Love all the positive thoughts on summer time running!

I ran 6 miles today. It ended up being a good run, but it started out not good. The mean dog was out of his yard again. He is only about 2 blocks from my house, so it was right at the start of the run. I had picked up some rocks when I started out, so I yelled at him and threw rocks at him and he stopped following me, but it left me rattled. The only other dog that has ever run at me like that bit me. And it was a little dog too. I actually had to stop for a minute because I felt like my heart was just pounding. My average pace for the run was11:45, but my best pace was 5:22. I'm sure it wasn't for long.😊 I was feeling annoyed for the first mile or so, but after a while I settled down. I guess I am going to have to change my route to not pass his house for a while. That really annoys me because I run that way because it is the most well lit, least pothole riddled route from my house to the highway, so it has always been the safest way to go.

That's too bad. I love dogs and don't love most dog owners.
I know you aren't asking for advise, but I can't help but think of you getting a furry running companion who is just slightly larger and meaner than the little pip squeak who comes chasing after you.0 -
I have a run to report on, LOL
I had taken a box up to my shed (I use a little red wagon to transport things back and forth so I don't have to do much carrying/lifting and can walk as slow as I want with the wagon). Left the garage door wide open, because I had more stuff to take up there. Came back to the house and was laying here taking a break when all of a sudden, it started POURING rain. So it's only about 100 meters but I did run all of it and was soaked within the first few seconds, but got to the shed, shut the door, and mopped everything up before catching my breath and walking back. I'm already in a stress-induced fight-or-flight mode (that same family drama is back, uggh), so it's hard to say whether that little bit of exertion was damaging or not. Maybe the cool water hitting my face helped. It actually felt somewhat nice running for a few seconds.10 -

This morning I got in 9.1km. It was hot. I should have left earlier. I am liking my route ok, as it feels the “safest” direction to run in, but much prefer my forest and river run in Germany.
Our trip to Long Beach was really fun! Thanks for the suggestion @shanaber and @chris_in_cal to go to Parker’s Lighthouse. Maybe in a few years I can check it out if I end up back here. My kids are quite wild and feral , and pretty much impossible to take to restaurants (especially the 3 year old). Guess that’s a perk for my belt buckle . They loved being able to run around the very crowded aquarium and touch the animals they were allowed to touch. There is a lot to see there. I was so beat from all the excitement that I took a day off yesterday.
So far for July I have run 135.6km/150km.8 -

My legs felt tired this morning when I rolled out of bed and wouldn’t you know it, in my Epic workout series that I’m doing it was glutes and hamstrings day. I did the workout and then got in a very short, slow run to keep my streak alive. Things are really heating up around here with the current heat wave we have passing through. On the positive side though, the tomatoes in the garden are starting to turn red. Homegrown tomatoes are the best!
@kgirlhart – I’m so sorry you had a scare with the dog.
@polskagirl01 – A run is a run!
@tarun_yadavA – Have you recovered from your travels and jet lag?
@Laurz9191 – Kudos to you for running on vacation. It sounds like you get a lot of running in chasing after the little ones! Enjoy!
@Scott6255 – So impressed with your stint on the treadmill.
@Mari33a – You’ve been so consistent with your running and spinning. Are you still in weight loss mode? I need to regain my focus. I’ve let it slip in the last couple of weeks.
@martaindale – I hear you on the tired legs! Good job getting out there.

Got in 7.4km this morning. There were some clouds in the sky, so the heat wasn’t as bad even though I left the house a bit late again.
I am off to meet up with some of my oldest friends for the weekend, so no more running till Monday .
143km/150km for July. I’m planning on squeezing the last 7 in on Monday .7 -
Made my 100 yesterday with 4 days to go! My avg mileage for the month was not one of my best but definitely better up almost a mile per day.
July has been good. I have been able to play tennis and sleep and run without taking a lot of meds and some days I even forget I have an injury. Sucks that it takes 90 days or more for things to resolve but all part of the process. I am NOT patient that way but I know it could be worse.
@AlphaHowls awesome list of summertime positives!! As I yearn for ANY morning below 70 and 80% humidity it is better to remember that my FINGERS are not freezing off.
@polskagirl01 sorry about the family stuff. Not fun but pretty cool you got a nice little endorphin shadow from your sprint to the garage. 😊
I really wish MFP would fix the issues posting from my non apple friends. 😩 I even had to join Strava just to keep an eye on @tarun_yadavA 😉7 -
@kgirlhart Great running. I hope they got the dog fence fixed permanently. Glad Wednesday's run was better at the end. Sorry to see that the dog went after you again. You may have to call animal control and complain. I know you don't want to, but that may be necessary. Of course, I have changed my route because of dogs around here too. It is annoying. I think someone once mentioned that they run with a mini fog horn - something on their key chain, that they can sound to scare off dogs. I had thought about trying to find one myself, but never did.
@Teresa502 Great running and congrats on your highest month total already . I had my first homegrown tomato and bacon sandwich earlier this week. It was so good....the tomato was from a neighbor. Ours aren't red yet, but are getting there. I agree...they are so much better than anything you can get from the store.
@Scott6255 I hope you enjoyed the outdoor concert. Great job with your running.
@AlphaHowls Great list of summer positives.
Great running with the jet lag @tarun_yadavA !
@polskagirl01 Nice run report. I'm sure that felt nice to do and glad things didn't get too wet. Sorry about the family drama coming back though.
Thanks @Mari33a ! You are doing great running when you can!
@Laurz9191 Great running and glad you enjoyed your trip to Long Beach. Enjoy your friends weekend! Sounds great.
Great running @SummerSkier ! Congrats on making 100 miles already. I have thought about joining Strava to keep up with people. Is it hard to join?
Think I got caught up. Sorry I've been missing for a few days again. Just haven't had the time to get on the computer and I really have a hard time commenting from my phone, which what I have when I'm watching the kids sleep at daycare. LOL I'll try to catch you up on my last few runs/walks in a little while - after I do tonight's workout.

Great job getting your 100 miles @SummerSkier!
Like the all positive vibes @AlphaHowls!
Got in my 10K TM after work. Outside tomorrow morning. God help us all 🥵

@quilteryoyo @Teresa502 Y'all are just starting to get tomatoes and mine peaked a few weeks ago. They are still producing a little, but are definitely on their way out. They're looking pretty rough. My basil is hanging strong though!2

This morning's run felt really good. Just one of those mornings where everything clocks into place. It was only 75F, so wasn't as stifling. I hit sprinklers about every 2 miles. My legs felt fresher after a short run yesterday and a good night's sleep. Just a really nice run.7 -
I am deflating. From being busy I rescheduled a run, and then cancelled it. Today's run I cancelled from feeling ill. Some of you run with limbs hanging off whilst in 1000 degree heat. I have a tummy ache.
A massive implosion, or minor setback? We'll see.9 -
chris_in_cal wrote: »Some of you run with limbs hanging off whilst in 1000 degree heat. I have a tummy ache.
Heat you can cure with water - stomach issues have consequences that can't be solved if you re 3 miles from a toilet! A wise choice. I didn't exercise yesterday because those that said they were going backed out and I went "Well why should I then", nothing stopped me other than being ****** off with them. SMH!
Great work on reaching the 100 @SummerSkier . I have hit my much smaller target of 50 miles and hope to push towards 60 with tomorrow's long run.
It has gone from 'Scorchio' to 'bring your brolly' here in a heartbeat. Good luck with the outdoor run @Scott6255
How is the garden looking @polskagirl01 ?
I attempted a new yoga lesson today, more of a 'flow' than the grounded stretching I tried so far. Fair to say it was a good job nobody was watching as I faceplanted more than once trying one legged poses.

Morning everyone!
Got in another 6K. Taking it easy with pace/distance for a week or two.
@SummerSkier awww. Joining Strava! 😊
@Teresa502 nearly... Sleeping etc at right times now... But still tired.
Off day today. Pre booked from months ago. England v Australia at the stadium 🍻7
