I've booked my full body skin (cancer) scan for mid December. That's the earliest I could get in.
Hopefully she doesn't find anything this time!

I usually send my brother's wife 'letterbox' flowers for her birthday later in the month. They are the ones in a box that fits through a British letterbox (on the door.) I texted her to check they were going to be home around that time as they often go away. She replied to say that they would be, but they are in Pompeii at the moment! Pompeii is high on my bucket list. We had a cruise to there cancelled because of covid. So I am envious! She sent me this photo of my beloved brother.
I've ordered the flowers and had a 15% off offer.
DSIL brought me flowers this weekend. So nice. For me, it's the perfect present.
My son asked DH (not me! ) if he would go to watch Edie run in the Brighton Schools cross-country tomorrow. It's a good few miles away, near the football ground and there is no parking for observers! I don't know what he will decide. Neither parent can go.
Bea pick up today. Weather unpredictable.

Ginny: DYD is my youngest daughter 😂
I’m out to Craft at 10.15am. Shopping tomorrow morning, Latin on Friday.
Storm Debi seems to have passed over. It’s another bright morning. Hoping it will last more than a couple of hours 😝
Virtual (((hugs))) and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for those who need them.
🙋♀️ Miele failte to the newbies.

I've had 2 days back at work now.
- I started with 300 emails. And it would have been more except that I had cleaned up quite a few a couple times during my holiday.
- I am down to about 80 emails now and I've got them labelled with what I need to do with them. You all probably know this, but you can change the subject line in emails in Outlook. So I've added "Read --", "Watch --", "Listen --" etc. in front of all the emails.
- I've arranged a plethora of webinars and meetings.
- I've attended a 3-hour online workshop.
I've also been to my phone plan place to get my phone working again. We had purchased Canadian SIMs for while we were in Canada, so I missed a payment on my Australian SIM and had to recharge but was having all sorts of issues doing that. I've ended up with a plan that's $5/month cheaper with 15G more data.
I've been to the bank to get my bank card working again. It had a moment (a hiccup) because I was using it in Canada.
And I've booked a doctor's appointment.
Plus I've added a whole bunch of holiday photos to an album: https://www.flickr.com/photos/machka-bb/albums/72177720312524016

Today’s gratitude: oven part arrived, lab staff let us wait in the warm hallway ‘til they opened.
Terri congrats on DYD’s Bronze. Is that Pool Competition a swim or billiards?
Ginny choosing nice walks, getting home stuff done and resting vs work work this weekend, well done! As for the spendy cream, if it works, it’s well worth it!
Lanette Hooray for outdoor induced endorphins and ten minute stints. WTG!
Lisa hoping pausing the Rinvoq works well. Fingers Xd . the pics of resting Corey and Egg on the ladder!
Beth that casserole sounds like my “Lutheran Ladies’ grief casserole” and yes with the packaged stuffing mix it does have too many additives. Instead I make it with left over stuffing home made from scratch. The condensed soup IS salty but the dish reheats and holds well and is one casserole Joe will eat. ;}
Rebecca what a relief! I was imagining you standing at your pantry clearing food items
Rita Spumoni is a favorite, rarely found any more. I’ve never seen Rainbow spumoni
Allie $719? Wow! Tracy and Miles are lucky to have you to step in.
Pip gorgeous photos, thanks for sharing!
Rosemarie could your son and DIL help hang the wreaths? Perhaps a new tradition?
Debbie if the roommate were gone would you move in with your Mom so she wouldn’t be alone? Sorry for the loss of Jack.
Machka likewise hope all’s clear.
Heather Pompeii? I’d be envious too! Handsome brother appealing pic.
Christmas, the only cards I send are to the nephews with their checks. Joe and I usually exchange a little something, usually consumable. He’d be happy to be off the hook for even that. Goddaughter gets box of holiday goodies with a Chanukah card and check. Since it comes early this year I hope my oven gets fixed this week! Like Vicki I love the lights, especially as the days shorten. I also love the smell of Christmas trees so will get a live, fresh, small one for our tabletop. Best of all I love the memories of Mama (and the scents) I get when baking her almond crescents and holiday nut balls. Terri-Indeed it is! I obviously have grand daughter on my mind with delivery expected Friday!
Pip-Lucy looks comfortable.
Debbie-sorry you lost feral cat. I know you treated him just like your others. It was good you gave him a home. I would also gather up all of the stuff to try to avoid attracting any other animals.
Allie-we all make decisions on how we will help our children. I have paid towards plumbing issues, new dishwasher, new flooring. I view it that I can see them using their inheritance while I am here. I wouldn't be able to leave a lot anyway. That's why I'm paying for hotel while Az kids are here an we are staying closer to YS so we can see them and baby easier.
I hae an early morning meeting to get to. Enjoy your day all!
Ginny in Ohio7 -
Good Morning,
Heather: Enjoyed the picture of your brother.
Debbie: Sorry about finding your cat at the door.
Machka: Enjoyed the pictures and hope your cat scan goes well.
I am up at 6 am to feed the pups and to get ready to work at the rescue for a couple of hours. They have eaten and are playing nicely! It is up to me to get off this couch and get going!
Yes, I think if I am organized maybe my son and DIL could help with the wreaths. There won't be much time between when they get up and when we leave for the beach so I will have to be organized. I am not sure the upstairs windows open. I fear the painters may have painted them shut when they painted the house. I hate that!
Best,
Rosemarie from Georgia

Good morning!
I wish yesterday had been a more productive work day, but it wasn't. There is always today. My oldest granddaughter misunderstood something I sent her. I asked my DYD to please explain it to her. Sometimes I feel like I have to walk on eggshells around them. After massage I went to two groceries, put things away, got my last 1k steps in. My fitbit doesn't count when I push a cart. In bed later than wanted. But I believe I have everything for lasagna and cookies this weekend and everything for Thanksgiving dinner.
There are quite a few Christmas lights up around us already. They are pretty. I will be enlisting help of oldest daughter and her DH to put ours up this weekend. They won't go on until Thanksgiving night.
Saw a falling star this morning. It has been a long time since I have seen one.
Debbie In spite of lack of sleep, you almost always sound calmer after time with your mom.
Keep up the great work Ladies!

Debbie so sorry to hear about Jack. I know you will miss him.
I will buy groceries today, and visit Mom. I need to figure out the stove locks before she comes home Saturday.
Have a great day!

Ladies, here is another survey question - what is your favorite sweater like? Zip or button or pullover, hoodie or v neck, cotton or wool or synthetic? Solid or pattern?
I'm thinking of choosing one for my birthday, and there are just too many choices!
Annie in Delaware1 -
DH was stewing pears yesterday, and forgot to put the timer on. I smelt burning, like toffee. The saucepan was completely charred. Soaking it in various substances didn't work, so, this morning I looked it up on YouTube.
It came down to a choice of boiling it in baking soda or in bleach. I thought the fumes from even diluted bleach would be noxious, so I boiled it for around 15 minutes in bicarb. It worked like magic! Good feeling!
Storm easing off a bit, but still wet. Hoping to be a bit dryer by the time we set off.

This is the sweater I knit for myself years ago. I like long sleeve, pull over, bright color.

Barbie- fabulous sweater..my mom knit me alot of sweaters
I feel that what I pay for them now is part of there inheritance
And if I die tomorrow there is enough to pay things off including the mortgage, my cremation is paid for and I keep up with my bills.2 -

Good morning ladies!
Barbie - what a beautiful sweater. Great job on the cables. The model is a cutie too!
Annie - Are you looking for something comfortable you can wear in the house or something a little more dressy when you're going out and it's not cold enough to wear a coat? I've been shopping for a fleecy type sweater/jacket, maybe sherpa, with buttons and pockets which a lot of folks around here wear for going shopping or visiting. Kind of LLBean type fashion. I'm hard on zippers and snaps sometimes tear out. My local farm store has jackets that might work. Good luck!
Heading out in a few minutes, taking Rosie to the groomer. Early this morning I went thru DH's side of the closet and made a pile of gently worn vests and sweatshirts I'll drop off in their their "FREE" box. Still more to take, but it's a start.
Have a great day!

1. Make a list of new things you want to do this month. 1. Start Christmas shopping, 2. Work on my happiness, 3. Walk the mall at least once. 4. Read a new book
2. Respond to a difficult situation in a different way. I will see what comes up, but the daily readings I do have helped a lot already! Did this!
3. Get outside and observe the changes in nature around you..Supposed to be in the low 80’s (f) here today and the week to come so will have plenty of time to do this. Didn’t do this today, sick.
4. Sign up to join a new course, activity, or online community. I’ll have to look around for this. Thinking about something to do with MCC. I joined 2 new groups on FB.
5. Change your normal routine today and notice how you feel. Will do!
6. Try out a new way of being physically active. I will have to think about this. Maybe do a YouTube video. Did not do this.
7. Be creative. Cook, draw, write, paint, make or inspire. I will Zendoodle. I tried out my DH’s suggestion for mirror letters.
8. Plan a new idea or activity you want to try out this year. I have a water color set. I will experiment with that.
9. When you feel you can’t do something, add the word ‘yet’. I need to remember this.
10. Be curious, learn about a new topic or an inspiring idea. I learned about Alonon and downloaded their app and read through it.
11. Choose a different route and see what you notice on the way. I did this on my walk today.
13. Do something playful outdoors - walk, run, explore, relax. Took a walk.
14. Find a new way to help or support a cause you care about. Have to think about this.15. Build on new ideas by thinking “yes, and what if…”
16. Look at life at someone else’s eyes and see their perspective.
17. Try a new way to practice self-care and be kind to yourself.
18. Connect with someone from a different generation.

God, I offer myself to Thee
To build with me
and to do with me as Thou wilt.
Relieve me of the bondage of self,
that I may better do Thy will.
Take away my difficulties,
that victory over them may bear witness
to those I would help of Thy Power,
Thy Love, and Thy Way of life.
May I do Thy will always!

Lisa ~ I was wondering! Will you have a door into the house from your sunroom? Egg looks quite at ease up on that ladder.
Rosemarie ~ Enjoy your beach weekend and don't worry about the wreaths. We all have to let go of some traditions as we get older. My mom left her Christmas tree up all year as she got older. I am using the same wreaths on the outside of my front door that were made by my mother-in-law so they are probably 30 yrs old.
Heather ~ Your brother is a handsome man just as you are a lovely lady! Must be good genes!
Pip ~ Lucy looks very comfortable on the bed.
Vicki ~ So glad your new system is making work a bit easier. Being boxed in with repairs is probably very aggravating.
Debbie ~ Really wish your mom had the courage to evict her housemate. But, I can see why having someone there makes it less lonely although from what you say, the housemate is not much company.
I don't send Christmas cards but I may be sending some ecards to family and a few friends.
Know that so many of you are raking leaves, but, I wanted all the maple leaves to stay on the ground in my backyard as there is really no grass underneath (just bare dirt for the most part). I asked my lawn guy to tell his people not to mulch the leaves and they did anyway this morning. Now I get to look at what to me is an ugly mess.

When my sister was 5 or 6, my grandfather put a box of Vienna sausages in a small box, then put that box in a box, put that in a box, etc. until he had about 8 boxes inside boxes. That was one of her gifts. He was silly. I loved it. I miss him dearly.
Debbie-I know you would prefer your mom not have the roommate, but it's probably better for her to have the company. Sorry about Jack too.
Annie-I like hoodies. I have many, but the ones I prefer most are the very lightweight ones...t-shirt material. They are great for the climate here. I have thicker ones for when I visit areas that have cooler temps. I also like full-zips because it's easier to put on and take off, which I seem to do constantly. I suppose I could do without the hood, but I do use it sometimes to keep the wind or sun off my head.
But, they are not dressy at all, so if you're looking for multi-function, hoodies probably aren't the right choice.
Finally, I am at a point of some relaxation. No guests are here and none are coming in the foreseeable future. The mister is sick...thinks it's a sinus infection, but still won't go to the doc. Just prefers to complain about it, as if the more he does, the faster it'll heal.
I'm planning a road trip. Hopefully, I will get to take it. I love them and find them relaxing.

Thank you ladies for the craft suggestions! These are the 12 I choose: 1. Do 12 different crafts this year: color, draw, sew, crochet, knit, bead jewelry, candles, make cards, origami, scrapbook, macrame, loop looms. I picked the number 12 as I want to do at least 1 different one every month next year instead of the same ones all the time. Thanks again!
Egg looks light she is doing the geometry to jump on the roof! LOL. I had a German Shephard that claimed a ladder up a tree right behind my X-DH! I had to coax the dog down so my DH could get down. Funny what animals will do. I think they sometimes do things on purpose to make us laugh!

Also I separate my food from husbands, mine being in a whole other cabinet. Its nice to not have to look thru his to find my stuff. And I am sure he feels the same about mine.

This is my version of a blueprint so we can keep track of what we want to do with the house. I've lit the sunroom up in yellow. It's not exact, but it shows what we plan to do with the sunroom and combining the back bedrooms.

I am sure eventually I will move in there full time but to start with it would be just part time.
With the room mate gone, more people would go visit her too. No one feels comfortable staying very long to visit mom with the room mate there. When I am there, she either leaves the house for most of the day or she stays in her room with the door closed. She does that most of the time when I am not there too but she is a little company to my mom.

Now that I have lowered my expectations of how the weekends will go, it has been a lot better.
This weekend was not a productive one in the way I expected but I am totally ok with it. There are still a few months before the blackberries have to be pruned and tied.
Having the one on one time with mom, even though we didn't have a lot of time when she was awake, it was really good time and it was nice to hear that she really appreciates everything I do for her.
