall and show which fields on the new form need info from call sheets.
Reward: inventory seeds, plan next year’s garden, wishlist replenishments,
    Happier January:
16: Get outside and notice five things that are beautiful: Really need this as spent all Friday in the office, lashed to the laptop.

Pip Fingers X’d! Oooh a pool! Is it near any trails?
Rita was right there bingeing with you yesterday. Did NOT need those 4 cookies and piece of toffee. Today is a new day.
Allie Lord indeed. 10 vials??? ((hugs)
Katla the governor’s news today about UNavailability of promised Federal vaccines is devastating. Also confusing/frustrating is that https://sharedsystems.dhsoha.state.or.us/DHSForms/Served/le3527.pdf says you and your DH are Sequence 1A, group 3,
But all the news talks about 65+ as a 1B (groups 2-5) sequence with educators (group 1). Even more frustrating for those of us in underpopulated, remote, rural counties is the prioritizing of centralized, mass vaccination “events.” Can’t you just see our medically fragile seniors driving 4+ hours over narrow twisting roads for a chance at a vaccine? What could possibly go wrong?
Welcome @jomc20 from Central MT! Would you let us know what you’d like to be called?
    Rebecca Fingers Xd.
Lisa your “best by date” comment made me grin. Alas, I’ve been smelling funny for quite awhile.
Kylia that was one heck of a trial period!
Meg “my mac’n’cheese” Mine too ;)
    Barbie good luck Tuesday!
Ginny you reminded me how much I loved Mama’s chicken and dumplings, cooked in an old fashioned pressure cooker. Never was able to make them taste like she did.
Machka your train comment reminded me of another travel bucket wish: across Canada, especially the Rockies, by rail. Had my first birthday on a train and it’s still my favorite mode. Brava for keeping your DH's spirits up and taking the extra trouble for activities like the canoeing!
Flea I was thinking something like the vaccination records we had as school children, but  that “golden ticket.”
    Kim atta MacGyverGal!
Viv Brava for getting back to walking indoors despite your injuries. Hope the discomfort eases soon.
Welcome @lindablueeyes21 ! Would you let us know what you’d like to be called and your general locale? This is a great thread for support and motivation, but many of us don’t do the “friend” thing, just chat with each other here. Jump right in, the water’s fine!

Procrastinated/struggled all day with the fire hall minutes. Did invest time decluttering the keyboard (half done) and scrubbing the porcelain in Joe’s bathroom. Anything but get down to work. Finally done, but can’t print, even black and white, because the blue ink is out. Pfaugh!

    Lighter, lovelies!
