Very wet run last night but still good. My glutes or bottom was hurting for the whole run because I had a Thai massage yesterday afternoon. I needed to loosen out my shoulders and neck and she worked on the tightness in my hips too. I feeling very tender today all over and have some bruises coming out but everything feels looser so all good.

I'm enjoying the brunch talk. It's not a thing here in Ireland, all day breakfasts are more likely. In the summer of 1996 I worked in a hotel on Nantucket as a Receptionist and brunch was a huge thing. A 3-4 foot ice-sculpture used to be wheeled in very Sunday morning for it.
@Mari33a hi! Irish fry-ups... Potato bread! 🤤🤤
Gamechanger....
(Don't care much for Baked Beans... Though 'full English' nor any kind lol)2 -
Morning all.
Got in 4.52 @ 08"44
Out tonight. Joint friends' bday party - Pub crawl along the river. 3 pints burnt off upfront lol
Have a nice day all7 -
@quilteryoyo loving the Florida pics! 😊1

It stormed off and on throughout the night and when I woke at 4:00 am today it was pouring rain and there was lightening in the distant sky. I met a friend at 5:00 am for a run and it had stopped storming and raining. It was 72F and so humid. We got about 2.5 miles into the run and it started raining but it felt wonderful. It lasted about half a mile. It started again around mile 7 and I could wring the water out of my shorts by the time I finished. Still felt wonderfully refreshing!

It totally depends on the chime for me. I don’t usually like the metal kind of high pitched tinkly ones. I like a more substantial wind chime. The larger bamboo ones sound really nice. I also love a good leaf rustling noise.
@Scott6255 Noted! Head on a swivel! I am carrying an umbrella for portable shade that would also double nicely as a hand swatter.

The wind blew the mega hot out last night and I woke to more pleasant low 70’s today. Got what is probably my last run for Rome in. We have early mornings the next few days.
Yesterday we went to Castel sant’Angelo yesterday. It winds up a few levels through some very cool exhibits. At the top is an observation deck with great views of the city. After all the walking in the heat, we were beat. We got back to the hotel, showered, and couldn’t bring ourselves to leave again for dinner. So we ordered delivery from a place we tried earlier in the week and liked. It was a relief to to eat in the room, watch a movie, and not get sweaty again!
We switched hotels and the new one is very nice! We spent a couple of midday hours at the pool before having lunch and unpacking. We are meeting the rest of our group for dinner tonight so we chose to take it easy this afternoon. We were all needing a down day to recover from the heat.

Notice as I have started doing more mileage again this month my VO2max is creeping up again. All this in spite of the texas weather summer conditions which remain difficult so I suspect this is a true improvement. I am enjoying the vacation stories!
Finally made it over 800 running miles for the year. Good thing I am not trying run all my run the year miles for sure altho I could probably do it with just intentional walks (at 294 miles) and not including all the other steps/miles from my fitbit but it would be close.

@SummerSkier well done on crossing 800M for the year so far!0

Welcome @autumnsnow786 . Looks like you are doing great. You probably already know this, since you said you are getting back into running, but starting slow and easy and being consistent is the key to continuing. Feel free to jump into the conversations. This is a great group of people you have found.
Great running @Scott6255 . Enjoy your weekend in Austin!
Six and 6.5 miles in that heat is amazing @kgirlhart ! Glad you found some sprinklers.
You're doing great @chris_in_cal !
Doing great @Mari33a . Those are the shoes I wear all the time. I need to purchase some new ones soon.
@martaindale You are doing great exercising while on vacation. Enjoy the museum and glad you were able to communicate with the lady at the store. Sometimes, speaking the same language does not equate to the ability to communicate with one another. Enjoy the rest of your vacation and I'm glad it cooled off. Hope it stays that way for a few days.
You're doing great @Zaxa2021 !
You're doing great @tarun_yadavA . Enjoy the birthday celebrations, but try to not to take the pub crawl literally.
Great 9 miles in the on and off rain @Teresa502 !
You're doing great with the mileage @SummerSkier !
I'm all caught up. I'm going to take Tippy for a walk and head over for the family reunion (my late husband's ex-wife's family reunion). I should get to see all 5 grand-kids and 9 great-grandkids!

Hi Everyone! I haven’t had time to post my latest runs or comment on the Pop Tart/wind chime convo . I got 8.1km in on the 12th and 10.3km on the 13th. The weather was ideal both days. Tomorrow is supposed to get really hot again, so fingers crossed I can get a run in before my energy is zapped away. One week countdown to California . So far for July 71.8/150km.
@TheMrWobbly Congrats on getting a spot in the London Marathon. Good luck preparing ! You can do it!4 -

@Scott6255 that article really made me mad. Sounds like it made the Italians mad though, too.quilteryoyo wrote: »Sounds like you may be making a little progress @polskagirl01 . That's good to see. Lifting boxes is certainly a good workout. Great job on the bike ride and calming down the wind chimes. I am not a wind chime person. I would rather hear the leaves blowing. Can this be our next debate?I had a very restful day at the lake on Wednesday after the bike ride and other than a slight sunburn where I didn't have sunscreen, I still felt good. Yesterday I drove to town for grocery pickup, and intended to go to the lake after lunch, but fell asleep instead. Still felt ok. This morning though, I've been really sleepy, and figured maybe that was a good thing, like my body has finally switched off the fight/flight mode I've been feeling for weeks and is letting me get some good, deep rest. The pacing/HRV apps agreed that something was definitely off balance though, and I'm really hoping my body is fighting the LC and not something else I've picked up. I really don't think I've overdone things at all this week. If the theory about the nicotine patch is correct, this could also be the immune response to the viral junk that have been released by those receptor thingies that released them in order to attach to their preferred nicotine molecules. Which would also (I think?) be a good thing.Either way, my goal today is to stay under 2,000 steps. It's 7pm, I'm at 1,820 and am only planning one more trip out of bed tonight. Haha, I'm still setting goals and going for them 😆
Only interaction with other living things all day was feeding the fish & chickens (who kept setting off the driveway alarm, making me think someone was here), and seeing the little bird who hangs out near the porch, some squirrels and a deer walking by in the field while I was eating outside. I still haven't seen the groundhog family from under my shed.7 -
Oh and on the windchimes... there are a lot of them. Most are OK, and one is supposed to be a reminder of my deceased grandmother, but I'm not sure which one, so will definitely take the glove back off of the one that bothers me before they come back. It's kind of a medium size, but the notes don't make a nice musical sound to me and it feels like pointless noise. I can handle the smaller ones, although I prefer sounds of nature.4

Great running @Laurz9191 ! Enjoy California!
Sorry it is still a rollercoaster for you @polskagirl01 . I hope that the highs and lows start to level out soon. Love your restful day.
Still not enough time to post my runs, but I'm doing more than I expected to do while here, so I'm happy. I'll try to catch up on that post soon.3 -

Hot and beautiful sunset. I enjoyed getting out, because lord knows I am too heavy and too old for sitting around all day at work, typing, and participating in zoom calls.
I'm loving the vacation posts...living vicariously through ya'll.

Morning all... About to force a run after a night of heavy drinking and then eating everything in sight (this night out was 'priced in' and circled on the calendar - so I'm not p!ssy about it!)
@quilteryoyo thank you! Had a great night.
Hope you're having a lovely time in FL with the extended/blended family! 😊
@chris_in_cal @Laurz9191 *LOVE* Death Valley. Beautiful. Did sunset at Zabriskie point... beautiful. Wasn't that hot when I went - Dec 2021.5 -
Just got back from an 11k run. Humid humid but at least there was wind. I’m glad I got it done.
@chris_in_cal No thanks to Death Valley ! That’s too hot! We are going to spend a week in Yosemite though, which I am sure will be plenty hot enough .
@quilteryoyo I hope you have a great trip!
@martaindale I am amazed that you are able to run, do all the sightseeing and manage the heat. It sounds like you are having a great trip.
I was thinking a lot about wind chimes on my run today. I can’t remember the last time I even heard a wind chime. That makes it hard for me to answer whether or not I like them. Same thing with pop tarts. My weakness is oddly enough goldfish. I can do without most American sweets.
@tarun_yadavA Ever heard of moderation? . It seems like you like to run fast, party hard. I’m impressed you can get yourself out the door!7 -
Hi all,
Got in a 10K (09"14)...
@Laurz9191 moderation-shmoderation... Lol
PS: agree with you... American salty stuff wayyy better than American chocolate/candy4 -

The sky was quite glorious this morning.
Didn't see any people. Just horses, cows, one deer and one bunny rabbit.
Nice running everyone!
