So I crunched some numbers and realized that I can possibly give myself the gift of "healthy" (in terms of BMI) weight for Christmas next year if I stay the course and throw in some extra workouts along the way. That would be a great goal to aim for to help me remember what I'm aiming for in my weak moments.
Generally, things are going pretty well. 1.5 weeks in to the eating plan and feeling mostly comfortable. Exercise-wise... well let's just say I got reacquainted with my old friend DOMS lol. Still going to get my steps in today, but going to take it easy otherwise.

I still have 5 days to go till the next weigh in and I'm only 1.2 lbs away from what was my whole goal weight drop for the month!! Definitely was not expecting this. My body really loves calorie counting.

Congratulations on seeing happy results! If you're just starting out, be aware you shouldn't expect to keep up the fast pace. It's very common for initial results to be rapid. Some is just having less food moving through your body. Some is water weight as you access your glycogen stores. So if things slow down, or even stop for a little while, don't blame yourself or feel bad about it. It happens. Just keep doing what you're doing, and you will find success!6 -

I've been on my journey since May 12...... I joined MFP on June 7th. Any weight drop due to water loss happened the first week when I dropped 4.4lbs. I was away camping for 2 weeks and still lost but wasn't calorie counting like I do when at home. I don't think I was eating enough. This isn't my first rodeo so I'm not expecting these large drops to continue. Each week when they do is a gift to my health. I'm truly expecting to lose 1-2 each week which will be a blessing. My 2 times before I lost every week.....losing is not the issue. It's the maintenance. Once I arrive at my goal weight.....this will be a totally different story from now.3 -

Sounds like you understand what comes next, and just keep sticking to it. You already know this.
You're right about maintenance too.

My name is Donna. I am 62 years old and I live in the Midwest of the US. I am 5β 5β tall.
Start Weight (from end of June 2022): 202.8
Goal Weight: xxxxx (5 pound loss) 197.8
End of Challenge Weight: xxxxx
Ultimate Goal Weight: 145-155 (Iβll know it when I get there!)
07/01β¦..β¦..202.8 (Trend Weight: 203.0)β¦.. Good luck everyone this month! Letβs make our dreams come true!
07/05β¦..β¦..205.0 (Trend Weight: 203.6)β¦.. An overnight jump. Iβm not surprised. No waterpill yesterday, 3 Β½ hours sleep last night and a holiday bbq with desserts/snacks that I should have avoided. Sometimes I give in but I never give up.
07/12β¦..β¦..196.6 (Trend Weight: 201.3)β¦.. Soβ¦I tested positive for Covid after I became sick last Thursday. Triple vaccinated so the symptoms are dizzy, weakness, occasional fever, tons of coughing producing phlegm, fatigue. Could be worse but the coughing does make the throat pretty sore. It has not affected my appetite, my hunger level or my cravings. I have been watching every bite I eat and it is so much easier with no outside influences. No holiday. No social gatherings. No grocery store or dollar store trips. No lunches or dinners out with friends. No traveling. No daughter bringing home goodies. So the weight is coming off, even without much exercise. Ultimately, we all know that what we fork into our pieholes is up to us and no one else is to blame. Clearly, social times are my weakness and I need to learn to buckle up buttercup and not fold into so many temptations. When I log faithfully, I am reminded that portion control is a huge part of this equation. It needs to be front and center when I am faced with social situations that involve food.
07/19β¦..β¦..(Trend Weight: xxxxx)β¦..
07/26β¦..β¦..(Trend Weight: xxxxx)β¦..
07/31β¦..β¦..(Trend Weight: xxxxx)β¦..
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!
