I'm a newbie and hope that is ok. I've used MFP for years on and off. Lost a bunch of weight and then gained it all back. Looking for a support group as I don't get it at home. My super sweet but skinny hubby loves pizza and wings. Lol. I could use the motivation.

Hi! I'm starting over (again). I am a constant yo-yo with my weight. Started at 214 in Dec '19 lost to 180 by July '20 then gained back up to 203 now! I am disappointed that I cant seem to keep the weight off because I fall back into old habits. Hoping this time to learn new habits and keep the weight off as well as keep it going!

Well, TOM showed up June 1st, so I'm going to let that go past before I try to weigh. That, and this one is hitting me a lot harder and I'm staying on the couch/in bed more, because trying to do much other than breathe shallowly hurts a lot.5

I lost ~50lbs in 2018-19 and then promptly regained it all back due to a death in the family and covid. I was able to participate in a program through my insurance, and found that a small group with a weekly check-in and a health journal really helped keep me motivated. Now my insurance has changed and I can no longer participate in the program. I've looked at Noom (wanted to speed me through my weightloss X_x I'm a firm believer in slow and steady) and WW (check in groups WAY too big, no actual accountability, personal connection imo)... so I decided to see about accountability buddies/groups on MFP and found this post! I love the vibe and how everyone wants to be accountable and uplifting for each other.
I've been struggling to get back on track, find and keep some motivation, and start over all year.. and I just can't do it alone any more. I'm tired, y'alls. I'm tired of being so unhealthy. I'm tired of being so stiff and sore, I'm tired of having trouble walking, moving, and doing stuff around the house. I'm tired of not having any energy. I'm here to do better. Today I'm starting over.

This has been a really good week for a lot of reasons. Part of it is that I am fiiiinally able to do my HIIT workouts again after having to take four weeks off due to an injury, and those particular workouts really make me feel GOOD. Part of it was that I meal planned REALLY well on Sunday and so cooking and eating this week has been both super easy, super healthy, and super delicious. And part of it is that almost every outfit I have worn this week has been something I couldn’t wear since 2016! 😉
My goals for June are to stay consistent with my current exercise: 3 days a week HIIT, 3 days a week swim, drink 3.5-4L of water a day, and meal plan every week so that I have all the ingredients I need on hand to cook delicious food. I find that if I have put in the time to make something really yummy that fits within my macros and calories, I don’t even want to be eating anything. The trouble comes when I HAVEN’T managed to plan well.. so, that’s what I’m going to work on this month!
Another shocker was when I realized I “only” have 25lbs left to lose. I’ve been used to being in the category of “50 or more lbs to lose” for so long (even more I started this journey) that the idea that I now fall in a different category (not obese, just overweight with some weight to lose) feels astonishing to me. I still catch myself looking in the mirror regularly thinking “I can’t BELIEVE that that girl is me!” I still have a ways to go, but I’m proud of what I have accomplished so far.

I LOVE meal prepping, definitely going to keep doing it even when I'm no longer in weight-loss mode because it just frees up SO MUCH mental energy. I have a 6-week rotation of lunches and dinners, which for me is a long enough cycle to keep it interesting while still making it pretty easy to meal plan/grocery shop each week.5 -

1lb loss. Not quite what I’d hoped for after no loss again last week, but my body can be a little crazy at times and I know from experience that I just have to keep doing what I’m doing and at some point it will give up being stubborn and the scale will move. I just really want that last 1lb to shift so I can hit my mini goal of 1 stone lost. It’s frustrating, but it won’t beat me!
I’m not expecting huge losses each week, I try to keep things as ‘normal’ as possible, as in, I try to lose weight in a way that I will find sustainable for the long term. I admire everyone doing multiple workouts each day and really going for it, and I wish I was more inclined to be that way, but for me personally it doesn’t work for the long term as I know I won’t keep it up (tried and tested). I really struggle to be consistent with things like that and I end up getting bored and fed up with it. Also, if I’m honest, I really dislike gyms and busy classes and I much prefer being outside walking or running. When I was running regularly, I only ran 3-4 times a week, incorporating yoga stretches into my running warm up/down, and that was enough to keep me healthy and fit. I love the freedom of running, the fact that you can look out of the window and think ‘it’s nice outside today, I’ll go for a run’, chuck your trainers on, and out you go. My aim is to hopefully get back to that again, back and knee allowing.
@girlinkaz – You are doing so well, you have a lot to be proud of. Keep doing your thing and you’ll be where you want to be in no time at all.

Not much of a loss but I know this is the reality of weight loss. I can’t say I’m surprised either because my daughter has not been sleeping well at all and the sleep deprivation has been making me very hungry. Plus I’m exercising everyday so my muscles are a little sore but in a good way. All I can do is keep moving forward. It’s nice being apart of a group where we all have the same goals. I’m the only one in my household trying to lose weight since I have three kids and my husband is slim. I’m going to keep at it with my workouts and try to watch my snacking! I would expect to be up next week due to the loss is due to a stomach bug that struck Wednesday night and I am working on rehydrating still.
My main source of "working out" is playing with my kids. (I own a modern skip it- which sucks compared to what I had as a kid, an adult size bouncing ball with handle and a hula hoop) when I get below 200 I think I am going to get a pogo ball lol.6 -

I'll post an official weigh-in tomorrow but just for funsies I stepped on the scale this morning and saw 222, so that was nice. This is the first Friday I've been back in the office for over a year, and they brought donuts. Big, fancy, expensive donuts with lots of candy toppings, from a fancy donut shop in town. I successfully resisted them this morning when the rest of my team went upstairs to get their treats; I resisted them again just now when I went upstairs myself to refill my water cup. I'm going to keep reminding myself that they're all dried out now, they've been sitting out all day, if I want a donut that damn badly I live right by the bakery they came from and can go there whenever I want, I brought my own delicious food to eat today, and I'd rather spend those 300 calories on my birthday dinner next week anyway.12 -
Two years ago today I got my act together. I was at my wit's end, due to not sleeping for the past 3 days. The reason I couldn't sleep: shooting, searing nerve pain down my right thigh because excess weight was crushing my right femoral nerve. I logged back into MFP and started logging my food and haven't quit. Here's what has happened since that day 2 years ago:
Weight: From 286.5 to 160
BMI: from 42 to 23.5
Waist: From 49 to 29
Hips: from 58 to 38
Pant size: from 24W to 8
Average Daily Steps: 7830 to 15775
Months in Maintenance: 11 months (although I did lose 15 pounds during the first 6 months in maintenance.
I've stopped taking medication for high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. I started running and will be completing my third half marathon in 30 days. I joined a rowing club and will be competing in two races on Sunday - rowing in a single and quad. I no longer have any nerve pain. What have I gained? New friends from rowing and running. A healthy online support community here on MFP. New found confidence in myself and my strength. The adherence to process discipline that I had to apply to lose weight has translated well at work (and visa versa).
I had lost weight before (though never this much) but I have never kept it off this long before. I can't wait to post again on my third and fourth year anniversary to tell you what else I gained by losing.26 -

Last week I put my calories up a bit for the holiday weekend but there was only really one day that I ate most of those calories. I still had it set to lose weight just less than normal but the scale hasn't moved this week so I have no idea if it's because of that or that I've done a bit less exercise due to the heat but here's hoping I see a change next week because I'm staying within my calories and walking around 3 miles per day as well as drinking at least 2 litres of water.

I'm on more sociable hours this week so I'll be trying to get some walking done in the evenings after work, maybe a workout or two have a lovely weekend!7 -

Hi ladies, I have been logging and posting off and on- more so the past couple months, but not daily. Sorry to those who've asked to be my friend- I get nervous doing that. I am struggling with emotional eating, due to some circumstances at home. And just turning 70 has been difficult- severe knee pain to deal with. So feeling sorry for myself. You are all brave and inspiring! I was doing ok and losing- then let stress get the best of me. Igh. Today is a new day, so will get back in the saddle and try to make good choices. I have to believe that I deserve it. It's almost like I use food to punish myself for being weak. Isn't that awful? So will be 'kind' to myself instead. Wishing all of you joy this day. It is a journey that takes time, isn't it?12

Starting the month off right with a nice big loss this week! I'll take this as more evidence that my TDEE is higher than MFP/the other internet calculators think it is. I did take some measurements last weekend and I'm down about an inch all around from last time I took measurements, which I think was April. I don't have the paper in front of me so I don't have exact numbers right now, but I remember everything was lower, LOL.
My sister got me a subscription box for cat ladies for my birthday - I don't know if it was just the one box or if she sprung for the 3 or 6 month sub, but I got some neat stuff! Two catnip toys, which my beautiful idiot sons* are just utterly enamored with - one is shaped like a popsicle and it's the cutest damn thing. Also a tee shirt which, in size XL, I think might go straight to the "pajama shirt" pile since it looks like it's going to fit pretty loosely, so that's nice . And the greatest beach towel ever conceived, it's BRIGHT purple (love it!) with a huge Persian cat-face wearing a pair of awesome John Lennon sunglasses on it. I'll be the hoopiest frood in town.
