I remember when my father purchased this brand-new kitchen device called a "microwave" and the way my mother HATED the thing.3

I remember going on holidays to my grandparents holiday house at Lake Conjola. The whole family.. mum, dad, sister, brother, nana, pa, uncle, aunt, 4 cousins and great Aunt and uncle. It was awesome, nana would walk us all down to the little corner shop for an ice cream most evenings. There was usually a small fair on at the same time that we went each year. We'd swim on the lake side.. our faces covered in zinc cream and Nana would buy us the ugliest straw hats to wear at the beach.. man I hated those 😂
It was there I got my very first whistle at 13..( I was well developed for 13😬) I was so embarrassed because my nana was walking with me.. she teased me mercilessly. 😂4 -
I remember the stormy night that my son, his friend and I went out to the farm to check on a mare that was pregnant.
She had given birth but the foal had slipped through the smooth wire and was outside the pen.
Poor mama was frantic.
My son and I picked “Windy” up and lifted her back into the pen where she immediately started nursing.
27yrs later….. she is our oldest horse, Windy. She has always been my favorite. ❤️7 -
Today I once again remember my dad. Papa would have celebrated 104 birthdays today. And someone posted about family trips (thanks) which reminded me of back in 1954 my dad was on a search for land to farm. Every weekend he would pile us into his DeSoto and off we'd go; living in the car for the whole 2 days as he drove all over neighboring states to check the area and see the farm land. Somehow, we eventually ended up in Western New York.4

I remember when I wasn’t one of the oldest people on Chit Chat.

I remember my daughter's kindergarten Christmas play. Her grandparents couldn't make it, so I recorded the entire show for them. Every time I zoomed in on her little face she had a giant sour puss plastered across it.
When she came home from school that day she wasn't very happy with me. Turns out she was upset because I was the only parent not clapping.
My darling little girl, mommy can't clap when she's holding a camera.
Funny thing...I still feel bad about it.6 -
I remember the time I visited the high school I went to for grades 10-12. It was so different than the one I went to for 9th. That school was huge. Had daily fights, sometimes multiple. To walk into a school taught by mostly hippies who we called by their first name, no school bells, couches in some classes, kids sitting in the hall during a free hour playing guitar or cards or napping, eclectic mix of kids who got along or tolerated each other well, zero violence tolerance policy,….it was surreal. And an amazing 3 years. It’s left a lasting impression.

I remember this date in 2012. My sister called me just as my niece was pulling up in front of my house. Our brother had died. RIP my darling little brother.6

Teaching my MIL to crochet at her chemo appts. Rubbing her cracked feet with homemade balm as she lay dying. Taking turns swabbing her dry mouth. Charting the meds we gave to ease her suffering. We all sitting round her bed chatting and suddenly noticing the change in her breathing. She died on New Year’s Day 2000. She never got to meet my children. I think she would have adored them. They are so much like her. I think she would be proud of the life we’ve made.7

Thanks. She was a strong, opinionated, classy, creative, interesting person. I wish I had had her for longer.

I remember believing in
Santa Claus.
I remember the excitement I felt on Christmas Eve, telling my dad to be sure to put out the fire in the fireplace! I worried about that.
It was truly magical for those few years as a child.3 -
I remember my I think, 11th grade english teacher. Mmmmm cargo kakis pants. Yep. He always had a smile on his face and a leader attitude. One time as I was drooling over him from the back row his face got all serious as he was reading and I wasn’t used to seeing him serious. .. ..
Moral of the story is merely that I had a huge crush on him.
I wrote an erotic story about him years later that I posted to a public forum. I hope he never came across that bc o m g would I die. Ancient history though at this point.1 -

He was just really cool. Let me do a history report on the Beatles and go through his wallet. I DON'T KNOW WHY HE DID THAT OR WHY I WANTED TO!!

Oh it’s real. And my daughter wrote a paper on it. And I quote: “And on a birthday they put you on a saddle which is very fun.”
I don’t think this mentioned all the animal heads on the walls. Which, during a field trip there, we were told were fake because real ones would be cruel.
