@tmbg1 "thank you" for not leaving this group. You have shown such diligence towards drinking LESS.
As I try to state monthly. We are stronger together.
I will admit since being on this thread for now almost SIX YEARS I have had my set backs as well. It may take me a day or two to get back in here and post about a struggle with having to much.....but I (you,we) got back in to discuss it.
So glad your day/evening yesterday was much better for you. ❤

@Lilylady3k I so appreciated reading your post.
I feel it was probably very good mental therapy for you to write it out. And good on our end to read it and possibly relate to another persons unwelcome influences.
Whether it be alcohol, food or some other activity we do not always want to participate or be a part of.
We got your back girl. ❤4 -
@joans1976 chocolate cures everything! 🤪
Getting called back to the imaging room after a yearly checkup was a huge anxiety for me several times.
Not even close to needing a biopsy. So I can see/hear your concern.
We are all thinking of you at this time.4 -
Finally feeling a bit settled in this new state/town.
Tomorrow I take possession of my new town-house, my moving POD comes Tuesday and I am getting giddy thinking about setting up my new place.
Being able to have time again to be able to post on our thread is another HUGE help. It seems forever (since last April) that I have not posted daily. UGH!!
8 more days in this month
LET'S BRING IT!

Hi : - )
I am Dawn.
I live in SE BC, Canada.
I joined this group in November 2018, and had my very first AF day in many many years then.
My usual goal is 16-20 AF days per month, and have maintained that for a few years until September of this year when I had only 14AF days (couldn't resist the daily Margaritas in Mexico I guess).
I do this diary style.
Saturday October 22 - Drinks. I had Apricot Brandy mixed with Espresso Bailey's on my front porch with the little space heater beside me and the rain coming down. I used to have that on chilly days with my bestie that moved away this year. It is not something that I drink in the summer. Planned AF Sunday, and all but one weekday this coming week. Planning to reach my 16 this week.
Rolling total: 13AF days out of 22 days.3 -
Good day to everyone
2 beer yesterday afternoon, only excuse was DH and I were bored, it was cold, raining outside and we wanted to get outside the house.
The stress of the selling the shop, with our unwanted guests, DH parents, my mom. Wow can I use excuses or what?????
Today my mind is pretty made up to stop this nonsense for the rest of the month. I can do that.
@MissMay and anyone else who may know........we are considering eastern KY for retirement. Does anyone have any insight into the climate, livability, landscape outside of the Lexington area? I thought you may have driven that direction but I am sure you kept to mostly the coast.......I do need to send you some pictures of my latest paintings
ok off for now to find something to do on a Sunday afternoon that does not involve a beer and nap.4 -

So glad you’re still with us! This is exactly where you want to be because at one time or another, we have all gone off the rails. Don’t be embarrassed. We totally get it.

@Miss May I’m so excited for you! Good luck with the closing. You’ll be so happy to get all settled in.
I did well this weekend- 2 drinks Friday and Saturday (which is the day I was worried about), and only one glass of wine when we went out to dinner tonight. I don’t want any more, though I did have a sip of my husband’s Manhattan. Overall I got a lot done this weekend, my house is all clean, and I feel good going into the upcoming week!6 -

@joans1976 I understand this and I went though a lot of the same not very long ago. I wish you a positive outcome. Body is an amazing strong machine. It can undo and reverse a lot of the punches it takes.
Reminder to me and everyone to be super kind and respectful to ourselves. Take care of #1 first before you take care of others.

Maybe a sober October?

I really considered having drinks (plural) last night. I felt like I needed something to take my mind off the biopsy coming up. However, my anxiety has been so high lately I was afraid the alcohol might make my anxiety worse and then I would be stuck. I had chocolate instead 😎

@globalhiker Thank you!
Thank you everyone for your kind words! They mean a lot. I’m glad I have this group to come to and to hold me accountable with my drinking. Otherwise I might be drinking my worries away and that just leads to more worry.7 -
TODAY
Do something you have NEVER done before. No matter it's significance. Tomorrow, tell all of us what that one new experience was.

Sunday October 23 - AF - Got so much done in the yard. The last pepper/onion garden is harvested, composted, covered. Potato garden is covered as well as other "beds". Carrots and Beets are still in, but I won't have time until the weekend to even think about that yet. Finding something that I have never done before during my busy work week starting this morning will be challenging for me, I will look for opportunities though : - )

Happy Diwali for anyone who is celebrating.
Light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance.

Had a delicious glass of wine with dinner. Lots of yummy carbs today, so I need to rein it in for tomorrow.
Hmmmm, what have I never done before? So far today nothing, will have to try this tomorrow.4 -
I’m definitely trying to drink less. I’ve been alcohol free for weeks or months at a time and right now I drink once or twice a week. My issue is not stopping! I will drink the whole bottle of wine. I justify it with lower alcohol organic wine choices which definitely helps me as I don’t get a hangover that way — but I’d love to cut back, which for me probably means abstinence.7

@dawnbgethealthy, interesting you mention Diwali as it is a time to inspire change and awakening (I need this). While I don't celebrate it, I do appreciate the goodness it brings.
I love what @MissMay said, yes, we need to continue to chase our dreams (translation: quit thinking & take action).

@MissMay - My sister stopped by last night right before dinner ... I did not invite her to stay and DH & I did not open a bottle of wine.
Good luck with unpacking your POD and settling into your new digs.4 -

Gold star and pat on the back @Lilylady3k for eluding your Sister's need for drinking buddies. Little does she realize how you are helping her.
I love your watercolor leaf...it is beautiful. Hope you can keep painting.
And yes thank you, moving POD came bright and early and there are only 5 more items to move out of it into the town~house. The POD'S moving system is incredible. Our entire experience from start to finish has been wonderful. Highly recommend this way for moving.

Hello everyone, let me start out saying
@Lilylady3k I started with watercolors and if that is your first, you are an amazing artist!
Now on the selling of the business building and our unwanted new neighbors. The situation is getting so much worse. We call 311, we call the non emergency police number, and file reports online. Now they have not only camped with broken down RV's and cars they have strung tarps from them, past the easement across the sidewalk to attach to our trees. They are now burning stuff in a 55 gal drum on our property. We have a building full of chemicals (clearly marked on outside of the building) that will go boom with just fumes. Inside all the lighting has to be explosion proof. So the fire department is called they put out the fire and as they drive away they relight. When the fire department is on the phone they best they can do is report it to 311-envirmental services. I guess the homeless have special privileges. We have contacted via phone, online reporting and emailed officials.
I need more suggestions please.
So if everything blows up for 1/2 a city block where do you think they will point the finger?
Does this shoot my anxiety up?
So sorry to drop this in everyones lap, I am just desperate for a solution before there really is a death or serious injury. Did I mention I can not WAIT WAIT WAIT to leave this state.3 -
@lmlmrn - Yes first attempt at watercolor ... great instruction. My 2nd attempt which was a raven I'm not proud of at all. What a purple black blob that turned out to be!
The situation at your business with this homeless folks is absolutely crazy!!! I too would be pulling out my hair. Good luck in reasoning with the unreasonable.
