One of the many trout a la roqueforts I had. They all come mega loaded with amazing sauce. Strangely, I didn't gain 1 lb when I returned home! Maybe it's because I skipped the fries or the wine dissolved the fats, who knows.9 -
@Stockholm_Andy those pictures are paint worthy for sure! Makes me really want to travel more than I do already.
@globalhiker wow if you are out my direction give me a holler!
Stayed AF last night even with all the giant bomb sounds!
I have a call into my Dr. again, seems my sinus problems have never really left just toned down a bit until this weekend (of course) this is TMI but my ear has been draining fluid so sudafed took care of the bulk of that but now it aches and my jaw hurts to open...so something new is afoot I am afraid. Needless to say the gym is on hold as well as using my hearing aid....way to painful to put in my ear.
Have a wonderful Monday everyone10 -
@globalhiker - YUM!!! Hoping to get to Argentina in the next couple of years … I’ll be on the lookout for your dish.
@lmlmrn - That sinus infection is hanging around too long. You might want to get aggressive about discovering what is the root cause. A friend’s husband last fall complained about similar issue/symptoms and finally found he had a rare cancer in his sinuses. MD Anderson Medical Center in Houston. They caught it early and did chemo as well as radiation for 6-8 weeks Dec-Jan. He is fine now.6 -
Thanks for all the nice comments on the Gotland photos we had a blast.
2 Days AF for July now.8 -
Okay. 2 glasses of a nice red wine with ... wait for it ... frozen pizza! Granted DH added fresh mozzarella to a nice California Pizza Kitchen Sicilian pizza but still ... I caved.7

We all cave from time to time LL3K what inspires me about you guys is you consistently pick yourselves back, dust yourself down and go again!
The month is still young lots of days for AF yet
Plus it was only two glasses, I'd have finish the bottle, opened another and then poured a nice whisky....6 -
Hmmmm did I post yesterday? Can't remember.
Great pics @Stockholm_Andy BEAUTIFUL, just beautiful.
Late yesterday afternoon I made myself a drink here at home. The cold and damp had played havoc on my fingers and not even pain relievers helped. So I had a drink, put on my heated mittens that get thrown into the microwave and fell asleep on the sofa until my hands felt better.
5 days into July

I love the pictures @Stockholm_Andy just gorgeous!!!!!
@lmlmrn I love Mt. Baker, and love it more when the road to Artist Point finally opens!!! So beautiful, and in the winter the skiing is amazing!
I was AF last night, even though I was sorely tempted because we had a nice family dinner and my husband poured himself a glass of wine. But, I over-did it this weekend, and need to give my body a break, so I’m proud of myself for resisting. It didn’t even take long to get over the feeling of wanting a drink, which is a relief! So, weight is down today, and I feel bright eyes and bushy tailed.
I am chomping at the bit to sail my boat, and the weather is not cooperating on the days I am available to sail! Grrr!5 -
Hi all,
I posted on the June 2021 site, but will re-introduce myself. Hi! So glad to be back. The last two months have been difficult on me. Family plans and emotions and organization and being pulled in many different directions organizationally and stress-related.
July is for me. I've been abusing alcohol to cope - and this is a habit I am going to break. Thank you all for sharing your stories and inspiring me.7 -
Hope you're feeling better today @MissMay. Sounds like you could use some Arizona dry heat.
Today is a brand new day....and a shorter work week
6 -
Just checked...it's 11 weeks until my dr's appointment. That would be 77 days. Count starts today, will shoot for 77 days AF straight. Clock starts now!8

My usual goal, 16-20 AF for the month. This is sustainable long term for me.
Thursday July 1st - Drinks. The first following 5AF days. I may have drinks Friday as well.
Friday July 2nd - Drinks - i started with a Mojito that I had put in the freezer (that i found) in its own little shaker. I quit Census today, and worked/played long and hard in the yard trying to catch up on months of neglect. Really lovely day. Possibility of drinks tomorrow and the next day too as people traveling from Alberta are arriving in town. Being kind of self-indulgent right now. Day off tomorrow, only a 3 hour shift on Sunday. I will navigate this after working 5 jobs for the last couple of months. Shouldn't just be free reign to have drinks every day. I will figure it out. At the moment, like I said, I am being kind of self-indulgent.
Saturday July 3rd - 2 1/4 drinks. Tried 1/4 of a different Gin Smash, too sweet for me, I covered it in the fridge and will give it to a friend who likes the sweeter drinks. Another super productive day in the yard/garden. Just a 3 hour shift starting at noon tomorrow, so expecting to get lots more time in the yard before it gets hot out. Planned drinks tomorrow with friends after I get off of work, and Monday completely off.
Sunday July 4th - AF - I had planned to have drinks after work, partly because I have tomorrow off. I decided to save the calories instead - 100 day weigh in challenge is coming to an end in 9 days and alcohol is the bane of trying to lose weight hands down.
Monday July 5th - AF - Really wanted a nice cool drink after a very productive day off and lots in the yard. Resisted.
Rolling total - 2 AF day out of 5 days6 -
Stayed AF over the long weekend. Booze was being consumed all day every day, but I knew in my head that's all I would be paying attention to if I were drinking and definitely wouldn't be active. I didn't embarrass myself around my stepson. In-laws. A famous local author. Actually, I didn't *maybe* embarrass myself. I used to be too embarrassed to actually ask if I embarrassed myself when I blacked out. Also realized I may be more of an introvert than I thought. I need to find or create a local small group without the church.
Yesterday was finally beautiful. I did a partial hike--first time alone on a legit hike (Big Moose Mtn). Don't feel too bad for not doing the whole thing, as it was really steep for my knees. Going to find some longer flatter hikes here and around Portland but my stubbornness may call me back to it.
@dawnbgethealthy I thought those flowers *were* wildflowers, lol. I picked them on the side of the road. And now I know their name.
@Stockholm_Andy Those photos!!! I.want.to.travel.
Great fishing story @MissMay ! I just can't eat any more lake trout and that's all that seems to come home.

Thanks for asking @dawnbgethealthy.
Actually along with a number of other people displaying their art, YES both @lmlmrn and I have art work in this gallery. And both she and I have sold a piece each through there.
