@RubyRed427 Quitting drinking was much more important to your health. And despite you having sweets, you've STILL lost 11 lbs. Awesome accomplishments!
Portion control is working for me. As usual. Mother is right, I weighed myself today despite Friday being my weigh day. under 160 for the first time in a LONG time.
Bravo Jen! Under 160 is fabulous!!!

Not gonna lie.....I'm struggling to stay on track the last few weeks: Stuck at home alone due to Ontario COVid lock downs, Mom in LTC not doing well & no work to go to.....It feels like those "treat foods" are the only source of pleasure these days.
Walking about 3-5 days a week which has helped balance out the calorie overages a bit.
So great to read everyone's comments and see how well you are all doing. You are keeping me motivated😁10 -
I recently discovered a free weight tracking app that tracks and predicts all these things long term, short term and it makes very pretty graphs (if that’s something that helps you) it’s called Happy Scale. I have an iPhone, not sure if it is available for Android.
Looks like Happy Scale is specific to iPhone/iPad. I found an app called Libra for Android that seems pretty good. It's a plus that it can sync with a Withings scale, and I happen to have a Withings Body+ scale. Libra imported all the metrics from Withings all the way back to last August 18th which is when I got the scale. Libra can track weight, body mass and BMI.6 -

I hit my mini goal this week. I gave myself the month to reach 158, and I did it! Crazy thing is I'm really not finding it too difficult. I was never a big eater so portion size isn't my problem. I'm only 5 foot and hit menopause, that's the problem! Ok, I do fried foods and sweets as well I'll be honest.Im pretty sure I forgot to check in on Friday the 23rd🤔

I'm in Quebec, so I do know what you are going through. I know that the lockdown is difficult as we went through that in January/February. So far we are OK, and numbers are going down in Montreal. Hopefully Premier Ford will announce shortly that he will ease the lockdown as more people are getting vaccinated now. My parents are just south of Ottawa and are finding it extremely difficult as well. Hugs to you!

I am in the lockdown as well in Ontario and my daughter (who is 22 and doesn’t live with us) was diagnosed with COVID this week along with her boyfriend so I am glad in a way for the lockdown. I hadn’t visited with her in about 4 weeks and I have had my first shot so I am confident we are fine at my house but still we may have got it without the lockdown.
So aside from that e weight loss is going well.

If some one asked me what I had done differently this month than the previous few years, I’d have to say I started shopping as if I was eating alone. Early on, just before my first was born, people told me to never prepare multiple meals. That everyone should eat the same things. Worst. Advice. Ever. For one, my husband is a triathlete- I am not! Then I was blessed with picky eaters, just like I was as a kid. Now that they are older they will eat more variety, but I just can’t eat the same foods as a triathlete and two growing kids. So now, if I am not that hungry at dinner I will make myself something light, like a salad, and stay away from carbs at dinner. Instead I will make a second veggie side for more variety. I try to plan meals were I can eat the same as my family, just a smaller portion but sometimes I just need to do my own thing and after years of weight gain, I’m okay with that- and so is my family.
Good luck everyone!12 -
Have you ever been in a slump, where you fall off the wagon and seems like it takes forever to get back on...I have...I've only lost 4 pounds in six weeks, even though i'm walking 25 miles a week, eating almost right...smile. While staying somewhat in my daily calorie zone, in reviewing my eating habits during this time, I noticed that my wine intake had increased and my vegetable and water intake decreased. I'm also beginning to think that I need to change the foods I'm eating every 4 or 5 weeks to restart my metabolism. I realize this is a journey and we will have ups and downs, it just seems this cycle is taking longer to regain restart.
Does anyone change their foods every so often, if so, does it help?

This week was a bust obviously. Didn't control portions, ate out a lot. Had way too many carbs and there you go. Starting yesterday I added powdered collagen supplement to my morning coffee for skin, nails and hopefully, belly bloat. I've just got to get back to the basics. I've been a bit depressed so I do know that I ate for comfort this week. Now that is is staying warmer I will try to move more. I am encouraged by the success stories on here so that gives me hope.10 -

Such great progress @lperkins5 ! After a little plateau I changed things up a bit by swapping out one snack for a different snack (my pm protein bar for yogurt and chia). Doesn’t sound like much but it felt good knowing I was trying something new when I was feeling a bit stuck. Because you are still losing, there’s no need to make any radical changes to the foods you’re eating. What you’re doing is working! However, maybe swapping out just one food for something else might give you a mental break from the same old same old and maybe your body/metabolism will also feel a little re-energized. Absolutely no science behind this advice, just my thoughts. Lol.
