Allie, the course is called Take Your House Back. It may still be on sale. They were running a special. I’m not sure. It’s kind of pricey, but once you join you can renew every year for $10. I got in on the original launch of the course, so got a really good deal. If you think the price is too high, I suggest starting with Dana K White’s book Decluttering at the Speed of Life. She has others. How to Manage Your Home without Losing Your Mind is also good, but she does spend a huge portion of it telling you to just do your dishes. Dana is my favorite of the three. I like that she is not a minimalist and has practical suggestions for decluttering without making a bigger mess. You can really learn a lot just hy reading her blog A Slob Comes Clean without buying anything.4

Thanks for the sweet welcome backs. I did think of something that took a lot of my time and energy in November. My daughter, sil ,two 20 + grandsons and two dogs came to visit the week before Thanksgiving. They helped with a lot of outdoor chores and we loved having them but I am not use to cooking 3 meals a day. It took me two weeks to get my energy back, what’s left of it after Covid. Did I ever tell you all that my hair fell out after the second Covid shot. Completely bald on top. Too many antibodies. Got a wig and went to a dermatologist for treatment. It came back in very curly and a completely different texture. Now it is straight and not very thick. I am grateful for what I have left.
M - you were close on the age range, I am the oldest at 83! Maybe that is why I get so far behind. Lol
I love reading all your posts and agree with Lanette that there has been a lot of wisdom, advice, support and love shown by this group of friends. ❤️

Welcome. When I started here I sorted out all the things I thought were important in my life and noted which of them seemed to be at odds with each other so I could figure out what was most important. I cannot simultaneously say that healthy eating and exercise are most important while filling my day my day with baking sweet treats and sitting on the couch knitting and watching tv. It takes time to sort these things out. I hope you will keep coming back.

My three minutes turned into five and then almost ten... it was so relaxing. But then Mom was really into transcendental meditation when we were kids and taught us all how to do it. I've missed that. We were all able to slow our heartbeats WAY down. I've used that so many times in the last several years in all sorts of meaninful ways! LOL Think I need to add this to my daily prayers every morning again.

My heart just cries for Destiny. She seems like a strong person, even through all the difficult times. Only God knows why a child has to get cancer. We can only pray and hope for the least amount of discomfort.

I loved this article. My feeling about holiday preparations is that you should do only those things that bring you joy. There are things that were joyful for me for many years and when I stopped enjoying doing them, I stopped doing them. Now I do almost nothing related to holidays except watch an occasional movie or listen to a book or song.

Yesterday I had a two hour eating window. My taco salad was so great, I even bumped up the meat by putting b some garbanzo beans in it, and more diced tomatoes. I have foil bundles that I use to keep taco shells open in the oven, so I just used those nestled in a round cake pan, then put my large tortilla in that. It forms the folds just like the restaurant taco salad bowls. I spray the edges with olive oil Pam spray. Meat first, then cheese, then the veggies. I used to put the lettuce in first and pile on the meat. It just makes your lettuce slimy.
Today is a turkey, tomato, cucumber, spinach, cheese sandwich, with baked low fat barbecue chips. Then cottage cheese with tomatoes, cucumbers with pickled beets and asparagus spears on the side.
My sweet thing is my bowl of 3 little squares of dark chocolate, 2 prunes, and 2 Applets with coffee.
My middle sister still isn't walking. Its been years since she has had a shower from the upstairs main bathroom. And now I hear that they ran out of oil again. Ever winter they do this. Its really their fault to not prepare. Check the oil levels now and then. We have never let our propane run out, we fill it when it shows 20% left. Its little things I hear from her that shows me that her kids don't really help save for the winters oil either. Weekend trips to a fairly pricey water park, $5000 refrigerator, stuff like that. And now they sit until Friday to get oil so they have heat. It just seems so unbalanced. Maybe the next time I text my sister I should mention that if they don't get their financial issues in order, I will call the elder abuse hotline. They are living in a house they can't afford anymore.

Lanette, I apologize for forgetting your name! I am terrible with names and will need to use your idea of making a list of names and where people are from. It may help me remember who’s who on here! I remember Heather because she is from the UK and I read her books, Allie because I met her when I lived in CT, Machka because she is from Tasmania/Australia-someplace I’ve always wanted to visit, Katla because of the issues with her DH that I have in my mind always, Barbie because she ‘runs’ this chat. Pip for her boot (lol). Most everybody else I get mixed up. Maybe not so bad but good be much better! I’ve been on here since the beginning so really should be better! Please forgive me everyone. newest update from Destiny's mom: So much to be still going through for someone so young.
Updates; Destiny did break her leg yesterday.. she is in a lot of pain Because they could not stabilize it and the metal is hanging on by a thread in her leg.. so every time she has a spasms it hurts really bad.. She will be headed to surgery in a few hours to take out the rest of her femur and replace it with metal.. they are hoping they can just take of the top part of her metal and replace that part, but if they can’t then she will have to have her leg open all the way to replace her whole metal rod..
the good thing about them taking out her femur . They will be taking out the tumor on her leg as well.. and eventually she will get to walk again..

Talk about gratitude... I've been on this list for over 5 years. During that time I learned about strength training - "Strong Women Stay Young", all versions Fasting from 5:2 to Time restricted and beyond, Resistant starch (remember Rye?), ways to save money on electricity and using clothes hangers to dry laundry, great tips on shoes and walking in all kinds of weather.... I could go on and on.
Had I not run across this group, where would I be in my health journey? Probably still puttering along with WW, counting points. Seems like a different life to what I have now.

When I find a quote or an idea that I love, I take it as my own. I may not have thought of it myself, but I've had the insight and wisdom to recognize that it will serve me well. You went one step further and made a list and shared it with us. Not everyone will find it useful but those of us who do will begin to claim the ideas as our own and make use of them.

We were in bed before midnight, then the neighbors started shooting firworks about 1130 until after midnight. Which woke us all up.

Hi everyone and Happy New Year!
I’m new and wanted to introduce myself. I am starting this journey to a better me. I have started to use MFP again and I started at the gym today. It’s going to be a long journey but I’m not in a rush. If I can just do one day at a time, I’ll reach my goal at some point. I can definitely use all the encouragement you can throw my way and I’m happy to send some back your way as well.
It’s time for a fresh start, new habits, and a commitment to change. We can do this journey one step at a time!

Happy new year to all-
I had an interesting New Year’s Eve and day. My sister called to invite us over to her home for drinks and just hang out for New Year’s Eve. Kirby wasn’t keen on going cuz of being out on the road and the dogs. Kirby was okay with me going but wanted me to spend the night and not drive back. This way we could talk about the family drama, get drunk and not drive home. My sister was kinda emotional because of what she recently learned about me and mom. A few days ago she called me wanting to ask me about something. She said one of our nieces told her son that when her mom (my oldest brothers wife) was pregnant with her that she saw my mom dunking my head in a barrel, tub or bin of corn. I was surprised. I told her that I wouldn’t have put it passed our mother but I didn’t remember that. I could have blocked it out of my memory because it was too painful but I didn’t know. I remembered other stuff like her hitting me with the back end of a shovel and hitting me when no one was around but I didn’t remember that. That really shook my sister up, she couldn’t believe how she could do that to her child. I may have been a teenager by then, not sure.
Well, the next morning we went to moms to have breakfast. Our oldest brother had not seen , called or talked to our mom for 5 years. Well he finally went there and our brother and sister went over there to confront him as to why hadn’t he been around, he lives probably 1/2 mile from her. I wish I could have been there for that but I wasn’t. Well New Year’s Day they were going to confront mom about that visit and we all jumped on her. I ended up leaving after breakfast and my sister confronted her about the incident with me that I didn’t remember, well of course mom copped out and conveniently didn’t remember doing that.

Kylia-you are telling truth about the darkness! Sunset is slowly occurring later. I did notice a difference in Arizona from here. I pay attention to when it is "dark" more than just sunset for my walks (I guess I am referring to dusk but I'm sure twilight is in there somewhere)-anyway-I can usually have some helpful light for around 20-30 minutes after the sunset time. In Arizona-it gets dark much quicker.
Beth-so glad you had a good day. I have found that while grief may be ever present, it does not have to dominate or be the only thing we can feel.

Pip-So sorry you had that sort of New Years. All I know is that most every family has some dysfunctional issues. We can't go back and change the past. I don't know why some parents do what they do to kids-but I believe mental illness is at the root of it. All we can do its try not to engage similar behaviors as we get older and not pass it on.

I think my word (or phrase) for 2023 is "Let it go." As I move on to my next chapter, I need to let go of parts of current identity, possessions and routines. Of course, I will be developing new ones-but I need to let go of much.
I do enjoy reading how others handle goals, lists, etc. I learn something from each approach. It does point out the importance of us doing what is right for us-but doing it.
Health whine:So I am still waiting on one of the new prescriptions for my eye infections. My location didn't get their delivery in today. The other location in town has one bottle of the medicine. I called them to get it transferred to them. It currently is listed as "on hold" (meaning pharmacist is checking it), Don't now if I should run out before they close to see if I can get it or not. It was extremely painful throughout the night last night-never knew an eye infection could cause such pain. I swear it hit a 9 at times. It is not as painful now, so perhaps oral antibiotics are doing something, I have gone ahead and used the other drops waiting for new script. I do believe it is easier if we can just avoid all things medical!
Back to work tomorrow. Haven't been there since December 20. Handled a couple of phone calls and emails that week, then nothing. Yep-retirement will be nice! I do have to stop at dentist on way in and get broken crown looked at. Hoping they can just recement it, but it is what it is. Wednesday I go to Columbus so see Endo who is monitoring bones/calcium. May take a bit of time and drive past a couple of retirement places I am looking at that are nearby-see what kind of vibe I get from neighborhood and outside.
Must get kitchen cleaned up and lunch packed. Then back to relaxing.

DH is in the hospital and is doing ok. With luck, our daughter will take me to see him in the near future.
Rebecca— Your food choices seem just right for you. Cottage cheese is a favorite of mine, especially when there is fruit with it. Blueberries are my favorites. 😊. I also like turkey.

I didnt do a blessed thing today except get dressed for a few hrs and feed the dog and get him outside
I go see the endocrinologist on Wednesday afternoon,tomorrow, back taking care of Miles and Homer and have to run to the UPS store to drop off a coat that didn't woek for the little guy.

Hi everyone and Happy New Year!
I’m new and wanted to introduce myself. I am starting this journey to a better me. I have started to use MFP again and I started at the gym today. It’s going to be a long journey but I’m not in a rush. If I can just do one day at a time, I’ll reach my goal at some point. I can definitely use all the encouragement you can throw my way and I’m happy to send some back your way as well.
It’s time for a fresh start, new habits, and a commitment to change. We can do this journey one step at a time!

I guess I'm one of those rare people who is not negatively affected by the darkness. I didn't like it so much when I had to drive to and from work in the dark, but now I enjoy walking while it's dark. I do stuff in the house during the day and hardly notice whether it's light or dark.
Something that is misunderstood about minimalism is that it is not just about decluttering and getting rid of things. An important component is "intentional living". That means being intentional about buying things so you don't accumulate still more "stuff" that you'll want to get rid of later and being intentional about what you choose to do and doing only what is important and essential.
A good suggestion about all the books about decluttering is get them on audio and listen to them while cleaning, decluttering, or exercising so they don't require extra time that could be spend getting something accomplished.
