05/27-193.8-(Trend Weight 195.0)- I’m a bit shocked at the overnight gain (I wish I could call it an uptick or fluctuation). I did go to dinner last night for the fish fry. However, I only ate half of the dinner, drank water with lemon, skipped breakfast and lunch for an OMAD day. One snack late last night (a hand full of unsalted nuts). Good TMI, medium activity level. Small amount of exercise while babysitting DGS. Cons were: not enough water and not enough sleep last night. That’s a big jump on the scale overnight! Sodium from the dinner? Perhaps. My endocrinologist took me off of my water pill at the recent appointment. He said that it is bad for my kidneys (which is already taxed with diabetes). He said that pill (given by cardiologist) would have been the 5th or 6th defense or choice with a diabetic. He put me on a different blood pressure pill. I finished out my pill holder day before yesterday (which still had water pills in it), so I am now in fear of my ankles getting too swollen but I am glad to see someone noticed that a water pill was not right for me.

05/28-193.6-(Trend Weight 194.9)- I ate dinner too late last night, went back for a 2nd portion, didn’t drink enough water, didn’t move enough and only got 3 hours of sleep last night. I can’t seem to stop my eyes from tearing up/watering from being so tired. Shocked to see a tiny drop on the scale. I was under on calories but over quite a bit on my carbs. Miracles still happened all around us!

29 - 194.8 :s What I expeceted. Had a really nice day, but disasterous on the diet front. The day started out wonderfully, went for our morning walk - planted the rest of the garden, had a simple breakfast and lunch - but then we sat in the front yard had a glass of wine played backgammon with the hubby. We texted my sister and asked if she wanted to come over play cards, have a cook out and they were free. My one glass of wine, turned into three and I overate at the cookout. Didn't drink the water! Logged all my food this morning, and with the walk and gardening was just slightly over my calorie limit. But the SODIUM - wowsie - 2 1/2 times my limit. It's no wonder I woke up in the middle of the night dying of thirst. Another cookout with the dear daughter today - but no booze. I'll be better today, but probably won't get my normal exercise in. Back on the wagon on Tuesday. Holidays a killer - fun by a killer.

@jm216 - I am so sorry to hear about the car/deer accident. Hope you are well.

As we are preparing to head into another month, I was curious as to how many calories you are eating? I know I need to re-vamp something. What do you eat that keeps you feeling full?

@BittersweetVita MFP gives me a starting calorie goal of 1,260. I use all of that plus I try to only use 1/2 of the extra earned calories from exercise. I have been trying to make sure that I get 5 servings of freggies every day - spread them out throughout the day - a fruit with breakfast, another fruit and a veg with lunch and then a couple more veggies at dinner. Sometims the veggies are a double serving of the same. Also try to have a serving with protein with each meal. Lastly - have been trying to get 8 servings of water (this is my toughest challenge). My daughter got me this water pitcher for Mother's day that I keep in the fridge (the water has to be super cold for me to drink); and it has helped.

Hello, I'm Darlene. I'm 62. I Married, and have one kid (28) and one pup (Monty), no grandkids. I have been retired since 2020. My husband was retired, but returned to work in January. I vowed to take this year to lose weight, get healthy, give up some bad habits, exercise, read more, etc. I started a few challenges last month to see which ones I liked, this is one that kept me accountable so I am back! Looking forward to see what May brings!

    Start Weight: 227
    Goal Weight: 160

    January weight Lost: 9 Pounds
    February weight Lost: 5 Pounds
    March weight Lost: 5 Pounds
    April weight Lost: 8 Pounds

    My goals for May:
    Lose 4 Pounds βš–οΈ
Log 50 Fit Bit Miles Per Week πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ
Read 1/2 Hour each Day (at least 5 days/week) πŸ“–
Knit 1/2 Hour each Day (at least 5 days/week) 🧢

    🌻May 🌻

1 - 200.2 - Very close to Onederland - hoping to get there this week! 🀞
    2 - 199.8 - 😁Made it! Now to keep it there!
    3 - 200.0 - :s
    4 - 200.0 :s
    5 - 199.6 - :) Well let's try this again!
    6 - 199.6 :|
    7 - 199 - 😁 Woo Hoo! Don't know how that happend, but I'll take it.
    8 - 199.4 - :s
    9 - 198.6 - 😁
10 - 197.2 - 😁😁 That one deserves a double Woo Hoo! Probably be up tomorrow! LOL
11 - 198.2 - :s Called it! But I still like the May trend. Have a couple of challenging days ahead. My daughter is coming over tomorrow night. We are celebrating her birthday and Mother's day. She is spending then night, and then we all will go to my Mom's to take her out for breakfast for Mother's day. Hoping to make some good choices.
12 - 197.6 :| Thinking that scale was wrong on Wed; but getting back there.
13 - 197.8 :s What I expected. Went out with the family last night for dinner. Didn't really think I overdid it, tried to estimate the calories for MFP, and was under calorie range, but think that it was probably salty. Have breakfast with Mom this morning, then I hope to eat light the rest of the day, and get in my excercise, walk Monty. Hoping it's down tomorrow.
    14 - 196.6 😁
    15 - 196.4 😁
    16 - 196.4 😐
    17 - 196.6 :s
18 - 196.8 :| Although I am up today, I'm giving it a neutral face as I expected it. Was out last night with my sister and her husband. We are on a trivia team and get together every other week for dinner and trivia. We aren't very good, but have a wonderful time. I was mindful of what I ate during the day, and made wise choices. Still stayed within my total calorie range, but I notice that if I use all the calories gain from exercise I tend to go up for a day or two. My normal goal is to use only half of them. I am also giving myself a😁. I organized my walk in closet yesterday. I tried on a few things that I haven't been able to wear for a few years and low and behold some fit.
    19 - 196.8 :s
    20 - 197 :s
    21 - 196.8 :|
    22 - 196.2 😁
    23 - 195 😁
    24 - 195 :|
    25 - 195 :|
    26 - 195.2 :s
    27 - 194.8 😁
    28 - 194.2 😁

A few of you had inquired about the Hogwarts challenge - just an FYI the next one starts June 16th. I just completed my first term and it was really fun; and can honestly say that it was the biggest contributor to my success the last couple of months. If your a Harry Potter fan check it out.
Friday, June 2nd - The application will be posted on the forums.
Term 45 will be a 5-week term themed around the summer and a field trip - a long term visit to tour the Ministry of Magic! The term will run from Friday, June 16th (with full activities beginning on the Monday afterwards) through Sunday, July 23rd. Students will also have a few days into the term to submit their starting weigh-in.

My name is Donna. I am 5’ 5” tall, 63 years old and from the Michigan USA. In 2016 I weighed 253 lbs. I am on a journey of health and to get back to the real me.

My mini-challenge is to lose 6 pounds between My birthday and July 4th. My birthday morning weigh-in (May 10th) was 195.1. I hope to be at 189.1 by the morning of July 4th, 2023.

Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

05/30-194.2-(Trend Weight 194.8)- I felt so bloated yesterday that I could hardly eat at the family BBQ (which explains no gain). Today my bloating has been relieved by TMI. I did not bring home any leftovers so today should be back to plan. I’m going to take a lazy day today. Lots of nothing. I’m just so exhausted lately. I definitely feel better in the 180’s than I do here in this hole I seem to be in.

May reflection - Another winner for me - down 5.4 pounds (my goal is a pound a week). Got into Onederland and kept it there. Like others, I get frustrated when the scale goes up or stays the same during the week, but need to look back and the overall picture. Don't know why the body reacts the way it does - days I expected to be up because of a high sodium day, I lost weight. Days I was way under my calorie limit, I gained. But the end result is what counts. I may end up just weighing weekly someday, so I don't see the daily flucuations, but will continue daily for now. I logged 218.3 miles on my fitbit, the most miles so far. I am at 932 miles to my 2,023 goal; tracker says I will get there on November 24. 😁 I have added strength training (and a little tai chi) to my exercise routine. Fnished planting the garden. I was on track with my knitting goal, but then I finished the sweater I had been working on for eons, and haven't started a new project so stopped. I started out well with the reading - but finished the book and haven't started another. I'll need to work on those and incorporating 6-8 glasses of water daily into my daily routine. Looking forward to seeing what June brings. I love the summer!

These is our container gardens - Corn, peas, cumcumber, tomatoes, peppers, and herbs (parsley, basil, thyme, and rosemary). Also have brussell sprouts and broccolli in containers on the back deck (our neighborly groundhog loved them last year so put them on the deck so he can't get them). And potatoes and carrots not in the picture. The marigolds keep the bugs away.

This is our traditional in the ground garden, potatoes, cantaloupe, watermelon, squash, and more tomatoes.

Well, I barely made it through this month with my sanity intact. These anti-estrogen drugs are NO joke. I *think* I will be taking time off work in June and hope to really cut myself off from my job and refresh.
My goals were to lose 4 or 5 pounds and I lost 4.4 pounds βœ…
    Grateful for that!
My other goal was to walk 3 times a week, I did not achieve that but there’s always next month!
Great month ladies! Everyone worked hard, no matter where you’re at, you’re showing up and you matter!
