I didn't know there was a vitamin blood work. I will have to ask.
Heather UK I like the way you shop, cook, and eat. Fresh daily sounds wonderful!
Blood work for vitamins can be very expensive. In my case, I am lucky as my functional doctor has an agreement with the lab so I don’t have to pay anything for the quarterly bloodwork. I really like that they give me copies of the results as I can look up online any abnormal results and read what to change in my diet to fix it. For example, my cholesterol numbers were good but upside down according the doc. She said more good fats and exercise would help. Well the first 3 months didn’t help, so I bought some MCT oil (Bulletproof brand) and use a Tablespoon every day at breakfast. This small change ‘fixed’ my cholesterol numbers to be perfect! Of course, I will always have to take medicines for my cholesterol as I have a heredity issue with being bad, but it is now lower than I’ve had in a very long time and in the normal range. I read up on hypothyroidism and found that zinc could help. I added zinc and found my numbers there normalized. Again I need medication for thyroid due to heredity but the zinc brought them to a more normal number. As for hormones supplementation, I did not want the synthetic hormones so my doc suggested I take DHEA for that. I have and now my hormones are back to normal!
For me this works but everyone is different and need to address what works best for them in supplementations, medications, diet, and exercise. I experiment until I find what works. I wouldn’t be able to do that if my doctors didn’t do the quarterly blood-works. This lets me know if the changes really worked. I highly recommend finding a functional doctor if you can. Mine is my primary care, but you can use them in addition to a traditional physician.

Glad I check my bank account almost every day. Learned that someone had charged almost $400 at Walmart and it's pending tomorrow. Cancelled the card and will contact bank tomorrow (closed today for Labor Day).
Kylia ~ So glad you had a successful journey to the cabin. Yes, self care is important.
Barbie ~ Your quote about shutting your mouth hit home. It made me remember a Bible verse that essentially said, "Do not speak in the hearing of a fool, for he will despise the good sense of your words."
I take lots of different vitamins. My brother who is a retired Pharmacist said that he is taking a huge amount of supplements to ward of Covid attacks. Can't remember the main one he liked though.

Decluttering ~ Yesterday I swept the carpeted basement stairs that go to the garage. It was probably the first time in 15 years. My next task is to continue sweeping the garage floor. With some work, I finally got DH to store some unnecessary bedding and towels in vacuum sealed bags to store upstairs. Not without him being irritated I must say. Also will be donating some of his summer shorts that he cannot wear any more or vacuum seal them. And, he had a drawer full of OLD underpants that he let me throw away. I would say that that is progress. I need to donate winter coats from my mom's passing to Good Will. Also a lot of her handbags and shoes. Just need to get up off my butt and do it.

Did it! Got my guest bedroom turned back into my exercise room again - it's a small room, only about 8x10 feet, but I've got my elliptical, rower, yoga mat and aerobic step in there. Which I tend to use more as a weight bench for chest presses, etc., but I do drag it out in the living room on occasion and turn the music up. I've got a full set of resistance bands too, and need to get myself into a routine with those. I wanted to get this set back up before winter comes in and all the outside work is over for the season. Right now, I'm getting plenty of exercise outside! Also wanted to get the new bed set upright like it is, in hope that I can keep Egg from colonizing it forever...
Later, y'all,
Love,

Lisa that looks like a great setup! You are ready to go!
Carol, that's too bad about the stolen card. Hope you aren't liable. And way to go, cleaning out stuff!
I still have my bag to donate from last time I cleaned. Doesn't it have to age a year first?
My lunch partner got sick and cancelled on me, so I am back to my regular diet today. Hopefully back to my exercise too. I mixed up a meatloaf for my parents but it still has to be cooked. Meanwhile I am hiding from the heat and reading my murder mysteries.

MFP Accountability Post for September 4, 2023
Kylia in OH - 123.7- last Sunday. I bounced between that and 125 all week. lots of eating out, lack of water (didn't help migraine). No more weigh ins for 2 weeks.
Debbie in CA - only down 2oz this week so pretty much the same.
Lanette SW WA State – no big change on scale, but waist circumference has decreased, pants more comfortable – which was a primary goal.

Lisa your exercise room looks great1

I've not been feeling 100% today. Joint ache, general malaise, and very bloated and uncomfortable. Either I've caught a bug, or my auto immune thing is having a flare up.
DH may have to collect Bea from school by himself tomorrow. It's going to be hot, and my stamina is shot. We have directions to the right classroom to pick her up from, but we haven't been told yet whether we are bringing her back here, or to their house. I still haven't seen their renovations.
DH had a good day at cricket, but is happy to take a day off tomorrow. It's a long round trip.
I will be sleeping upstairs tonight as I anticipate restlessness. One good thing is I was feeling too ill to drink any alcohol! Haven't had these aches in ages, since the cruise.
Probably caught something from Edie!

Snowflake1968 wrote: »Heather - Thank you. That was beautiful.
Annie - I enjoy Sandra Brown and Nora Roberts. Birthright is a good book. I enjoy her settings quite a lot.
I’ve also read some Karen Robards, not as many as her. I like romance/mystery type books and books about character. I’ve enjoyed Kristin Hannah, but some of hers make me feel too much so I have to take them slowly.
Rita - you are doing so well.
Heather - how long ago did L’s husband pass? Was it two years now?
My Mom never changed anything after Dad passed except she did give his toes to my BF’s uncle, she knew he needed clothes badly.
Lanette - I didn’t know that about B-12, I’m going to start taking mine regularly.
Ginny - I like SUV’s for the same reason. DH’s truck has running boards or o would be in trouble.
Kim - that cat seems like too much to me.
Kylia - How old is your granddaughter. Is she Dyslexic by any chance?
Michele - I’m shocked your dollar store has a return policy. They all have no refunds or returns here.
I commend you for doing your floors on your hands and knees, I couldn’t handle that at all anymore. I have done it, but wouldn’t now.
Rebecca - we are so short of doctors now, that most people have no choice but to go to ER when it’s not an emergency.
Kylia - I was having headaches everyday for months, I was extremely unhappy, depressed, and having numerous bowel and stomach issues. I am doing so much better. I haven’t had a headache for probably 2 months now, still have some stomach and bowel issues when I think about work or know I have to deal with something regarding it. I know you are in a tough situation, but I think you would be better off in a new job too.
Our power usage isn’t the issue, it’s all of the distribution and administration fees that make it horrendous. Same with our gas.
Barbara - that must be a relief to have some of the roads opened up again.
Barbie - I need to make your “Never miss an opportunity to keep my mouth shut” one of my mottos.
Before DH and I were married I was dating a guy whose mother was from Hungary. She told the story of escaping in the middle of the night when she was 6 years old. There were a couple of Hungarian dishes she made that I really enjoyed. I don’t know what they were called though. She is my FB friend, but she’s not on much, I don’t know if she would remember what I liked or not.
Lisa - I just love your property.
Pip - congratulations on the sale.
I have had a pretty busy weekend so far. Kaitlyn is coming tomorrow and we are going to work on a gallery wall.
I walked in the living room tonight for 25 minutes because it is too smoky to be outside doing it.
I woke up this morning and the furnace was running, it was cool.

Carol - glad you caught it that $400 charge. Is that a debit card? And it's great you are starting to make a dent in some of the cleaning and decluttering.
Yesterday I cleaned out the top part of my cupboard. Pitched cereals and crackers that were way past the best by date - foods my DH ate that got pushed to the back. One shelf at a time, one drawer at a time. Nice to focus on progress, no matter how small.
Lisa - LOVE your workout room! It's giving me ideas how to set mine up in the shop office. I got a shocker - thought I could get a high quality treadmill with the drum money..... I hadn't priced them in a while. I don't need anything with bells and whistles, so hoping I can find a dumbed-down version in my price range. I need to go to the gym some day when it's not busy and check out what they have. The staff there is good about making recommendations.
Had a nice surprise this morning - my friend and her son pulled in for the chicken tour and general catch-up. They are now planning to make apple cider vinegar and fermented garlic/honey - I made 2 pints last year which should be a good throat soother for any respiratory bug that's floating around.

Barbie and Annie - Thank you... I already proved to myself this afternoon that it makes it very easy to go in and row for ten minutes while I listen to a podcast. When you make it easier to exercise, you're more likely to do so. Well, I am, anyway. Got it set up because one thing I've learned after the last few years is that I need to take advantage of the current time to make things make sense to me now. Not tomorrow. Now.
Tracey - So glad you like the property - we do too! This was the dream, and it is so satisfying to be working on our own place, making it better. I told Corey from the jump that I was not going to go into any work on this place with the notion of whether an eventual buyer might like it, whether it's painting a room or clearing space outside. It's about what we want, and what we love. And the invitation's open you know... anytime you want to visit. We've got fast wi-fi and an exercise room!
Lanette - Glad I gave you some ideas! I've put them a little too close together to do some things, but it's because I stuck the rugs to the floor and didn't want to unstick them yet . I'll be able to ootch out a little more room between the rower and the yoga mat and the aerobics bench with just a little more thought... I have to admit that I did wonder how much you got for your drums when you said you'd use the money to buy a treadmill. Good ones are definitely not cheap (or lightweight!), and there's usually a delivery fee and an assembly fee on top of the cost.
Got the salmon patties put together and in the freezer to firm up, and Corey is out "walking the back 40" with Egg. It's not 40 acres, it's about three close to the house, and it's not the back, it's more the side, but "walking the side three" just doesn't sound right.
Love y'all,

Machka I read the article link you posted about too much vitamin B12. I now know why my doc suggested I lower or stop the extra supplementation:
“There is also some evidence suggesting that high doses of B12 may lead to negative health outcomes in those with diabetes or kidney disease.
One 2010 study found that people with diabetic nephropathy (loss of kidney function due to diabetes) experienced a more rapid decline in kidney function when supplemented with high dose B vitamins, including 1 mg per day of B12 (7Trusted Source).
What’s more, the participants receiving the high dose B vitamins had a greater risk of heart attack, stroke, and death, compared to those receiving a placebo. However, more recent studies are needed to support this claim (7Trusted Source, 8Trusted Source).”
I am pre-diabetic and now have early kidney disease so will need to watch the B12 numbers more closely! Thanks for the article link!

Good reason to cut back!
I did see that part, but although I have early CKD, I don't have diabetes.

i have covid and was never able to go to the museum and dinner with my son and DIL. I Slept for 4 days and am just feeling a little better now. I read through some of the postings but was too weak to take any notes. Allie I am glad you had a good trip! Thinking of all of you and will be back to posting soon.

Rosemarie- sorry you got the creeping crud too..the new strain is rearing its ugly head again.
Finally stopped to see munchkin boy.. he talking so much more.but still tugging on mommy and wanting to nurse ,i think he does it for comfort and because he is tired.
Im tired too..so I shall say good night..Heather and Rosemarie hope you both feel better.4 -
Just work, then in the pool, then took a walk around the neighborhood. I used to be able to go into the neighborhood adjacent to ours but I found out today that they have this blocked off. So I walked my neighborhood. I might go on another road another day
Been pulling weeds around the fence to our pool. We’re going to put down these blocks so the weeds have to go, then we need to even out the ground, put down landscape fabric and then the blocks
Vince is volunteering at the fair today. This is the last day of it.
Bye Bey Bette. It was nice knowing you!
Tracey – the dollar store won’t refund your money, they will only exchange one of their items for another item. My grandmother didn’t talk much about her coming to the US. It was probably too painful. I remember as a kid watching Hogan’s Heroes and she wouldn’t even come in the room. Even tho they were making fun of the Nazi’s, she still got upset by it. I do remember her telling me once how she rode a horse & buggy to the boat. It must have been so hard going to a country where you only knew one person, didn’t know the language.
Vince wants to clean the pool filters tomorrow. Then at night I want to go to Lowes to get a new grill. The one we have has a lot of problems. I found out that they will remove the old one for $30. Not sure why Vince was so hesitant. He acknowledged that the one we have has problems
Terri – you sure keep busy. Can’t wait for ceramics to open up again.
Heather – I don’t like to throw out clothes that I don’t like/no long fit me so I donate them. I’m sure you have donation boxes or some such thing
Happy Labor Day everyone who celebrates
‘
Kylia – have fun at the cabin
Carol – I’m sorry someone made a false charge on your card. Yup, they keep the amounts low so that they don’t stand out
Lisa – great “gym”. Can you see the display on the rower as you are rowing? You put your salmon patties in the freezer? I’ve never done that. When you take them out, do you need to thaw them first before you fry them (I would think so)?
Rosemarie – I hope you feel better soon.
Michele NC3 -
Rosemarie Sorry you caught the Covid! Hope you feel better soon.
Heather hope your illness passes quickly!
Tracey My mom has several Kristen Hannah books. I'm with you, if it's too intense, it has to wait and cool off and tone down a bit.
Today I ate 1233 calories. Fair, but I can do better. I did thirty minutes on my bike, and an hour of yoga, and fifteen minutes of aerobic walking. Yay! I'm hoping to work up to my previous level next week. My deficit today was 303. Yay!

Rosemarie - keep resting, that's the best thing for you.
When I had it last year, my doc didn't even want me to go walking except around the house to do the minimum for a week. I think what helped too was sitting in the afternoon sun for about half an hour the first week, it was late September but I put on shorts and a T shirt. The sun is very healing if you have the ability to do that.
Sending hugs and healing thoughts your way. Once you get over it, you'll have some wonderful antibodies. You'll get there.

Kylia - looks like your vacation has started out well.
Heather - I hope you feel better soon. There is something going around again I hear.
Donation Bags - I do not have any space in my house to store a donation bag so I store them in my car. I usually get them there within 2-3 weeks. This summer I had one a fair amount longer though
Lisa - love the exercise room. I would love a visit. I have travelled the major highways through a few states when DH drove transport. I don’t know if I was in Arkansas or not. Mostly Florida from NB and then back to Ontario. I did take one three week trip to California though. I know we spent a weekend in Old San Diego.
Rosemarie- I hope you feel better soon.
I attempted the shadow box today. It was fun.
Kaitlyn didn’t come visit after all. She is coming tomorrow or next Sunday now. She is not sleeping well so didn’t feel well today.

Rosemarie - Oh what bad luck! Do rest. The first time I was tired for weeks, the second time I coughed for weeks! So sorry you missed your family.
Carol - I seem to recall you had a previous card fraud. Good for you for checking up on it and catching it. I think my last one was about ten years ago. Mustn't speak to soon!
I'm really pleased for you that you have been able to get some decluttering done. It must be hard with a resistant husband.
I've woken up feeling a bit better, and I will see how it goes today after my exercise session. Max was thinking of coming over so he could walk up to the school with DH. He loves a walk and a talk. If the heat is too much, I could get a bus down later to join them and see the house. I'm desperate to see it. It would be fine, but the route to the school includes a long haul along a busy main road, which is a suntrap. I worry my thigh will seize up and I'll be stuck. I don't think it will be quite so hot here, because we are coastal, but there is a heat warning. Hotter than Athens!
DH and I had previously thought we might have a date night afterwards. It would be a shame not to.
Lisa - You could have your yoga mat elsewhere. I have my mat and weights upstairs and go there after the exercise room every morning. I used to have them in the bedroom and just put them away afterwards.
Lanette - Yes, a good one is very expensive, but I think it is better to spend more for a good one. Ours have lasted us 13 years with no trouble. I think the cheap ones get used as clothes stands all too soon. Make sure you can play music and watch videos nearby. Makes all the difference. I learnt German on mine and catch up on my favourite programmes. I have a tablet I can easily prop up on the machine, or next to it.
Love you all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx

Treadmills ... here, you wouldn't want to go under $2000 for a new one.
I have a Sole treadmill but forget which model. I think it was at least $3000 and seems to be good quality. I've been running and walking on it for 4+ years.

Good morning, lovelies.
I slept well last night after my busy day. I had new members in both Creative Writing and Monday Painters, and both groups went well.
Tracey:👻💀👻 Like the Hallowe’en pic.
Carol: Glad you caught that scam.
Lisa: 🥰 the exercise room.
Heather: Glad you feel better this morning. I know you will be sensible and pace yourself.
Rosemarie: So sorry you caught the crud and missed your family. I hope you recover soon.
We are having a mini heatwave this week. Very humid and sweaty! Fortunately, there is a slight breeze to relieve it a little.
I am planning an active rest day. DH is off to badminton and I will do some gentle decluttering while he is out. Also need to go put some petrol in my car.
I will also put laundry away.
What an ‘exciting’ day 😝
🤗 🤗 🤗 and 🙏🏻 🙏🏻 🙏🏻 to all for a stellar day.
