Machka,
For some time, I have been meaning to say this:
You are inspiring. Unique. Surprising. Insightful. Smart. Self-assured. Resilient. Resourceful. Skilled. A Role Model. A Survivor. Caretaker Extraordinaire. A Gift.
I find myself wishing for the world’s sake that you had passed on some genes to a biological child…
Very sincerely,
Karen in Virginia

M Sounds like she considered you a threat because you were proving her wrong. Unfortunately her MO was to go on the offensive. There is a saying a good offense is a good defense. In this case she dug her own hole. She should have spent her energy keeping up with technology. KUDOS to you!

Morning ladies
Didn't sleep well last night oh well.. will do some laundry and dishes today.
I'll pass along a lounging Miles watching his program with daddy
This littlw boy cracks
me up...11 -
Welcome newbies and returnees! (((hugs))) to those who need them.
Thank you for the additional BD wishes! Went to dinner last night at one of our local haunts and had a great time!
I'm so sorry, Allie... DANG cancer.
Aren't those little couches the best? All the grands had them and they sat in them the same way that Miles does! hehehe!
I'm thinking the same thing as Rebecca, Katla... Breathe darling. You'll always be Katla to us no matter what your screenname is. We will recognize you. PROMISE.
Wonderful pix, Heather, loud or not... what a treasure.
Tere, I'm so glad you were able to figure things out WITH your husband. How sad for him to have to go through all that pain.
SHAVE THE FLOORS! OMG... I can only imagine, Belinda. That's hilarious! Can't believe they've destroyed a Rhoomba?!? That's a lot of hair. I had no idea Corgis shed that much. Good luck.
26-Think about the upcoming work week. How can you apply
teamwork? Okay... we shall see...
Love and Blessings, Carla, in MN4 -
Thank you for kind words. You’re all wonderful and I appreciate each of you.
Currently I am in DH’s room in the care facility. He is getting very good care. He just got back to his room after breakfast. We’re both lucky to be near by one another.

Allie - Love those pics of Miles on his couch. He looks totally at peace with his world.
Heather - I'm with you on the volume... I struggled with it with the grands here for three days. Did, however watch something I probably would have never watched otherwise - Lyle, Lyle Crocodile, about a singing alligator. Was intrigued by the fact that Javier Bardem was starring in a kid's movie. It was honestly lovely, kept my usually scattered attention throughout. So, a mixed blessing. I've been terribly tempted by Agatha Christie's books lately. I read them all when I was younger, but am old enough now that I don't remember who the murderer is, so I can probably re-read them. Also - if you are enjoying Christie, you might pick up Rex Stout's Nero Wolfe books (there are 33 full-length) and if you haven't already read them, Martha Grimes' Richard Jury series. I absolutely loved both, and might just jump back into those.
Tere - You are a strong woman--my daughter's new husband has PTSD from his tours in Afghanistan, and I'm watching how she deals with that, too. It is a psychological minefield, but I'm glad you both are there for these men who need you so much.
I tussled with getting the dang Keurig Duo to work this morning until I finally threw up my hands and went and found Corey's French press and made him some coffee that way. I'll be popping down to Walmart here shortly to get a new, simpler, less annoying version of a Keurig. I refuse to fight with appliances in the morning. He's feeling somewhat better, I think. Hopefully he'll keep resting and let himself get better.
Later, y'all,

Edie and her girls ' soccer team were mascots for Brighton and Hove Albion Women's team this afternoon. Hope to get an official photo soon. She has been suffering with 'abdominal migrains' recently. Can't help wondering if that's really what it is.
I was asking DDIL for suggestions for Bea's birthday present and she said we were invited to Fatto a Mano for a birthday tea that day. Then she astonished me by inviting us to a Mother's Day lunch on the 19th. Probably at the fish restaurant. That hasn't happened before! ! !
My son is going to research which roller skates for us to buy for Bea's present. The promenade in front of their apartment has a lovely flat area where people skate at the weekend.
I'm going to get DDIL a voucher for a beauty/nail/massage treatment for her birthday this month. She said she didn't want anything, because 'you do so much for us', but that's no reason not to give her a present in my mind. Just got to find a place she likes.
No Bea pick up this Tuesday because her violin lesson has been changed for this week.
I will be pining.

My bike is such a hassle I don't use it. I have to move the car to get it out, then pump up the tires. But who knows, the warm weather is coming.

I bought a very basic stationary bike just for knee therapy. I rode it 5-10 minutes at a time. But, if you can keep up the leg lifts, they are excellent.

Morning Ladies! (Well here anyway )
Just a quick write for now to give anyone who needs it, a chuckle.
The hair has a had another win I thought the vacuum bag had enough room in it. NOPE- It exploded! What a mess. Thank goodness I can use the Shark to help me clean it up.
The pup, Tucker, looked up as I was using my trucker's mouth. Oh my hell, he saw the ceiling fan. It has been going 24/7 since the day we brought him home. Needless to say, I now am having a chorus of his shrieky barking at the intruder on the ceiling. Cortni is having the good sense to just look at him like he is possessed and not join in.
I am on my laptop, in the far bedroom with the door closed. Until he decides it is not going to attack him or he loses his voice (I may get to take a morning nap). The dust bunnies and tumbleweeds will be right there as I left them. I hope, LOL

I completely agree! I know you are stressed and the MFP thing is just one more stressor. As the Italians say “Fugetaboutit” ! (Forget about it) LOL. We know and love you no matter the nickname.

Word of the year: APPRECIATE; today I appreciate my son.#2 Practice fairness today by putting yourself in someone else’s shoes: I did this with a camper who I received complaints about. I put myself in his shoes when speaking with him. He was a very lonely man who only had his dogs (one barking, one loose) and the people he meets at campgrounds. Made me more comp#25. Express gratitude today by thanking someone. Thanked my DH for making coffee.
#3 Watch a movie that reminds you of kindness. I watched the Adam Project.
#4 Take a picture of 3 things that make you happy. Send them to a friend. Done!
#5 Be kind to yourself. Self-compassion is equally important. Will do today.
#6 Start a conversation with someone new. I do this every day with the campers!
#7 Consider a current struggle. Write down 2 thoughts that give you comfort. My dog Brownie’s heart trouble. Her spells are getting worse and there is nothing the vet can do. Comforting thoughts—She lived a good life with us. She brought us many days of comfort and enjoyment with her loving attitude.
#8. Consider and celebrate diversity today. I am a white girl living among darker Mexicans and native Americans. Campers come from around the world and love to hear the accents and learn about the different cultures i come into contact with. Do this every day!
#9. Identify a role model who embodies perseverance. Can you find two ways to emulate them? My 30 year old autistic nephew. He never gives up no matter what health challenge he faces. I can emulate him by not complaining about every little ache and pain, and by doing what needs to be done to get through any health issues that may come up.
#10. Check an item off your to-do list this weekend. Working on my taxes.
#11. Make twice as much for dinner and either invite guests or deliver the meal to a friend. We give food to people all the time. My DH cooks and we give food to different campers and workers here at the park almost every day!
#12. Make a list for the week ahead so you stay focused. Done
#13. Consider a recent disagreement. Did you extend forgiveness? After I bough myself a Sonic blast to ‘cool down’.
#14. Express creativity by making art or cooking a new meal. I write in a journal that has writing prompts I have to make up stories for. Yesterday I wrote a short story about a dog leash!
#15. If you are waiting in line today, let someone get in front of you. May not be today, but i did do it on Sunday!
#16. The next time someone does something you appreciate, be sure to let them know. Will do! Didn’t have the opportunity but will watch for a chance today!
17. Offer a helping hand to someone, such as holding a door for a stranger. I may have a chance today.
#18. Share about a recent book you read and what you learned. I just finished reading ‘Everything You Are’ by Kerry Anne King. It dealt with alcoholism, recovery, death, and grieving. I learned that no matter where you are in life, never give up and find a way to celebrate life.
#19. Show sincere appreciation when someone serves you food or drink. Did this today. DH made me pancakes and served me coffee this morning.
#20. Complement someone today. Ideas include recognizing a great smile or earrings. Did this to a lady who looked angry and tired at Walmart today. Made her happy and smile.
#21. When you recognize someone is struggling, offer words of support. I did that yesterday!
#22. Ask for help. That’s a simple way to express bravery. Sometime today.
#23. Encourage your teammates to utilize their unique strengths. Do this with my co-hosts every day. I thank them and tell them they have done a good job, and really are working too hard.
#24. Reflect on the steps you have taken to achieve your past goals. I looked at past lists to see if I had achieved my goals.
#26. Think about the upcoming work week. How can you apply teamwork? I can apply teamwork by helping out the paid employees and the other volunteers. I also need to put together the agenda for Tuesday night’s Friends Group meeting.
#27. Send or leave a handwritten thank you note to someone.
#28. Giving constructive feedback is one way to ignite honesty.

Belinda LOL! It took my Roomba a whole year after the passing of my Sara to quit filling up the bag every 2 weeks running 6 days a week. She has been gone 2 years now. She was a Great Pyrenees and Golden retriever mix. Mandy was our German Shepard. She has been gone 3 years. I so understand the hair bunnies!!!! They destroyed my Shark vacuum.
Expectations.......I expect coworkers to help pick up slack if I am incapacitated. I expect my coworkers to do the job correctly when I am not there. I expect that my coworkers will get all the information on units and customers. I expect coworkers to care about their jobs and customers. I expect coworkers to take pride in their job. I apparently need to adjust my expectations. I have work to do. I corrected improperly inputted repair orders. Put in information that they didn't put into computer on units both sold and in for repair. Now need to total invoices that they didn't even attempt to do for the two days I was absent. I knew this would happen, yet get frustrated when I come back to have to fix stuffs. This is why vacations can be stressful. Just needed to get that off my mind.
I have washed and changed the bedding, scrubbed DH's bathtub, and caught up with you ladies.
I reckon I need to go help DH with some stuffs, then get some work done.
Love you All!

Tere - thank you for sharing your story re your DH's anger. Wow, it brings back memories. I went through similar with my DH's (also Vietnam Vet) anger and I think it was a combination of PTSD, pain and age. And calming him down with reassurance that I loved him and would care for him settled him down. Picking the right time was part of it too. I think that might work with any guy or person for that matter who is angry - giving them something to hold onto when their world is spinning out of control. Worth a try anyway. Sending you both lots of hugs and good thoughts for his successful knee surgery!
Machka - Good job walking away from that problem employee. I'm surprised she hasn't been terminated for that behavior. Sounds like you're planning a good time off.
We had a windstorm plus snow around here earlier this week. As a result, about 1/3 of the county was without power for a few days until the power company figured out the problem, never heard what the problem was. So I finally got off my duff and downloaded my email and Messenger apps onto my cellphone plus Facebook in case we have an extended outage here and the WiFi goes down. The texting on my little phone is wonky for some reason but now I'm covered with the other apps.
Barbara - that little portable power station is a gem. I can recharge the phone, laptop and tablet with juice to spare. The main thing I wanted it for is to keep communications going plus I tried it out running a little fan, radio, etc. I ordered the little companion solar panel for backup as well, it will be here some time this week - not sure when we'll see sun again, lol. I read that some folks used it during the hurricane to keep their CPAP's going and were able to recharge it with their car batteries.
Katla - it's exciting that your kids will be bringing back some of your favorite things for your new home. And you weren't tasked with a month or more of going through every inch of the house and getting stalled on trips down memory lane. It's a blessing and a curse in a way, but in the long run saved a lot of stress perhaps? Also glad you able to post here! We know who you are no matter what your "handle" says.
Debbie - hope you are feeling better!
Belinda - I also wasn't aware that Corgi's shed that much. Funny that your little guy finally noticed the ceiling fan! Is he new to your home?
Ginny - Happy to hear you are on the road to recovery. I think sunshine is a good healer! So glad you plan to get out and walk and soak in a few rays.
Tina - thank you for sharing the MacKenzie exercises! Years ago the PT's suggested I get a round pillow to put behind my back. It's called a MacKenzie roll and now I see why.
Michele - has Vince ever tried a TENS unit? I got one years ago that I stick on my back. It has adhesive and after a few hours of that thing zinging, my back usually feels a lot better. It's WiFi and all one unit, no wires to mess with. I see Amazon has them again, huge price range.
Rosemarie - thinking of you!! Hope all is going well.
OK, not done but better close for now. Dog wants food and will start bossing me around (barking, lol). She's the alpha, I'm the beta I guess.
Make it a wonderful Sunday

Karen[/b... your friend is an extremely talented photographer ... stunning photo!
Katla ... I'm just glad you're able to access MFP. I don't care what letters have been attached to your name ...
The sun is thing here again today and, surprisingly, there is still ice on the trees. Beautiful. But it also means it's still cold here. Visited the cemetery after church this morning ... two years ago today. We miss him more each day.

Tina hmm. Interesting option, thanks. That bike is affordable, probably about the cost of five Physical therapy co-pays. I'm not sure I have the room for it though. I have had this bad knee for so long it might be time to get more serious about working on it. Would the bike work okay on carpet with cement underneath? It might settle into a dent in the carpet and stabilize that way.

Beth - Many hugs. I wanted to telephone my mother so badly this morning about hummingbirds and feeders and cats, and she's been gone for 24 years. All my heart goes out to you, my dear friend.
Karen - I can't believe I forgot to say this, but that photograph is just striking in so many ways. Absolutely beautiful. I also have my hand raised to vote for everything you said of Machka. My respect and admiration knows no bounds for her... and for you.
Made it to Walmart, but as usual, it was much like a siphon sucking my energy away. Egg rolls are in the airfryer, and I pulled out a couple of servings of cassoulet that I froze weeks ago for tonight's dinner. Comfort food if there ever was. Corey, bless him, is now dealing with additional stomach symptoms, without a whole lot of letup on the respiratory stuff. I try not to bug him too much... he's not a whiner, and won't say a blessed thing if I don't ask a direct question. I really suck at this - one of the many reasons I did not go into the medical field.
Later y'all,
Much love,
