I have been having a rough time the last couple of months, but gave myself a good shake this past weekend! (Jeannie... grieving the loss of a child never ends ...) I've been eating too much, too often and not moving. So cleaned off the exercise equipment in the basement and started ... s l o w l y ... to use the recumbent bike and treadmill. Once I gain some momentum, I'll add back the kettlebell swings. I'll be changing up the menu plan this week as well.
The high winds did come through Saturday night and took down more tree limbs. The yard is a mess, but I've committed to 15 minutes every day and should get the bulk of it cleaned up in no time. I set my watch timer yesterday and was surprised by how much I got done in a short period of time. Several big limbs will need my husband with his chainsaw to break into manageable pieces. We take this kind of debris to the roadside, line it up in a specific way, and the town comes through with a chipper later in the Spring. There's going to be a lot out front.

Heather - Not a clue on the building codes in Hawaii, but it sounds about right from what I saw while her husband was house-hunting. What's funny to me is that I'd have such a hard time with just the proximity of other people. You can't swing a cat in there without hitting someone else's house!
Beth - I'm with you on the price. Makes my palms itch. If you count the warehouse, we're living in the 5th house that Corey and I have purchased together, and if you combine all five prices it's still less than they're spending for the one.

This is a great idea for at home. I do something similar when I eat out. I get sides to go and put half of the meal in a to go container right away. Not sure why I never thought of that for at home. 🤷🏻♀️

I looked recently, there was a time limit after your first deposit to get the insurance. I think it was pretty short. Maybe a week after.
You just might want to look into that.

I always take out the insurance for the cruise from Saga (our cruise company) because it is much cheaper than doing it on your own and they cover more. You want specific cruise insurance. Not something I would ever delay or compromise on. Small print very important.

Hi Gals,
A quick break this morning. I think hiring someone yesterday was such a good deal. I got a break, but while the gal is a delight and totally competent Mom thought she talked to much, and was really glad to have me home. All late afternoon and evening I was treated much better. I did suggest that we have her in again.
Lisa– the house in Hawaii is adorable! It is nice that it is so move in ready. And while yes the homes are close together, it might make it easier to meet and become friends with the neighbors who could be part of a support system for your DD and family. As for the price, I thought it was a good deal! I’m in a smaller house, on a bit bigger piece of property, 40+ years older, with no air conditioning and limited heating system and I could get $900,000-$1,000,000 for mine. It is all relative, to what your experience is.

Thank you Rosemarie. He told me the same thing sober this morning. He had a dream that he thinks was real so said he would stop drinking and wants to sell all his guns. That dream really scared him. I hope this lasts. For now, he is realizing what I’ve been telling him about the dementia is real. I’ll go with that. Prayers patients and reminders (not nagging) really work!

3. Start today by appreciating your body and that you are alive. I am healthy and above ground. I can walk,talk,hear, see, taste, and smell (mostly). I appreciate that I alive and have a healthy body.

5. Bring to mind people you care about and send love to them. I sent texts to my long distance friends to send them love.
6. Have a ‘no plans’ day and notice how that feels. Most days are like that for me. So much less stress!
7. Take three calm breaths at regular intervals during your day. Sounds like a plan.
8. Eat mindfully. Appreciate the taste, texture and smell of your food. Started at breakfast.
9. Take a full breath in and out before you reply to others. I will need to keep this in the front of my mind all day.

11. Stay fully present while drinking your cup of tea or coffee. In the process of doing that right now!
12. Listen deeply to someone and really hear what they are saying. I will have to really try to get this done today.

14. Find ways to enjoy any chores or tasks that you do. I made a necessary task to go for a liver scan enjoyable by buying lunch for myself for a change.
15. Stop. Breathe. Notice. Repeat regularly. I really need to do this today! Didn’t remember to do this.
16. Get really absorbed with an interesting or creative activity. I have stones to paint. Will be distributing along the trails in exchange for free peddle boat and paddle board rentals. Didn’t do this. Too windy out. I colored instead.
17. Look around and spot three thing you find unusual or pleasant. Will do. 1. Lady wanting us to cut a lock off of her propane tank. 2. The rock formations around the park. 3. The lake surface when wind blows over it.
18. If you find yourself rushing, make an effort to slow down. I will consciously try to do this. I completed this!

Here is the lettuce that came up on its own. I planted those seeds last March! We’ve had 2 meals from them so far and by the looks of it, more to come! Love home grown!! (Tee-hee)

I love the view out my windows—there is a lovely old farmhouse with land and two large white barns. I wonder what it will look like in spring and summer. ⭐️ 😊

Here is the lettuce that came up on its own. I planted those seeds last March! We’ve had 2 meals from them so far and by the looks of it, more to come! Love home grown!! (Tee-hee)

Rita - I'm totally jealous, lol. Do you plant in 5 gallon buckets? The seeds staying in suspended animation for a year is wonderful. You never know what nature is going do.

Annie eating....yesterday my eating sucked! My day started with doughnuts 🍩 that were brought as a thank you from the young man we helped in his theft incident. I ate 3! McDonald's for dinner, then peanut butter mix and chocolate 🍫 before bed. I was way over. But today I was more on track. I believe an off day keeps our souks happy and our bodies guessing! Just can't do it too often.

I thought I was the only one that enjoyed the peanut butter w/ chocolate before bed!! Last time I added Nutella to my peanut butter. Most times I just grab a spoon full of plain peanut butter. If I have trouble sleeping, like last night, I grabbed a spoonful. Went to sleep soon after.
I like peanut butter and really like it with chocolate (Reece's Peanut Butter Cups!) but my digestive system doesn't like peanuts or peanuts butter ... or much in the way of peas.)
I go with a spoonful of pure honey before bed sometimes. Real honey can help a person sleep better.

I love peanut butter mixed with honey-actually eat it that way more than with chocolate
many times I just mix up a big spoonful of peanut butter with honey and just eat it- skip the bread.
I rarely do eat bread.
I will have to try the honey before bed(or mix the two and I should really sleep well)

Cold, and windy, but bright blue skies here on Whidbey. Balanced the checkbook (to the penny). I don't know why that gives me such peace of mind, bit it does. I do remember our financial struggles on the OR coast, just having $25 to spend on groceries a week sucked! The rest was supplemented by food banks, so you got what you got. While it was great on beans, pasta, our meat and breads were on the lean side. Breads only lasted a couple days because they were past their dates plus had been frozen and unfrozen a couple times. I was thankful we had use of them though. Pondering it now, it makes me thankful to be where we are now.🤗💖
Had a video chat meeting last night with 3 of the moderators and 3 of the other administrators in our Navy Mom Strong group. It went well. They were all surprised by the sound of my voice. Didn't picture me sounding like that! Lol! My voice is on the high side, and childlike to some. I remember having to practice trying to talk lower, so on the phone I would actually be taken seriously, when I worked at the bank right after high school.

Our pillows arrived a day early, I will use one for the front bedroom as an under pillow. Prefer feathers to sleep on. The other one is a cheap alternative to stuffing.
DH is chatting to his younger daughter on the phone. I'm happy for him. But dinner is ready, We have lamb, lentils, and cabbage curry tonight, with potatoes, for him. With raita. He will have to cope with overdone cabbage. Horror! Though seriously, i love that his younger daughter rings him. .
He left the family when she was around 4 or 5 years old. She has told us how devastating that was for her. She has had trouble establishing a long-term relationship all her life. It's a tribute to him that both daughters still adore him.

Hello ladies!
I'm back on the wagon today! Just this cup of tea, and then exercise. My sciatica is much better from my day of rest. Now I have to keep to the improved posture, and it will be fine.
Rebecca glad you had a good meeting. My voice is low, and never quite sounds as excited and happy as it should.
Rita Yay for lettuce! And Yay for dh acknowledging his symptoms!
Mary I fed a lot of ducks in my childhood. Good memories.
Heather yes that is precious that dh and his daughters still have a relationship.

Jeannie - I do that at restaurants too! I'm glad you think it's helpful, it was one of those epiphanies... For instance, considering eggs, I've always used two eggs to make my omelet, but I'm more than satisfied with just one. I try to look at everything I'm eating with my eyes wide open, because we get so habitual about what we put in our mouths. Portion size was always my bugaboo. What's interesting is that Corey somehow knows exactly how much I can eat, and that's the portion he makes for me when he builds a plate for me at dinner. (Yes, I know I'm a princess, but I never take him for granted.) If I make my plate up, I always overestimate what I can eat.
Kim - So pleased you may have found help--Like Debbie's MIL, I doubt your mama will ever be OK with anyone but you.
Rita - I'm so glad your husband, when sober, still agrees with the need to get rid of the guns.
Barbara AHMOD - I know, right? Now her second husband has moved into the CWSD spot with a vengeance. Regarding time - her husband has about four years left to get to his 20-year retirement date, and Kels has about six. He says he's more than happy to become a stay-at-home dad once he's done, and I believe him. He's a good guy. With that small an amount of time left 'til retirement, they shouldn't get assigned elsewhere.
Chores are done...

Barbara I used my surprise extra hour to write a reply on this thread (something I never seem to get to) , clean some spots on the carpet with the new stuff I got with my grocery order, and read an article in my college alumni magazine. It was a glorious time.
Kim It looks like you're getting a bit of balance on your caregiver duties
I got a call from the dentist's office to tell me that I can get my teeth cleaned today because someone canceled. There's a long story about why I didn't have an appointment until October so I am very pleased.
