Day/Weight/Comment
02/11 - 204.4. A good start. Kept my calories under goal on Wednesday, though didn't manage to get in a walk as work was really busy.
02/12 - 203.2. Keeping this in perspective - probably just stabilisation of water weight. Plus I'm planning an indulgent weekend. Not been able to go to the cinema for a year, so bringing the cinema home, complete with big screen, popcorn (with butter, I'm afraid) and sweets. So by Monday, this loss may have evaporated a bit. But For now I'm enjoying seeing the drop.
02/13 - DNW
02/14 - DNW
02/15 - 205.2 I expected this. I had a bad weekend. Entirely planned, as noted above. I was still within my target calorie deficit for the last week, so am hoping this is mainly water weight rather than actual gain, and that it will come off once I'm back to eating less sugar and salt.
02/16 - 206.8. Yuck. The exertions of the weekend really catching up with me. Had a good day on Monday - was under calories (although not that active). But my scale is showing water % at 55, which is the highest it's been, so assume a lot of water weight still from the weekend.
02/17 - 206.8. Another quite inactive day. Was under calories - though not by as much as usual since it was Pancake Day! Water %age still pretty high (55%) so hoping that once that starts coming down, I'll drop back at least to where I was before last weekend. 203 lbs as a goal for this round looks unlikely to be achieved though
02/18 - 204.8. A good day. Under calories and went for a run - restarted Couch to 5K at week 2 (having completed Couch to 5K before Christmas). Think maybe starting to shift some water weight after an indulgent weekend.

Day/Weight/Comment
02/11 - 146
02/12 - 146.5 - OK, it's time to get serious about getting back down to maintenance weight. I pulled out the food scale this morning and I'm logging everything. After 3 years of daily weighing and losing/maintaining my weight, you would think I would have it down by now, but the reality is that without using the food diary and the food scale, I give myself too much leeway in the amount and what I eat. That works fine when I weigh 142 or 143, but not when I'm trying to lose several pounds.
02/13 - 145.5 - I came home from work last night and my newly retired husband had made spinach lasagna and homemade garlic bread. I measured out enough to stay below maintenance calories, but I won't be surprised if the sodium and carbs hit tomorrow. Plenty of water today!
02/14 - 144.5 - I don't trust this number, but I'll take it!
02/15 - 146.5 - More carbs and sodium yesterday, so this is not a surprise. I'll probably leave the office a little early today to beat the winter storm heading our way. I hope everyone else stays safe over the next day.
02/16 - 146 - The scale flashed between 145 and 146, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow.
02/17 - 145 - OK!
02/18 - 144.5 - There is a young man (and he is overweight) in my office who is a nice guy, but he is obnoxious when it comes to food. He knows that I, along with a couple others in my office try to watch what we eat. At least once a week he brings in cake, cookies, donuts, brownies, etc. That is fine except he walks over to me and waves the food in front of me and "jokingly" asks me if I want a piece. When I usually say no, he'll bug me about it throughout the day and he leaves it at the end of his desk where I pass by it 10 times a day. Yesterday, after 4 years of this, I reached my breaking point with brownies. After his 3rd try to get me to take one, I took a half piece of brownie. I ate one bite, and told him it wasn't worth the calories and wrapped the rest up and threw it in the trash. It felt kind of like a b**** move, but we will see if he keeps bugging me with sweets. I guess I'm getting old and grumpy.

Day/Weight/Comment
02/11 176.0 excellent food day; tracked everything and stayed under calorie goal; 5.29 mile bike, 1.36 mi walk
02/12 174.2 Yay!!! Lost back what I gained in Florida and then some. I’ve done much better on food the last few days, staying with lots of vegetables and protein, and tracking everything.
02/13 173.0 Finally, real progress again this round. Just hope I can keep it up. Celebrated Valentine’s Day last night with hubby and did just fine. Will celebrate with the kids on Sunday. Got in a walk at lunch yesterday as a break from work. Love it when I can make that happen.
02/14 173.0 Another really good food day, and got in an 8.7-mile ride too. No walk in the cold rain, but the bike felt great last night. Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!
02/15 173.6 I did pretty well on Valentine’s Day, food wise, and got in an 8-mile ride on the bike, but I did splurge a little on two chocolate covered strawberries and a half a serving of ice cream after dinner. But I did not use yesterday as an excuse to eat all the things! Will get back on track today so I can keep the 173.xx and make this a great round. Already have lunch packed.
02/16 172.0 This probably won’t hold. Didn’t eat much yesterday due to some stressors, but I’m happy about the weight loss for the day. Did 8.49 miles on the bike.
02/17 171.4 Finally some real progress this round, but don’t expect it to stay quite this low till the end. I’m sure there will be a bounce back up soon. Want to hold on to as much of the loss as possible, though.
02/18 171.2 Had a good food day yesterday, so I’m pleased to see there hasn’t been a bump up yet. Tweaked my back a little yesterday, so no real exercise. Hoping to try the bike a little today and see how it goes.

Love for myself—100-Mile Challenge—Total So Far = 79.9
Love for others—Random Acts of Kindness and other things I love:
2/11 Love a beautiful day in the middle of winter! It was 64 here yesterday, definitely felt like spring (although I know it is fleeting) so I got in a good walk at lunch. Amazes me just how much that helps me be more productive in the afternoon.
2/12 Love that I am in Chapter 77 of @SheilaBoneham’s book and there are so many viable suspects that I don’t yet have this “who done it” figured out. ;-)
2/13 Handed out a random compliment to a stranger last night, and again, faces just light up when you do that!
2/14 Loving on my family yesterday—putting together a Little Tykes Princess car for the one-year-old light of my life, and preparing to celebrate with daughter and hubby today.
2/15 Left a very nice tip with a Happy Valentine’s note to the server at dinner last night.
2/17 I love my first cup of coffee in the mornings. I usually spend it with this group as I read the posts from the day before and create my own. Happy Wednesday, everyone!
2/18 Thankful for the fact that even though so many others in our nation are without power in the snow/ice, we have heat in spite of the layer of ice that covers everything (hope it holds). Also, love that schools are on virtual learning today, so I can do my job in my yoga pants, favorite sweatshirt, and fuzzy house shoes.7 -

I wouldn't feel the least bit bad about that! The guy is obviously a jerk, but sadly, is probably too much of one for your actions to prevent him from continuing his bad behavior. One thing someone shared with me on another group that helps me with office treats is this: when you see sweets someone has brought and you are tempted, think about someone sneezing all over them or in the days of Covid now, think about others having touched them all before picking out the one they wanted. It does make it easier to walk away.
Don't get me wrong, I'd have probably tried the brownie too, as chocolate is my kryptonite. Proud of you for standing up for yourself!6 -

Day/Weight/Comment
02/11 - 169.4 I don't mind pops-&-drops, but I gotta get a handle on this scale creep. At least it is early in the round. 9 more days to figure it out.
02/12 -169.5
02/13 -167.7 persistent attack after the SuperBowl splurge finally paid off.
02/14 - 168.3 may all your hearts be happy today!
02/15 - 168.9 feeling bloated and mean. Several possible explanations for the pop, but I choose sodium. Ate lunch at a newly opened restaurant in our little town. (It was so good!) Only ate 1/2 a reg size Rueben, a few of my daughter's fries and the hub's green beans. Wish I could have logged to see to impact but impossible to really know for sure when someone else cooks. Plan to pound water today in hopes for a just as large drop tomorrow.
02/16 - 168.1 Feels like 167.9;)
02/17 - 167.7 13-hour work day. 4 hours of that being new tool training. My poor rear.:#Scale still popping and dropping all over the place. (I feel your struggle@_JeffreyD_--I used to trend consistently down but also dread the morning weigh now) Hoping the round ends on a downward trend. Would really like to have a 6 in the scale's third position.

@quiltingjaine My boyfriend is supportive and he's trying to lose weight as well. We both gained a lot in the last year with limited (ie, pretty much zero) options for evening entertainment outside the home. Of course he's losing it much faster than I am! He's more disciplined than I am overall. I tend to go to extremes. I don't like to fast if I have some outdoor outing requiring a lot of endurance or a meeting requiring lots of brainpower, so I work around these things.

2/11 – 199 – 11,116 steps, 40 min aerobics yesterday. All I want to do today is lie in bed. I’m not exaggerating when I say I got out of bed so I could weigh in and check in for this challenge. Thanks, everyone. Now I’m off to walk the beagles. Fasting today and focusing on self-care. Hope to start a book my brother sent me.
2/12 – 197.2 – 10,535 steps yesterday. Feels good to still be in Onederland (at least for today!). Fasted yesterday, so this weight is likely to increase tomorrow. Focus today on eating mindfully. Fighting a little hormone- and pandemic-related depression, but doing fine, SModa – thanks for asking!
2/13 – 199.8 – 10,456 steps, 50 min aerobics, 10 min weights yesterday. EEK! Ate too much food and lots of sodium yesterday. Focus today on eating mindfully.
2/14 – 201.6 – 10,327 steps, 40 min aerobics yesterday. ARGHHHHHHH! This is frustrating. Really going backwards the last couple of days. Today is not going to be easy as it is Valentine’s Day. Focus on eating mindfully.
2/15 – 202.8 – 14,813 steps yesterday. Yowzers. Not good. Not good. I overate again yesterday in to the night. I’ve got to take control. Splitting headache this morning. Hoping to fit in a fast today but not sure it will be possible with my boyfriend off work. Focus on mindful eating, no eating between meals, skip dinner and/or breakfast if not possible to fast all day. Avoid/limit cheese, meat, sodium, added sugar.
2/16 – 199.4 – 10,031 steps yesterday. Made so much great progress at the start of this round. Trying hard not to feel defeated and give up. Really having to force myself to exercise today, but here I go. Focus on eating mindfully. Do weight workout today.
2/17 – 200.2 – 10,188 steps yesterday. I think I’m fighting some illness. No energy whatsoever and fell asleep at 7 p.m. last night. At least I’m getting my steps in.
2/18 – 200.2 – 11,027 steps, 60 min aerobics, 10 min weights yesterday. Chances of ending this round up from my start weight looking good. Eating too much the last week – as simple as that – along with hormones, etc. Today and tomorrow all about veggies and exercise. Getting my hair done for the first time since September tonight even though I haven’t reached the weight for that reward. Had to leave my stylist of 10+ years because another stylist and her client weren’t wearing masks last time I was at her salon (my stylist is the owner). All of it gets so tiring. Great to see many getting the vaccine and look forward to my turn.

02/18 192.9 It is something. I am swollen up like a balloon right now. I don’t feel bad though. Would love to end the round under 192 but I don’t foresee that happening. 35th anniversary of my father’s passing happens this weekend and my sister is frying chicken. I don’t really get sad anymore but it’s hard on my Mom. So we get together and have comfort food or better yet go out somewhere but not in COVID world. Roll out of the vaccine is moving slowly up in Massachusetts. If I didn’t work for a hospital I would not be vaccinated. I got it before my cousins who her are nurses. 1 in New York and 1 in Massachusetts.

I like to track averages due to my wild fluctuations. For the same reason, I like to weigh daily so I can see the lows from time to time. It gives me hope.
Round 141
Month/Day: Exercise / Comment
02/11: 213.6
When I see some of you friends whose weight does not fluctuate up and down but moves steadily down, I just wonder how! My “system” seems to be like a semi-truck trailer that is either loaded or unloaded. I cross my fingers every morning when I go through the weigh station, hoping I am not over the legal limit!
I know… I am weird.
If I had to weigh the same every morning it would be impossible. We are all different, but we have common ground don’t we?

Happy Friday!
02/13: 213.2
This makes zero sense after last evening. Supper was a cheese and crackers plate, with a frozen pizza for the main course. I was pretty good prior to that.
On a side note, DW and I exchanged valentines last night. Our 45th (41st as married.) As I read her card for me aloud, something must have gotten into my eyes. 😊 Had to reach for a Kleenex. She laughed. Ha!

Obviously, I am in one of my off-loading periods. Maybe because I am getting at least a little bit of exercise removing snow from my drive and walk. Oh, and there is that thing about not carbo-loading. At any rate, I touched my lowest reading of 2021.

@UTMom81 have you noticed the progress you are making this round? FIRE!
@starrjulia8 You are gorgeous--so confident in your new pix. Keep standing strong even if he heard you this time. Not sure your whole story but feels like he has a pattern of returning to bad behavior.
@Honey_Pumpkin39 love your positive self talk in your daily posts. I feel continued progress coming your "weigh". (Couldn't resist the pun but the sentiment is real!)
@musicsax I give blood on Saturday. Thanks for the reminder about the impact of those tasty rewards. Hoping a pint's a pound down for me!
@_JeffreyD_ Congrats on your lowest weight of the year--gotta love the benefits of shoveling snow!
Keep working for YOU everyone. Love hearing about your journeys--both the wins and the trials provide us all great insight. Let's finish R141 strong!7 -

Goal weight for this round: Maintain in the 115-117ish range.
Another goal: Actually check-in each day and weigh daily.
Previous days02/11 116.0 Had a .8 whoosh overnight, so I’ll take it. I’m planning to eat at maintenance today but it’ll be spent on good for me foods like a couple more ounces of nice and lean pork tenderloin and roasted veggies. I went into the office today and spent the day with my manager and our clinical nurse manager. It was nice to connect in person and we were able to get part of a project done too!02/15
02/12 115.4 I’ll continue to take these whooshes. It has inspired me to not get takeout tonight and just find myself something more manageable at Trader Joe’s for a “Friday night easy dinner”. Dinner last night was so filling for me that I didn’t even have room for everything I had portioned out. I ended up choosing butternut squash and potatoes to roast with the pork tenderloin plus a bit of quinoa too. My husband was craving Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner so he got that, but I stuck with the pork tenderloin and he is having some of the pork for his lunch today. I was tempted with takeout but after realizing that I didn’t want a 1,400 calorie dinner it was easy to pass on.
02/13 Did not weigh but ate pretty well all day and treated myself to mochi cake. I figure 200 caloires over is much better than 800 or more with getting takeout. So I’d call Saturday a win for myself 😊.
02/14 Haven’t weighed yet but TOM arrived, so I’m going to be kind to myself and eat at maintenance today. I have my spin on a split pea soup in the croc pot right now. I’m making the soup with a mixed bone broth that has been in the croc pot since Friday afternoon. I used a combo of mostly chicken bones with a few beef and pork bones mixed in. I typically have a zip loc bag in my freezer that I’ll throw bones in after dinner and sometimes other veggies scraps. When the bag gets full, I toss it all in the croc pot and let it simmer until I feel it’s “right”. I also added about 30 g of bacon to it to give a little smokey flavor because I couldn’t find the type of meat I wanted at Trader Joe’s for it. Regardless, it should be tasty because of the rich bone broth used and sauteed onion, carrots, leeks, celery and garlic I tossed in as well.

02/17 116.2
02/18 It has been a crazy week. Work has been a bit stressful. I thankfully got my second dose of the vaccine, but had some effects so I laid low for a day. Then, yesterday I had a busy work day and running around afterwards. My food has been pretty good luckily, just maybe high on sodium and carbs(possible reason for the uptick). Tuesday, all I ate were crackers, fruit, and then Thai Tom Kha soup with a little bit of rice noodles and sticky rice with mango. Tuesday I had a post vaccine fever and when I have a fever all I want is light food and my husband offered to pick up Thai on his way home for dinner and I took him up on it. Last night I grabbed us sandwiches for dinner but was still able to stay within a 100 calorie deficit. Sleep was weird last night which made me hungry for breakfast a lot earlier than normal. I’m rambling now but I will catch up on people’s posts this weekend. Holy moly I just noticed the end of the round is this weekend. When did that happen?!?

02/20
02/11 Grateful that everything is rolling along for our basement renovation and found out today that it shouldn’t take as long as expected. We are still putting in some cushion with our timeline, but this is all very exciting!
02/12 I’m grateful for my physical therapist that I’m heading to see in a few minutes. She has made such a difference for me! I did a quick 20 minute yoga session this morning and plan to do a 30 minute spin bike ride this afternoon.
02/13 Was able to do a 45 minute spin bike ride and nice long heart opening vinyasa yoga video yesterday afternoon. I also did more hip and pelvic floor stretches after, which felt so good!
02/14 I love my husband! We are having a lazy day because he got his 2nd dose of the vaccine and just feels a bit weird/off. Today I plan to do some yoga but I’m not sure what length of time I’m in the mood for.
02/15 Yoga and spin bike for 20 minutes.
02/16 Grateful for the second dose of the covid vaccine and my not so fun natural immune response to it. No exercise today though.
02/17
02/18 Got in some yoga this morning plan to ride the bike at some point.

Got my first COVID shot yesterday. I feel fortunate to live in a city & state where vaccination is going smoothly. One of today’s projects is some behavior design a la Dr. B.J. Fogg’s Tiny Habits — I’m trying small changes to make snacking more difficult and small exercise habits easier. Excellent book, btw.
❤️ Looking through nursery catalogs and day-dreaming about my garden.
2/12 - 185 - 1412
That’s catch up from very high calories last round. It’s ok, will come back off. I’m planning an easy day, unless I feel better later — very woozy this morning, which I’m sure is from my vaccine. Good excuse to sit and read (not that I need an excuse!)
❤️ Watching Mike the cat as he watches birds out the window, and listening to his comments.
2/13 - 183 - 1572
That’s better. I don’t know why I went so nuts on calories last round, but I feel back in control.
❤️ Going through my yarn stash — the colors, the feel of the various fibers, the visions of what can be, the urge to start something new.
2/14 - 183.4 - 1226
Yesterday was a good day. Wishing you all a lovely Valentine’s Day!
❤️ Silly Valentine rhymes.
2/15 - 183 - 1270
Today I begin a two-week news semi-fast in an effort to lose some of the emotional weight of the past few months. My plan is to check once a day for updates on COVID and the weather and to ignore the rest as much as possible. I can’t help but think that tuning out the craziness and tuning in instead to learning something new and doing something creative with that time will cut into my emotional food snarfing. The last time I did this I found myself craving salads 🥗, steamed veggies 🥦, nuts🥜, and fruit 🫐 instead of sugar and salt. I’ll letcha know!
❤️ Listening to uplifting songs from singers whose voices fill my heart. This morning, I am lifted by Mercedes Sosa singing Gracias a la Vida (on YouTube).
2/16 - 183 - 1511
Everyone ok out there in snowland? I’m not sure what our official count was, but my 16 inch planters on the back patio are completely covered and snow in the yard is higher than the seat on my garden bench. Wheee! Our lovely neighbor blew off our driveway and sidewalks. I shoveled the walk to the front door and that was plenty. Be safe and warm out there!
❤️ Seeing bunny tracks in the snow.
2/17 - 183 - 1486
It’s very cold and very sunny here today — I’m enjoying the bright light and looking out at the snow from my cozy house. My attention to daily meditation & mostly mindful eating seems to be sinking in as I’m not snacking like I was for the past while, and I’m consciously enjoying what I do eat. I did another of my geeky calculations yesterday, comparing my weekly average calories to weekly moving average weight since last May and found that 1500 calories seems to be the magic number for me — through that whole time, despite the difference in my activity level, when my calories averaged below 1500 I lost weight, and when they were higher I stayed steady or gained. So I’ve adjusted my goal to 1500 max. for now. Hard to argue with long term data.
❤️ Having the tools to make record keeping, calculating, and planning easy peasy.
2/18 - 184 - 1472
That’s weird. Oh, the ups & downs. Sooner or later my grasping fat cells will have to let go some of their precious cargo.
❤️ The fragrance of coffee when it first starts to drip.

That's just rude and not respectful of your wishes. I can understand your actions due to years of pent-up frustration. He should have gotten the point of you saying "No" for so long.6 -

Don’t gaslight yourself! He’s the one who’s rude. In fact, I see this behavior as a form of aggression. No is no, whether it’s food, alcohol, sex,.... I was going to suggest you say something like, “Do you really want me to take someone thing I don’t want? Okay,” and then take one and toss it without even tasting. Also, and this shows how grumpy I get about “pushers”!, I wonder if this qualifies as workplace harassment. Any chance you could speak to your boss or to HR about it?7 -

@jaccimc63 YAY for you! I was the “office baker” when I worked but I never waved stuff in anyone’s face. I do remember once when my boss brought donuts and offered me the “jelly” (my favorite) and I took it and said I was saving it for later. He was surprised that it sat on my desk all day. At the time, I was allowing myself one treat per day. I took it home and enjoyed it after dinner. Be strong - your co-worker is rude!
Additionally, unless those brownies are “from scratch” they have no chance of me liking them. I would be inclined to say, “oh, they’re from a box.” And toss it. I know that’s rude too but I KNOW I’m a crotchety old woman!5 -

Day/Weight/Comment
02/10 …..207.2 ….. ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND
02/11 …..206.8 ….. Very pleased to see it lower on the scale after travel. Let’s hope it doesn’t show up in the days to come. I could have made better choices for sure.
02/12 …..206.0 ….. Sodium all gone. Long hair appointment today. That should limit my window of calories.
02/13 …..206.0 ….. I had a bit of a binge with my snacking last night. However, my meals were minimal and healthy so the scale was not too badly affected. I will try to have an extra well-planned day today although a work crew will be back. Happy with the scale today overall.
02/14 …..206.4 ….. A glucose drop last night for the first time in a minute. Some extra calories at the end of the day.
02/15 …..208.8 ….. WTH? OMAD yesterday with one meal, though a bit starchy. 2 ½ pounds? I have no idea…….
02/16 …..207.2 ….. Back where I started at the top of the challenge. I pushed a little extra water yesterday due to the obvious sodium disaster (?), but not enough. I will work on drinking even more today.
02/17 …..204.6 ….. Yay! All the sodium is gone most likely! I made some really good choices yesterday. And I kept my night time snack to a square of 85% cacao dark chocolate. No exercise to speak of as I had a full work crew here yesterday (expecting them back today.) But I will be grateful and thankful of what I can do. One of my crewmen brings his family. A wife and adult son. They sit at my kitchen table all day even though they live one minute from my home. The other night he worked until 11:15 pm. When I say they are here all day, I am not kidding. He is a very slow but thoughtful and precise worker. I did figure out a simple solution to my eating problem when so many people are here. I bought some high protein slimfast and I have been making myself a shake during the day. It will help keep my glucose from dropping and will satisfy me for awhile. I don’t have to cook and eat in front of anyone. I make my shake and sip. It’s solves my problem. On another note, I slept 6 hours and 5 minutes last night which was AMAZING. Maybe it helped the scale a bit too?
02/18 …..204.4 ….. I just couldn’t get enough food last night. The meatless spaghetti I made using spaghetti squash (small portion) just wasn’t enough. I’ve taken that into consideration since I am having leftovers for dinner tonight. I will have to add something healthy on the side. Pleased with the small drop anyway since there was some late-night eating. Thankfully I kept to good choices.
02/19 …..xxxxx …..
02/20 …..xxxxx …..02/01 I am grateful for my ability to retire early at age 60. I am beginning to finally feel better rested and more in control of my life. Owning 2 motels and cabins left me working 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, with never a day off. The businesses were located on my home property so there was never any rest, peace or privacy. The number of employees – 1. Just me and the occasional handyman I would hire if the job was above my skill set. What will I do for the rest of my life? As a widow, travel is a bit scary. I am not sure yet. But hopefully I will have lots of time to figure it out.
02/02 I love my new house. It is old and smoky and needs lots of updating and work but I love the possibilities. Mostly I love that it allows me to have a separate apartment in the basement for my adult disabled son. I love we can work harder on independence for him.
02/03 I love the frontline workers who allow me to shelter safely in my home while they are out on the frontlines battling this virus. Thank you to each and everyone of them. I hope you feel the love and respect.
02/04 I love my children and grandchildren. Without them, life would be meaningless. Thank you to God for placing them in my life.
02/05 I love my 3 new squirrel friends. All black squirrels, so shiny and beautiful. One is a little piggy and doesn’t want the other 2 to eat so I will have to work on that. I call him Ziffel (after Arnold the pig from Green Acres). Squirrel #2 is really skinny because Ziffel doesn’t share very often. I call him Green Bean (after the skinny Hee Haw character). # 3 only comes around about 2 times a week. He is always frustrated by Ziffel and always gets the shortest end of the stick. I call him Darren Stevens (after the hubby in Bewitched). I guess the names I have chosen is showing my age! In any case, I love all 3 of them.
02/06 I love chocolate. There is no getting around that. I am constantly trying to find ways to satisfy that craving without tipping the boat over during my journey. There it is. I honestly LOVE chocolate.
02/07 I love the memories I have with all my loved ones, especially those that have passed. Some memories are becoming fleeting for me, others rise to the surface with incidents’ that I long ago thought I had forgotten. Memories with my brothers & sisters. My cousins. My school friends. My past pets. I love that, through memories, they are with me always.
02/08 I love when I can make a difference in someone’s life. No matter how big or small.
02/09 I love every pet I’ve ever owned. I am thankful that since I have been out on my own (1980) I have cremated every doggy and kitty. They are now able to move with me. I love they are here with me in my new home.
02/10 I love sleep. It is hard for me to sleep as long as I would like. I am usually a 4 hour girl. In retirement I have started getting more 5 hour nights and am slipping back down to the 3 and 4 hour nights less often. I am trying hard to sleep longer but it just doesn’t seem to come for me. However, I do love sleep. The less I get, the more precious it is to me.
02/11 I love plants & flowers. It will be exciting what I can do with the landscape in my new home. Planting in my area of Michigan (zone 4) usually can’t begin until the end of Mary or beginning of June so I impatiently wait.
02/12 I love no alarm clock days. Today was not one of them but I know that today is the day that the Lord hath made, so I will be glad and rejoice in it.
02/13 I love a good book or movie and a hot cup of tea in the evening with no disruptions. I don’t get it very often, so when I do, it is so so appreciated and enjoyed.
02/14 Self Love: I love my strength and determination as a woman. I really feel I have made my own mark on the world in my professional life and my personal one too. My start in life was meager and difficult. I love that I overcame so much and reached such wonderful goals. I need to apply the same strength to my weight.
02/15 I love my morning coffee and appreciate it when no one tries to talk to me until I get in at least one sip.
02/16 I love a good hike in our beautiful national forest that is nearby. It is very rustic and follows the river. So beautiful that I just want to hug every tree and thank them for being a part of my life. I can’t wait for the snow and ice to melt, the birds to start chirping and the trails to be safe again. Spring can’t come soon enough!
02/17 I love MFP for offering this forum to us. I love “Just give me 10 days” especially. I love the support that you all bring to my life. The ideas. The remedies. The hope for progress and health in my own life. I love how open and honest you share your journeys, but also your struggles and triumphs on many things in your life. Thank you to all of you for the caring and the sharing!
02/18 I love my memories. The ability to go back and pull your lost loved ones back into your life, even for a moment, is a true gift from God.6 -

Round 141
Age: 39
Height: 5’ 3”
SW: 163
CW: 127.4
GW: 125
GW for this round: 126.5
Round 135 (10): 136.6 to 133.6 (-3.0 lbs)
Round 136 (11): 133.6 to 133.2 (-0.4 lbs)
Round 137 (12): 133.2 to 131.8 (-1.4 lbs)
Round 138 (13): 131.8 to 130.2 (-1.6 lbs)
Round 139 (14): 130.2 to 128.8 (-1.4 lbs)
Round 140 (15): 128.8 to 127.4 (-1.4 lbs)
Goals for this round:
- Walk at least 1.75 miles with the dog each night
- Export my data from the various programs I’m using and combine into one spreadsheet for analysis
- Enjoy Valentine’s Day and my son’s birthday without guilt
2/11 - DNW - Yesterday was a tough day - my son rolled a ball behind the couch and I bent down to get it at the same time as he jumped up to scream about it. The back of his head smashed into my face/nose. He’s fine, thank goodness, but I saw stars and was in a lot of pain the rest of the day. I didn’t move much; I didn’t cook (we did take out for dinner); and I definitely didn’t track any calories. I don’t know what the scale would be this morning, but I don’t think it’s representative of where I’m actually starting this round.
2/12 - 128.8 - NOT the number I wanted to see on the scale this morning. It’s ok, it’s temporary, and it will certainly be motivation to stick to my meal plan this round - no more extra snacking! Thank you to everyone who expressed sympathy - I’m doing much better. Still some pain, but nothing too bad. The little guy just has a really hard head! 😂
2/13 - 127.2 - That’s much more in line with what I expected for this round. Though i have a steak dinner and chocolate fondue planned for Valentine’s Day, so this may be short-lived. My NSV today was trying on the new jeans I just bought - 2 sizes smaller than my previous pairs! And they fit! I’ve been hesitant to buy new clothes since I’m not quite to my goal yet, and I’m debating going for another 5 lbs off after that - but I really needed these and it’s a great mental boost to wear stuff that fits. Grocery pickup today and meal prep tomorrow - white chicken chili for lunch this week, with chocolate strawberry overnight oats and zucchini feta dill egg muffins. I’m also trying protein powder for the first time, so I’m going to make energy bites with it!
2/14 - 127.4 - Happy Valentine’s Day! It’s going to be a day of indulgence and I’ll definitely go over my regular calorie allowance. We did crepes this morning and will be having a special dinner tonight. Since we can’t go out, I’m glad we can still do something special to celebrate each other. Got in a solid leg workout this morning and will do my regular walk tonight.
2/15 - 128.4 - Don’t know how many calories I ate yesterday, and I don’t really want to. It was a wonderful day; I managed to cook the steaks perfectly and we all LOVED the chocolate fondue. I know every day that I have a wonderful husband and amazing kids, but it’s still nice to have special days to celebrate. I enjoyed everything I ate and was present in the moment with my family - that’s all I ask of myself. The scale will sort itself out. Did a 30 minute HIIT workout this morning and will aim for some Beat Saber tonight.
2/16 - 127.8 - Still coming down from Valentine’s Day. I’m on to spring cleaning now - trying to take on one room each day. Yesterday was the living room - today, the main bathroom! Cleaning burns a few extra calories each day, right? Thoughts and good wishes for all those affected by the winter storms here in the US - stay warm and stay safe!
2/17 - 127.6 - *sigh*. Did it again last night - was doing great all day sticking to my meal plan, exercising, even took the kids hiking - and then I ate a bunch of cookies right before bed. Part of the problem is I tell myself “It’s ok, I’m so close to my goal weight, one day of maintenance won’t hurt...” but that doesn’t work when I’m doing it every few days! The other part is simply that I AM really hungry - maybe because I’m staying up too late when we eat dinner at 5:30; maybe because I’ve been upping the intensity of my workouts. Either way... new game plan! I will now be incorporating a full evening snack into my meal plan. I think it will help to have a balanced, healthy snack planned that I can look forward to rather than letting myself have “just one” cookie that snowballs. I’ll also try to get to bed earlier - but I’ve been trying to do that for years and haven’t managed it yet. 😂.
2/18 - 128.4 - Perseverance is the word of the day here - both in terms of teaching the kids about the Mars rover landing today and what I need mentally after seeing the scale go up again. I did implement my evening snack last night - sliced pear and a small amount of cheddar cheese. It was delicious and worked well to keep me from snacking on other things. A solid strength workout this morning helped me feel good about today, but tomorrow is my little guy’s 2nd birthday and we have plans for a special breakfast (ordering from a restaurant), special dinner (macaroni & cheese, his FAVORITE) and cake (Elmo!). I’m going to do my best to make healthy choices , but it really may be a round where I gain or at best maintain rather than lose.

[*] Focus: maintenance! I might even manage to lose a bit more ever so slowly.
[*] (One good thing about Covid is that I don't have to traverse the minefield of family celebration meals.)

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.
