Another weird leftover dinner. Black beans and roasted corn, home made pickled carrots, rice cooked with chicken stock and a ton of garlic, and cold pork loin with sweet thai chili sauce.

Lazy today. 6 ounce sirloin, roasted corn, bussel sprouts and broccoli. Steak was good, veggies were eh. I should have added balsamic or something.

Homemade broccoli soup topped w cheese and hot sauce. This is my second time making it and it turned out pretty good! I didn’t have to cook up some bacon to make it edible lol5 -
Prime ribeye and salad of romaine, campari tomatoes, cucumber, capers, olives & avocado drizzled in olive oil. Everything topped with blue cheese. Trying to recover from vacation with nothing but protein and salads.

Our hotel is in the Pijp, a traditional working class neighbourhood where the small, inexpensive apartments became popular with students and young singles since the 90s. The neighbourhood is now full of bars and eateries that appeal to young people. The sampling platter at the Tibetan/Nepalees cafe near the hotel.

I made curry tonight. Cauliflower and chickpea. I used coconut cream, and it turned out really rich and lovely. Store bought naan because I'm too lazy to make two elements in a meal from scratch

Pan fried the tilapia and asparagus with salt, pepper and garlic, and made a lemon butter sauce for them. Had it with mixed wild rice and a few pickled carrots.

Tonight we went to an upmarket brasserie recommended by a friend of a friend who lives in the neighbourhood of our hotel, and I had the whole seabass cooked cooked in the big green egg (that's a model of outdoor smoker) served with chimchurri and horseradish sauces. Flesh was amazing and smokey but the cooking method did render the skin tough and inedible. Other pictures are of shared starter of house smoked salmon with ravioli and asparagus, shared complimentary sides of veg and fries, great shared dessert of mini lemon meringue pie.

Mediterranean/Middle Eastern "nachos". I cut the pita bread into wedges and tossed in some olive oil and za'atar. Baked until hard and dry. Cooked ground lamb with a mix of cloves, cinnamon, allspice, cumin, coriander, salt, pepper and chili powder. Made a version of an Israel salad with tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, olive oil, lime juice and cilantro as I had leftovers of the last two ingredients. After the pita wedges were done I added some feta to them and broiled for about 90 minutes. Then added the lamb mixture, topped with the Israel salad and some tzatziki. One could replace the lamb with garbanzo beans for a vegetarian version.

Mongolian "beef", made with soy curls. Charred baby bok choy, and broccoli with crispy garlic chili.

Went out with an old friend from uni for Cantonese. The Peking duck is hiding under the kroepoek (=prawn crackers).
