Hello ladies!
Barbie thank you for the new thread! Five pages already!
I feel like I was climbing back onto the diet and exercise wagon and fell off again. Splat!
I can't remember if I already said, but my mom lost a tooth and the next one is now loose. I can't force her to see a dentist. But preventable disease drives me crazy. Makes me feel powerless. Yesterday she was mumbling.
Allie what a wonderful cruise! So glad you had the chance to go.
Pip you are doing so well on your bike miles. Yay! And great to find a buyer for the camper.
I need to dye my hair today. Maybe after lunch. I'm going out to lunch on Monday. And the real excitement is that I ordered some books- the first three Ladies Murder Club by James Patterson, and Birthright by Nora Roberts, and one about Mundy's landing by Wendy Corsi Staub. Sometimes Patterson is too gruesome, and sometimes Nora Roberts is too much sweetness and light, so they ought to balance each other out. I have been reading Sandra Brown, who must run a home for rogue FBI agents because they pop up everywhere! But she has a knack for escapist romance.
My mom has a couple hundred books in the basement. Some of the romances are too mushy, but I usually like Sandra Brown and Karen Robards. My own contemporary favorite is Lisa Regan, the Josie Quinn series, whose next book is due out any day now. Plus I'm reading Sara Paretsky, the VI Warshawski series.
If only reading was exercise!

Just checking in for September started with an athletic/physio trainer who has experience working with balance disorders. This is instead of going to a physical therapist because they will only work on one body part at a time and right now I have issues with back, knees, shoulder and menieres so I’m hoping they can help me strengthen all over .
Had a strange ugly blood vessel pop in my eye yesterday while working with a literal empty not weighted barbell and 2.5lb weight. Must have been the bending over and squatting because I can’t imagine a total of 5lbs would make me bust an eye vein.
Just finished nice breakfast of Avocado toast and eggs, no salt, no butter and a walk around the block 1mile. Gonna take it easy this weekend no plans other than occasional walk and bbq some turkey burgers at some point.
Enjoy your weekend and be safe

My numbers were way too high. I’m still taking a B-complex. B-12 is supposed to range between 211-911 pg/ml but mine was at 1255. I stopped for a week and will see where my numbers are in 3 months. I may need to go to every-other day.

I have convinced my DH through watching programs about what sugar does to you, and other programs on proper diet, to go organic. I am happy about that. So I re-upped my subscription with MisFit foods. They missed 2 items in the last order but were very good about reimbursing me for that. Today is first day of shopping time, can’t wait! I enjoy picking good food for us. DH would only get what was ‘on sale or clearance’ when he shops. Not always the best stuff, so between all my sudden medical issues and these instructive programs, convinced him I was right in the first place!
23 days dry and almost 3 pounds lost in that time. Both great wins!

Snowflake1968 wrote: »Rebecca - my DH used to drive truck before cells and such. We only talked when he chose to call and then for only a few minutes because of the cost. We were discussing the other day how much better it probably is with video chats, texting, etc. none of it replaces face to face though.
I’m excited for you.
Machka - I have been struggling to get motivated to start losing weight again. I know I can do it. I don’t know why it because so increasingly difficult when it’s something I want.
I have noticed that I’m feeling better mentally than I have in 4 years, coincidentally that’s when I started working at the job Im on leave from, hopefully this will change soon.
Heather - I am really learning about learning styles right now. I am making great marks, but don’t feel I’m retaining a lot because I’m not actually “doing” anything. I need to do to learn, I also find watching videos for some things difficult. Knitting was one of them.
I like deep conversations as well, more than just chit chat.
I meant to tell you that a Ted talk I had to watch yesterday was a lady from Brighton.
Ginny - mapping out a plan for selling will be helpful I bet.
Apparently this course doesn’t have any big exams. The little sessions we do throughout are what make up our final grades. It’s a very different model than what I am familiar with. I am not enjoying the online part much at all, but I’m getting through it.
Lanette - my birthday is on the 13th. Nothing big planned this year. I will be 55.
Terri - I hope to be like you when I grow up and have a lot of different activities to attend. I truly believe that it helps keep our mind and body active.
Lisa - Kelsey just can’t seem to catch a break with that ex at all. I hope that he gets some kind of repercussion that stings a bit.
Margaret- thank you. I am hoping to use some of the OG method to help our granddaughter, she is not dyslexic but a bit behind. She is starting grade 2 next week. Her preschool ended abruptly due to Covid and her kindergarten was shortened as well. She is trying very hard to catch up, but some of this may help her.
Allie - that week went fast!
Joy - Our province is just amazing to me. It is so diverse. We noticed last week there were a lot of fields that had their swathing complete but just laying in the field. We figured it needed to dry to be baled. Hope your DH has no issues.
Vicki - I hope you can have a break this weekend.
Barbara - You are kinder than me. I sing all the time. I actually made a cup for myself a couple weeks ago that says, “Just because I can’t sing, doesn’t mean I won’t sing.”
Katie - my daughter has a spin mop. She swears by it. I use the old fashioned yacht mop. I want to get a swiffer though.
Thank you for sharing your devotional. I have been surprised by how well I’m doing, but I sure know I can’t keep a perfect score. I wouldn’t want to put that pressure on myself.
Barbie - with your Netflix recommendation and someone else’s today I may have to subscribe again. I cancelled it a few months ago.
I’m so happy you are adopting Bodhi. He is a fortunate dog to have found you and Jake.
Had a little visit with our eldest and the Grands today. They were finishing up their back to school shopping. I managed to get mostly unpacked and stuff out away. I use our suitcases for storage, DH’s for the craft show stuff and mine for seasonal clothes. Since I had everything out I went through my clothes and have a bag in the car to donate. I put most of my summer clothes away and brought out the warmer ones.
It’s a strange year since I won’t have to leave the house a lot until April I think.
Tomorrow I’ll finish my cleaning. There is a strange smell in my kitchen that is driving me insane. I can’t figure out where it’s coming from and fear that it’s something under the trailer.
There’s always something.

Yes, I recall when at college my weekend calls just crying on the phone because I missed home. It probably wouldn't have been so traumatic if we could have seen each other. Also if the boys would have been able to see Dad when was out to sea, well he would have still been a part of their lives. But with that non separation comes stress too. Kids not understanding the whys of not being able to touch them. "I mean I can see Daddy why can't I hug him"!

Had a lovely long phone call with L today. She is desperately trying to declutter, but is held back because of loyalty to her dead partner. I think he made most of the decisions around the home.
She also wants to start writing some memoir type stuff, but is afraid to start.
Luckily, she is doing lots of travelling and visiting right now. She is soon off to Ireland with her sister, to see if she can validate her grandfather's Irish nationality. If she can, she can apply for a joint passport and therefore EU rights. I'm envious. I would love to be a citizen of the EU.
DH has decluttered his desk. I deadheaded the geraniums, which has been annoying me for a week. He has attempted the shower. Stronger stuff needed.
I still haven't asked him about the kitchen cupboard door.
All good. I really hope L claims back the house for herself. She has made a start with her bedroom and study. But his decor and choices are everywhere.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx2 -
Annie- have you tried The Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah Maas. It wasn’t a series I thought I would like, I usually read suspense, mystery or romance. My daughter talked me into it and I couldn’t put them down.3

Rita - I also tested over 1200 a month ago- well over the threshold. Messaged Dr. Lisa if that was a potential problem, she never did respond. I took that to mean the rest of the lab tests were normal so nothing was out of whack, I was ingesting plenty.
I just went back and reviewed old labs. 5 years ago it was in the 1700's! Then a year later, 1400's. Ten years ago it was in the 300's. Go figure. I think when it was super high, I was taking a supplement.
DH's was in the 200's-300's, and the lab notes say under 400 people have an increased risk for dementia. Hmm... this might have been another factor for his memory loss.
Next time I see Dr. Lisa or Dr. Matt I'll ask more about it.

Annie Reading can be exercise. I listen to audiobooks while walking, riding my exercise bike , and doing housework. I get my books from the public library so they don't cost me anything. Also, being powerless can be a freedom. If I am powerless then there's nothing I can do so I don't waste time and energy fretting about those things
Debbie I would love to walk where you are to see the birds and the water

Welcome @denisecal ! Would you say hello to my birth city for me? Aches, ugh hate ‘em. They’re worse when I’m sedentary. If I can make myself get up and move, even just a little, legs always feel better.
Heather hearing how contagious your decluttering is and that you’re back to your 5K.
Pip 2K miles and a confirmed buyer for Bette 3.0! Congratulations!
Lisa an AR WOW You are a wonderwoman with a little good sleep!
Barbie for those of us who don’t have Netflix here’s a preview interview on YouTube. https://youtu.be/6SOZIuyi8nc Misting up hearing you’ve decided to be Bodhi’s forever family.

Welcome @cormieannie in Ontario. Well done on keeping active.
Karen in VA good to see you popping in. Hoping all’s well with you and yours.
Annie “… if only reading was exercise!” Amen, sister, amen!
Rosa hope the physio trainer really helps your balance issues. Scary about that blood vessel in your eye. Did the trainer say anything?

Whidislander wrote: »Tracey-breaking the streak had to happen some time! It is way ok that it did. The piece of paper at the end is what people will look for-very seldom are actual grades important. I think you are spot on about finding time to move during your day to keep back in shape. A sit/stand desk may be helpful-depending on type of computer you can sometimes improvise.
Heather-the construction crane pictures were impressive. I hope they can have most everything settled by the time children start school. DH picture is very nice-I like the colors and the overall feel.
Rebecca-insurance makes sense about doctors-every plan has different rules to follow. If you don't follow all of them you can end up paying more $$ for no really good reason.
Machka-we do all see things differently. Yesterday I injured as to location of room someone was talking about-I am very familiar with the building. Even when he drew a diagram I couldn't completely visualize. He left out a door I considered to be important to the picture. He said since it is usually open he doesn't consider it . . . perhaps there is a gender difference? I try to keep patience when probing for understanding.
I think steroid is helping knock back inflammation. I have a few more days to go on medications. I have knocked back walking to 20 minute stretches. Hopefully I can work back up because I do like the distance and help with calories but I will just have to monitor.
Was thinking of going off and hitting casino today but think I will work most of morning and take some time early this pm. I really need to finish back room and get other stuff caught up. With long weekend I can make some very good progress. Need to map out things that need done before selling house next year and start on them.
Off to do something to start my day. Stretches and a short walk are on agenda.
Take care all,

Sadly my military insurance gets a bad wrap. Between doctors needing to be in its system, to doctors being in their system that have changed medical fields or retired, it makes it difficult for my primary doctors to effectively choose a doctor these days. Our clinic on base has family practice doctors but no specialty docs. Many out in town doctors are full up, so its a long wait even be able to make an appointment. My ENT doc appointment is in December. But you take what you can. Our insurance tends to pay medical companies pennies on the procedure. So like my $1500 gallbladder experience was broken down to my insurance paying a $400, my bill was $75, and the medical company has to eat the rest.

The insurance company usually has a contracted rate with facilities and they already know what rate they will be paid. So the facilities are not losing $ because that is contracted rate. This is what is wrong with health care. Hospitals or facilities are willing to take a contracted rate but not for uninsured people.3 -
Hi! Cindy from Pensacola,

-I lost 4 lbs this month. Total loss 33lb since January 2023. Slow & steady wins the race. My current wt is 183lb. Goal wt is 145lb.

- I have decided to Eat to live not Live to eat. I think there is a difference which includes a mindset.
- On the diet prescribed I am allowed 75gr carbs 110 gr Protein I usually stay under 35 gram carb. I stay satisfied. I drink protein H2O & chocolate protein supplement to
Balance protein intake.

Hello to All! I finally got caught up reading but didn't start taking notes until page 3!
Lisa ~ So sorry that the saga continues with your daughter and her x husband. Glad you were able to scare the animals lurking outside Egg’s door. And, happy to hear that your energy levels are enabling you to be more active. Trimming all those branches and hauling them to the burn pit was a LOT of work.
Pip ~ You are amazing! Love seeing all the records you are setting with your bike rides for MS.
Allie ~ That peach drink looks delicious and so happy you have had a fun week.
Barbie ~ Bodhi had found a really good home at last!
Debbie ~ The marshes where you walk are beautiful.
Machka and Heather ~ You and your husbands are into so many activities that you both enjoy together. That is a great way to live. My husband and I were able to enjoy hunting antiques and jewelry for selling before the pandemic, but, health problems and the economy have put a stop to most of that.
Annie ~ I too like most of Lisa Regan’s books. I also like Fern Michaels. Sorry about your mom’s teeth failing, but, think it must have a lot to do with age related gum disease and don’t even know if a dentist could help.
My husband's transmission on his van went wonky and it would have cost more than the van was worth to have it repaired. So we ended up trading in my car and buying a 2021 Jeep Compass. We will be a one car family for a while. I don't know how that is going to work, but, we will have to make it do for now. I am so short that it's a bit difficult for me to get in and out, but it is easier for him
Take care everyone!

Ginny: Your story about the bloke who didn’t think the door was important! 😂 reminded me of when we lived with my in laws when we were first married. DMiL was always bellowing at her boys to shut doors. I seriously think that DH and his brothers left them open on purpose to wind her up at times. DH still doesn’t close doors. 😝 but in a centrally heated house it’s not an issue.
Someone mentioned the blue zone so off to Google it 😝
☘️ Terri
here, closing doors is not an issue- with all the cats, the doors are quickly closed. A few times dh didn't close them quick enough and I spent a few hours catching the cats that had gotten out.
Now, Lights, that is another story. They are left on all the time and it drives me crazy. I am constantly going around turning lights off. There is no reason for dh to leave a light on in the garage 24/7. I turn it off and next time I go out there, it is back on. TV is the same way- he will leave the house and leave everything on, even when he is going to be gone a few hours or more.
I am so much like my dad. He was always going around turning lights off that were on when no one was in that room.4 -
