A few of my workmates had a Zoom drink together yesterday after work. It was wonderful as haven't seen some of them since start of Covid-19 as we are all teaching remotely and they teach in other programs. It was so lovely.
March 11 marks one year since so much changed for so many people. People have lost family members, lost income, and lost hope. As I come up to the one year mark I am thinking of everybody and sending out virtually hugs and prayers

@VickyEltonGreen I am so glad you were able to see your coworkers. We need those social interactions. I don't think I realized how much I missed some of them until we connected during a Zoom meeting.
For me, the pandemic nightmare began officially March 9th. I've been praying and pressing on ever since. Thanks for the words, and like you, I will be sending up prayers for comfort, peace, health and happiness.4 -
Good morning ladies! I hope everyone's March is off to a solid start. We're starting to see signs of spring here in southern Louisiana and it makes me want to get outdoors and do stuff.
I'm still placing myself firmly in the direction of a plant-based diet and finding that I like it. I still occasionally eat cheese, but I have increased my vegetable and legume consumption tremendously. If anyone else in this thread eats plant-based and has any good recipes, I'd love to hear about them. That has been a challenge for me: figuring out what to prepare, mostly for dinner, when my husband and son are home. They're not as enthusiastic about this as I am, so I try to find recipes where they can add some shrimp or ground beef if they want.

Happy March Everyone!
My name is Ashley, and I am new to the group. I had been searching for a group to join and reading your comments and feeling such a positive and supportive vibe, I thought I'd jump in!
I was an active member of My Fitness Pal years ago, and after successfully losing 85 pounds, a HUGE milestone, I kind of lost focus and have now gained all my weight back. As I'm sure some of you can imagine, that's a hard thing to grapple with especially with COVID and primarily working from home this past year. But, nevertheless, I remain determined to get TO a healthy weight. Here goes!
Overall Weight Goals:
Age: 40
Height: 5'2"
SW (2/17/21): 291
CW (3/2/21): 285
GW: 175
Weekly Goals*:
- Log in my food and water in MFP
- 5,000 steps per day
- No bread, sugar, soda for any 3 of the 7 days
- Workout/Walk any 3 of the 7 days
- Speak nice words to myself daily
- Check this board as a way to be accountable and share encouragement
*My plan is to increase this goals only after I've kept current goals for at least 2 weeks. I use to set crazy goals, not meet them, and give up altogether. I am learning to first set attainable goals to, once again, solidify the habit. So far so good, this week!
I am looking for taking this journey with you, and thank you for opening this group to newbies! :-)

Wednesday weigh in
Highest weight: 435 (11/1/18)--lost 50 lbs. by the end of 2018 but got off track and gained back almost 31 lbs.
SW: 415.8 (4/17/19)
2/24: 161.0
2/28: 158.6
3/3: 158.2
3/10:
3/17:
3/24:
3/31:
March GW: 154.6
GW: TBD (probably somewhere between 130 & 150).
Weekly exercise goals:
- bike ride or exercise bike 5 times per week - 5/5 (1 day was an actual chilly bike ride!)
- strength training 2 times per week - 2/2
- chair yoga 4 times per week - 4/4
- step ups on aerobic step platform twice a day at least 3 times per week - 3/3
- bonus: 2 hikes plus walked around my neighborhood one nice day
The weather is gradually warming up here. We haven't hit the 50s yet but have been in the low 40s a couple times. I know the temps will drop again and this is just a teaser but it sure is nice while it's here! My cut off for riding my bike is 43 degrees so far, especially if it's not too windy. I'm sure I could go when it is colder but I haven't tried it yet. I don't have good winter gear right now so I'll wait for the balmy mid-40s to ride. Also, I can only ride the paved trails that they plow right now. It will be a while until the snow melts off the crushed limestone ones and then maybe a bit longer until they aren't muddy. I haven't done much riding on the streets. Being so new to riding again, I feel more comfortable on the trails. I'm so glad they plow a few of the paved ones around here so I can go for a ride when we have early "warm" weather.
Hope you all are well and have a great rest of the week!5 -
@BethCW2963 love the pics!! i can totally relate!1

Well, I lied. It actually hit the low 50s here today. With a very light wind, it was a good day for a bike ride. I did between 9 and 10 miles of some hilly paved trails. I need to work on doing hills! I ended up with a wet back because of puddles from the melting snow (apparently my rear fender doesn't help much!) but it was good to get out in the sun.7

@supersparklyk Greetings! I too am trying to eat a more plant-based diet and have a big love affair with veggies and legumes. You might find some good ideas here (this is one of my favorite "foodie" websites: https://www.eatingwell.com/search/?q=plant-based+recipes - best of luck in your journey to a healthier you.
@ashleydhill777 Hello from Guam and Welcome to the group. I, too, have played the "gain a lot of weight back" game and I am also starting over. You have picked some great goals and I look forward to seeing your progress!
@MuttiNM You are a huge inspiration to me! Your latest bike ride sounded like a lot of fun, even though a bit wet. I haven't ridden a bike since I was a kid but I fondly remember those days and growing up in the country I rode a great many miles. Have a great day!
@reesegrace1 You've picked some great goals! I also used to be a coffee and diet soda drinker (Pepsi for me), but I quit a few months ago and now I just naturally find myself drinking lots more water. Have a healthy, happy month!

@AstraL12 hey twin! We have almost the same stats - I'm also 29 and 5'2", and I was 239.8 at my last weigh-in for February. I'm aiming to lose a pound per week this year, expecting to finish 2021 at 196 lbs. We can do it!2

@BethCW2963 Thank you for the link! I've already scoped out a few recipes I want to try - black bean tacos, shiitake mushroom "BLT's" and pineapple nice cream. Yum!1

@BethCW2963 Yes, my ride was fun and the hills made it a bit more challenging. When I first started my weight loss this time, I made a list of things I wanted to do once I lost weight. Riding a bike was one of those items. It was a big thrill last year when I finally felt I had lost enough weight to try and get on a bike again. Before that, I don't think I had been on a bike in 37 or 38 years. I was pretty nervous when I first got on it, tbh. It was a while before I felt confident enough to ride by myself. I wouldn't go unless my son was available to go with me, which wasn't too often. Eventually I tried some short easy trails by myself and by the end of summer, I was riding 5 or 6 days a week on the rail-trails around here. It definitely makes me feel like a kid again, even though I'm far from a kid!
I never drank coffee but I drank tons of diet Coke. I quit that when I started this journey to improve my health. Since then, I only had soda once. Otherwise it's all water all the time. I couldn't envision life without my diet Coke but apparently it's possible. (I do have milk on my cereal but since I don't really like plain milk, I don't drink it with meals.) You have a great day as well!2 -
Hi everyone! Nice to meet you all! I was just starting to get more into my fitness journey when the pandemic hit, and I kind of fell off the wagon, so I'm excited to get back on track and keep with it.

Roughly 95% of the time, I eat a plant-based diet. Every now and again I may eat something sweet (maybe cake) that has eggs or milk, but that's rare. I am big on searching the web for recipes/ideas, which is working well. I'm trying to incorporate more vegetables and eat healthier overall. I will send you a friend request to share my go-to recipes. Also, my hubby eats chicken, fish and turkey, and there are several of my dishes that he loves. I can relate to your dinner challenges.

I'm thinking that I'll start with some exercise videos. I'm going to see what's on YouTube this weekend. I have a kettlebell, balance ball, and jump rope so just thinking about things I can do at home and starting out small.

Hello, all!
I'm super excited because tonight I took my first yoga class in about 6 years. It kicked my butt, but this is the jumpstart I need. I've signed up for a trial of 6 classes (3 per week) with a friend who has been doing yoga for a while now, so hopefully she'll keep me on the straight and narrow.
I haven't been wanting to cook at at all, but I'm sticking to my Meatless March (and also avoiding dairy and chocolate which are definitely my trigger foods for over eating--along with fried chicken.)
Overall, I'm feeling very good about this month so far. 💜💜💜18 -
@Laughter_Girl Thanks! I'm new to the whole plant-based thing and have been watching all sorts of videos about it. So far so good, and I'll look forward to your recipes!3

Woo new thread! Happy March everyone!
I've decided I'm attempting 10,000 steps a day this month. We're only 4 days in but so far so good. Yesterday I left it so late and I did the whole 10,000 steps in go hahah GOSH my feet burned! It took an hour and 29 minutes if anyone is curious and was 4.38 miles according to my watch! It's going to be a struggle challenge this month, but I'm going to give it my best (walking workouts on youtube come in so handy when the weather is vile!). I'm going to give myself one day off if Shark Week destroys me on the first day as it's wont to do (so, 300,000 steps in March)
Here's my stats
Age: 31
Height: 5'7"
Original SW: 242lb as of 01/02/2021
February End weight: 233.5 lb
March Progress:
1st: 232 (-1.5lb)
8th:
15th:
22nd:
29th:
Weight lost so far this month (-1.5)
GW for March: 226lb (-7.5lb)
