Hugs Allie.
The gutter man came and removed tons of mud and cr*p from the side gutter. He also put a bit of mastic on a crack. Charged us about one tenth of the previous guy and was nice with it. I knew the previous guy was a crook, but I didn't want to undermine DH's amour propre by saying too much. I did hint at it, but he can get weird if he thinks I am taking over. I put this guy's card in front of his nose and asked him to ring him. Good decision. DH is mighty happy.
I've started putting the book on KDP. Just filling in the initial form. My blurb is nearly done, but I'm going to sleep on it over the weekend. Just getting to the KDP page is an act of courage for me.

LisaInArkansas wrote: »Allie - It's a really short step from that screaming rage to physical abuse if it hasn't already gotten that far... But the only one who can break that cycle is Tracey, in all honesty. Kyle won't break it by himself. He probably thinks it's just part of his personality and not that big a deal. It is a big deal; it is abuse, and Carmen and Miles deserve protection from that, as does Tracey herself. Tracey needs to find an abused women's shelter and get help for her and the kids. I'm sorry they're going through this, but no one has the right to make their family members live in fear. No one. Period.
Love you, girl,

Unfortunately im stuck between a rock and a hard place,Tracy and I are at a good place in our relationship but what I saw today scares the bejesus out of me ,and i will tell her that next week when he goes back to work..
I will also tell her that I understand now where Carmine is coming from and that I am scared for the kids and her. And will leave it at that..4 -
{{{Allie}}} ... so sorry your daughter and grandchildren are going through this. Praying for you all.
Annie ... my mom is not diagnosed with any kind of dementia but she does forget things regularly. Yesterday, she told me all about a woman at lunch who complimented her on her earrings. Turns out the woman has dementia so she complimented my mother 5 separate times in one sitting. I wonder if my mother realizes she told me the same story twice yesterday during my visit and two times the day before?? My dad warned me before his death that my mom was becoming very confused. We've had moments that are "out there," but for the most part it's been pretty tame.
Day 11: Card. Have sympathy cards to send ...
Day 12: Looking forward to? I hate to jinx what I'm thinking about ... now isn't that stupid? But I'm looking forward to a family member finally moving forward ...
Day 13: I'm headed to Walmart and will give some unsuspecting soul a compliment!
Husband went to the doctor. He's wearing a heart monitor for the next 30 days. Of course, he hasn't had a beat irregularity since and I'm pretty certain he won't have an incident the entire time he wears the monitor. The dog was quite intrigued with the contraption!
I helped out with an Appreciation Breakfast for the men at the church (I used to run this thing when I was working and they asked for my help). I ate outside of my IF window and ate sugar no less. It's talking back to me. I'll have to watch the rest of the day.

Allie, of course it is your decision to make, my dear. My filters are those from an abused childhood, so I know that I'm hyper-aware, and even possibly overreacting to abuse in others' lives. You will make the best decisions you can make as Tracy's mom and the kids' grandma, and that's all any of us can do. You're in my heart, Allie.
Love,
Lisa3 -
Allie Worried for all of you. Tracy may need to have a safe exit strategy if she decides to leave him. There are resources out there to help her when she is ready. You may also have to be part of the plan too so that you are safe too. You are right the children and their safety come first.
Tracy's DH appears to be oblivious to the abuse he is causing. He has the right to be upset but needs to find healthier ways to deal with his anger. It is not healthy for any of you including him.2 -
Honestly I couldn't wait to get out of the house.. even with him behind his bedroom door
Im home with Alfie now but I have the shakes and im sure if it doesn't go away by tonight I'll have to take an adivan.
I hate confrontation and I was abused by neighborhood boys growing up ,but the swearing and yelling and rage like that scared me to death.. even though Tom yelled he never yelled like that.. Kyle was like a man possessed.
I am going to try and have a heart to heart with Carmine and let her know she can blow off steam or talk to me anytime and I wont go back to her parents.5 -

Bravo to you. This is a good plan4 -
Allie ~ Could part of the problem with Kyle be money problems? I remember you saying they got a $500 electric bill. With the cost of a baby and everything else going on, that probably adds a lot to it. Or, has he always been like this? Just a thought! And, as everyone else has said, NO EXCUSE!

Started to order some rain pants to go with my new rain coats I bought. Then I remembered a set my parents had given me years ago(I had never opened them up)- They package was a light blue so thought the pants and jacket were that color and I wanted black pants. Finally opened them up to see if they would even fit. The jacket is the baby blue but, the pants are black!!! Will try them on before going to get Ezie- I will have my warm leggings on under them as they are light weight plastic feel to them. NO WAY those are going on without something under them.
I wish I had opened the package sooner. I would have skipped ordering the second jacket and I would have worn the pants before.
Glad I have them now.
They are large so hope the pants fit me or I will add more elastic to the waist or put a drawstring in them.(very glad my regular pants(leggings or lounge pants is all I wear) are now mediums instead of large.
Not sure if I will walk much today- it is raining pretty good but at least I will stay dry when I have to stand and wait for her to come out of class. Not much shelter from the rain where we have to pick the kids up

Lisa - thanks very much for your info a couple days ago regarding protein. Cottage cheese with taco meat sounds good - I'm going to cook up some burger, add the seasoning and freeze it in 3 to 4 oz. packages. Easy to thaw and add to chili or just about anything.
Kmcintosh1988 - So sorry to hear your energy took a hit after Covid. Have you been back to the doctor for complete labs? My DH had RA for nearly 30 years and he struggled with energy even though the joint damage was in remission. There are lots of articles about "long covid" and some docs have treatments, if that's what you have. Hope you start getting better soon. There's too much to do in retirement!
Debbie - I stopped at Grocery Outlet and picked up a decent looking sockeye salmon fillet. I'll get 4 meals out of it. I just took it out of the oven, and it looks good. Will top my salad with it for supper.
TV's - I unplugged the one in the living room and the one in the bedroom after DH died last May. I get everything I need on my tablet and no commercials - or if they pop up on FB, I can scroll past them or get rid of them.
My health journey I had a "Keto" day yesterday. 37 net carbs. 102 gm protein, 123 gm fat, 23 gm sugar - (mostly from cole slaw mix, greek yogurt). It was interesting. Blood sugar 1 hr after eating lunch was only 110. Astounding.
I've been down the "Eat to Beat Disease" and "Fast like a Girl" rabbit holes. The fasting book is geared toward younger gals still having periods and how to fast during the different phases of their cycles. She does mention post-menopausal women, and I need to read that part again and watch her videos.
But one thing I did pick up was having a Keto day after a fasting day (I'm talking only 12 to 16 hours or more) - to keep the insulin down for a little longer. Breaking the fast with an avocado and that sort of thing. So I figured, why not give it a try? I can do a day now and then. But I love my carbs - beans, fruits, starchy vegetables.
I wouldn't mind losing 5 lbs and keeping my blood sugar and insulin down. Giving up sugar and processed foods hasn't been hard as long as I have some fruit and nuts.

Heather--Looks like you had a lot of fun and your projects look really good.
Kylia--I think it is something with this week. I have had so many stupid stuff this week and I think come on people think. I am so glad it is Friday and I am off the next couple days. Pray next week is better for all of us.
Rebecca--I think this year just feels off and I know I am moody and no real reason. Sorry DYS is not letting you know what is going on. It's hard, we have a daughter that has not talked to us in 3 years. No reason given. HUGS!
I remember growing up we had one TV and 3 channels and once in awhile you could get the education channel. But we had to get up and go to the TV to change the channels and turn it on and off. Also it went off the air at midnight and back on around 6. During that time you just got the target picture. Don't remember when we got color, but thinking I was a teenager. Big thing when I was 14 was getting your own phone in your room, called a teen line. It had it's own number and I thought that made me grown up. Never had a TV in my room. Record player was in the same room as TV and we all used it. I do think I had a radio in my room and listen to the weekly Top 30 count down. Was only a AM.
Allie--How scary. I remember growing up with my dad and his temper. He got to the point he would hit mom and then us kids. He was always right and it was our fault. I still have problems when someone starts yelling. Prayers for those kids, and you.
Well we went last night and got a bissel stick vacumn and looking forward to trying it out tonight when it is charged up. It's the little things sometimes that makes me smile.
Glad it is Friday and I am off the weekend. Take care ladies.

I used to love babysitting at different places that actually got channel 7 (ABC) because it had all the good shows like Love Boat and Fantasy Island..

Our knob lost its "teeth" so it couldn't change the channels, so we had a set of pliers next to the tv! Good times!

Afternoon ladies
No adivan needed,Karen did a lovely job on my hair as usual.. I picked Carmine up to take with.but he didn't want his haircut.
I think we had a breakthrough though.He and I
I told him that what his dad was unexceptable and that I was so sorry that he has been living with that.. I said but also you have to tread lightly I know you have your dad's temper and you just want to fight back.
But take a deep breath and count to 10( I get the the eye roll) and yea right I just get so angry he says..
I said you need to find an outlet for that..I said maybe try out for track at school ,he said he can run to far or he throws up. Only extra curricular he does is guitar..
He kept saying that I outed him to his parents.I said thats in the past...
I told him day or night im here call or text me..I'll be here..Im hoping he takes it to heart.. and I did get him McDonald's..He was much more talkative..especially that I brought it up ,told him he needed to talk to someone and what he really needs is peers his age that are in the same situation...because the counselors he thinks side with the parents..
Wonder if I check around ,with Youth Services or 211 to see if there is something for him..

Lanette - From one research junkie to another, I seldom go looking for meat in general, but I'm pushing myself right now because meat provides"heme" iron. Our bodies can absorb as much as one-third of the iron they carry. (https://www.activeiron.com/us/blog/heme-iron-supplements/) The iron we get from plant-based sources is only absorbed at a maximum at one-fifth of what the source supplies. It's one of the reasons vegetarians need to eat more volume to make up for the need for iron. It's also an ongoing issue for those who've had a gastric bypass because the duodenum, which absorbs iron, is bypassed in the procedure.
Allie - Keeping those lines open to Carmine are important, and I'm glad you can...
Heather - Loving the new cover, if that's the image. I haven't opened KDP in a long, long time. Pleased you got there.
Debbie - Kim - Thank you for posting--the news here basically tells us California is underwater. I'm really over the Chicken Little of the media. Always glad to see y'all both pop up.
Welcome to everyone who's knew! Step right into the conversational stream anywhere.
I had a really good morning on the physical side of things, the best in a long time. Also, bought my 13 lottery tickets. On Friday the 13th, had to buy 13 lines--it's over $1 billion, you know. I'm always fascinated by the fact that people who would never even think of buying at $999 million can't resist buying that chance for $1 billion. I've decided it's a foible.
I've been leaving and coming back to this for six hours, so it's time to post.
Have a good night y'all,
Love,
Lisa in AR

Allie, I’m glad that Carmine seemed to be receptive to at least hearing what you had to say. I hope Tracey will be also. As others have said, and I know you realize, Kyle is not providing a safe environment for his family. I am sorry that you, and the rest of the family, have to deal with it.

Vicki there was a recall notice on rechargeable Bisel vacuums on the news tonight. Model # 2551, 2551W, annd 25519. I guess they can overheat when charging and catch on fire. I know cordless vacuums are great to use. I hope yours is not one of these models.1

Worked then Jerry needed to go to a store so I took him. “Then the soup kitchen. I then went to this antiques place to see if they would buy the set of china that MIL had but they can’t. Did buy this M&M dispenser that I don’t think Vince has. The man is actually the husband of one of the ladies who works at the soup kitchen. Then went to Walmart since Vince needed bananas, then to Food Lion to get chicken since I don’t like WalMart’s chicken. This afternoon we took Shadow to the vet. Jess should be here later tonight. This afternoon before the vet made a chicken enchilada casserole for Jess to take home.
Debbie – I usually freeze my ham. I was concerned that the salt might do something, but it doesn’t
kylia – thanks for the suggestion.
Vince got a large TV and put the other large one on the screened in porch. Personally, I think it is much too big
Tracey – actually, Vince made that snowman. He put a special light in the wreath so that it would light up.
Allie – OH, Allie, Carmine, and Myles HUG HUG HUG. Sounds like you are making good decision as to talking things out with Carmine. Agree with everyone else
Slept with Shadow last night. In one sense, it’s a bit of a pain because I have to move my CPAP to that room.
Michele NC3 -
Well im going to try and go to sleep ,im hoping I can.. today was a rough one..maybe tonight is the night i have a little bit of baileys on the rocks.6

Heather: I hope you got to the poetry and enjoyed it.
Terri: I hope you enjoyed the art demo
Mariamyer: welcome
Vicki: We purchased a bigger tv 10 years ago and as a family we have enjoyed it. For us it was a good purchase.
Serene Compassion: Welcome
Debbie: I shop every week. I seldom go to a restaurant any more and use to go fairly frequently.
Allie: I am so sorry your family is going through this. It is very stressful.
PALS is in atrial fibrillation which means we need to go to a cardiologist. He will do this in a couple of weeks. We never leave the house and he will go by non emergency medical transport. I hope the doctor can get him regulated on medication quickly because the ambulance rides are expensive.
I am trying to work more on my weight and exercised more this week and watched my calories better.
We have been watching Yellowstone on the large tv and and enjoying this.
Best,
Rosemarie from GA
