1/13: 145.8 - Yesterday was a better day food-wise. I had a snack between lunch and dinner and none after dinner. We will be traveling for an overnight stay this weekend in NC to purchase a car (fingers crossed) and see family. Son #2 will be there too. Yay! I'm resolved to track my food as much as possible this weekend. I usually gain weight over weekends. It would be nice to at least maintain.

GIVE ME 10 DAYS – ROUND 211
Round 211
January 12 - January 21, 2023
On round 210, first round returning, I stated that my first goal is to get back down to last winter’s high weight of 138. In round 210, I move 2.2 lb closer to that goal. As side goal, I would at least like to be under 140 by the end of January

1/12 – 145.0 Totally makes sense. I under ate during the day yesterday (not by choice) and went out to eat. Choices were not good. I also under hydrated yesterday, and can feel retention in my hands. We’ll see what tomorrow brings. I did walk 5 miles yesterday, so that was good. BUT I did use my new Alta’s. My Neuroma is hurting today. So some footware was not a good choice, either the Alta’s on the walk, or my skeechers from museums we visited.
1/13 – 145.8 Two days of not tracking, and this is the result. I did walk 5 miles yesterday. But other than that, my choices were not good.

Day/Weight/Comment
1/12: 120.8 💪🏻⏱️ My treadmill works now!! Whoop! I did a walk+run yesterday and ran faster than I’ve ever run before. That thing is going to get some use, for sure. In the meantime, I signed up for a Peloton bike challenge that requires riding 3x per week. I’m suddenly less enthused for that! Today I have plans for a dog walk and a treadmill run.
1/13: 120.4 💪🏻⏱️ Not bad for the day after I promised my 3-year-old McDonald's for dinner! I got myself a quarter pounder with cheese (sandwich only; rethought after I asked for fries and a Coke with it) and cleaned up the kids' fries from their Happy Meals. Glad I went that route! I am already not fasting today because I made the kids bacon, eggs, and pancakes and could not resist a bacon strip. Healthy days over here!! Ah well. Tonight I'm meeting my husband a couple hours away to see our favorite band and staying in a hotel away from the kids. I'm excited but I'm sure I will overindulge. I'll try to do a Peloton ride during the workday today but I really have to get the house/instructions ready for the overnight sitter! And, yanno, do my job. Happy Friday everyone!

Day/Weight/Comment no food after dinner 💚
1/12 - 176.2
I was really hungry last night, and not just in my head, so I had a banana and broke my streak, but that’s ok once in a while. Friends coming for dinner tonight, but I have my day planned to minimize damage. That should work!
1-13 - 176.6
Friends didn’t make it last night so that dinner is postponed, but we ate pretty much the same things as planned, including key lime pie. It was good, but enough sweets for me for a while, so we may end up tossing the remains of the pie unless DH snarfs it. He’s not much of a snarfer, which is why he’s been thin all his 87 years. (I’m not that old — child bride 😁). Anyway, back on track today and, hopefully, for the rest of the round and beyond. I’m really appalled, though, at how low my calories have to be to lose and maintain. Other than yesterday, I’ve had to go to 1100 or lower to lose. That’s not much food.

Thanks @quiltingjaine for all your hard work to keep this running, hats off to you!
So self- sabotage got the better of me and here I am nearly 2 stone regained, urgh. My body aches from the extra load and my self esteem is in the pits. I'm not going to let this go on any further, I know exactly how to do it, it's easy really... just log everything, get active and stay accountable.

01/11 …..198.6….. ENDING WEIGHT LAST ROUND
01/12 -198.2- (Trend weight 199.3) I Gotta get Very Very serious about my Carbs. I don’t think I mentioned it, but in cardiac rehab on Monday they had to keep me over an extra hour because my EKG numbers were wrong in some way. I became very sick. This is not the first time. So on Wednesday I drove out of town all the way there for rehab again and they decided to check my glucose and it was at 377 and they would not let me participate. I listened to the ranting lecture and I felt like a child in the corner. I really felt like a failure. I cried while driving when I left. I spent every moment after that yesterday tracking my carbs more carefully, not just my calories. It’s difficult because I really can’t increase my fat due to the heart issues. And, of course, I have the eating disorders that cause me not to eat most veggies and all fruits. This is a challenge. I know I can choke down chicken breast but when I overdo a food I begin getting gag reflex so I really have to vary my meals. I’m a mess folks but I am going to use the MFP calorie and carb info to help me prelog and navigate my meals. I see the endocrinologist in Feb. Maybe I can make a big enough difference to avoid the insulin shots but I really don’t know at this point. I know, at this point, none of my meds are working. They call it insulin resistance. Long post, I know, but staying 100% accountable helps me stay on point. I already know that the big overnight party for my brother this weekend will likely be out-of-control with food and drink, but otherwise, I’ve GOT to make a lot of new and uncharted unexplored changes. I’ll take all your hugs and all your support too!
01/13 -195.8- (Trend weight 198.9) Finally home yesterday and able to take all my meds. Whoosh! Back to logging all my food and it’s making a difference too. Everything will be out the window Saturday and Sunday during far travel and my brother’s 60th birthday party. I plan on having lots of fun without going overboard, but no worries, I’ll be back in the saddle on Monday. And I’m really going to make today count too - I’ve already pre-logged my food for the day.

What we need to succeed is a sustainable way of eating, not a DIET we go on and off.
People say keto/LCHF isn’t sustainable. I’ve been doing it for over 5 years with amazing results!
This is NOT A DIET. It’s a LIFESTYLE.

1/12 127.0 Neighbor took us out to Texas Roadhouse because we “took care” of their house for 6 weeks. I ate a salad with blue cheese dressing, 8 oz steak, and 1 dinner roll. That was my OMAD. Should’ve skipped the roll - it es so sweet even without their cinnamon sugar butter! Day 1 of tracking. More than 90 oz of water.
1/13 125.0 That’s what happens when I cut the carbs. Tracked my food, drank about 90 oz of water. And a 40 oz Coke Zero from the C-store. Today is day 2 of serious tracking.3 -
@Machias1949 My husband uses Duo-Neb in his nebulizer. Albuterol and Ipratropium combination premixed. I have inhalers of each.
@deepwoodslady Perhaps ask your doctor about trying Mounjero for your insulin resistance. It’s worked wonders for my daughter. She isn’t diabetic.1 -
@_JeffreyD_ Just wanted to let you know that I’m thinking of you! Sending hugs and prayers and hope you are doing well.3

I’m a 64 year old retired Sp. Ed. Teacher who started these challenges last fall. I love that they are short and manageable. My goal for the year is to drop 10 pounds, be more active and explore a new outdoor location at least once a month. Started this year with a week of exploring the Texas hill country.

1/13 - DNW - We got a new puppy last night. He was found beside the highway on Dec 30th with porcupine needles all in his face. He's off antibiotics, still healing, but good for adoption. We think he was abused and dumped because he cowers to when BF talks stern (training talk, not a good boy/good job talk). He has no issues with me, though. Our other pup, Harley was also abused as a pup so its a hurdle BF already knows how to work through. He's about 6 months old and so sweet. A mutt. Lab mix, we think American pit. Harley is red-nosed pit and sharpei mutt. She's jealous, but it hasn't been 24 hours yet. She hasn't attacked, though, which was a big concern. It'll take time... Anyway, I woke up at 3am and didn't bother weighing, just went to the other room to read and then sleep on couch once tired enough again. Dinner is pre-logged since we're having dinner with Fam at theirs tonight. Only thing I haven't done is my 15 minute workout. Think I'll split it into 2 and do one now (once I post), one later, maybe before dinner. Journaling done. All other goals good (: Hopeful for this weekend to go better than the last.

Previous Day's Comments1/12 - Would you look at that! I managed to maintain this loss and meet my goal for the round on the first day! That's even after eating out last night and having half a personal pizza (with added protein/veggies) and a single cocktail (treated that as dessert). I was mindful of my choices, my calorie allowance/movement, and my goals when making the choice. I only ate back 100 exercise calories out of the 300! I also took my time to allow my body to tell me I'm satiated before continuing. I'd normally eat nearly the whole pizza in the past but now I know better and I'm proud of that progress! Rough night last night so I slept until naturally awake, just a few minutes before my work alarm. (I have a workout alarm an hour earlier than my work alarm). Not sure today's plans but I'll have to figure out how to get some movement/stretching in. I should have a lunch break today to fit in yoga at the very least.

Congrats @Machias1949 on making it to maintenance! Hooray! I'm 10 pounds away, but that's far away for me. I just stay stuck in the mid-to-upper 140s. I'm working on it though, thanks to these 10-day challenges.2

@Pezhed Congrats on getting your treadmill working. I love my Peloton bike and the various Peloton classes. I've even been doing the outdoor run/walk workouts, which are great (love their playlists and coaching). I will look for the same bike challenge. I'll also try to find you on Peloton. THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS: One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.
