There’s a folk art auction house in Atlanta that often has them in sales. http://www.slotinfolkart.com/

I remember in the glory days of big old vans, they were popular van mural styles, too. Hahaha just gave away mah age there.

If you ever find yourself in Atlanta, message me and I’ll take you up to the Booth Museum of Western Art. No idea why it’s in Georgia, of all places, but it’s a Smithsonian affiliate and has a fantastic collection.

One of my favorite things to do in Europe is look at the Baby Jesuses in the paintings in the old masters galleries. Especially the ones that look like little old wizened men in the Madonna’s arms.

    The demons are fun, too.

Self Portrait of the Artist Hesitating Between Music and the Arts. Angelica Kauffman, RA, a founding member of the British RA - and last woman to be admitted until 1922.

I’ve been lucky enough to see several of her original paintings. The skin tones are exquisite. Her story is fascinating.

If you like beautifully illustrated kids books, Mercer Meyer’s “A Boy, A Dog and a Frog” series are wonderfully illustrated, really funny, and have no words. Kids have to make up the story as they go along.

Bernini's Rape of Porsepine -- The whole sculpture is incredible and can be seen at the Boughesi Gallery in Rome (go there at least once in your life). But look at the of the indentions made in her flesh. Looking at it in person, one swears it is fully allive.

    It is quite remarkable.

These two are in a current exhibition of Latin-American artists at a museum I volunteer at.

You can see every individual hair on this girl’s head in this exquisite graphite drawing by Franklin Delgado

And this one by Melvin Toledo just tickles the hell out of me (besides being technically well done):

There’s some really interesting pieces in this exhibition.
