Thanks @shanaber I was able to get to you now. Money is sent, I sent some extra to cover 3 people so @AlphaHowls and @SummerSkier I have you covered so you can sign up. That leaves one more. I only have it because I used to use it for work.5

I'm just seeing about the Run the World thing... will have a look when I turn my computer on tomorrow, I think I have a couple of dollars lurking in my Paypal, will check and sign up.2

Thank you @skippysmom 😊😊😊. I tried the new link also but it kept asking me to sign in to PayPal. I agree with Scott about our ringer. ❤️❤️❤️👍🎉

Same here but I copied and pasted @shanaber's email address that she shared above and used it. Just click "Pay & Get Paid" at the top of the page and then insert her email into the box under "Send Money."0 -
Does anyone keep in touch with MandyCamera (not sure of her exact MFP user name)? We need her and her mileage also! Lol!1

Got in 8 miles this evening. Felt better than I have in months. Shins only hurt for about 2 blocks. Temperature was in the perfect zone at 54F, light breeze.

@Scott6255 It's good to see that you had a good run!
@shanaber I joined the challenge and sent you the $, I think. Please let me know if you got it. I have a pay pal account, but don't ever recall using it, so I'm not sure I knew what I was doing. Thanks again for doing this for us.0 -
I apologize for all the PayPal issues. I am pretty sure the updated link posted earlier it should work and when I had my husband try it, it took him to the correct page (he doesn't have a PayPal account).
https://paypal.me/SBereznay?country.x=US&locale.x=en_US when you go to this page it should have options to request from me or send to me.
@Scott6255 was able to send via Zelle w/o any issues. That is a first for me but it was really easy so I may end up using it again to send or get money from friends.
@quilteryoyo - nothing on PayPal from you.
So far we have 9 signed up for Run the World. I need locations for @AlphaHowls, @Teresa502 and @run_sara_run to update the map. I'm not sure if I have to do it all at once or if I can set it up and then add on locations as more people join.
If you are adding miles manually and you have run the last couple of days please backfill your runs. It does seem to be picking up past runs for those who are synching activities. We are behind by 80 miles but I am sure we will make that up quickly!
@rheddmobile and @polskagirl01 - are you going to join us this year? Also missing our NZ friends @Avidkeo and @ContraryMaryMary
@eleanorhawkins - where in Spain are you?
I was futzing around with PayPal and other issues with the challenge and didn't get out for my run until this afternoon. It was strange to be out on the trail so late and I was surprised at how many people were out with their kids. The sun was going down and it was pretty chilly in the shade, the sun on the other hand felt great! After the storms moved through they left behind a lot of snow in the local mountains and the view was gorgeous. I tried to get a couple of pictures of them.5 -

@shanaber I will join and pay via paypal tomorrow. I am in Syracuse NY
It's late and I will catch up and update tomorrow!3 -
Hi! I’m new here. I live in rural Wairarapa in New Zealand on a small 5acre block of land.
I would say I’m also pretty new to running. I managed to build up from nothing to a 60mins 10K when my son was a toddler (OMG - 7 years ago, where has the time gone!!) then had my daughter and we moved to the country and not done anything really since then. I did really love my morning runs before I stopped.
Wanting to get back into it for health and mindset benefits, and creating boundaries with work. I spend too much time working. I do enjoy it but I need something useful outside of family time to stop me from just working
So starting with C25K again on Tue, Thur and Sat. I’m doing strength training on alternate days except Sunday.
Planning a modest goal for Jan based on 12 sessions of C25K- 42km.

Ok, I've joined the challenge and sent the dollars by Paypal. @shanaber I'm near Málaga, on the southern coast.
I have a 22.5km, 1083m elevation gain mountain race on the 16th and the terror is kicking in. The one I did back in October was similar, but we had been to check out the route beforehand so I knew what I was in for. Plus we were well prepared with a structured plan.
This time around our evil coaches have been distracted by ultras, marathons and injuries of their own so although I've probably put similar distances in and done a few intervals and hill sessions, I have never had the psychological reassurance of seeing a plan on paper and knowing I'm doing what I need to do.
I know it will hurt, I also know that in theory, I am perfectly capable of finishing it within the cutoff time. However, I have no idea whether there are goat tracks along sides of mountains above sheer drops like last time (THAT was terrifying!) or very technical, steep slopes. I do know that some of the route follows that of a very well-known mountain 'marathon' here that makes local trail runners get a funny look in their eyes. The name of one hill that they all pale at the mention of literally translates to 'Convicts'.
My goal for the month is just going to be finishing that and coming out the other side able to walk (after a few days of crawling, probably). Not going to set a distance goal for the month as I may well need a week off to recover.
Where goals for the year are concerned, altogether I managed to run 1845km in 2021 (still no idea how, when I was upset to only do 1591km the year before), so I would like to beat that. I toyed briefly with the idea of a marathon but think I need a few more years base behind me first. So I'll be focusing on keeping up my monthly HM streak, and probably throwing in some more mountain races, gradually increasing the distances (most around here have a short option of about 16km or a longer option that is somewhere between 20 and 30km).
I think my spirit animal is a grumpy cat.
My daughter (16) announced last night that she wants to go get herself a hamster today with her Xmas money because she "doesn't have a boyfriend and she feels lonely". We agreed that they're lower maintenance than men and set a rule that she must look after it herself. That will no doubt last until it bites her or gets noisy at night **rolls eyes**9 -
Does anyone keep in touch with MandyCamera (not sure of her exact MFP user name)? We need her and her mileage also! Lol!
That high mileage was all at the beginning of the year; she's been doing much more "normal" distances for a while now
I'm still debating whether to join in this time. It was fun. If we do it as just active MFP'ers, we may not make it, and if we add in a bunch of other people just to get numbers, it loses the point for me. But I liked running with @eleanorhawkins. BUT I can do that on Strava. Hmm.
RE: hydration vests: it's a very personal decision, but I like my Ultimate Direction (very similar to Nathan) pack as it's very adjustable and has front pockets.
Ran today, ran yesterday, about 6.5km each day on different road routes, wet and somewhat dreary but so good to get outside and move. I haven't changed my routine with the new year, but it seems like everyone else did and I'm trying to not have Strava envy from all sorts of long and exciting activities I'm seeing since Jan. 1.
We're going to a conference soon. In the further-away, higher Tatry Mountains... but with maybe not enough free time to actually climb anywhere substantial. I hope it's not too torturous for me. I'm making potential routes and am going to do my best reasonably with the time we have to get out on a hike or two. Waiting for some trekking sticks I ordered and packing lights and warm clothing.6 -
Sticks. 🤣🤣🤣
I mean "poles". Trekking poles.4 -

I just got the Osprey Dyna and I love it!! It’s so comfortable and has pockets galore. I’ve worn it up to 11 miles so far and on some sweaty days. No chafing or bouncing. It is a game changer for sure!
Welcome @rungirlrun500 and @tamlyn1980 and @tegass1994 !
@shanaber I just signed up for RTW and sent you $ through Zelle. I am in The Woodlands, TX. The “The” is a part of the town name if you are searching for it on a list.4 -
"Keepin' it sleasy since 1952"
1-1 7k sleasy
1-2 7k sleasy
1-3 rest
1-4 7k sleasy
January Total: 21k
January Goal: 140k
Mostly sunny, low 20s F, and the tiniest of tiny breezes from the south. After yesterday's rest day and today's trip to the chiropractor, it was a wonderful run. Even had an ice beard for decoration.9 -
@shanaber I joined and paypalled you $4. It's automatically counting runs and walks it looks like. I am not sure if I need to change settings somehow or it's set that way for everyone.
I'll be back to update from yesterday and today later.2 -
@polskagirl01 you HAVE to join. We want to run thru your town. I think we can do it with us here no problem. My mileage wont be as high as last year but I plan to contribute about 1800 miles today for the year. We can do it!
@Tramboman amazing what a little rest and chiro can do for our bods! Well done! Altho I expected more than sleasy based on your description.
Today was 5.07 for me. 15 cum out of whatever I said was my goall... LOL. Focused on pace and quality this year more than pounding out miles on my old bones.4 -
We have 12 participants now and I've got locations for everyone except @AlphaHowls, @Teresa502 and @run_sara_run to update the map. Right now it looks like we are mostly Running Around Texas! 😊
I agree @polskagirl01 we need you! We have enough to cover your $4 so what have you got to lose other than fun?
We are down to 2 credits so I am going to buy another $20 so that will allow 5 more to join. I can add more at any time if we need them.2 -
@shanaber I sent you PayPal and I am in Providence, Rhode Island. I can't link to Strava while I'm at work but I'm going to try to remember to do it later. I have about 20 miles to add1

@shanaber yes I’m in Huntsville – sorry I missed you asking that. The pictures are beautiful. My first 5K was in Texas so cool we can run around it again LOL
@rungirlrun500 you’re welcome
@AlphaHowls and @SummerSkier you are welcome.
I follow @Mandy Camara on strava, it doesn’t appear she’s running as much as she was, I hope all is well with her
@Juliexx00 she’s a beauty
Welcome @tamlyn1980
@eleanorhawkins you’ll do great!! Grumpy cat LOL Oh I got 2 dogs that way, poor kids and no boyfriends.
It was mid 20sF in Alabama today, snow hasn’t melted yet. I felt comfortable temp wise the whole time but it was funny when I got home my hair was frozen. I guess I was sweating under my hat and didn’t really notice LOL something else that was weird too, I had on a light nylon jacket and the inside was perfectly dry but the outside was soaked, strange.

Jan total: 22.1/80 miles
1/1: 11 miles
1/3: 5.1 miles
1/4: 6 miles
Logging 2 runs today. Yesterday I got out nice and early for an easy 5 miles in the coldest weather we have had this winter - 28 F!! I love running in the cold. I love actually getting to wear cold weather gear and seeing my breath and feeling the cold air on my face. It’s just my favorite!
Today I had a meeting in the morning so had to wait a bit. It was another really pretty day. Mid 40’s and sunny. Pretty much the perfect weather for speed work. I had a 400 m interval workout on the schedule and managed to run my most consistent intervals yet. Only had 1 that got away from me a bit and it was the 9th one, so I definitely still had plenty in the tank. Overall, a really pleasant run.5
