@evileyefirefly I hope to be under 200 around the same time. It's looking like I'll get there around mid-January. 27-ish lbs to go. Let's do this!9

I have just the thing for you, Suzanne (and anyone else who's interested). The Ultimate Accountability Challenge is a group that focuses on building three sustainable daily habits: tracking all food, staying within our calorie allowance, and getting 20 minutes of exercise a day. The group is now private for the rest of the month, but you can still join -- it's all explained in the intro. Come check it out and join us, you won't regret it. (And don't be intimidated... we're all there to work on our health together.)2 -

This happened to me today! Unfortunately I have gained one pound....but I am STILL in the Overweight category. Definitely out of the Obese category forever as it would take quite a large increase in calories and sharp decrease in activity to go back up. In other words, I have reached a new level of lifestyle. I have tweaked my calories and daily exercise as I adjust to continually improving.
On July 19th I posted this. I've been quite busy but maintaining my lifestyle I hadn't properly exercised in at least two weeks, but my eating has changed completely I don't own a scale so I am not a slave to it and use a very accurate Community Centre one instead. Today, I realized it's been about a month and I should weigh myself Clothes fit amazingly good So I have NO idea what the result is and expect a gain.
I've lost three ounces! 😉 Definitely have permanently changed the way I eat. Still maintaining at Overweight and if anything....this little break has me MORE motivated than ever to resume my daily exercise. I'd love to get to and maintain a "Normal" weight this Fall. My eating habits were such a gradual change I can never go back I didn't use Noom, just listening to my own body cues.
An update on my progress.
I've lost a total of TEN pounds and can SAFELY SAY Obesity is now a sign post several miles behind me!! I am now FIRMLY Overweight in the 53rd Percentile for my age and height. After losing 8 pounds...I will be in the 50th percentile. This means HALF the women my age and height in North America will weigh less...half will weigh more.
In my daily life I eat what I want. The difference is I eat differently. Smaller portions. No junk. More vegetables. My current weakness is one baked good a day. A scone, a cinnamon bun, a cookie. I don't feel deprived and currently walk for exercise. My advice is to gradually change your habits thru meaningful eating, drink water and move daily. Just move....walking, yoga. Get that blood flowing thru your limbs!! It will happen. My next Mini Goal is to get to that 50th percentile. Probably January. Watch this space!!! One day....Overweight will be safely behind me. Obesity will be a very distant memory. And Normal Weight will be my new.....Normal! 😉18 -
Current mini goal... Onederland by Christmas! I've got 12 pounds to get there and I'm a TURTLE at losing so it will be close!12

I am 182cm (6 foot) and 74kg (163 pounds). The BMI recommendation is to maintain my weight. But my goal has always been 62kg (137 pounds). It is possible that I want to be slim but healthy weight because of my culture and ethnicity.
I reached 63kg, although technically not identical, but I consider I had reached the milestone. But we all know what happened.
Now I try to have the motivation to go again and aim for maintain the weight when I reach the goal this time.
I find that if I am goal-driven, after I reach my goal, the progress will get reversed. The trouble with backwards direction is that, it is very demotivating.
Instead I now have dieting in mind, and try to live my days normally. My mini goal would be a reduction in my weight when I stand on the scale next time (I weigh myself daily), however small the reduction is. But I try not to think about dieting and try to forget I have a (mini) goal.
I am just wondering, a) go small and slow but steady instead of b) drastic but progress reversal is a better option.
This time I certainly are less motivated.

My mini goal is to focus on habits and behavioural changes rather than weight loss. Eg) Walking 15 minutes, weighing/logging my food, cooking actual meals, etc.11

I'm starting to see my ab muscles after loosing 30lbs.
My motivation is to see all of them... lol9 -

I used to forget stuff all the time and then I started setting reminders on my phone. Also I have an Apple Watch which vibrates once every hour (I actually set it to vibrate on the full and half hours) and this has helped me be more aware of time passing during the day. I'm much less forgetful now.5 -

Check out the Ultimate Accountability Challenge, I think with those goals you would fit right in.1 -
Want to see the scale start with "17". Just 6lbs away and enjoying the journey!9

To make it to my next 10lb weight loss mark, 210lbs, by end of November. Currently at 218.2, so have 8.2 lbs to go!!!! Also thinking about how I will reward myself. ( For meeting my 220 goal I just treated myself to new waterproof walking shoes. I’m set now for walking on rainy fall days!)14

Get back on track!7

I've been thinking I'd like to ride a bike again. As a kid I remember being flabbergasted that none of the adults I knew ever rode a bike... now I'm one of those lame people myself Time to change that!
Also I want to finish every one of the water aerobics classes I accidentally signed up for Meant to sign up for 3 a week but accidentally ended up with 6 a week! Fortunately it's only through mid-November, so here we go haha10 -

I got our bikes tuned up this past summer just before we went away for 2 months RV'ing. Never even got on them once. Nowhere we parked had any biking areas that were easy enough for me to start out. All steep hills or on too busy of a highway. Our parks were very small so couldn't ride around as I'd get dizzy and fall off...lol Later in summer it was too hot and smoky. I'm determined to use them come spring. Good for you for signing up for the water classes. You knew you wanted to!!

I've been working on my weight since 2021. It took me from then until now to lose 26.5#. I am 5'3" and I now weigh 123.8#. I am 3.8# from the high side of my goal weight. I have taken it slow, logged calories even when I was ashamed of them, and it actually helped hold myself accountable. I look at the macronutrients, I look at my workout day, I plan, I pray, and sometimes, I just can't, but most days I'm so glad I did. My mini goal, that 120# mark by end of November. Take that holiday binging!17

Argh, I'm at my highest weight ever. My mini goal (or maybe a mini-mini goal) is to lose 6 pounds to get down to 175.10

@Red_B1rd Oh my gosh!! You are literally my history speaking!! Hugs! It's OK...you've got this! You can take steps now to stop yourself from heading into the 190s like I did. First of all....set a goal of 2 or 3 pounds a month. Anything more will just overwhelm you...three months will FLY BY! It always does. And if you lose it faster, you'll be SUPER proud! Drink up to half a gallon of water a day...not now. That's your goal. When you're comfortable with that...go up to a gallon. When you're ready A trick. I put my 750ml water bottle on three different areas of my kitchen counter. Its how I began counting...then added 3 more areas. When I finished my bottle, I'd refill and place it on the next spot. But work up to it.
Start cutting down on portions...just a bit. Listen to your triggers...I remember substituting grapes for crackers back in the day. Finally, if the weather is OK, take a 10 minute walk every day. Soon, you'll crave that walk! Take your MEASUREMENTS! It's just as important as weight...and measure areas like forearms, ankle and neck. You'll be surprised 😮. IF YOU LOSE TWO POUNDS A MONTH, IN ONE YEAR YOULL WEIGH 155 AND IN TWO YEARS WEIGH 130. But you MUST be a turtle at this game or like a Vegas Casino....you'll NEVER find the exit.6 -
@spirittrail : Aw, thanks for your wisdom! Especially about the water as I don't do very much of it--it's a bad habit that needs breaking. And one I'll be working on. the idea of leaving it in different spots in the kitchen. I was just thinking the other day about how weight loss is more a marathon than a sprint. Thanks again for your kind words. *hugs* Off to do my measurements!6

@Red_B1rd It takes a LOT of self awareness to realize you have taken a wrong turn and admit you should turn around....rather than keep going. You won't have to double back as far and as you retrace your steps, the ground will look more familiar NOW. So you can stop along the way and enjoy yourself more often......example....a reward every 5 pounds....without it feeling like forever.
I still remember the FIRST SEASON of the Biggest Loser! Two contestants....females....one in the 160s and one in the 170s.....were JUST as upset as future generation females weighing 200, 300 pounds. When it's alien to you...it hits hard. I can't remember how much weight they lost.....more their being upset....and sadly that weights have just kept climbing since then! Rather than encourage women....using those two as role models....that 2 pounds a month....even 15 pounds a year....was a safe realistic weight loss without drugs or personal trainers....their interest was encouraging people to gain for the show. Weight LOSS isn't big business Its weight GAIN!! 😲1 -
I started at 183 lbs on August 22 this year. I got my first goal of losing 10 lbs to take me down to 173 lbs. I’m working on my next goal is losing another 10 lbs to go down to 163 lbs. I’m now 166.6 lbs so have lost 7.2 lbs of my second target!!! Aiming to hit 20 lbs lost by the end of the month! Then will tackle the last 10 lbs for my end of year target weight!!!
So I’ve done it! I’ve lost 23 lbs in total now since mid august. I have another 7 lbs to go to hit my target of 30 lbs lost and get down to 153 lbs.
My ultimate goal is 149 for this year which I’m working towards.10 -

Way to go! I am also working at this in 10lb increments. Makes it so much more achievable! Keep it up-we’ll get there.. 🐢

Coming from a depresseion and starting at 116kg (41, 180cm) this summer I reached now 104kg with food tracking, constant deficit and daily workout. I started to play Volleyball, go 6 times a week to the gym (push, pull, legs) and I haven't felt that good in many years.
So I made myself a reward plan: As soon as I fall below 100 I go get to a decent store, let them measure my feet and buy good running shoes. I always loved to be out in the nature running 8-10km every morning and lost this over the last decade. The next steps will be 90kg where I will get myself a really nice leather jacket for next spring (I expect to hit 90 maybe in March) I finally want to feel well in my skin again and be able to go happily to the beach or even play beach volleyball without feeling the need to hide myself. I'm still collecting what I could reward myself with at certain milestones12 -
My first goal is 40 pounds down by June 2024 my friends wedding. My small goal is to walk every morning right now I am only going down the block. I think want to be able to jog that block.
I think I would like to become a jogger but I do not enjoy how things are flopping around right now. I really admire those I see on their daily jog and I would like that time for myself. I have 5 kids the baby is 16 next month and oldest is 31. I need to make the time for me now.

Tone up and get back in a bikini for my birthday next August, and to begin running w/ the goal of running in my first 5K by next spring.7
