Breathtaking. Thank you so much for sharing. And you are quite a good photographer!
ETA: AF so far this week and plan AF tonight. DH has a work event so home alone makes that easier.
ETA2: But I've had a large appetite for the past 2 weeks. I'm wondering if it is connected to the pretty strong corticosteroid for poison ivy. I've been eating every single maintenance calorie and slightly over maintenance last week... to my best count, which may have been an undercount when there were moments of standing in the pantry just looking for what I could eat fast. I try to account for it all later, but I know it's never as accurate as a planned & plated meal. I'm giving generous assent to eating more under the circumstances, but I'm just trying to keep it on the rails of the planned & plated variety vs. unplanned splurges. It's also hard to sleep. I'm so fidgety, flopping around all night, hard to lie still. I had a HARD nap yesterday, and that felt great.
@ahoy_m8 Dont forget about those steroids. I am on high doses of steroids at least once a summer due to a severe allergy to poison ivy and I am an absolute monster on them. It’s like an out of body experience. I end up taking more anxiety meds while I’m on them. I can’t get enough water and forget about sleeping. I’m not sure where you live but having poison ivy in the summer heat is miserable! Take care!

I'm Dawn
I joined this thread in November 2018. I had my first AF day soon thereafter. It was hard! I stayed with one AF day per week for awhile and then gradually increased that.
I will continue on with what has been attainable for me, 16-20 AF days per month. So trying to keep it to 3A days per week or less.
I am drinking less for weight loss. 20 more pounds to shed still.
Diary Style
Friday June 24 - 2 drinks. I almost do the drunkorexic thing sometimes. I definitely do not eat healthy food when I have alcohol. I substitute calories for drinks and badder things. Planned drinks Saturday afternoon
Saturday June 25 - Drinks throughout the afternoon and evening. Nice and hot here, and I got lots done in the yard (although it looks like I barely made a dent. Sunday will be another to work in the yard all day, planning AF
Rolling total: 15AF days out of 25 days4 -

I ran across this video today, Scott Pinyard talking about Liberation so you can Moderate. He is connected with Annie Grace. He made some really good points... making me think that today would be a good day for me to start a 30 days AF.4 -
Hi all! I’ve been lurking this thread for a few days. What a fun bunch you are! Do you know if there will be a July Drink Less Challenge? TIA!6

@joans1976 welcome! Yep, this continues every month- and it is a fun and genuinely awesome group!
@Lilylady3k what a beautiful grand baby! She is sweet and you look so happy!
@ahoy_m8 I get the IDGAF feeling at the end of a workday when I crawl home exhausted, mentally and physically. I can totally see getting it when there is other upsetment in our lives. I always find that connecting to people, plants and animals makes me feel better, whether I’m anxious, bored, or stressed. This usually translates to a a bike ride or walk with my dog on the canal, where I notice flowers blooming, turtles sunning themselves, Blue Herons stalking their dinner, rapidly growing Canada Geese, etc. it always makes me feel better. If the weather is lousy, I find immersing myself in a project like knitting to be helpful. Since I’m pretty lousy at it, it takes all my concentration!
Finally got the boat in the water, and spent most of the weekend adjusting dock lines, cleaning and setting up. We took a lovely sail yesterday and it was all worth it! Hopefully soon we can master backing into and out of our slip- it was not pretty, and we almost hit another boat, a day after hitting one of the pilings. Ugh. Nothing to see here!6 -
Hi All - I joined this thread a little late, starting June 20. I'm drinking less for weight loss. My goal is minimum of 3A days per week or less. I've been stuck at the same weight for a while now and want to lose 15 pounds.
Weekly Diary- Monday June 20 - AF - Was very tempted to have a beer at dinner with my husband, but resisted.
- Tuesday June 21 - 1 after-dinner drink (bourbon shot on the rocks). This was not planned.
- Wednesday June 22 - AF
- Thursday June 23 - 3 total drinks, 2 beers with water in between (yay) and a bourbon on the rocks later. Not too bad. I had counted the two beers in my daily calories. The bad thing is I gave in to late night munchies and ate a bunch of almonds..
- Friday June 24 - AF - The weekend is here with 1 AF day left as part of my goals. I'm wishing I had saved one of my AF days for the weekend. Update: It helped thinking about my goal then also reminding myself that I have one more A day left.
- Saturday June 25 - 4.5 total - Last A day this week (goal). Ate out for breakfast, lunch, dinner and wasn't very disciplined with food and drinks. I'm hoping my 51-mile bike ride will cover the calories. We went to a craft brewery for lunch (1 beer), I had wine at dinner (2 glasses), then to a craft brewery for music (1.5 beers).
- Sunday June 26 - AF - Gained almost 2 over Friday and Saturday (ugh!). I need to stop thinking that burning a gazillion calories on a bike ride will make up for a high calorie day. I'm adjusting my goal. @dawnbgethealthy, agree with you in that that I don't eat healthy food when I have alcohol.
Rolling total: 3AF out of 7 days (YAY! I met my weekly goal which is great, but making adjustments). It really helps to track!
New goal: No more than 3A days weekly (original). I'm adding a glass of water between drinks when drinking more than one, and no more than 3 drinks on a high activity day.5 -
Hello to everyone
Today the cabinet install starts. I will survive.
Yesterday, 2 beers at lunch, complete with pissy waitstaff. I was so close to being a 'Karen' but held my tongue. Thanked the bartender (in front of pissy).....for her great service. Kill'em with kindness, just not directed at pissy, I chose to ignore.
@missmay Sorry about the house sale. You will survive girl. Paint! I will give you 9lbs for free!7 -
@RockinRobyn672
Oh, so burning lots of calories doesn't make up for high calorie days? That could be what I am doing wrong : - )6 -

Thanks, all, for the great comments. @dawnbgethealthy I think you totally have my number re: feeling tired of discipline. When I get the IDGAF, it's usually on Sunday after a whole week of being in control (especially if I have had to work hard at that). To @globalhiker's point, I was AF M-Th so it was not an alcohol carryover from the prior day in this instance, but it could be part of what's going on when my willpower is low on Sunday. @joans1976 Good point about the steroids, too. You have my sympathy. They're rough. To be fair, though, I do get the IDGAF when I'm not taking steroids, too. @Womona I almost felt better just reading about your outdoor time. Very pastoral. We're supposed to get a "cold front" which will take us from 100+F down to the 90'sF this week, and that is a welcome respite.
My Friday was not great. I made a pretty dinner with pasta from scratch, and busy hands in the kitchen probably did help (I don't have a machine so it's all by hand). Not as good as outdoors, but something. Had 2 glasses of wine with dinner and then opened another bottle. Always a bad idea. Only had one glass out of that one but ate DH's snack food afterward. Chips and crackers. Unplanned. Interestingly, Saturday was so much easier. DH opened a bottle after dinner and I was content to pass with my watermelon minty soda.
I'm going to watch that Scott Pinyard video later today, so thanks for posting that @looneycatblue. I've heard him podcast with Annie but have never watched a video. I am going to have a think about how to tread a little lighter. Sometimes I say my weight is a battle -- one I am winning! -- but a battle nonetheless. It takes effort. I think if I could figure out how to achieve the same result with less effort, less internal arguing with myself, then I would be less susceptible to the discipline exhaust and IDGAF episodes. Work in progress...7 -

A bit of a struggle, just reminded myself how good I am going to feel in the morning. Took 2 cans of La Cruix sparkling water to get me through it, plus a couple of snacks. 😏7 -

Week 2- Monday June 27 - AF, planned my meals and followed it, and Peloton workout. My weight is going down. If I can just hold whatever I lose Monday - Thursday over the weekend, that would make me extremely happy.
