Losing 65 lbs is expensive!

I’ve had to buy a whole new wardrobe over the past year. Still trying to lose another 5 lbs or so but I hope my clothes won’t be too loose. I guess it’s a good expense then?

Lol, yeah, I bought a lot of used clothes, and a lot of clothes with stretch while losing weight.
It's also what got me accustomed to wearing the same limited few items of clothing every day, which is a habit I've kept since then.13 -
I’ve tried to keep purchases to a minimum but now that many styles and cuts fit me (they never have before) I like how they look! It’s a good problem to have, I suppose?13

I'm in the process of backing into old pants and using exercise clothes to cover the gaps at this point. Though I'm definitely going to end up buying a bunch of clothes eventually. Looking forward to the new clothes. Not looking forward to the credit card bill.7

Congratulations! Yes, it's a tough problem to have. I had to buy some clothese at my high weight in March for a vacation. Now they are too big. I'm shopping in my closet right now because I'm starting to fit into my pre covid clothes.9

I have two pairs of jeans on the way and a new shirt for our annual beach vacation at the end of this month

I lost at least 50 pounds and had to buy a replacement wedding ring. The original had gotten so loose it came off one day while I was out. That was annoying.10

Oh man the same happened to me! I was playing with the dogs in the back yard and it flew off my hand! I scrambled to bass pro shops to get a metal detector and I found it! So instead I got Qalo silicone rings to replace it. I wear the real one on a chain around my neck.10 -
The money you'll save on future healthcare cost by getting fit will buy offset that 100x28

Sell your old clothes on Ebay or consignment shops ... plus sizes are hard to come by. Then you'll have extra funds for the new clothes. So worth it!!!

A year and a half ago I bought $60 work of tops at Macys. After I had lost 30 pounds, was going to wear one. They were all too large - and I looked frumpy. I hit the return date by like two days. Now I buy Walmart tops. I bought shorts (in Florida) at Goodwill.8

That was one of the downsides of weight loss, for me: I needed a whole new wardrobe. It wasn't so much the cost - I limped through the loss process with minimum excess expenditure, and exploited sales and consignment shopping at goal. It's that I hate clothes-shopping - any time, any type - with a fiery passion.
On the positive side, that's one thing that's helped me keep at a healthy weight for multiple years since loss: I shudder at the thought of needing another whole new wardrobe, all at once. Just no. If my jeans get snug, it's time to cut back, period, end of sentence.17 -

Also… celebrate your success. I am happy about how I look now, feel justified in my feelings of accomplishment, and I don’ t want to hide in clothes that are multiple sizes too big for me. Appropriate self confidence in one’s appearance is part of positive overall physical and mental health. I loved buying new clothes that fit correctly and am not embarrassed to admit it.6

You can buy a ring guard that wraps around the back of the ring to reduce the size so that you can continue to wear it if you want.

See that’s the thing. I enjoy how my new well fitting clothes look. So buying them is tough but it feels great when I see myself in them. So I celebrate that each time.

Yes!
The expenditure sucks but it is like a reward to get something new and look good wearing it!3 -

Yeah, I'm not that great at womaning. I'm not very concerned about how I look, because I'm mostly inside it, not outside looking at it. I stay clean, and try to stick with "simple but respectable" as an aesthetic, because simple things are more timeless so I can shop less often . . . but I don't get much reward-kick from how I look. It matters to me more from the standpoint of fitting in well enough socially, i.e., so that people don't reject associating with me because I dress poorly, and that's about it. It's not a lack of pride, it's a lack of interest in that dimension.
I know, it's weird. 🤷♀️ It might be life-enhancing in some non-obvious way if I felt differently, dunno. At this age (66) and stage (retired), I'm not very motivated to change.
I'm not criticizing anyone who feels differently, not even slightly: The world is more interesting when people have varied approaches and attitudes. I sincerely support and encourage friends who enjoy shopping, compliment them on their clothing choices as appropriate, and all that kind of thing.7 -
Ohh yeah!! I think this expense is the most gratifying, been able to looks that before will never consider.2
