Staying steady in the 241 range today. I've lost about 6.5-7 lbs in the 2.5 weeks I've been back on here, which I'm pretty happy about.
I decided to try a new yogurt, and despite scanning the ingredients list twice before purchasing, I missed that it has stevia in it. I cannot do artificial sweeteners because a) I think they taste awful, and b) I get migraines and other headaches so easily, and they definitely trigger them. I decided just to eat the yogurt but I am already feeling the pain coming on. Good thing I only bought the one. I just hope it doesn't get too terrible because I have to conduct a job interview at work later in the afternoon.

This week has been a bit of a change from my normal routine. This weekend we took my MIL out for a wine and chocolate tasting experience and on Monday I flew out for a 2 day accounting conference. This was my first time flying since losing weight and it was an amazing difference; no seatbelt extender, easily fit in the seat, walking down plane aisles and even moving through the airport with all of my stuff. I am also very thankful that the conference provided healthy lunch options. It made it much easier to stay within my calorie goals.
This weekend I am driving up to Oregon with family to attend a celebration of life for my Aunt. My goal is to focus on the time with family and eat in a reasonable way (likely at maintenance).6 -

I have to admit I struggled yesterday but I prevailed! I wanted to eat all damn day! I am getting my period in 4 days and I become a hungry gal. I ate high protein snacks all day to try to curb it. I had a roasted seaweed package after dinner to try to curb the salt craving. Finally at 8:30 pm I went to bed because I knew if I stayed awake I was going to lose willpower and binge. F*** it was hard. But I prevailed! I am quite proud that I didn't give in.
Although, I was thinking this morning, even if I did give in and eat something past my allowed calories it is not the end of the world. It would have been a set back but it would not undo all the progress I have made. I tend to be a black/white or all-or-nothing thinker and I am trying to break that thought pattern. This is a lifestyle change. Not a diet. I am re-learning how to eat and to listen to my body.8 -

I've been dealing with head pain the last three days, and last night I suddenly wanted all the sweets. I had an ice cream sandwich, which tasted divine, but kept wanting to eat the bag of Caramello miniatures I have in addition to that. I ended up going to bed at 8:45 so I wouldn't be tempted.
After my stevia accident this morning, my head is absolutely pounding and I want to eat all of the things. I'm spending the afternoon at the office and brought some blackberries (which I ate as soon as I sat down) and a Clif bar. I suppose coming in was a good thing, despite feeling miserable, because it forces me to only eat what I brought with me instead of WFH and raiding the cabinet. I also brought 2 liters of water with me to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

YESSS!!! I get this way when I get migraines too!! As soon as the nauseousness goes away I am starving!!! I have no medical or research reason to think this but I feel like its because your brain needs glucose to function and its trying to "heal" from the migraine. Again no scientific proof to back it up but something I think about.
And of course, I'm feeling like crap so I want to emotionally eat as well. But it feels like a physical drive.
Gosh I hate migraines! I'm expecting one with my cycle in the next 4 days and I am dreading it.4 -

As far as May goes, I don’t have a weight goal. Insert a whole bunch of life/world problems and I’m basically in my worst depressive state in years, which has manifested in a bunch of weight gain. This month I’m just focusing on limiting fastfood to Sunday morning breakfast, walking daily, and logging food when I’m able to push through bad head space.10 -
Today I finally did my strength training. It was raining so it seemed a better idea than a walk. I am still in the 240s (high 240s) and staying below my calorie goal so I am hoping that I can avoid any popping up as usual.
@sbortnick I am glad you have reached a milestone. Hope you also climb that mountain. Nice NSV! I was just wondering what weight I would get to in order to fit 1X.
@ersilva_77 I started on here before I had any health issues and lost 40 lbs. Then I went back to work full-time and gained it all back. I did stop the gain and started to slowly lose. During the pandemic I was on furlough and I started to lose 20 lbs. Then after being laid off I found a better job and started working fulltime and again started to gain. This time I stopped the gain sooner and again started to slowly lose. Now the good job which was a limited duration job is over and I am trying to lose a bit faster because I have had some health issues in the meantime. So my 1st goal weight is 220 the weight I was when I lost the 40 lbs then 200. Then I will determine what a healthy weight is for me. Glad you joined us.

@nx9j4z5eh It is good to focus on just a few goals and hit them. The point is really our health. Last month I focused on logging so I could figure out a good calorie goal for me this month.

So, been slacking on the exercise, but it seems like the last few weeks have been getting a bug, getting over bug, rinse repeat, then injury, lol. Luckily, weight loss works even without exercise.
Today's the start of my girls' trip after work! It will be hard to keep a deficit, but I'm going to try. Even a small one. Or maintenance. But not over! We'll just see what kind of choices I can make. I'm not bringing my scale along, so the dancing hula girl will reappear Monday.

@seltzer_lover I watched a couple episodes of that. It was very 2010's. Made me feel a little gross, the cameras everywhere and getting followed. Hits that guilty enjoyment the way lots of reality tv does. The point is good, though. It's easy to mindlessly eat more than you think. Maintenance breaks are so great.
@Cluelessmama1979 you're doing very well, and I hope the pain subsides more today. 23 days without fast food, that's huge! Well done!

@RENAEJAE You're absolutely right about not beating yourself up/being kind to yourself. Your body took care of you through COVID, and did what it was evolutionarily supposed to do: ensure your survival in a stressful situation. Now that (hopefully!) you're no longer in that situation, you can take the weight off steadily, through building good habits and, again, being kind to yourself.
@sandielewis2001 I noticed the same, going from 220 to 155- suddenly I just floated through the world, where before I needed to chart a course. I'd like to get there again. Best wishes for you at your aunt's celebration of life.

@nx9j4zk5eh I'm sorry to hear you're in a bad headspace. Take good care of yourself, that's the number one priority. If you have the energy to make better choices/do something extra, great, but it's not required until you are in a good place to do it.

@swimmom_1 you know your body, to know whether the high end of normal bmi is good for you.. I know a lot of people who, by bmi, are overweight, but look great, and have no health issues, but it is a very personal decision, and you sound like you've considered carefully.

It's kinda weird seeing myself lose weight over this week, considering I've done nothing but lay around and not eat the healthiest. Then again, I have been drinking an insane amount of water, so it's possible this is what I actually weighed at the beginning of the week and I was holding onto water weight on Saturday. AKA, I flushed whatever sodium keeping my weight high out of my system.4

Anyone have any plans this weekend? I know Mother's Day can be pretty fraught for some people - this is permission from an internet stranger to do whatever you need to do to take care of yourself, if the second Sunday in May is a hard day for you, no matter your reason.
Tomorrow (Saturday) is the LoseIt Challenge Ultrawalkathon - this is arguably my favorite part of the challenges, although I don't think I could do them more often than roughly every 3-4 months, LMAO. My goal is 50,000 steps in 24 hours, clock starts at midnight tonight. 50k steps should take about 7-8 hours all told at my typical pace, so I'm anticipating being out and about for probably 10 hours, factoring in pauses to eat, rest, refill water, wait to cross roads, etc. The current vague plan is to walk somewhere for breakfast and then wander around for a bit while the UV index is still relatively low, then retreat into the nearest Planet Fitness to continue stepping inside in the AC. I have a backpack to carry water, snacks, and sun protection; we'll see how long I can stand the dreadmill before I head back outside, LMAO. Hubs has a gig tomorrow night so I can't just pick a direction and wander until my little legs can't carry me no mo', since he won't be able to come rescue me.8 -

#1 - drop the lbs so my plantar faciitis simmers down and my joints stop aching

Ugh... I had a dr's appointment this morning and their scale was 5lbs more than my scale at home.... what the heck. That was a real blow to the self esteem. I'll be back later.8

I got down to this weight for a minute last month but it was after being sick from the 2nd Booster so I knew I wouldn’t stay there. This week I have again gotten into the 240s just barely but I am so far staying there. I want to get low enough that I can’t pop up out of them. Today I plan to just eat below my calorie goal. Not too low or too high. Also I need to drink more water than yesterday.
Right before I started my last job I got down to about 245 but that with a scale that weighed me light than my one now. My short term goal is to get to that weight on this scale. So although I will be 6 LBS lighter than when I was last 245 lbs last time I will feel that I lost what I gained both in reality and through replacing my scale. Theoretically I am already lighter than that time 19 months ago but it doesn’t feel that way to me, even if pants and skirts are looser.
I went for a short walk today before breakfast with my youngest. However this will be a NEAT day since I need to straighten up and do some house cleaning for when my son and daughter-in-law come tomorrow for brunch. My husband is the brunch maker. Besides it is mother's day week end.

@kenziestabes Yes weird. I was drinking water and eating low calories went down a bit then started going up so I upped my calories and went down this morning. I didn’t drink enough yesterday so I plan to up the water and stay just under calorie goal today.
@goal06082021 Having my son and daughter in law over for brunch tomorrow and to my Brothers on Sunday with my Mom and it is also my sister’s birthday. Yes there is sometimes the pull between being a Mom and being a daughter especially when your Mom wasn’t the best. In the past years now that my kids are grown I am pretty chill about it all. Hope your Ultrawalkathon is great.

@biohazardinc I hate it when my scale fails since the new one invariably weighs me higher. I only weigh 1st thing in the morning, nude so my weight is always higher on the Drs scale. I know it is all relative but it doesn’t feel that way does it?3 -

@justanotherloser007 check out Meetup.com. Always a lot of different groups around the major cities. I haven’t been as active as I used to but went to a few groups that had activities I was interested in and met folks that became friends.
Work had me busy this week. Next week is lots of meetings. Weight had stayed close to the high so it’s more than just sodium right now. Slacking on water so that’s to be my focus. Almost biding my time until mom leaves for her summer place. I’m cooking a certain way to help appease her so I’d be cooking different a bit by myself. I’m needing to reflect on that a bit to see if I can switch some things. She bought I bunch of goodies I can’t have so that’s a non-issue at the moment. I did try one of each, and to test my reaction, to find they weren’t that great or just having the one was good enough. I have seen I progress more in the summer than in the time once she’s back so definitely historical pattern there.
Vet appt for the dog this week so I stayed at my house for the night to help with work timing on the day of the appt. That helped a lot. I do need to do that more often. The lure of doordash is very real for me there. I definitely know I gained during covid due to trying to support local food places by ordering. Otherwise I barely eat out. I knew I should have taken food over so I knew what I was doing when not doing so.

Another week in the books. I think the last 5 lbs have all come from my boobs, which I am both happy and sad about. Happy because I can fit into some of my old tops and they are more perky (lol), sad because when I am at a "normal" weight I tend to have a pretty straight figure (small chest, narrow hips, minimal waist curve) and I like curves! Plus the few bras that still fit now fit poorly. Seriously considering changing my goal to 190; I know it is still technically in the overweight BMI, but I am starting to feel pretty good about how I look and feel. The one thing I would like gone is my tummy, but I have had 4 kids so I doubt it will ever go away completely & I am not sure I care enough about the last of it to lose the rest of my remaining curves. We will see.
Met up with my cousin last night for a small street fair and some dancing. Lots of fun and lots of steps. Today I have a funeral followed by a play. I am trying to find some clothes that will work for both (going straight from the funeral in Sacramento to SF for the play), but I just tried on all my slacks and they all sag in the rear if not straight falling down. Which means I am officially way thinner than 8 years ago when I bought them all! I suppose it is a good problem to have, but really wish I had tried on my clothes earlier, lol.

@imgoff232 - I'm also 5'10 and my UGW is somewhere around 190-210. Really where ever my body decides it's happy.
At one point (10 years ago) I got down to 175 and was still in the over weight category. When I talked to my doctor about weight loss a few months ago she even agreed I could not maintain that weight. I want to keep some of my curves, but overall just feel better about myself.4 -

Ayy, you love to see it. I banged out 20 of the 25 miles of walking I intended to do today (1 mile is about 2000 steps, maybe a little more than that with my stride length - ya girl got lil legs) before the weather got the better of me. I do still intend to get back out there and do those last five miles - that's a little more than two loops around my block, eminently doable so long as the weather cooperates. The street is very peaked so huge puddles tend to form along the edges, and the way people drive around here you'd think the cars are being operated by three blind raccoons in a trenchcoat, so I don't particularly want to be walking down the middle of the road in the rain, yanno?5 -

Happy Mother's Day to any of you mothers out there! I am having 2 days of it. Yesterday my son and daughter-in-law came for one of my husbands lovely weekend brunches. They are going back home mid month. Today we go to my brother's for lunch with my Mom and sister and her husband. 3 of the cousins will be there to see their grandmother but none of those who are married with children. COVID rates are going up here and it isn't nice enough to have it outside so we are keeping it on the smaller side. Yesterday we took a 30 minute walk after brunch and I hope to get in a walk today. So far I am staying in the 240s but won't be safe until I lose another few lbs.2 -

Back from my girls' weekend with my bestie- we had a great time shopping, going to a farmer's market for some delicious treats and supplies for dinner, and making a fancy dinner of braciole with spaghetti squash last night.
I don't think I can trust my friend's scale, but it said 187.8 this morning, and it said 188.2 yesterday! So either I had a water gain on Saturday and then lost it today, or I'm losing still, which is nice, because I did manage to stay under maintenance (barely, lol, but it counts!) all weekend!
Back on my scale tomorrow morning, we'll see what happens!

@sarah12277 I know what you mean about being around some people making it harder on your goals. I've had to make myself pretty much antisocial at work in order to stick to my stuff- they all like to go out for lunch, and that's just not going to work for me with a deficit.

Yesterday I went way off track and didn't track my food because I ate out for breakfast and lunch. I tried my best with breakfast but lunch was a giant steak salad and I had no way of measuring any of it. I just decided to have an off day, and I don't feel too terrible about it today. I got back on track this morning and will weigh myself tomorrow. One thing I am going to have to work on is cutting back on "brown cows" at my favorite cafe (lattes made with whole chocolate milk).
I went sports bra shopping yesterday because all of mine are beat up and falling apart. Trying to find sports bras that fit a 38HH is a workout in itself! I did find one I liked on sale at Kohl's and bought it in every color I could find. I emerged from the outing with a beet-red face and my Fitbit telling me I was earning Zone minutes lol.
The rain has finally stopped here in Pennsylvania so I got out for a walk this morning. I haven't been very active this past week and I could tell as my right hip was very tight and my right calf started hurting a lot walking back uphill. I ended up napping most of the day away after that and now I'm just trying to enjoy the nice, quiet evening and ignore the Sunday Scaries.

So it’s officially been a week since I enrolled at the gym. Eventually I have to set up an appointment with a trainer to figure out a proper plan, but in the meantime I’m re-familiarizing myself with equipment and for the most part enjoying the time there.
The Good: Going to gym on my days off, average heart rate and blood pressure have decreased a little, and mostly being faithful to logging food.
The Bad: My knees are in poorer shape than I thought so I have to be a lot more mindful during exercise, and fatigue from increased activity and calorie cutting have carried over into work (thankfully my team is understanding though!)
The Ugly: I may never eat another dorito or pepperoni stick. Long story short, mindless snacking with DH before going to the gym is a bad idea.
Victory: I didn’t stress-binge after a particularly bad night at work Thursday.
This week’s goals:
Continue logging when I can, keep up with the daily walks, and try to get more sleep.

Good morning everyone!
I guess my bestie's scale wasn't too far off, weighed in on mine at 188.4 this morning.
I'm proud of myself for not doing what I might normally do in a scenario with my best friend: eating all the things. It's always a great time, and I found this weekend, it's still a great time even if I don't join her for a cookie/brownie/dinner roll with the braciole and spaghetti squash. I honestly barely noticed their absence, and I was never uncomfortably full all weekend. And I still treated myself: we went to a farmer's market I have fond memories of, and I got some delicious breakfast there. I tried the new cornbread donut at Dunkin (I liked it a lot!). I both treated myself and didn't go overboard. Lesson learned: no one's going to care if I don't eat what they're eating.
My concerted effort to log every. single. thing. in MacroFactor has netted me an increase in both daily calorie allowance and expenditure calories, now that it sees that yes, I lose weight on more calories than you gave me, lol.

@JAC581 Bra shopping is the WORST but I'm glad you found ones that work well for you! And I would've bought them in every color, too, haha.
@nx9j4zk5eh your good, bad, AND ugly all sound like excellent progress. You've found out your limitations, and you're putting changes in your life in action so you can succeed. It's so inspiring, good for you. And not stress-binging is a stellar victory! It's so hard to change those habits we know aren't helpful, you're doing great.

I hope everyone had a great weekend & happy mother's day to all the mother's here.
Saturday evening I went to watch my step-dad's old band play. I hadn't seen them together in almost 20 years. They are a lot of fun to watch. When I got back to town I met some friends for drinks. Sunday was a lazy day. I usually meal prep, but I had no desire to move myself off the sofa.
I started a new book yesterday. The Real Deal by Melissa Foster. I'm still reading Evelyn Hugo, but wanted to read something light & fluffy yesterday. So far I'm really liking it.
Bought a new dress to wear today. So comfortable & I've already gotten tons of compliments on it. So I know what I'll be living in this summer! I ordered 2 colors, I can't wait for the 2nd one to come in. And it's from Walmart of all places! I could have absolutely gone down a size, but I also like how flowy it currently it is. I may return the 2nd one I ordered for the smaller size, but we'll see.6 -
I drank so much tea, water, and Gatorade this week... managed to lose a pound despite being in bed all week. Didn't have much of an appetite while sick with COVID, but managed to get 3 squares a day. Ended up subbing my snacks with more liquids. And sleeping. Lot's of sleeping. I think getting COVID ended up being a blessing in disguise because it forced me to take a step back from work. I get frustrated with myself when I'm unproductive, and this forced me to slow down and focus on me. Plus, it never got bad enough for me to go to the hospital. If I had gotten COVID while I was still obese and hadn't spent the past year working on my cardio-vascular fitness, it might not have been so mild, even with being fully vaccinated. Silver linings...

The only goal I made this week was eating out 3 meals or less. lol. Going to add goals 3, 6, and 8 back this week. Then the rest the next week. No need to give myself long COVID by rushing back into things.9 -

🌷Work in the ‘fitness lab’ every single day!
🌷Burn around 500 calories daily. The goal is to eat maintenance all the time at goal weight “1500 calories”. If I burn 500 calories from exercise a day I will lose around 1 pound a week, while eating the amount of calories I will need to eat for smaller me.
🌷Be patient! Remember that increments are where it is at, and focus on habits.
🌷Weigh the food in the ‘test kitchen’!
🌷Remember: Total loss of over 120 lbs!!
Good news and other news, I do not have uterine cancer: biopsy was negative (woo hoo!). The Dr. is leaning towards surgery to get the fibroid out, and I have many feelings about this.
When my health went down at 21, it happened right after the laparoscopy where my heart stopped and the nurse said it was the demerol. The second they put it in me, I flat-lined. I woke up with a vision of the afterlife (got to see my guardian angel, so that was nice), and a destroyed thyroid. My extreme fatigue was constant and I was bedridden for a couple years (for no reason the Dr.s could find).
So I have been hiving for a week non-stop. I have not had to take prednisone, so that is nice - I have not been successful at losing any weight on prednisone. But that might change this time around, it just makes me very hungry and retains water. I should be able to maintain (minus water weight of course) depending on how much of it I have to take. I have to take half a sleeping pill because I just can't sleep through the itchiness. I want other options with the fibroid, preferably ones that don't destroy my health. The other med they gave me to hinder bleeding, compromised my kidneys. At this point I just wonder, can't I just be topped off with iron every few months? If not, I guess I will have to make a decision which church to be buried at - because I have zero confidence in surviving this nonsense. I don't know how women survived peri-menopause in the old days. Sorry to rant.
I don't have many people to talk to, because my good friends husband died yesterday, may his soul rest in peace ♱ Larry and Carol had a daughter who died in a car wreck when she was 16, and so Mother's day was already going to be hard. Words just fail. They had just turned 70 and moved to a place with land 2 years ago, to enjoy their retirement. In January, Larry thought he had the flu went to the hospital and he had cancer of the liver and had bone cancer everywhere. They didn't even know he had cancer, so it was shocking. He was a Vietnam vet, and did 3 tours. He will be buried next to his daughter in Connecticut.
Keep on keeping on, and I really really hope that all you ladies have the best day ever!!!!! Please, for me, have a truly wonderful and blessed and loving day!! And I also hope that you Mother's had a super wonderful Mother's Day!10
