Kelly - Your anger is justifiable, dear heart. Here's hoping you don't come down with the #RoRo, but unfortunately, if you don't, that reinforces their actions - "See, nothing happened!" Teeth grinding territory, that is.
Beth - I'm sorry about your dad. My daughter also placed her massive German shepherd a couple months ago with people who had kids, time, and space. The working breeds like Labradors, shepherds, setters, spaniels, and retrievers are so smart, but they need a job to do or they can get very bored and destructive, unfortunately.
Vicki - I'm so sorry about the loss of your friend.
Katla - Safe travels!
Julie - Hope things are going better for you now... You were missed.
More later,
Love y'all!

We scheduled this trip before Covid, and we have had to push it three or four times. Fiji is supposed to open up December 1, but with this new variant on the rise, we shall see. They could still shut it down. I don't think the airlines will let us push it again. We really do not want a refund because we got incredible deals on the airfare. I was initially thinking I wouldn't be able to do anything, but I am beginning to feel like I may be able to do some kayaking and light hiking. No ocean swimming, of course. We need this break after the last six months that we have had, and to prepare for whatever is to come.

Advice about Fiji, from Australia's perspective ...
https://www.smartraveller.gov.au/destinations/pacific/fiji
Scroll through the Overview, Safety, Health, etc.
I have a work colleague from Fiji and I think the last time she went home was in December last year when things eased up a little here. But then she had 2 weeks of quarantine on the way back.

Got it! Covid tests ordered. Travel/health insurance purchased. Arranging approved transportation to the resort. We aren't planning to island hop. We will stay on the island we fly into. There are a couple other things my husband is trying to get arranged, just to be sure that we have everything we need. Thankfully my husband is on the ball, so we weren't expecting to just show up and fly over.

One other thing ...
Over here (Australia, New Zealand, parts of Asia), borders close with very little notice. Within Australia, people have been given a few hours notice that they have to get out of a state, or they'll be stuck in that state for weeks or months.
Fiji has a Level 2: Exercise a high degree of caution warning including ...
"At level 2, the COVID-19 risk to you may be considered low. Keep in mind outbreaks may occur and local authorities could implement measures to manage this, often at short notice, which will affect your ability to move freely, including in and out of the country. Conditions may change at any time. Be prepared for an extended stay or disruptions to international travel"
https://www.smartraveller.gov.au/consular-services/travel-advice-explained#level2
Just a caution to make sure you can make a dash for the airport ... or that you can stay longer than planned.

Today we will pack for our return flight to Oregon. We have had a good visit with our son’s family. We have two heathy grandsons and have had a great time with the boys and our son and daughter-in-ilaw. Our DDIL has done a great job with Christmas decorating and the house is lovely. We’ve had a wonderful time. Now I am ready to fly home.3

bananasandoranges wrote: »Hello you guys!Sorry i have been off the boards. i know that most or all of you forgive us when we are off boards. I'm unable to read back 18 pages and even less to comment thoughtfully so I'lll read the last two or three and jump back on board where i am. I am impressed by those of you who are able to do a much more sizable catch up!
I started to catch read some days ago in the evening and then dozed off or something.
10 days ago, in the bus my phone was disappeared. Then 3 days later the new computer went kaput. I brought it quickly to apple store, very luck to get a quick appointment which is rare. They said return for last Thursday, but NO, many bugs in communication, and they send it for repair Czech Republic now!! on Friday no promise as to return date. What a racket, whereas i paid for the expensive apple care and there is a franchise. Apple service is not what it used to be.
Then when dropping off my computer last Saturday, in very busy upscale shopping district at midday Saturday, my scooter was stolen. I couldn't believe it!! I checked to see if had been towed maybe 20 times.
Insurance covers all but it is time consuming.
How to keep up paperwork administrative tasks-wise? Not sure! The load keeps increasing.
Went to movie last night (house of gucci), my reviews are mixed like those online. I found the story historically so interesting anyway and of course top notch actors. First time going to movie theatre in a very very very long time.
Coffee with friend neighbor this morning.
Invited other neighbors over for "apero" = cocktail, this time soft drinks/herb tea and a few nibbles.
I need to clean and stash my paper mess or at least part of it.
So sorry!0 -

“This condition is referred to as sensory processing disorder (SPD).
SPD can be triggered by any stimulus that interferes with the stability of the person's environment. In some cases, the person can be so hypersensitive that they react to sensations others may not even notice.
Examples include:1
Sounds, particularly persistent sounds such as lawnmowers, washing machines, ticking clocks, dripping water, or traffic noises
Sights, including fluorescent lights that flicker or curtains that flutter
Smells, including heavy or distinct smells such as cleaning supplies, new carpets, perfumes, and foods
Textures, including eating slippery foods or touching goopy gels”
I must have this! I have all the symptoms except texture!
Working with rowdy third grades. Busy busy!

Grands got sent home from school yesterday, with coughs and a HOME, rapid CV test?!? WOAH! Didn't know there were such things. DD compared it to a home pregnancy test. (with some obvious distinctions) Swab up both sides of the nose, dunk in the solution, open the testing "flap", close the swab inside and wait for "one" (neg) or "two" (pos) lines. Both were negative and they can go back to school today! WHO KNEW?!? No more racing to the airport (where our testing center is) and waiting 4-6 hours for results! WooHoo!1
-
Minicooper - Here in my part of CA they are available at all pharmacies (CVS, Walmart, Walgreens and the mom and pop ones) and some insurance is covering them. At friends gatherings the deal is the host buys them and meets folks at their cars before coming into the house and issues the "kits" if you are negative you can come in, if not you go home. Pretty easy. and if you won't take the test you don't get in either.

Minicooper- we are able to get those free from the pharmacy. I have boxes of them!!! Used them twice.
Had a lovely lunch with G at the Persian restaurant. Then walked up to the school to pick up Bea. Wended our way home very slowly in the cold. Now getting ready to walk home. My legs are VERY tired for some reason.

BARBARA Thanks for the shout out!0 -
Thanks everyone for the shout outs! Much appreciated!
VICKI i'm so sorry about your friend passing.
BETH that lovely energetic dog doesn't sound like a great match. If he is reasonably young i bet he's easy to find a home for. Some youngish people would be thrilled to get an energetic lunk of dog.1 -
Beth--I am sorry to hear about your puppy being out of control. I hope that the trainer can help. Our pug has been doing a lot of whining and barking lately. So talked to the vet and he didn't really have any answers. Jake is at least 9-10 years old. So went and brought some CBD oil for him. Gave him some last evening and it seemed to help for a couple hours. So have to adjust the dosage and see what happens. Vet said it could be because of the new dog in the house and his hearing is bad. Vet doesn't think he is in pain and that is what I was most worried about.
Kelly--I pray you do not get sick, and understand your feelings.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE2 -
