I'm loving my kitchen scales. So much better than making educated guesses. It's got a button you can set it back to zero and then add the next item to your plate.

My name is Ian and I am a 62 year old male from the Midlands of the UK. I am 6' 0" tall. I have a number of health conditions which prevent me from doing aerobic exercise and I take medication which as a side effect lowers my metabolic rate and increases my feelings of hunger. I can't walk so use a mobility scooter. As a result my weight loss depends totally on calorie intake reduction.
My initial target is 100kg, to move from obese to simply overweight. I would like to get my waist size below 40" too.

Keeping within calorie range of 1,200 - 1,300 calories each day, so based on previous experience should see weight loss in time. I'm surprised though at how my weight loss has plateaued after such a good start. Haven't lost anything in almost a week! Started walking a short distant yesterday. Yes, I know, 300 steps?! Trust me, with ME/CFS this is a major achievement!4 -
I’ve got my calories and logging under control, my macros somewhat under control, my water intake under control. Now, I want to lower my sodium intake and up my daily step goal! I have a doctors appointment at the end of the month and would like some good news….I know I have a long way to go but I have to get there some time.

Yesterday was tough. Worked a silly long shift and ate way under calories. It was time for bed and I was so tired but I still needed to eat 400 calories. I’m aware this is not a healthy, sustainable way to lose weight. I just couldn’t do it, bed won out. Hoping to make up for it today or just move on.

However, I’m on vacation until 8/22! Plans fell through so it is a staycation but I have plenty to do! So happy!

The weight is coming off which will help with health but I really want to improve my heart health. The electricians showed up quickly and worked until 11:45 pm at night to get the problem solved which was a whole new electrical box with an upgraded service. Something I was going to do anyway, so why not tie it all up neatly with a bow at once? Grateful for electricity and grateful for water today. My weight, my trend weight and my fat % is exactly the same as yesterday and I was surprised to see that because it was a model day. However, I realized that I did not take the heart-healthy water pill (because of the birthday party) so I probably have fluid built up. Also, I was stuck in the house all day with electricians and stuck sitting in the dark for several hours last night so exercise of any kind was out the window. Slept well though when they finally left. I was exhausted! I’m ready to lose some weight my friends!
08/23-201.0-(Trend Weight 200.2)- I forgot to take my meds yesterday in all the reno hupla, so it was too late for the heart-healthy water pill. My feet are pretty bloated and it showed up on the scale. Today I’ll take my pill for sure and that may give me a more accurate picture of my true weight. Tomorrow I travel to the cardiologist so lunch or dinner will be out but I will really weigh my options! One of my handymen was put in the hospital with either appendix or intestine infection issues. They are still doing testing. I’m down to one guy and he is the lazier one. But he’s here today putting his 60 to 90 minutes in so I suppose I am supposed to be grateful. No quality sleep last night, so I’m a bit grumpy as you can see but I do speak truth.

I'm Christie, an Aussie, mum to the BEST three year old in the world (I am not even biased). I absolutely need to get serious about my weight and stop "treating myself". I had lost 15kg from my initial starting weight, but then started working from home and became less active through the day as a result. I'm finding it hard to get my rhythm back even though I'm back to working on site now. I've gained back too much of that 15kg loss. I plan to go back to basics because I KNOW it works for me!

Aug 4 - 166.2 (Have stress at work. Afterwards I will decompress with some kind of exercise. Last night I chose to do upper body strength as my exercise of choice and it felt great.)

Aug 6 - 164.6 (Nice sunny day here today. I am going to aim for 10,000 steps which will require 1-2 longer walks around our lakeside trailer park. We have a bigger dinner tonight my husband is making for our trailer friends.)
Aug 7 - 165.8 (Yesterday I underperformed on my fitness and food plans so the return to the higher weight is completely expected. Tonight we return from the lake and have supper with friends before heading home.)
Aug 8 - 167 (Yesterday we came back from the lake, walked to and from a friend's house for a pizza supper, and then I did some yoga and strength. A good day.)

My husband is going for a long bike ride as he's training for a Gran Fondo so the dog and I will be hanging at our trailer. Will try to get her out for a few short walks before it gets too hot.)
Aug 14 - 163.8 (Feels good to see my second day in a row in my maintenance range since I got back from holidays. I planned my food well yesterday and got my 10K steps. My husband leaves from the lake to head north for a business trip this evening so my Mom is coming out for a BBQ and visit and then I'll go back home with her.)
Aug 15 - 165.2 (My husband is away on business so it feels quiet. I plan to walk my dog before work today as it'll be a hot day. Will get my activity off on the right foot!)
Aug 16 - 164.4 (Rode the Peloton last night and did some healthy cooking. Pre-prepped a breakfast
smoothie that was a tasty start to my day. Lots of fibre today!)
Aug 17 - 164.6 (Beautiful sunny day here. Work is busy, one foot in front of the other. Got pulled into an unexpected work meeting and missed my lunch time walk. Tonight I have to get a cavity filled at the dentist and then I'll be able to go out for my walk.)
Aug 18 - 166.8 (Busy day at work as I'm off tomorrow and have lots of meetings. Also have a doctor's appointment at lunch so I'll be walking there and back. Step count should be decent when I get home but I still expect my dog will need a walk unless my husband finds a window to get her out before I get home.)
Aug 19 - 167.8 (Today was truly special. I had the day off and my hot air balloon ride that my husband gifted me on our wedding day finally went ahead. We then went to the mountains and biked 70 KM or so... just had so much fun.)

I have been so busy lately and it's definitely my exercise that's being sacrificed. I don't have any choice as something has to give. Doesn't change my maintenance strategy as I eat my exercise calories so it just means they get pared back accordingly.)

Aug 17 - 164.6 (Beautiful sunny day here. Work is busy, one foot in front of the other. Got pulled into an unexpected work meeting and missed my lunch time walk. Tonight I have to get a cavity filled at the dentist and then I'll be able to go out for my walk.)
Aug 18 - 166.8 (Busy day at work as I'm off tomorrow and have lots of meetings. Also have a doctor's appointment at lunch so I'll be walking there and back. Step count should be decent when I get home but I still expect my dog will need a walk unless my husband finds a window to get her out before I get home.)
Aug 19 - 167.8 (Today was truly special. I had the day off and my hot air balloon ride that my husband gifted me on our wedding day finally went ahead. We then went to the mountains and biked 70 KM or so... just had so much fun.)

Aug 21 - 167.8 (Fun day at the lake with a short dog walk and then we returned home and went out to dinner with a friend. Feeling busy for sure.)
Aug 22 - 164.8 (Today was off to a good start and I got a walk in with my dog at lunch but we had an event at work near the end of the day and I ended up putting in a couple extra hours. I have been so busy lately and it's definitely my exercise that's being sacrificed. I don't have any choice as something has to give. Doesn't change my maintenance strategy as I eat my exercise calories so it just means they get pared back accordingly.)
Aug 23 - 164 (Slowly seeing my trend weight come back down. I had two meals out today so I had to be smart about my choices. Work is still busy but I got my 10K steps in. Woot!)

My feet are pretty bloated and it showed up on the scale. Today I’ll take my pill for sure and that may give me a more accurate picture of my true weight. Tomorrow I travel to the cardiologist so lunch or dinner will be out but I will really weigh my options! One of my handymen was put in the hospital with either appendix or intestine infection issues. They are still doing testing. I’m down to one guy and he is the lazier one. But he’s here today putting his 60 to 90 minutes in so I suppose I am supposed to be grateful. No quality sleep last night, so I’m a bit grumpy as you can see but I do speak truth.

Can’t take it today because I am traveling to cardiologist. My weight is up (probably related) from starting point by 0.4 and that is a disappointment. Rest assured, I didn't lose that much "real" weight overnight! I had been carrying some water retention for a while and my body decided to release it all at once. I was as surprised as anyone to see that drop off in one day! Just another reminder of why I weigh every day, imagine working hard on health all week and seeing a gain, you'd think it wasn't worth the work - but by weighing every day I'd see that gain happened overnight so it clearly would be water weight, not fat! My aim is for fat loss, really, the actual number on the scale doesn't matter so much!4 -
My name is Ian and I am a 62 year old male from the Midlands of the UK. I am 6' 0" tall. I have a number of health conditions which prevent me from doing aerobic exercise and I take medication which as a side effect lowers my metabolic rate and increases my feelings of hunger. I can't walk so use a mobility scooter. As a result my weight loss depends totally on calorie intake reduction.

I’ve got my calories and logging under control, my macros somewhat under control, my water intake under control. Now, I want to lower my sodium intake and up my daily step goal! 08/25-199.8-(Trend Weight 200.2)- Onederland! Trying to figure that one out. Travel yesterday with very very little movement. Restaurant meal. Normal (not enough) sleep. Normal TMI. No water pill yesterday due to the travel. However, I was up & down all night going #1. I guess my body deided to finally get rid of some fluid retention in my ankles on it’s own so that must be it. So…cardiologist said absolutely no exercise including taking walks! I honestly thought I was approved to at least do that! I am supposed to be re-introduced into everything while being medically supervised (in case of another heart attack). They are especially worried because I still cannot breathe well with exertion. So I must attend cardiac rehab for probably 12 weeks. Of course, that will mean a lot of travel since we don’t have anything like that around here. I’m very disappointed. They are sending me for dopplers on my legs to look for blockages due to some symptoms, my vascular issues, my lack of pulse in the left foot, and my high glucose diabetes. That will be mid September. They are also sending me to a pulmonary function test in mid-October to make sure there isn’t something different going on with the breathing. My lung nodule appears to be stable so maybe COPD? I did smoke for 35 years but I quit 15 years ago! Anyway, sharing what I got in the case that it helps someone go get that medical care you need. Difficulty breathing which is different from before when you exercise? Call your doctor!

Aug 2 - 169.6 (Busy first day back to work but stayed positive. Ate well and focused on my step goal.)
Aug 3 - 167.6 (Dentist after work and then I'll hopefully find time for a Peloton ride or another walk, or both!)
Aug 4 - 166.2 (Have stress at work. Afterwards I will decompress with some kind of exercise. Last night I chose to do upper body strength as my exercise of choice and it felt great.)
Aug 5 - 165.8 (Found time to ride the Peloton last night and it felt good. Off to the lake for the weekend as soon as work is done.)
Aug 6 - 164.6 (Nice sunny day here today. I am going to aim for 10,000 steps which will require 1-2 longer walks around our lakeside trailer park. We have a bigger dinner tonight my husband is making for our trailer friends.)
Aug 7 - 165.8 (Yesterday I underperformed on my fitness and food plans so the return to the higher weight is completely expected. Tonight we return from the lake and have supper with friends before heading home.)
Aug 8 - 167 (Yesterday we came back from the lake, walked to and from a friend's house for a pizza supper, and then I did some yoga and strength. A good day.)

Aug 13 - 164 (Had an unexpected late night due to some concerns with my dog.. she's fine but I definitely slept in this morning. My husband is going for a long bike ride as he's training for a Gran Fondo so the dog and I will be hanging at our trailer. Will try to get her out for a few short walks before it gets too hot.)
Aug 14 - 163.8 (Feels good to see my second day in a row in my maintenance range since I got back from holidays. I planned my food well yesterday and got my 10K steps. My husband leaves from the lake to head north for a business trip this evening so my Mom is coming out for a BBQ and visit and then I'll go back home with her.)
Aug 15 - 165.2 (My husband is away on business so it feels quiet. I plan to walk my dog before work today as it'll be a hot day. Will get my activity off on the right foot!)
Aug 16 - 164.4 (Rode the Peloton last night and did some healthy cooking. Pre-prepped a breakfast
smoothie that was a tasty start to my day. Lots of fibre today!)
Aug 17 - 164.6 (Beautiful sunny day here. Work is busy, one foot in front of the other. Got pulled into an unexpected work meeting and missed my lunch time walk. Tonight I have to get a cavity filled at the dentist and then I'll be able to go out for my walk.)
Aug 18 - 166.8 (Busy day at work as I'm off tomorrow and have lots of meetings. Also have a doctor's appointment at lunch so I'll be walking there and back. Step count should be decent when I get home but I still expect my dog will need a walk unless my husband finds a window to get her out before I get home.)
Aug 19 - 167.8 (Today was truly special. I had the day off and my hot air balloon ride that my husband gifted me on our wedding day finally went ahead. We then went to the mountains and biked 70 KM or so... just had so much fun.)

Aug 22 - 164.8 (Today was off to a good start and I got a walk in with my dog at lunch but we had an event at work near the end of the day and I ended up putting in a couple extra hours. I have been so busy lately and it's definitely my exercise that's being sacrificed. I don't have any choice as something has to give. Doesn't change my maintenance strategy as I eat my exercise calories so it just means they get pared back accordingly.)
Aug 23 - 164 (Slowly seeing my trend weight come back down. I had two meals out today so I had to be smart about my choices. Work is still busy but I got my 10K steps in. Woot!)
Aug 24 - 163.6 (Love these sections where the weight is slowly dropping down. I have been back in my maintenance range for three days now. I am going on holiday again in just over a week so I'm focused on losing as much as I can before then.)

My name is Ian and I am a 62 year old male from the Midlands of the UK. I am 6' 0" tall. I have a number of health conditions which prevent me from doing aerobic exercise and I take medication which as a side effect lowers my metabolic rate and increases my feelings of hunger. I can't walk so use a mobility scooter. As a result my weight loss depends totally on calorie intake reduction.
My initial target is 100kg, to move from obese to simply overweight. I would like to get my waist size below 40" too.

I’ve got my calories and logging under control, my macros somewhat under control, my water intake under control. Now, I want to lower my sodium intake and up my daily step goal! I have a doctors appointment at the end of the month and would like some good news….I know I have a long way to go but I have to get there some time.

Yesterday was tough. Worked a silly long shift and ate way under calories. It was time for bed and I was so tired but I still needed to eat 400 calories. I’m aware this is not a healthy, sustainable way to lose weight. I just couldn’t do it, bed won out. Hoping to make up for it today or just move on.

8/17: 214.9 (!) Met my step count but didn’t increase✖️Way over sodium✖️Looking back I can see I’m not really hitting my goals this month. The weight is coming off which will help with health but I really want to improve my heart health. I’m going to try harder but it’s already a challenge when you are watching calories, macros, alcohol, sodium, steps, exercise and weight. I don’t want to get burnt out!
