OMG, look at this! For most of you this will not be fast. For me it's the fastest run in years. Still not fit enough to run more than 3km, and HR topped out at 188, but working on it. At least I'm running substantially faster, with less effort than in ages.8 -

I understand not checking here, but really love it when you are here.4 -
Went on my annual cemetery walk 🕯
My son and I just went to the small cemetery closest to home, and timed it so we got there just as it was getting dark. It's a small cemetery with lots of room to grow, so not the same effect that you have with the big crowded cemeteries here that look like they're on fire with all of the candles. It also wasn't cold enough this year to have the silence broken by glass candle-holders cracking, but it was was still peaceful. Families get together on this day and go pay respects to their departed relatives. We used headlamps for the walk home through the fields, so it was nice having to dig that out of the trail running supplies and use it.7 -
@Laurz9191 I am just going to leave it here because @tarun_yadavA has not found us yet that you really DO NOT want to know all the trash which runs thru my head when I am running. I like music because some of the 180 plus BPM temp really helps me to pick up the cadence and thus pace (short legs = need higher cadence to run faster). I can't really listen to audio books when I run but I definitely do when I am walking. not sure why. It's almost like I can't concentrate on the plot when running.
WOW! Polska that is an amazing tradition at the cemetary. 💖💖💖
Goal of 100
Got out and did a frosty 4.58 this morning. My polar chest strap hates the cold weather. I really think the 2 little snaps lose connection and it gives me HR in the 80's... yeah right. I might just give up on it and let my watch lie about my HR. Speaking of which as a reward for getting my 200 miles in I am going to a watch 9 and turning my old one in. For some reason it seems like after a few years they just do NOT hold the charge as much as they should anyway so good to get a refresh.

Aww, lovely! My local graveyard is now closed from 17:00. I really enjoyed running over it (there are historical areas where people don't come to remember) but now it's back to running through town. Oh well...3 -
@yirara you are doing great!
@polskagirl01 that sounds like a nice tradition.
Got 7 miles today. Basically same conditions as yesterday, although wind was much calmer. Same average HR, so overall effort the same, but pace was15-20 sec/mi faster. So gotta say it's the shoes. Endorphin Speed 2s today (older ones).
I am going to change my ticker to show the Run the Year 2023 total since I should hit it this month.

I look forward to reading about your journey @AlphaHowls .
Happy Belated Birthday @polskagirl01 . I hope you will continue to check in with us and let us know how you are doing. You have to let us know about your polar bear club experiences this winter. That sounds and looks like a great tradition and way to remember loved ones. I'm glad you and your son got in a nice walk too.
@Teresa502 Enjoy your trip to Aruba. I'll look forward to seeing pictures from your runs and adventures.
Nice run @Laurz9191 . Beautiful picture.
@martaindale Sounds like you had a good interval workout. It is hard to decide what to wear when the weather changes so drastically.
@yirara Congratulations on your improvements! You are doing great!
@SummerSkier Nice start to the month and that is a great way to reward yourself for 200 miles in Oct!
You are doing so well with your running @Scott6255 . Amazing mileage this year!

I am just now getting on and setting my goal for Nov. Since 90 miles seems to be a bit out of my reach, I'll stick with 80 mile total. That still pushes me to run more than I would otherwise on some days, and that is what I need. I'm not sure if I will continue to try to follow the HM plan or not. I just want to increase my long runs at least a couple of days to make sure that 10 miles is going to be doable for my race on 9 Dec.
1 Nov - Walked 2.00 miles - Ran 0.00 miles - treadmill
2.00/80 miles
I got called into work today, to cover for one of the teachers that was sick. So, plans changed and I only managed to get in a treadmill walk between work and church.

November Goal: 80 miles
11/1: 3 miles
Total: 3/80 miles completed
I didn't do much running in October. I was kinda dreading getting back into it, but it felt quite good to be moving again. It ended up being a very easy run, and I could have pushed a bit harder.8 -
November Goal: 130 Miles
11/1: 6.26 miles
6.26/130 miles completed for November
I am going to set my goal at 130 miles again this month. I might be able to get more, but between the weather and the holidays I think I will set a conservative goal. I started out the month with a very cold (32° F) 6.25 mile run. It was a pretty tough run. I was dressed ok, but it is always so hard to know how to dress for cold weather running. I wore my new shoes and they kind of rubbed my foot in an annoying way. Maybe it was my sock. I have been wearing the same style shoes for a long time. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. I think they are really pretty and I am going to be very disappointed if they hurt my feet.

Hello everyone! From a wet and cold London!
Got in 4.36M / 7K (10"01). Was up around 4am (09:30 India time)... then wasted about an hour plus tossing and turning trying to go back to sleep.
Got a jetlagged run in, in the end!
Anyways... Put me down for 130M for November.
PS: @Laurz9191 and @SummerSkier did I miss a bit of conversation somewhere?! Confused.
I run without music...
And I also think of mindless cr-p whilst running!
@Teresa502 enjoy Aruba!!! 😊6 -
Nice run @Zaxa2021 . The only run you regret is the one you don't do!
@kgirlhart Nice run. I hope your shoes do better tomorrow.
Glad you made it back home safely and had a great trip @tarun_yadavA ! Great early morning jet lagged run.1 -

@tarun_yadavA Welcome back! I hope you can ease back into your routine quickly! It sounds like it was an awesome trip!
@Teresa502 You asked me about the crops along my route. To be honest, the only crops I ever recognise are canola (kind of smelly and very yellow), corn, because - yeah it’s obvious, and sugar beets after they are harvested because they are put in a big pile. They also do a lot of grains, but I’m never really sure whether it’s wheat, barley or rye. I do always try to pick routes that are by fields/rivers/bike paths and not by car traffic. It makes for more mud and slugs, but I feel more at peace.
@chris_in_cal At the moment I am listening to the latest Outlander novel. It’s a very long one- over 24 hours - so it will take awhile. I usually pick a novel that’s at least 10 hours and do some research ahead of time to see if I will like it. Usually I do. It does always take some time to get into the plot of a new book though. Music is easier that way. If you listen to a standard playlist, you always know what you are getting.

This morning was quite dark, a bit rainy and VERY windy. I wasn’t that motivated, because I don’t enjoy wind that much (especially when part of the run is in the forest) and there was soooo much of it, but I did get 9.1km done. So far 20.2/200km for November. I know some of you usually run when it is dark, but I usually run in the mornings, so it’s a bit of an adjustment for me running in the mornings but without it actually being that light. It’s weird.6

November Goal: 130 Miles
11/1: 6.26 miles
11/2: 6.26 miles
12.52/130 miles completed for November
Todays run was so much better than yesterday's. I ran the same 6.25 mile route, but it was 42°F instead of 32°F which really made a big difference for me. I was dressed ok. I did wear long pants and probably would have been ok in capri length, but since it was dark and not sunny I wasn't too hot. I did not wear my new shoes though. When I put them on this morning I could feel the same rubbing over my big toe joint and I decided that if it bothered me that much walking around the house getting ready to run, it would be a problem running. So I wore my old shoes and my feet were comfortable. Maybe it is just a defective pair. I always wear the Saucony Rides and this is the 3rd pair of 15's I have had and I usually love them. Luckily my old pair is still ok for running. I enjoyed this run today. It didn't feel as hard as yesterday. Partly because it wasn't as cold and also my foot wasn't hurting. And I saw 3 deer at the park and that always makes me happy. I also noticed that the Halloween decorations are coming down and the Christmas decorations are starting to go up.

Great running @mnsmov15 !
@Laurz9191 Great job getting out there and doing what you did in those conditions. Wind and forests aren't really safe combinations, especially in the rain.
Nice running @kgirlhart . Sorry the shoes are hurting your toe. Can you send them back and get another pair to see if those just happened to be defective? I am not ready for Christmas decorations yet. I liked it so much better when Christmas season started AFTER Thanksgiving, not August!!!2 -
1 Nov - Walked 2.00 miles - Ran 0.00 miles - treadmill
2 Nov - Walked 1.30 miles - Ran 3.00 miles - treadmill - Short intervals
6.30/80 miles
I helped take blood pressures at a local middle school this morning. Why do 8th graders revert back to acting like kindergartners? When I got home, I did a short interval run on the treadmill. I ran 5/5 min at 4.2/4.5 mph, 8 x (1/2 min at 6.0/3.8 mph), 6:36 min at 4.2 mph. It felt easier than I expected it to. My avg HR was 134 with a max of 148 bpm. I walked a little extra for the cool down to make my workout last at least an hour.7 -
