Monday - back to work again. Trying to figure out where I left off!
Wounds still under wraps. I've got 7 stitches in total and didn't want to catch on things or scare anyone.
Walked today, and climbed 5 flights of 20 stairs/flight.
In the evening, walked Rhody, ordered groceries, and dealt with emails.
Unfortunately, I'm sleeping a bit restlessly these days. I have a biopsy on either side and one on my nose, so I can't sleep in my favourite position ... on my side, but rolled over almost on my stomach. I'm having to sleep mostly on my back!!
AND I can't wear my sleep masks. My poor eyes are gravelly each morning.
Hopefully after I get the stitches out, I'll be able to wear one of my softer sleep masks. And will be able to turn onto my sides.

Good morning ladies!
Machka hope your stitches heal fast and you can sleep better!
Barbara glad you made it home okay! I am a weather wimp.
Katla hope you have lots of quality time with DH. The bus is tomorrow right? It will be an adventure. Do you have a backup plan, like a phone to call a taxi, if things go wrong?
Time to get serious about my calories today. I need to toss the leftover pretzels. I had cake, that's enough. And get back to my video workouts.

I am looking forward to visit from a good friend today. We taught together for several years. She moved to New York quite awhile ago, but is visiting her son in Illinois. I am very happy to see her today. 😊 ❤️ ⭐️3

No more weather adventures except for a brief power outage yesterday afternoon. It is drizzling this morning so Bessie will need her coat for the after breakfast walk.
Katla, enjoy your time with your friend

Machka- if you use the bluetooth and listen to music or nature sounds yes.. its better as a eye mask and bluetooth headphones..
The guy from the garage dropped me off at Tracys..Miles didn't get the memo on daylight savings time so he was up at 4 am
So as soon as mom left I read him a book and without a whimper passed out cold..
He is 10 months old today and we are here with the front door open cant even believe it..3 -

I actually have the musicozy mask Machka! LOVE IT! Don't use it all the time. Mostly for travel, but it works GREAT for keeping "others" away from me and I love that it has just a little nose cushion to add darkness in that space where it curves. So it doesn't pinch your nose, but there's no light peeking in. And it synced really easy with my phone.
Barbara, glad you're home safe.
Grateful for...

Ooouuufff! Knackered!
Walked our legs off in Barcelona. Four hours actually walking. I wanted to see the Gaudi house called Casa Mila, or the 'Pedrera', as it was closed last time I visited. Long walk from the Colon statue. We went via the Ramblas, the cathedral, and some main smart streets in the Eixample, from the 19th century.
This is it.
The rooftop is the most famous bit.
You can see the Sagrada Familia in the distance.
I loved some of the other architecture.
Soooo much walking!
Got the shuttle bus back and we both dozed off. DH now making tea.
Wonderful, warm, sunny weather.
Tonight is Flamenco, and tomorrow we are going to be in France, in the port of Sète. Hoping for a seafood lunch after a quick coach tour of the lagoon. Must wash my hair again.
Love to all. Glad Barbara is safe from the storm.
Heather, about to leave Barcelona xxxxxx

Barbara We have two vehicles but one is in Minnesota. We didn't want to buy a third. We left it in Minnesota because we need two vehicles there. I can't see driving two vehicles back and forth from Arizona to Minnesota. I had to get up at 6:30 this morning to leave by 6:45 to drop my husband off at work. I hated that! I usually don't get up until 8:00 or 8:30. I took an hour to do that. Right now I feel like I never want to do that again!! I think the best idea would be that if my husband really wants to work some of his retired life that he should do it in Minnesota then because we definitely need two vehicles there. He'll just have to find other ways to keep himself busy next year in Arizona. Or he can find a new wife 😜

HEATHER ~ What wonderful sights you are seeing! That rooftop is scary!
MARY ~ I am sorry about your car situation. Could y'all possibly lease a car for the time you are in Arizona or rent one?

Did my yoga and marching videos. Yay! First time in awhile. It was more of a challenge than it used to be.
And I tossed the open pretzels from the party. I need to toss the iced tea and ginger ale too. I need to be very very good so I can eat lots at Thanksgiving.

Heather-I am really enjoying the photos. It is making me want to take a trip to Europe soon.
I also love Europe's pedestrian only zones. I think they should have more of those in the U.S., especially since so many cities are revitalizing their downtown areas to be more people-friendly. Cars really don't need to be in those areas.
We are off on another journey soon, but I am not sure how much internet access we will have. We are branching out into more remote areas of the world these days.
Katla-I hope you enjoy your time with your friend and get to see your husband soon.
Machka-I hope you are mended soon and get some sleep! I have a Musicozy headband that is very light weight with the bluetooth headphones in it. I have put on white noise and it worked very well for blocking out noises. I think I'll get the most use on overnight flights.
Annie-Way to go, tossing out the food. I do the same, but it hurts to waste it sometimes.
SueBDew in TX-Just reading the first paragraph of your last post made me exhausted. I think I need more recovery time from my last trip to visit family.
Barbara-So glad you made it home safely! I think I'd just stay in till it passed.
We are also off to Phoenix soon to see a concert and meet with my family members. I'm trying to think of food I can make that will feed a lot of people, but is easy to make and transport in a car. Ideas?

My pants are tight. I feel the need to fast and at the same time console myself with food. I ought to eat a salad this afternoon, we shall see if I can do that or not.
Annie in Delaware4 -
Tina I would make street tacos if you have a place to heat the meat. Or Tacos in a bag. You can prep everything in advance. We do this for get togethers and have been requested to continue at family events. Another thing that people like are mini club sandwiches you can bring all the ingredients and they can make their own. Meat and cheese trays, and other fixings can be prepared in advance. Then individual bags of chips and cookies for dessert.
You'll be right by my condo when you are in Phoenix! You're probably going to the event center that we ride our bikes past occasionally!

We could do that however I think that would defeat the purpose of my husband even going to work. We just made out our budget for the year and we definitely don't need to work to make money. But, I'm sure my husband would think he's wasting money if he spent it on leasing a vehicle. He has mentioned buying a used vehicle but then again why work? I have an electric bike so I have transportation to get me around this area. However if I went to work and left my bike locked outside, my electric bike would probably not be mine for very long..🥺 I think my husband liked the role of hunter-gatherer and does not want to give up and settle for Beach bum! 🏖️

Pip--New bettie looks great and those are very lucky fur basbies.
KJ--Sounds like a great visit and moving closer. Happy Face!
Ginny--Hope DB does well with home therapy.
Beth--It has been a long time since I have seen a bed made like that , with pillows tucked in. Not sure why or when I stopped doing it that way. Memories.
Heather--Loving the pictures and Thanks so much for sharing your trip with us.
We have been looking for a different car as need something with a third row seat as when we take all the kids to church we have to make 2 trips. Well this last Saturday we drive by the place we usually but from and they had a new one of the KIA telluride, so we stopped to look and well we pick it up today after work. They gave us a great trade in for the KIA we have as is only 2 years old and been kept up. So am kind of excited about that.

After losing weight last year...it's creeping back up. Pants are uncomfortably tight. Time to get serious. I just signed up for a 5K Turkey Trot that will be held on Thanksgiving morning. My first one ever at age 65!! It's madness!
I'm so happy to have found this group! And happy to see several of you from Washington!

SueBDew: Lisa- you are right about things changing in the military. When we were being transferred from England, we had orders for San Antonio. The movers were on their way when my husband called and said don’t let them touch anything. We are going to Sacramento. Got to be flexible.
Woke up with energy and pain free. I am genuinely grateful. It didn't stay that way, but all the days can't be good. While I still had energy, I went down to Casey's and used my winnings from the last lottery draw ($4 - woot!) and a little more cash to buy tickets. It's standing at $1.9 billion. I'm well aware of the odds, but it's worth a few dollars to dream a little dream... and we certainly won't win if I don't buy tickets...
Heather - Keep 'em coming! Love Gaudi--a casino in Las Vegas built a Gaudi Bar, and there wasn't a straight line in the place! He was unique...
Catching up on my Gratitudes, and a before and after pic:
1. Smell - I am grateful for the smell of baking bread in my own kitchen.
2. Technology - While I have my doubts about it sometimes overall, the internet fills my life corners in ways I could never have predicted, like y'all's friendship and support, and I'm grateful.
3. Color - I am grateful for all the jewel colors, the ruby reds, sapphire blues, emerald greens, the saturated, satisfying colors.
4. Food - I am grateful for the foods that feed my soul as well as my stomach--the comfort foods of home and Mama - beans, cornbread, southern and TexMex cooking.
5. Sound - My husband's snores. Means I don't have to check to see if he's breathing...
6. Nature - Watching the deer munch their way across the tree line. They're so beautiful...
7. Memory - The first picture below was taken right after I lost all the weight from the surgery, with my best friend. We've held each other up through two marriages each, five kids all told, half a dozen grandkids, technical school (which is where we met) military retirements. When the pandemic began, we began to talk every weekday. It just felt like it was necessary. We still haven't stopped! The picture was taken while we were hiking in Glacier Park - the first time I was able to hike. She lived outside the western gate for nearly 25 years, and just recently moved closer to her mother-in-law. Her mother had gastric bypass, and it was Barb's urging that helped me make up my mind. The picture below it is my "before" picture, taken at her house almost exactly two years prior.
Later, y'all,
Love,

Barbara ... so glad you made it home safe! I don't like bad weather driving either.
Tomorrow we get our long-awaited roof ... it kept getting pushed back due to weather and finally it is our turn. The weather is unseasonably nice near Buffalo. We had worried about the roof job getting done in bad weather, but it appears that at least the weather will be good. Not so sure what they're going to find under the old shingles ...
Gratitude #7 Memory ... I've been missing the people I've lost in the past 20 months. Many of the memories surrounding their passings are not good and focusing on the lives they led instead of the circumstances surrounding their deaths has been a challenge. But my Dad gave me something the week before he passed ... a twinkle in his eye and a soft smile as I bent down to give him what would be my last kiss. He was in such a good mood and being quite the imp ...so much like the daddy I remembered from younger years. I'll cherish that forever.

Life is good touring Maui with a good friend. Yesterday we walked through large lavendar farm then hiked a couple trails in Haleakala National Park. Th
My last time here I had a hard time walking in the altitude. Now, it's much easier. We stayed and 'caught' the sunset.
Today we did a half day snorkeling tour. My friend was out of her comfort zone, but actually enjoyed it very much. Now we need to rest a bit before the next adventure.

Today was exceptional. I was able to have lunch with a very good friend. Afterwards a larger number of longtime friends joined the conversation. Thanks for the internet. It was wonderful! We have all been friends for a long time. I am happy!9

Mary - apparently we are in for a bad winter here. Thank you I’ll have to look for that tens.
What about an old beater for him to use to drive back and forth to work. It doesn’t need to be a fancy car. We bought my husband a car for $1000 and it’s saved us a lot of headaches.
Heather - love your photos
Michele - I’ve had enough too, but unfortunately it’s just the beginning.
Barbie - I wouldn’t mind wood as a secondary source of heat. It was our main source growing up and it was a terrible stove. There was a oil furnace, but it was very rare it had oil. There was no insulation in our house either. You would think I was talking about the 30’s, 40’s but when I left home in 86 it was still that way.
Rebecca - 😅 the funeral director had this in his home, not at the funeral home. That gave me a very funny visual though.
I haven’t heard of that, but some of what they do with Lego is astounding.
Pip - great picture of you and Kirby.
Beth - it’s hard to even find bedding like that anymore. I have looked for it and haven’t been able to find it.
Barbara - what a harrowing drive. So happy you made it home safe.
Tina - my go to for an easy meal to feed lots is always lasagna or meatballs. Lasagna is better for travelling. I would also cheat and buy the aluminum pan that can just be thrown afterwards.
Beth - I took me a very long time and I still struggle at times to remember the good about my Dad and not his last few sickly weeks. He will be gone 10 years in December. So hard to believe and so hard to get some of those images out of my head.
I had a very busy day yesterday met my youngest and two of her friends for a couple craft markets, late lunch/early supper then a Walmart shop. It was a long day. I didn’t get home until 8pm and I’m beat today.
I need to stop typing and get at a stocking.
