Someone asked ?Lannette if walking was making a difference in me? Yes!!! I am more productive and much happier!
Kylia in Ohio with 7k so far
Kylia - I love this. I don't know if there's a "magic" number where the endorphins kick in - some say 7,000 steps, some say 10,000 or more. And maybe less. Whatever works for each of us is the magic number; we are individuals.
I know I was surprised how much better I feel just making myself walk for 10 minutes several times a day, generally racking up 8,000 to 12,000 total per day by the time I go out to tend the chickens or just walk in the house doing laundry, etc. etc.
Before the three 10 minute "stints", I was generally 4,000 to 6,000 steps per day.

Geesh busy afternoon
Had a nice lunch with Tracy.and then went to pick up Miles.. she got a call that she needed both sets of brakes done..to the tune of 719.00 and she about fainted..
Mom stepped in and took care of it.. you can't be driving a car without brakes especially driving my grandson around..
Dont worry ,I paid the credit cards mostly off
So it wont set me back to much.. and I'll pay it off by next month..
Im telling Sean and Jean no presents this year.1 -
Our first day of walking
10 -
Lisa: Gorgeous sunset!
Joy: We had a toy poodle and I purchased a strong razor to shave him. I did this but it never looked great. After a while, we just took him to the vets to be shaved. It was like having 2 dogs. One with a snout and one without!
RVRita: We had a Bay window growing up. I loved looking at the falling snow out that window!
Heather: 3 miles ...that is great! The pups have interfered with my walking. I am tired more and too tired to walk.
Lanette: I love to do research on the internet.
Hope: I am glad you got a walk in with Zoey.
Barbie: My husband was like your Dad. He would have preferred to have stayed home. But he went places because I wanted to go places. Now that I am older I want to leave town less. My goal is to leave town 3x a year.
Vicki: Wow! 150 to 175 cards! That is wonderful!
I am cleaning the house because my son and DIL are staying here Friday night. I am making good progress. A little bit each day and it should be in good shape! I have wreaths to put up on the windows. I don't know if I will accomplish this...this year or not. I still have my Fall decoration up.
Best,
Rosemarie from Georgia5 -
Tracey - I keep forgetting to say that I love the idea of making a giant Kleenex box to put Tyler's afghan in. Gramily always comes through with something odd... got to keep up that tradition.
Nothing new at the gastroenterologist, but I'm off the Rinvoq until February, and will discuss possibly starting Skyrizi with her at that time. We'll see. I'm just going to try to be good to myself, and have sense enough not to overexert or stress. Always easier said than done. The hard part is watching Corey work on building the sunroom and being unable to help. Not that he would let me anyway.
Spoke to the roofer this morning. He's the same one who replaced our house roof a while back. I called him to ask him what shingles we would need to match the house, and where we could find them. Also talked him into coming out on Thursday to give us a bid on the sunroom roof. Should be a few hours work for him, and we have all the materials needed except the shingles. Egg is inspecting the work Corey has done so far... The studs are up for all but one end wall, and he finally quit for the night after putting up another few roof joists. Egg approved the work, apparently.
Later, y'all,
Love from sunny Arkansas,

had a really great weekend with mom- the only thing I had planned for the weekend, pruning dad's blackberry plants(2 100ft rows) didn't even get looked at. That is ok.
Mom and I were up at 3:30 to go in and help at the food bank/food program at church. Lots of work but worth it- got back to the house and I made us lunch. She fell asleep and slept the whole afternoon and woke u as I was making dinner- It was our early Thanksgiving meal beings I won't be up there on Thanksgiving day. I made us salmon, jumbo shrimp, stuffed mushrooms, delicata squash and asparagus.
She really enjoyed it. After dinner she was up late baking a cake to take to the early Thanksgiving meal at the church yesterday. I only had 3 hrs sleep Friday night so I was exhausted. She was using the mixer at 10:30-11;00. I sleep on the couch(right next to the kitchen, no doors, just open doorways). I went in and joked that if the room mate wasn't there I would be asleep already. She said she knows. It is time for her to move out but she doesn't want to be the bad guy and tell her to leave. She also said this morning that it is better than being completely alone out there.
Sunday morning I dropped her off at church at 10 and went and visited with my aunt(dad's last sibling, out of 10) for a few hours. Got back to the church and helped with the prep work for the dinner at 3. We didn't get home until after 7:30. We were both very tired. Mom fell asleep soon after we got home.
She kept thanking me for coming up, telling me how much she loved have me there and how much she loved me.
It looks like I will be up there three times this coming month so that will be great- candy making the first weekend for at least 3, maybe 4 days. The second will be just for the day, a cousin will be in town and then Christmas.
Now need to catch up reading here-7 pages to read.
Class tonight

Today’s gratitude: Joe’s paying attention. He stopped at the book store on our way to have the dogs’ nails trimmed and said “come in here, there’s something I want you to see.” Imagine my amazement at the display of chocolates, including boxed See’s. He’d discovered this new offering while browsing the book store and kept it for a surprise. While I was drooling over the case, he was getting twitchy as there were a lot of people at the counter getting coffee and pastries. He walked around the corner, found another cashier who had a stack of boxes of See’s, this time containing a box of dark chocolate. I would have been happy with a few pieces, but he insisted on buying a whole pound box. After 39 years he’s figured out and remembered my preference for the dark chocolates. I am amazed and grateful… and so far have kept it limited to one almond cluster and one molasses chip ;}
Annie was thinking of you and your family when I read an AARP article about state resources. If you haven’t already checked this out, there may be some help here. https://aging.maryland.gov/Pages/maryland-access-point.aspx

Sees is the best- My favorite is the Nuts and Chews box- it is all good~!
I got some little hard candies from there in a gift bag at the dinner last night- they are like the lollie pops but little pieces. Just had a butter scotch one- really good. Perfect size- Need to check about buying some if they aren't too expensive, to add to my box of candies I make for former hubby- they all love See's but can only get it if they order online

found our back yard feral cat dead by the back door- DH said he hadn't been eating most of the weekend. He lived in our back yard for about 10 yrs we thing- a LONG time. Was injured as a kitten and lost an eye so we called him Jack(one eyed jack). I will pull all the cat beds that I put out around the back yard for him and wash them and put away all the food and water dishes. One less spot for the coons to be attracted to.

I've booked my full body skin (cancer) scan for mid December. That's the earliest I could get in.
Hopefully she doesn't find anything this time!

I usually send my brother's wife 'letterbox' flowers for her birthday later in the month. They are the ones in a box that fits through a British letterbox (on the door.) I texted her to check they were going to be home around that time as they often go away. She replied to say that they would be, but they are in Pompeii at the moment! Pompeii is high on my bucket list. We had a cruise to there cancelled because of covid. So I am envious! She sent me this photo of my beloved brother.
I've ordered the flowers and had a 15% off offer.
DSIL brought me flowers this weekend. So nice. For me, it's the perfect present.
My son asked DH (not me! ) if he would go to watch Edie run in the Brighton Schools cross-country tomorrow. It's a good few miles away, near the football ground and there is no parking for observers! I don't know what he will decide. Neither parent can go.
Bea pick up today. Weather unpredictable.

I've had 2 days back at work now.
- I started with 300 emails. And it would have been more except that I had cleaned up quite a few a couple times during my holiday.
- I am down to about 80 emails now and I've got them labelled with what I need to do with them. You all probably know this, but you can change the subject line in emails in Outlook. So I've added "Read --", "Watch --", "Listen --" etc. in front of all the emails.
- I've arranged a plethora of webinars and meetings.
- I've attended a 3-hour online workshop.
I've also been to my phone plan place to get my phone working again. We had purchased Canadian SIMs for while we were in Canada, so I missed a payment on my Australian SIM and had to recharge but was having all sorts of issues doing that. I've ended up with a plan that's $5/month cheaper with 15G more data.
I've been to the bank to get my bank card working again. It had a moment (a hiccup) because I was using it in Canada.
And I've booked a doctor's appointment.
Plus I've added a whole bunch of holiday photos to an album: https://www.flickr.com/photos/machka-bb/albums/72177720312524016

Today’s gratitude: oven part arrived, lab staff let us wait in the warm hallway ‘til they opened.
Terri congrats on DYD’s Bronze. Is that Pool Competition a swim or billiards?
Ginny choosing nice walks, getting home stuff done and resting vs work work this weekend, well done! As for the spendy cream, if it works, it’s well worth it!
Lanette Hooray for outdoor induced endorphins and ten minute stints. WTG!
Lisa hoping pausing the Rinvoq works well. Fingers Xd . the pics of resting Corey and Egg on the ladder!
Beth that casserole sounds like my “Lutheran Ladies’ grief casserole” and yes with the packaged stuffing mix it does have too many additives. Instead I make it with left over stuffing home made from scratch. The condensed soup IS salty but the dish reheats and holds well and is one casserole Joe will eat. ;}
Rebecca what a relief! I was imagining you standing at your pantry clearing food items
Rita Spumoni is a favorite, rarely found any more. I’ve never seen Rainbow spumoni
Allie $719? Wow! Tracy and Miles are lucky to have you to step in.
Pip gorgeous photos, thanks for sharing!
Rosemarie could your son and DIL help hang the wreaths? Perhaps a new tradition?
Debbie if the roommate were gone would you move in with your Mom so she wouldn’t be alone? Sorry for the loss of Jack.
Machka likewise hope all’s clear.
Heather Pompeii? I’d be envious too! Handsome brother appealing pic.
Christmas, the only cards I send are to the nephews with their checks. Joe and I usually exchange a little something, usually consumable. He’d be happy to be off the hook for even that. Goddaughter gets box of holiday goodies with a Chanukah card and check. Since it comes early this year I hope my oven gets fixed this week! Like Vicki I love the lights, especially as the days shorten. I also love the smell of Christmas trees so will get a live, fresh, small one for our tabletop. Best of all I love the memories of Mama (and the scents) I get when baking her almond crescents and holiday nut balls. And of course there’s KJ’s “adult” fudge . . .11/13: Move: 1 sets PT w/nuthin’, lihe dance class. Steps:8078
Fuel: sugar in vs mfp=-3 CI<CO net=206 vits=1
Live: Joe, readings, BP, fasting bloodwork, Advent devotional, Post Office, Bi-Mart, USBank, call TRowePrice about RMD letter, find notary. Wt:132.5

Terri-Indeed it is! I obviously have grand daughter on my mind with delivery expected Friday!
Pip-Lucy looks comfortable.
Debbie-sorry you lost feral cat. I know you treated him just like your others. It was good you gave him a home. I would also gather up all of the stuff to try to avoid attracting any other animals.
Allie-we all make decisions on how we will help our children. I have paid towards plumbing issues, new dishwasher, new flooring. I view it that I can see them using their inheritance while I am here. I wouldn't be able to leave a lot anyway. That's why I'm paying for hotel while Az kids are here an we are staying closer to YS so we can see them and baby easier.
I hae an early morning meeting to get to. Enjoy your day all!

Good Morning,
Heather: Enjoyed the picture of your brother.
Debbie: Sorry about finding your cat at the door.
Machka: Enjoyed the pictures and hope your cat scan goes well.
I am up at 6 am to feed the pups and to get ready to work at the rescue for a couple of hours. They have eaten and are playing nicely! It is up to me to get off this couch and get going!
Yes, I think if I am organized maybe my son and DIL could help with the wreaths. There won't be much time between when they get up and when we leave for the beach so I will have to be organized. I am not sure the upstairs windows open. I fear the painters may have painted them shut when they painted the house. I hate that!
Best,
Rosemarie from Georgia

Good morning!
I wish yesterday had been a more productive work day, but it wasn't. There is always today. My oldest granddaughter misunderstood something I sent her. I asked my DYD to please explain it to her. Sometimes I feel like I have to walk on eggshells around them. After massage I went to two groceries, put things away, got my last 1k steps in. My fitbit doesn't count when I push a cart. In bed later than wanted. But I believe I have everything for lasagna and cookies this weekend and everything for Thanksgiving dinner.
There are quite a few Christmas lights up around us already. They are pretty. I will be enlisting help of oldest daughter and her DH to put ours up this weekend. They won't go on until Thanksgiving night.
Saw a falling star this morning. It has been a long time since I have seen one.
Debbie In spite of lack of sleep, you almost always sound calmer after time with your mom.
Keep up the great work Ladies!
Time to walk,

Good morning ladies!
Debbie so sorry to hear about Jack. I know you will miss him.
I will buy groceries today, and visit Mom. I need to figure out the stove locks before she comes home Saturday.
Have a great day!
