TRACEY & JONAH ~ Happy Birthday to you both!
0 -
Have I found my people? I am a 52 year old from Montana. I just quit weight watchers as I am trying to really park down our budget. I was very successful with WW before the pandemic. But I haven’t been able to get back on track very well since gaining back 40lbs that I lost…plus another 10. I know I need he social support. But I can’t justify 50$/month for zoom meetings. So I am hoping that I can find a place here that will be that support I need. I am reading through your comments and I am finding them so encouraging. See ya tomorrow!!!!5

Tracey - how did I miss your birthday? Sounds like a fun time was had by all... What did he think of the dragon gift? Happy birthday (or belated as the case may be).0
-
I am trying to resize my photo. Evidently it did not work. Will continue to try to figure it out!1 -
Tracey - cute kids and ceramics. Such careful work you do.
Lisa - (((hugs)))
Heather - I love hearing about your dates. It warms my heart.
Barbara - good idea, I could just leave some small task and maybe that would be enough to get me back to bed. Hmmmmm....
Carol - I am full of admiration for you for doing some sorting and organizing despite your husband. It would be so much easier not to, knowing he may go behind you and undo what you have done.
I have procrastinated for years, and so I have this enormous task. In retrospect, I realize that if I had spent 20 minutes cleaning out even one drawer or box or shelf a week for the last 20 years since I've been in this house, I would have cleaned/decluttered the equivalent of 1000 drawers, boxes, or shelves. Barbie's philosophy of doing a little at a time and seeing it add up is coming home to me now as I slog through those 1000 drawers/boxes/shelves. I am determined to wean down to the essentials and the items that truly spark joy. The happiness I get from gifting is a large part of my motivation.
I found a writing desk that will work as a drawing desk for my brother when he gets into a new apartment later this year. It was not expensive, I found it on auction. Not free, but reasonable.
I received the first SS check for my brother yesterday. I am so relieved that the woman who owns the group home is no longer in charge of Gary's money. I know she is going to try to get away without turning over what is still on account for him but she will have a surprise coming if she tries that.

Wishing Katla the best.
Welcome to the newbies!5 -
Yeah Carol! Congratulations! I like that little painting above the lamp. Tell me about it.
Today I did all the insides of the windows! Looking goooooood!
I had an appointment to ring my friend L today at 1.30. When I rang she was in the supermarket! I was not amused. Of course she wanted to ring me half an hour later, but I said no. I made another appointment with her for tomorrow. If I say a time, I mean a time. I organise myself around that time. I put a reminder on my phone. I have other things to do, like cleaning! She texted me a grovelling apology, saying she thought it was 2 pm. No, it wasn't.
One thing she did say was that she had bought a copy of my latest book, WHERE AM I?, for her therapist. She wanted to tell me her therapist was happily raving about it. That cheered me up!
DH set off on a quest to get his hair cut, having fallen out with the local barber. He passed three barbers that were all shut, but finally found one, right in Hove, that did him an OAP reduction. He looks great.
Love to all. Last ever 'Shetland' tonight. At least with the current hero/lead.

Debbie - I went to order something from Amazon today, when I looked at my cart it was $500. I looked and it seems my DH has added a 3D printer. I don’t see the necessity, but I’m curious if it is costly to operate.
First- happy belated birthday.
The filament to use in the 3D printer is not too expensive. There are many kinds- my dh uses one that is made out of corn so no toxic fumes beings he uses it in the garage and now has one at his mom's beings he is over there all the time.
I actually ordered two rolls of a metalic rainbow filament for him for an anniversary gift(it is on Monday)
I am glad that dh is selling some of the stuff he is making finally. He kept upgrading printers. I think this is 4, maybe 5 that he has bought. It started out with a deal, buy a certain amount of filament and get the printer free. Of course after a short while, he upgraded, and continues to do it.
His project now , doing he thinks the last of the run, until someone orders another one- the phaser rifle from an episode of Star Trek- he puts electronics in them, skins in metal, etc.
He has other things he wants to make but kept getting orders for these.
The coolest thing he has made but sadly didn't sell, were lithophanes - look straight on and looks like nothing but hold it up to the light and you see the picture- he did personal ones, like a photo of him with his dad and our son.
You can make amazing things with it. He got his first when he semi retired to give him something to do. He has always painted models but now makes the things then paints them.

Just got off the phone with the doc. They had said, no more blood thinners, then next day, stay on them til end of year, then next day, no more blood thinners again, I was like what the hell!!! Which is it. Well I am off of them, I told them to send me a letter of confirmation for my records. Geez! So now I am pill free again.5

Good morning!
Carol - good job, looks great. Baby steps. Hope your hubby leaves his hands off, lol.
This morning I cleaned out the "dishtowel" drawer in the kitchen - what a collection, lots of items other than dishtowels. 1/3 went into a bag for the "free" box. People can use them in their kitchen or for rags or whatever.
Margaret - I saw a video this morning on how to make fermented garlic with honey. I thought of you, it's reputed to be a huge immune booster. I think local garlic has hit the stores and I'm going to get some going. Reminded me a little of the "fire cider" I made a few years ago, but lots easier.
Tracey & Jonah - Happy Birthday. I always enjoy hearing and seeing what he's up to (all of your grands really, but he stands out for some reason.)
Katla - good news, hope your DH can come back with you soon. I know you miss him a lot.
Annemarie - hope the new caregiver works out. Does your DH need round the clock care - are you able to sleep at night or does he need someone with him all the time?
Karen - getting Gary set up sounds like challenging fun. So glad you are now able to oversee his welfare, that has to give you some peace of mind. And joy. I know I'd feel the same way about my brother.
I don't know if it's the grieving process or what, getting things cleaned out/cleaned up/straightened up is really bringing comfort to me. DH didn't like change. I get it. Often it's easier to leave things the way they are, doesn't jangle our brains. That or we just don't "see" things anymore.
DH had a little reading light clamped to a stand sitting next to the wall between the sofa and end table. It struck me this morning... that doesn't have to be there. So I moved it, will use the reading light elsewhere. Need to drag out the vacuum and get the carpet spiffed up.
But I really haven't made a lot of changes, and most of them a person can't see (unless they open a drawer ) Seeing that garbage can fill up each week is very, very rewarding. Ditto for the thrift store box.
Make it a super day, ladies!

going to be a long day- You would think after walking over 9 miles yesterday that I would have slept great but sadly not the case.
Dh was home for a few hours before going to work at midnight. I tried to get to sleep at 10 but didn't finally get really asleep until 2AM (warm shower, my sleep aid, a snack and finally a cup of hot chocolate during those four hours), then woke up a little after 7 and couldn't get back to sleep. It did feel good to just lay there under my comfy blanket with one of the cats but really wanted to sleep a few more hours.
Not sure if it was insomnia again, the cup of coffee I had at 2 PM or a combination- Don't like it!!!
I will walk while waiting for my daycare girl but don't think I will walk as long. Have Zumba at the park tonight. Need to take some Aleve and get the Voltarin cream out for my back. It is screaming this morning. Thankfully, hip and knee are both doing good.
Dh asked me if I was going to class Monday- is it really bad that I would rather go to class, on our anniversary ?! I will talk to him between now and then and maybe go out on Sunday or Tuesday instead. 30yrs but doesn't seem like a special day. What ever we do, it will be a quick meal so he can go back to his mom's. He will buy stuff for me when all I want is just some real quality time. Talking TO me, not AT me. Lots need to change but can't push it now when he is dealing with his mother. Has been this way 26yrs, what is a few more months.
New kitten is doing great-if there are typos, blame it on Kitaro- he has to be in my lap all the time. I did take his pen out so got the space back in the living room and no more litter box in the living room which is wonderful(I spend most of my time in here)
Time to get dressed and get something done around here- dishes are waiting for me as are all the litter boxes Think I will be making some coffee- tea is not doing anything for me this morning.
Have a wonderful day ladies

When my DGC were younger we used to do baking projects at holidays. I miss those days, but now they are teenagers and busy with friends. I tell DH the DGGC will old enough soon to do baking projects. They all grow up so fast and I just pray they have good memories of times with grandma and papa.
Katla--Glad he is looking better, don't forget to take care of yourself at this time also.
Heather--Love the hat and Good Luck to Edie doing the race this weekend. I have a DGS that does those triathlon races. Scares me at times, but he seems to enjoy them. He is a police officer so has to stay in shape.
Tracey--Love the birthday picture, he is really growing up. Looks like everyone had a good time and that is the important thing. Memories.
Rebecca--Your sister is so lucky to have you there and I am sure she is Thankful. So much to deal with on top of grief. Thank you for being you. I am sure you will enjoy you time with Athena.
Rosemarie--Prayers the new nurse works out well and is a big help to both of you. Enjoy your time away.
Rita--Hugs!
I did stop at the gym yesterday, Baby steps getting back in the habit.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE7 -
Lanette ~ I am sure dealing with your husband's belongings has brought back both sad and happy memories. You are to be commended with handling all of these with grace and fortitude.
Tracey ~ Your ceramics are lovely. You must have a very steady hand to be able to paint all of those tiny parts without smearing all over (that would be me).
Debbie ~ Maybe your long walks made you so tired you couldn't sleep. 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
Heather ~ The painting above the lamp was of my husband's parents antique shop. A customer did that for them. It was located on the square in historical Roswell, GA.

Afternoon ladies
Have laundry in the washer and dryer..
Fed Alfie and already stopped and took care of Homie.
Watched the Queens proccesion to Westiminster Hall this morning..
I must say poor King Charles as Heather would say looks knackered..gosh he has been through alot since the Queen died and most all of it in the public eye... you lose your mother granted she was 96 ,but going back and forth between Scotland,Ireland, England and Wales these last few days has probably worn him ragged.. I know the funeral is Monday.. but being King will he have any time to rest at all? Sheesh.
At 25 for it was alot easier than 73 thats for sure.
My brother called me yesterday told me he has Covid.. swell.. Jean had it,because the caregiver had it who gave it to her mom who was hospitalized with it but is back home thankfully.
All I know is im staying away..5 -

Sherryann - I left WW 4 or 5 years ago when they changed their website, I didn't have good access to their community anymore and logging was a pain. I liked being able to log food - the MFP food diary here is similar, and it's free.
Some of us log, some of us don't. I log sporadically to double check how much fiber and protein I take in and I'm not that concerned with calories.
Welcome and good luck!

Just heard from DD. My husband is being sent to a facility similar to the last one where he stayed last summer. It is an unknown location to me, but DD seems to know where it is. I have no way to get there unless she is able to take me. She has many other responsibilities to her workplace, and not a lot of time to take me to see him. I am sad because I am unlikely to see him for who knows how long.
I’m sure my daughter will try to take me to see him when she can but she is very busy with a challenging career and her own family.
This is so hard to be separated, again.

Katla what a hard time for you but glad your husband will get good care.2

Worked, went to Sam’s, bought gas, then Aldi then in the pool. Then assembled the apple pie for Friday. I probably should have used more apples. As it is, I think I used something like 3 lbs. It’s nice out so hopefully I’ll go for my walk.
The guy was here to put in the plant that we were missing. He didn’t replace the border that his guys took out. I know no matter how he put it in, Vince wouldn’t be happy. Now he’s not happy because it wasn’t put in. I’m getting good at turning a deaf ear since I know that he will only be happy if he does it himself.
Tracey – what a beautiful sign. Happy birthday to you and Jonah. Have a question for you. If you get some paint on a part of bisque that you don’t want it on, how do YOU get it off?
Rosemarie – you wouldn’t happen to have lived in the Bay area, would you? I went to college in Boston, Vince went to MIT there and lived in the Bay area along the Charles River. An IP is an InstantPot. Love mine so much that I have two at home and one down at the condo. Vince wants to know why I don’t just leave it out all the time since I use it so much. Oh, I do hope that nurse works out. Sometimes you just have to give it time.
Sherry – welcome. You’ll not only find support for weight loss, but you’ll find support for all other aspects of your life.
Rita – get well fast
Jerry didn’t come to work today. They said that he didn’t come to the door when they went to get him. Well, he could have been in the bathroom….or he could have been sleeping it off. Anyway, at least the garbage cans were emptied last night so I could use one this morning.
Debbie – happy anniversary (early)
katla – (((HUG)))
Got my walk in, worked on the jigsaw puzzle, now to get ready for bed. I’m thinking that I’d like to have something but I put an apple aside and I keep thinking of what barbie says “only eat what you log”. I logged the apple so I had it.
Green Room tomorrow and Steve will be here.

I'm so sorry Katla, that's tough to be separated. Know that he's being cared for, and you will just have to call him daily like before.💖.

So sorry, Katla. But he is likely getting good care there and after 2 heart attacks so close together he will need lots of care.
Did he have a stroke this time too?
Maybe there is a bus or some sort of transport from the assisted living place where you are. Look into it or ask your daughter to look into it.

Katla - sending hugs and angels to you. Hope you and DH are back together soon.
Tracey - happy birthday to you and DGS.
Pip- looks like fun.
I had PT this morning and then a dentist appointment this afternoon for a crown prep. My legs are sore from exercises and my mouth hurts from the dental procedure. Think I will take some Aleve before I go to bed. Tomorrow I need to get some bloodwork done and go to the bank. My son is coming on Friday evening so need to change sheets on the guest room.
Rebecca - enjoy your time with Athena.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA5 -
Machka — You are absolutely correct about DH. He does need care. He has evidently been transferred to a care facility. I hope to be there to see him soon, possibly tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed that he is doing well and hope that I can see him soon.5
