Today’s gratitude: ibuprofen. After yesterday’s 12K+ steps, thought I’d be more sore this morning, but thankfully not.
Called Sears, got automated system that sent link to track part. Should be delivered Monday. Finger’s Xd.
Ginny would you share the name of the lotion?
Kylia I struggled for a while with calcium tablets that were too large, kept getting lodged in my throat. Then one time, soon as I swallowed it, it came right back up and out like a projectile. Decided that if my body was rejecting it so forcefully it wasn’t the right supplement for me
Lisa “…married the right guy” as did you! Believe me, Joe has grown into the right guy, ‘twas not always so… so I am most grateful.
Rita “national shopping day” well that explains a lot! Scored a quart of local raw honey, a coiled wire and bristle brush boot/mud scraper and 3 bags of fine bark mulch all on the ways to/from dog group. All things I’ve been looking for but not finding,
Laughingdakini1 so very sorry for your loss. Our pets take part of our hearts with them when they go. ((hugs))
Carol yup, I was surprised and touched. He HAS grown into being a very very good husband.
Rebecca the brownies as packing material, as will your eldest.

I struggled for a while with calcium tablets that were too large, kept getting lodged in my throat. Then one time I had it in my mouth for a bit while I worked myself up to swallow it ... and suddenly realised that it tasted all right, so I chewed it, and it was OK! Then I looked at the container and discovered that it said they were vanilla flavoured and chewable!!! I had used them for weeks without realising!!
But I used glucosamine for a while, and they were also big ... but unfortunately they weren't chewable. When I was using them, I cut them in half and swallowed them in 2 goes.

Tracey: 🥰 the cookie house
Heather: Nice bunch of ladies. Glad you had a good catchup with them.
Pg 282 -
Allie: That must have been such a shock. You’re a good neighbour and friend.
Lisa: You’ve certainly made good use of the pottery classes. Hope that the kiln is kind. I always loved the anticipation of what the pieces looked like after a glaze firing. I used a lot of reactive glazes, so that pieces were unique.
@laughingdakini1 Sorry about your cat. My daughter just lost hers a couple of weeks ago, so I know how you feel. They are part of our families.
Friday was so busy, with Latin Study Group before lunch and then card-making after. I’m trying to clear up a lot of old papers, so that took care of yesterday.
Today I’m chilling, and will visit DED after lunch. Also laundry to fold and put away. At least I am at home tomorrow morning so should get most of that out of the way.
We’re also working on our winter bulb planting.
Miele failte to our new ladies. Jump in when the spirit moves you. It’s a busy group.

Good morning ladies!
Annie in Delaware2 -
Lisa-my children put together lists for the kids (in consultation with them). The delay is usually the parents finding time! My oldest son usually reminds me that a donation to children's college fund is a present for him! Last year when at their house a few days before Christmas we found a 12 foot or so prelit Christmas tree on sale for most excellent price-that became their Christmas present.
Barara AHMOD- https://a.co/d/dkVpWgP is what I am using. I put it on with a glove because first time I used it I discovered it was tough to get off hands! It doesn't take a lot. I use it twice a day (am not going to bother at work).
Terri- I find your Latin study group to be very interesting. I took one year of Latin in school, then it wasn't offered. I have always liked the study of languages. I have wanted to learn to read classic Greek so I could read Aristotle and Plato in the original. Perhaps it is not too late to give up on that goal,
Swallowing pills has not typically been a problem for me. I literally swallow a handful of supplements at once. A pill cutter is a handy tool to keep on hand for solid pills.
Went to sleep early last night so got up very early. Will take short nap later if needed. Back to chipping away at list.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio

My father taught Koiné Greek (also known as Hellenistic and Biblical Greek), but when he was learning it, he taught it to my mother, brother and me. So I first learned it at about the age of 11 or 12. Then I took courses from him in my first degree. I think I took 2 or 3 semesters.
A few years later, I took 2 semesters of Latin.
I have lost a lot of it, but some of it comes back to me now and then.

This morning, we went to a meeting of our bee club. First time in a little while! It was a short get together this time, but we did find out that we may be getting a small swarm of bees later this week.
We think a small swarm has moved into one of our hives, so this new one would go into the other hive. But we will need to have a look at our hives to see what is actually going on!
Me and our hives ... from last season.
Machka in Oz
After the bees, a wave of energy encompassed me, and I cleaned the bathroom. Not only cleaned but organised and got rid of some stuff!! Stuff was building up and I wanted a more serene feeling in there.
Then I went outside with Rhody, and weeded some more.

Lisa: You have inspired me to do more for Christmas! I think I will get Christmas cards out!
Annie: I have ordered shoes on line. Sometimes when you want to return them, the shipping fee is high.
Ginada cat: Congrats on your weight loss! I have given up on shoes with tie laces!
RVRita: I am still learning how to live under my new budget. I finally made a detailed budget of fixed costs because I wanted to see how much extra income there actually is. Now every time I purchase something I deduct it from that figure in my head.
Barbie: I admire your weight loss and that you walk every morning!
Debbie: The fireplace is beautiful. Good luck with the blackberry bushes!
Michele: Great working in the soup kitchen.
Grandmallie: My sympathy on the loss of your friend.
Heather: Hope you have a great time or had a great time with your friends!
Annie: The lunch with the Bourbon shrimp and scallops sounds wonderful!
Sue: I hope your chest Ct reading is okay. Air fryers are pretty popular. I have never taken an interest in them as of yet.
Kylia: Good of you to go in the man cave!
Lanette: I need to get. back to using my weights!
Kylia: I love the Christmas cactus!
I still have the pups that I am fostering. The feedings at night are tiring me! They do love to be held and cuddled with and I enjoy doing this with them! I am cleaning the house for my son and DIL who will come Friday night before we head to the beach on Saturday. There is some chance of rain each day at the beach. I am bringing my calligraphy and art supplies and knitting for activities to do in the housel It will be good to have a change even if we stay in the house quite a bit.
Best,
Rosemarie from Georgia

Michele I think those calcium tablets are like horse pills too! I did learn if you keep your chin tucked down as you swallow that helps. Still I think they are too big!1

Morning ladies
Went to sleep early ,woke up at 5:30 but needed some extra rest so went back to sleep until around 8:45
Which I guess my bosy needed.
Will run down to the store at 11 to pick up the food.. i added a fruit and veggie tray..just small ones to pick on.
Miles woke up at 6 chatting away and then went back to sleep, and he is still sleeping 😳
He must have needed it too.

Good morning from the chilly but already sunny climes of the Arkansas River Valley...
Just under freezing this morning when I woke, so I guess fall is finally here. The pattern will be chilly mornings and reasonably warm days all week long if the weather critters have forecast correctly, so it's a great time for the work we're doing outside, at least in the afternoons anyway. I genuinely need to get out and do something physical today, and I will once it warms up about another 20 degrees!
Kylia - That Christmas cactus in bloom is just spectacular.
Machka - Got to love it when the energy comes back. Glad your bee situation is looking up, hope your swarm is quite successful. My sister decided she wanted to read the Bible in the original languages, so she learned Biblical Hebrew, a smattering of Aramaic and Biblical Greek. I respect those who can pick up another language. I have tried in the past to pick up Spanish, but so far without success.
Heather - Hope your visitors relax and enjoy themselves, and that you do too.
Rosemarie - Have fun at the beach! Are you taking the foster pups with you, or will they stay at the shelter while you're gone?
The potassium pills I'm taking are nearly as big around as my ring finger, and they do occasionally stick, but I've found that it has to do with the texture of the pill's coating. The ones that are slick go down just fine, but the ones like potassium that don't have that coating are most likely to stick. When I just can't get one to go down successfully, dipping it in honey makes all the difference.
Nice quiet morning. I'm going to try to make a New York-style cheesecake in the Instant Pot a little later. Got all the ingredients out coming to room temperature... should be interesting!
Hope it is or was a lovely, peaceful Sunday for all,
Lisa in AR

Good morning, ladies.
Machka, good you are getting more bees. Nice bee pic.
Another mild day here which is absolutely wonderful. Taking advantage of it by getting out for dog walks with Buddy and Lucy and they are loving it. Decided to trim Lucy's face a bit myself as I really don't want to take her to the groomer as cold days are approaching. She is so good. Trim job looks crooked for sure but now I can see her sweet face much better. I know I'll get better at trimming as time goes on. Ordered a set of scissors for dog grooming from amazon and should be here next week. Really didn't want to get in to dog grooming but I can see I need to at least keep her face trimmed during the winter. I brush her coat out daily and it seems to be keeping good.
Finished Christmas shopping and actually came up with ideas for some that are harder to buy for.....like my 26 year old grandson so pleased about that. Just waiting for 2 more gifts to come in the mail. Happy that chore is over with.
Joy

Joy I trim Teddy myself. He is half Maltese, and has a lot of hair! His nose and eyebrows get so he can't see. Right now his nose is way too short on one side - the pink shows through. But I'm the only one who cares. Next job is a nail trim.

God, I offer myself to Thee
To build with me
and to do with me as Thou wilt.
Relieve me of the bondage of self,
that I may better do Thy will.
Take away my difficulties,
that victory over them may bear witness
to those I would help of Thy Power,
Thy Love, and Thy Way of life.
May I do Thy will always!

I love Christmas Cacti (us?). I used to have a huge one when I lived in CT. There was an old fashioned bay window (I think that’s what you call it) with windows on 3 sides and a big shelf. It faced South and I had it covered with plants! The Christmas cactus was the center of attention. I miss that window!
I have a request for you all. I am thinking of things to put on my goal list for next year. I was thinking doing 12 different crafts/hobbies in the year. But I mean types of crafts, not the finished item itself. For instance, right now, I’ve been coloring, started a sketch book ( I can’t draw for beans so experimenting), I have a calligraphy set, and I just ordered an origami beginners kit from Amazon. So that would be 4, plus crocheting, knitting, sewing, aromatherapy, and candles. These are things I have on hand. Any suggestions so I can get up to 12? (These come up to 9. Only need 3 more! LOL).
My DH insists on grooming our Shi-Tzu, but I really think I am going to set up grooming appointments for her. He doesn’t do her nails or glands and cuts her too short in some places, and doesn’t brush her. I brush her but we need 2 people to groom her properly and even then, the feet don’t get done well, only the back gets done correctly. She is 11 and he is 70- neither have any patience any more. I think a groomer is in order, just don’t really want to spend the money, but it is necessary at this point. Right now the poor pup can’t see and her face hair is getting in her eyes irritating them.

And Today is: Pizza with everything (except anchovies) day! Pupusa, health, and pneumonia day. Plus a bunch more in spoiler.‘A pupusa is a thick griddle cake or flatbread from El Salvador and Honduras[1][2][3][4] made with cornmeal or rice flour, similar to the Colombian and Venezuelan arepa. In El Salvador, it has been declared the national dish and has a specific day to celebrate it. It is usually stuffed with one or more ingredients, which may include cheese (such as quesillo or cheese with loroco buds), chicharrón, squash, or refried beans. It is typically accompanied by curtido (a spicy fermented cabbage slaw) and tomato salsa, and is traditionally eaten by hand.’2

Anniesquats100 wrote: »Kylia I am with you on bare feet. Between my bunions and my crooked knee, nothing fits quite right. I have a pair of Brooks Ghost, really nice running shoes, but I kick my ankle when I wear them. There's a spot where I'm wearing through the upper. Just not quite right.
I realized this morning that I don't have black ankle boots anymore. I don't think I quite have the gumption to order shoes online. But I might look.

When I bought my running shoes, I went to a place that put me on a treadmill to analyse my gait, then talked to me about the various foot issues I have (arthritis, achilles).
I ended up with what I think are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn!!
I highly recommend going that route for running shoes.
But I do go barefoot a lot too ... or when I'm gardening in the summer, I'm in my Teva sandals ... these ...

I have the same style of Teva. I love how adjustable they are.
I also did the running store route for my first serious pair of running shoes. I loved my first pair and several after, but then they designer changed the footbed and I had to switch brands. . I haven't been as happy since.

Good early afternoon
Dan was able to take the work van and we dropped it off ar Evan and Amys house.. let my friend Sue know it was outside the door
Left a card for each of the kids..
They should be set for a bit,and a whole lot better than sending flowers
Now I'll get my garbage together and Dan will pick it up when he gets out of work.
Other than that a low key day3 -
Strange...I deleted my history on Windows 11 and when I logged back into MFP it was in French! LOL. Learned how to change it back to English.
Rosemarie ~ Enjoy your weekend at the beach. I know you must get tired of feeding the pups, but, the cuddles make up for it in the end.
Allie ~ Miles and his lawn mower are so cute!
What do you do when you give your partner choices for dinner and they just tell you it doesn't matter. This is a daily thing at my house. My DH would live on hot dogs, spaghetti, and hamburgers if he had the choice.

Rita -- I love pupusas. We had them in Belize, and since returning, we've discovered a Salvadoran restaurant which serves them. I'm sad to admit that I eat mine with a fork. The slaw is amazing.
Allie -- sorry about your friend. Is this the one you used to talk about when you first moved into your new place?
Machka -- hooray for your trip.
Kim -- still thinking about you and your mother situation.
Karen -- still thinking of you with the loss of your brother.
Take care everyone.

All went well with the DSIL and partner visit.
So nice of them to drive all that way after an afternoon's work.
Saturday evening we were all a bit tired, though the food went down well. We all slept well.
Sunday morning, we walked along the seafront to Fatto a Mano, and enjoyed ourselves having pizza. I chatted to DSIL all the way there and back. Total brisk walk, 3 miles. I could feel it, but I made it!
After they left I went upstairs for a nap and slept for 2 hours! Zonked out.
Now about to have yesterday's left overs for dinner.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx6 -
Michele - I would go on a local FB group and ask if anyone does decals. So many people do them here.
Allie - sorry for the loss of your friend.
I want to see that movie too. Sorry your friend fell.
Heather - you reminded me that I need to stock up on batteries for Christmas decorating.
I am barefoot almost constantly. Lately my foot is hurting a bit so I have been wearing slippers for some cushioning. I hate anything on my feet.
Barbara - What a sweet gesture from Joe with the chocolate.
Rebecca - Brownies as filler, that’s genius.
Lisa - you could always wrap it like a Kleenex box! Put a little hole at the top with some kleenex or white material coming out and write kleenex down on the corner.
Rosemarie - are you going to be taking the pups to the beach?
Rita - you could rug hook, make cards, use thrifted materials to upcycle into something new, paint.
Pizza day - sounds like a good idea for supper.
Carol - Switch spaghetti for pizza and my DH is the same.
I always ask what he feels like and get I don’t care, I don’t know. I then usually ask if he feels like chicken or beef, he rarely says pork and I don’t do fish.
I do breakfast for supper usually one night a week, that gives me bacon for BLT’s. I do tacos and save meat to have nacho’s later. I prefer meat and potato meals so like it or not he gets that once a week. Sometimes I just do something and don’t ask his opinion, he eats it or gets himself a snack later.
I only make one meal a day, the rest is fend for yourself.
I remember growing up my Mom and Grandmother would start trying to decide on supper early in the morning. I never understood what the big deal was. I think if I lived alone I would just snack never make a meal.
I was 8 pages behind! I had a long craft day Friday and Saturday.
Friday I made this “radio” for Kaitlyn. I ordered a Bluetooth speaker for it and gave it to her yesterday. She loved it.
Today I am going to decorate outside. It’s beautiful here and I much prefer decorating in this weather.

Happy Sunday ladies, what's left of it, lol.
I've been yanked down into the Broadchurch rabbit hole and I might be able to pull myself out in a couple hours.
I did take a break this morning and started reviewing some of the TILDA reports - results of longitudinal studies on the aging in Ireland. I love reading through all of this - I always loved writing term papers when I was in school because I got to comb through research.
A friend is stopping by in an hour so I need to get dishes done. And head back down that rabbit hole.
