@dawnbgethealthy - Is your work schedule this next week with the festival going on ... allow you to enjoy the daily Zumba class? That sounds like fun! And the parade going right by your house is perfect!
Do you have any college renters this summer or will they return in the fall?2 -

Aww, thanks for asking!
I top loaded my week so that I will be free for Zumba (5:30-6:30 Thursday and Friday) in the park 2 small blocks from me. Very geekily excited about that lol. There is another Zumba in the park Saturday at 9am which will energize me for the parade (10:30) and the rest of the day's offerings.
So many events that I like, it has not happened for a couple of years.
Free pancake breakfasts each morning (I don't eat pancakes and of course watch my calories) that I will not be attending, free bbqs all over the place, free transit for Saturday.
What I will be attending: Wiener dog races, Strongman (and woman) competition, restaurant tasting, skateboard demo, Pet competition, and a Market.
There are all sorts of sports happening spread throughout the town: Bocce, soccer, beach volleyball, slopitch, fishing derby.
There are beer gardens and nightly concerts, but I don't stay up that late : - )
There is roller skating at the Curling rink starting at 5pm on Saturday. I may dig out my roller blades. I am a terrible roller skater, so will also have to dig out all sorts of knee, elbow, and wrist pads if I have the energy to go and try that. I haven't had those skates on in more than 20 years, not even sure if I can stand up on them. So funny, because I am an ice skater, but the mechanism is quite different.
As for renters, I only rent September to April because I usually get lots of company in the summers and need my 2 extra bedrooms. Plus I always need a break from having people living here. I miss the income, but don't miss having to get out of my pajamas before having coffee.
I have filled those rooms to the brim already. I am the opposite of a minimalist, I tried editing once and didn't like it. I have one sister that saves everything and another who lives with the bare minimum. I definitely have a lot of stuff in my small house, like 5 bins of Christmas stuff, summer clothes, winter clothes etc.
@globalhiker will be coming back through here on Monday, and I look forward to spending some more time with her and her DH. Glad to not have any tenants.6 -

I joined this thread in November 2018. I had my first AF day soon thereafter. It was hard! I stayed with one AF day per week for awhile and then gradually increased that.
I will continue on with what has been attainable for me, 16-20 AF days per month. So trying to keep it to 3A days per week or less.
I am drinking less for weight loss. 20 more pounds to shed still.

Saturday June 11 - 2 drinks. As usual, drinks inflate my scale, so it is time to rack up some AF days for sure.
Sunday June 12 - AF - I had an AF beer after working hard all day outside. I "needed" something, glad that I resisted a Daiquiri. Going to try to remain AF until Saturday. We have our big 4 day Festival coming up, which includes Zumba in the park every day starting Thursday, so I want to feel fresh. The parade goes right by my house Saturday morning, and that usually includes coffee and baileys with friends as we watch it.
Monday June 13 - AF - Kind of jelly of those who can easily say (and do) Mon-Thurs AF. However, I have lost 1 pound over the past 2 AF days, so I need to keep that in my mind.
Tuesday June 14 - 2 drinks - Yep, didn't make it until Saturday. I worked very early and very late Monday and Tuesday to try and free myself up for later in the week. It was raining anyway, so I figured that I might as well bang out as many jobs as I could. It was late when I got home, I didn't even think about being AF, the cocktails went down so nice. I didn't even have dinner I was so tired.

Made it through book club at mexican restaurant without ordering a margarita! Got home and DH had an open bottle of wine, had his glass and offered to pour me one. I declined. AF this evening.
June accountability: 7 days AF
Alcohol: 8 days (15 drinks)
Goal: Limit 1-2 glasses per day; 12-16 AF days per month. Aim to drink no more than 2 nights in a row.5 -
@dawnbgethealthy , I saw my first grizzly yesterday and that was a km from our condo! Look forward to meeting up next week for sure!
My diet was terrible last night, had a chocolate bar and almost a full bottle of wine. The condo owners left it for us and I arrived tired and hungry after a long day of driving in the dreary cold rain.
Plans for today is AF, wait for a bit of sun, and explore the area.

@globalhiker
Hoping that you can post some photos here for us of your adventures!
A Grizzly! OMG!! Can you run faster than your DH?? Lol.
Wishing you better weather, this weather is not normal at all for this time of year.
It has been sunny here for the last couple of days, but looks like it is might start raining again starting Sunday : - (
Looking forward to seeing you on Monday : - )

Wednesday June 15 - AF - Felt like having drinks after working in the yard after work, but I seem to feel like having drinks every day. Some days I have more willpower than others. Some days I have motivation because of what I have going on the following day. Whatever it takes I suppose. Zumba in the park for Thursday and Friday after work, so I want to be bright and energetic.

@dawnbgethealthy - The festival sounds like a number of really interesting experiences! Would love to hang out with you and play!!! So much to consider and hard to choose what to do with many fun options! Have fun!!!3
-
Hi again! Checking in a little late as work has been crazy. So far 15/16 AF days! Had one drink on Wednesday with a nice dinner. It was supposed to be a food/beer pairing night with 4 courses and 4 beers but got rescheduled due to staff illnesses, and we were offered a free drink as a sorry for the inconvenience. I was pretty bummed because I’d been looking forward to it all month! Well, hopefully we can get out there next month.6

Thursday June 16 - AF - Zumba got rained out. I am glad that I broke my habit of having drinks when disappointed a couple of years ago.
I was willing to do it (Zumba) in the park in the rain, I did walk over there, but it was a no go. I washed most of the furniture on my porch instead lol. Planned AF for Friday, lots of events going on for Saturday.

The festival sounds really fun! Too bad Zumba got rained out yesterday. Hopefully it was fun today. Having a drink as a consolation to disappointment… I can see that being a habitual thought pattern and appreciate your highlighting it.
AF since Monday and drinks tonight. Low key evening. DH and I have poison Ivy. Pretty uncomfortable. Hard to sleep.6 -
Hello to everyone
I have had my sister in town since Sunday night so stayed AF. This afternoon DH and I did go out for chinner then I came home and took a long nap.
I got back one of the estimates for the remodel. Now if I can just get folks to commit to a time frame...ugg.
So much going on in all your communities! We are having what they call 'Meeker Days' this weekend. Arts and Crafts, Food Truck vendors, live stage shows, etc. We plan to go look around for a few hours. They close several blocks off which is great and if you don't mind walking a bit it is the perfect summer activity.
Anyway waving at you all, and will check back in later7 -
We are going to try to make it up Sulfur mountain in Banff today. Not really rainy here but cloudy and grey. Got in 2.5 he's walk yesterday around town. Before that, hiked Johnston Canyon but that paled in comparison to Maligne Canyon in Jasper. Husband preferred teahouse hike at Lake Louise which was very nice but icy.
I am doing ok considering vacation. Managing by waiting until end of day and eating dinner first. Mandarin flavored tea is hitting the spot. Sticking to my piccolo size white wine quantity 1. Much easier by waiting until it's late in the day.
Congrats to those of you racking up all those AF days! Doesn't it feel awesome?6 -

Got a bunch done in the yard instead, including weeding and hilling up 2 of the 6 rows of potatoes. Some are not quite tall enough to hill up yet. Saturday will be out and about everywhere. Planned drinks late in the day.

Yes. It's the pits. It's all over my torso but DH has it on his face and EYE LIDS! I am a big reactor to poison ivy (was not always that way!!) so I am always, always on the lookout for it and super careful. I'm especially careful about shoes that can track it into the house (since both of us get our exercise outdoors, roaming around the neighborhood). DH thinks he got it on his hands working in our own yard, then touched his face, then touched me. At least he is apologetic.
Today as pre-Father's Day celebration we're going to DH's favorite brewery event where they give you 3 beers. The problem is 3 beers make me drunk (speaks from experience). After the 2nd beer, I forget that a 3rd is a bad idea. So I need to take that wise awareness of disappointment (or in my case poison ivy pity) and NOT connect it to a reason to drink. I'm going to have beer, but I am going to drink less than 3.9 -
Hi all, your stories are encouraging to me. My month has gone decently so far. I had two days where I didn't mark it down, but I know if there had been more than one drink, I'd recall it. So I'm figuring one of those was probably no, and one was probably yes, which makes me 12AF/18 as of today, assuming I don't have something yet tonight. But, some others have mentioned, I'm also trying to not have consecutive nights. So I had a small 3 oz wine last night. At pub trivia on Wed, I had Busch NA.
I have an added incentive in that some routine lab work for my annual check up had me with a slightly elevated liver number. Dr. didn't mention alcohol but I figure it certainly isn't going to hurt that I'm watching that! I had already discussed with her that I was watching my amount after slipping into more over the pandemic times. She did mention avoiding tylenol and drinking lots of water. I don't take tylenol that often, though I use it more than motrin, but I've also never tracked that. I've never had anything odd in my labs before like that, so hoping it was a transient thing.6 -
Previous week- 5AF and 2A- best week I've had in a long time!

I'm glad that Thursday I was AF since we had so much to deal with ... DH had 2 bottles of wine and had trouble keeping things in perspective. My DIL said later that while she was exhausted and crying and unable to think that I stayed calm, booked her a flight and kept in touch with my son's friend. BUT Friday everything kind of got to me and I let the drink take a drink. Always a bad decision.
Last night I was AF after indulging on Friday to handle stress ... which is not the enjoyable way to have wine. Lots going on. Son was on work trip in CA when he got really sick Thurs. He text his wife in Austin but she is a nurse without phone on her during clinical so got the message after a 14 hr shift. Curled up on bathroom hotel floor, throwing up blood with 101 fever. Lucky that a really good friend lived near by. My son was not able to talk over phone but text him "Come take me to the hospital". His friend turned the phone around in his meeting with his boss to show him the message ... and off he went. REALLY good friend. stayed with him at the hospital until 1:30 in the morning. Blood test indicated he was septic. Then the CT Scan indicated he had a ruptured appendix. We flew her out there early Friday morning. DH drove to Austin to pick up their very large 6 mo old puppy. He is okay after emergency surgery at 2am Friday morning and now on pain meds, IVs, antibiotics, etc ... he'll be there for the week. His wife is missing a week of accelerated nursing school and they may kick her out if they don't accept this excuse.
Also on Friday DD pregnant @ 38 weeks and her husband were in a wreck on the way to OBGYN. All are okay. Doc thought baby would be delivered Friday but the little one is going to hold off until her scheduled induction on Thursday.
DIL is out of town Fri-Sun so my son is handling baby girl. He had to work Saturday so we had her for most of the day.
Then renegotiated Thursday night and Friday the sell of my mom's home (sell by owner and I'm managing it). Buyer could not get bank loan due to the poor condition of the property (lots of add ons with no permits so if you look closely there are issues plus hard to get wind and flood insurance on the coast.
So yes STRESS. But I pulled it together last night and did not join DH and my son drinking red wine with our steaks. Small victories.

@dawnbgethealthy - Sorry that the outdoor Zumba classes were cancelled! Did they have the parade in the rain? One of these days I'm going to act on my travel wishes!
@ahoy_m8 - That just sounds miserable. Hope you have relief soon!

@lilylady3k wow you have a lot going on in your world. Sounds like the drama is subsiding and calmer days ahead. Congrats to your husband retiring, starting new and exciting times.
Yesterday we hiked up Sulphur mtn. and it was so worth it. I will post pix in a few days. And, I did not feel like drinking all day long! I had dinner out and drank a diet pepsi. The place We went to had no wine and I picked it for that reason. Afterwards, our of habit, I bought a single size serving can of rose to take back to our hotel, but I had no interest in it. Incredible to be drinking diet Pepsi on vacation and on a Saturday night! Morale of the story, eat dinner first, get in fun exercise during the day, then at night feel happy and relaxed.5 -

Was not AF today. We went to total wine n more. I purchased a few wines tired 2 of the three. Poured out the first glass, sipped the 2nd and did not go back for 2nd's. Oh well.
Today we are off for a hike in our 'cool' weather. It might get up to 60 today??? Sheesh I am still wearing sweaters/long sleeves and jeans. When will my summer start????3 -

Saturday June 18 - Drinks. Beautiful sunny day for the busiest day of the festival and the parade. I had just a quarter shot of bailey's in my coffee in the morning watching the parade from my porch. There were just 2 of us, some years I have had 12 people on my porch for the parade. It was an excellent day all around. Planned AF for Sunday. Going out for dinner on Monday with @globalhiker and her DH here in Cranbrook : - )

@Lilylady3k what a stressful time! I almost think I’d rather have poison Ivy than everything you’ve had. Hope DS recovers quickly and DIL can make up the school work. Such a scary situation! And bummer on the buyer’s bank loan. Does that mean you will need a cash buyer?
DH decided against brewery event at the last minute so quiet afternoon yesterday (he had work he had to do) and I made a nice dinner and we had a bottle of wine. Took lunch to my parents for Father’s Day today and my mom nagged me to help sort through her stuff. I’m possibly more allergic to that than poison Ivy! Laying low in heat today.5 -
@ahoy_m8 - I'm working on an owner finance contract with them which will give my mom an extra income stream. Working through all the legal contracts and though processes to ensure that my mom's risk is reduced.3
