I hopped on the scale this morning; had my eyes closed and opened them hoping for a decent number. I actually lost weight on my vacation just a few ounces but still. I am relieved.
I am sure the weigh loss was due to excessive happy walking on the beach. Sometimes, I had 16,000 steps in a day. I wish I lived near the ocean!13 -
Going to Easter lunch at my sister in laws. I'm contributing a fruit salad among other treats so I know I can at least eat that without guilt. Usually holidays I allow myself to indulge a bit. Since it's a late lunch I can skip dinner and hopefully not go completely off the rails. Happy Easter!12

Hi everyone!
1 week in, and lost 0.5kg. At first, I was disappointed tbh. But then I realized that that's exactly what my MFG goals were set for! Funny!
Great idea on weight-in on Fridays, it helped keep me in check during the weekend.
SW:75.1kg
CW: 74.6kg
GW: 68kg
A few more brag points: did 10k steps 7 days in a row! Starting gym tomorrow.
Happy Easter to everyone celebrating!11 -

Happy Monday everyone...
Well, I weighed in today, Monday at 264, and will weigh in this Friday to see how I handle my eating habit over the weekend.
Moreover, I sit on a few Boards which are starting to do more in-person meetings and host functions, so I have to make adjustments for those meals and drinks during social engagements...I'm sure many of you are in the same situation.

Have a great week!11 -
We had a lovely Easter weekend! We swapped out our traditional turkey dinner for an outdoor wiener roast at the lake. Played some pickle ball and went for a nice long walk. I’m starting to think the big turkey dinner with all the high calorie fixings is over rated. It’s about the people not the meal! We had a lovely time while following all the Covid restrictions. This may lead to a new Easter family tradition!13

Happy to be Back! I will post weekly on Fridays. Best of luck to All of us!

Back to work today. Had a wonderful spring break. I am looking forward to seeing the students!

I did strength training twice this week, first time in years.9

Today at work, my co-worker said I looked cute in my outfit. Then, after work, my neighbor texted me, "hey have you lost weight?" She saw me outside.
Funny thing is I felt really chubby today in my outfit. But the tiny little compliments made me feel pretty good. It's funny how we perceive how we look vs. others; I'm sure we are much too hard on ourselves.
@Toronto6fan Hooray!! Good job on the two strength training sessions.
@klilev 2.4 lbs is great!14 -

I'm so happy for you! Those always make my day.
Curious: I want to speed up my weight loss for motivation purposes, nothing makes me stick to something like seeing results. And I'm thinking about doing some low-carb diet. My question to you is: do you think that even matters if I stay within the same calorie limit?
And tbh, I don't even like low carb, but I'd do it for better results.

I struggle to understand my weight fluctuations, so I have a few theories that nutritionists and experts might laugh and scoff at. My number one theory is:
Avoid simple sugars like the plague. Your body will only metabolize fat if there is a need for more blood sugar. Simple carbohydrates readily provide that blood sugar, so there is no need to convert fat. So for me, that means goodbye sodas, candy treats, other sweets... except on special occasions. You need a certain amount of carbs, but it's best to make them complex carbs that don't cause a spike in blood sugar level. My experience suggests that for me staying within my calorie limit isn't sufficient if I want to maximize my fat burning. I've got to also watch my fat, protein and carbs ratios.
There is a theory that the release of insulin (to control blood sugar levels) inhibits the metabolic process that breaks down fat. This certainly seems logical: why would the body want to convert fat to sugar when there's already ample sugar present?
Also, for motivation, I suggest taking the long view. I've been on my weight loss journey since last July and I've lost a good deal of weight, but not as much as I had planned and hoped. But nevertheless I remain motivated, because I know now that I can reach my goal eventually.
Good luck!6 -

I would love to join this group for the motivation. I've been on MFP for several years but really just started back up. My goal is to just lose something! I'm a Type 1 diabetic, and it is a HUGE struggle for me.
Personal goals:
Continue running at least 3 times a week
Aim to lose 5 pounds by my daughter's graduation at the end of May.8 -
I’ll join as well! I lost 60 pounds a few years ago and was successfully maintaining without tracking until the pandemic hit. 15 pounds have slowly crept on, mostly just eating too much due to boredom! I started running last August but the pounds haven’t shifted so clearly the calories are the problem.

@frankwbrown I agree with you about avoiding added sugars as much as possible. I feel much better without it since I cut out soda, and candy etc. I watched a documentary about it and it was very compelling. I can’t remember if it was ‘Fed Up’ or another one but again it was really good.7

A huge win considering it was Easter weekend, my sons 12th birthday, and we have guests for the first time in a year and a half. (My in-laws!)
Good luck everyone!10
