Regarding sweaters = pullovers for wearing inside ...
I am planning to get rid of most of mine. I have stacks I brought from Canada and a few I got here and I haven't touched them in years. They are all there, staring at me when I open my closet, but an ice age would have to move in and drop the average winter temp by 50 degrees Celsius before I would consider them.
My husband has suggested keeping them in case I feel cold one day but by the time that happens, "they" will have designed a whole new fabric and invented new colours!
I am beginning to think I will never feel cool again. I have felt hot and my skin has been sensitive for almost 8 years.
So in the winter, on really cool days here, I move into a cotton top with elbow length sleeves or longish short sleeves. And bring a light cardigan just in case.
I can't even wear my long sleeve cotton tops (pullover or button up) because Eve they are too hot. But I will keep them for now.

Today’s gratitude: free notary public at the county library.
Had to be out of the house early Monday (bloodwork) and Tuesday (casserole-a-thon) meant only 1 set PT each day. Likely same tomorrow (dogs for nail trims, then to county library for public notary). ;{ Oh well, one set is way better than none.
Rebecca your Chief is lucky to get a whole cabinet to himself. Joe only gets one of the pantry shelves
Welcome @Leezy55 Leezy in the SF Bay Area. Have many happy memories of my decades living in the East Bay and working in the City.
Debbie prioritizing one on one time with your mom over getting things done (blackberries, candy making, whatever) makes sense to me. ((hugs)) So glad you have her as the antidote to your MIL.
Terri Mama used to drive me around after Christmas Eve services to look at the Christmas lights. One year as we stopped near the park, we saw a herd of deer grazing on the green. I could almost imagine them being reindeer, taking a break from pulling Santa’s sleigh.
Michele, I’d text Lynette that I was dropping off some food but couldn’t come in. To me a casserole is just a big warm hug. Glad you’re getting to see TSO again this year and back to the Y for water aerobics. Good luck at the MD.
Kim thanks for the BBQ turkey suggestion. Bet yours come out with a great smoke flavor. Well done on the planning and layering. I’m with you about multi-tasking. IMHO it was a marketing ploy by M$oft as “time slice” didn’t have the same ring. . .
Sweaters. Most days I wear a cotton turtleneck in the house, covered with a plaid flannel hoodie when I go out. Opposite Machka, I’m almost always c c cold, and even wear gloves inside at line dancing. The hall doors are kept open and fans are set up for those who warm up quickly, alas, not me!
Barbie your sweater!11/14: Move: 1 set PT w/x&a, Jeopardy walking. Steps:7966
Fuel: sugar in vs mfp=-6 CI<CO net=438 vits=1
Live: Joe, readings, BP, ptT, ptS, casserole-a-thon, groom Tumble. Wt:132.7
Time to snooze,
Later, lighter, lovelies!

November: Move more: chair yoga, line dance, dailyish PT, play with dogs.
Fuel better: less sugar, CI<CO, dailyish vitamins.
Live NOW: dailyish time with Joe, readings, start meditating. Open heart and mind before mouth.
2023: Be of good cheer.

I find myself longing to feel cool or even cold. I used to feel cool and cold. I used to feel really cold sometimes. But not for a long time.
I'm just comfortable right now in a very short-sleeved cotton T-shirt and knee-length pyjamas. The house is about 17C (63F), this evening. About an hour ago, I was debating about turning on the air conditioning because it was about 19C (66F) and too hot.
Anything over 18C is too hot, unless I'm outside where there's enough of a breeze to keep me cool.

Sweaters - I can't wear anything with any wool in it. Our house is fairly warm, though we don't have the heating on all day. I wear a long camisole top in a bright colour, with a thin acrylic sweater over the top in a toning colour. This is my 'uniform' for much of the year. With black leggings. Indoors, I wear a long, black, acrylic cardigan on top, I have a couple, and one thicker grey one for very cold weather, and, outside, I wear a black, down, padded long jacket. I keep a very minimal wardrobe.
I don't possess a thick sweater, or sweatshirt, or hoodie. I prefer layers. My feet are my coldest part. I have furry slipper boots for the winter. I can't wear turtle necks, or even high crews, there has to be a bit of a gap below my neck. I only wear a silk scarf when it's freezing. Hate things around my neck.
I'm thinking of buying a new thin acrylic sweater and throwing one out. One in, one out.
I did my Waitrose order today and put in a turkey crown and pigs in blankets (for Christmas). If it's just us, we don't normally do Christmas Dinner, but this year I just fancied it. I asked John if he would cook it, and he said yes. Hooray! I have lost interest in cooking at the moment.
We will have our usual lunch of blinis and faux caviar, with iberico ham. In fact, we will have that next Monday for our 19th wedding anniversary! John is cooking in the evening, one of his signature dishes. Probably fish pie, or Lancashire hotpot.
He will be off at 12.30, in the taxi, to watch Edie run the cross country for her school. I will make him a ciabatta sandwich for 12 o'clock. Gorgeous weather, but chilly.
She told us yesterday, that she is planning to be one of the intrepid swimmers on Christmas Day on the beach. We always go down there to meet the family, the other grandparents, and watch the fun, in our Santa hats. She said that mummy said she was not to go in if the sea was rough.
Love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxxx4 -
Good Wednesday,
Sweaters- I have a longish lightweight no fastener cardigan that I wear year round as needed. It is always in the vehicle with me. I love oversize hoodies for at home. I like soft with shape otherwise. I have 3 turtleneck ones that I love that should be replaced but haven't found any to replace them. I am almost always cold, yet hate the feeling of too many clothes.
Lanette Cabelas or Bass pro for those. I just bought a couple more.
Yesterday was a more productive work day in spite of my sister in law leaving at 11 to run around! Rrrrrrr! I had planned on working on Christmas cards last night, but after cooking dinner and clean up, I read until bedtime.
Being an empath and insecure sucks so many times. 😪
DH was in a mood yesterday afternoon. I know it is because he is bored, but not my problem! He also is upset that DYD and family aren't coming for Thanksgiving. He thinks it is because of them being behind on house payments. They really need to get the house out from under us. That would definitely eliminate a lot of stress. I have told them that. I may need to assist more to get that to happen.
Anyway, I am thankful for all of you! You help guide me in my life.
Time to get walking,
❤️

Machka – sounds like you did a great planning job of your vacation, and that it worked for DH, did he enjoy traveling again?
Love ya all,
Kim in N. California
Yes, he did.
But he found it overwhelming at times. I had to make sure to incorporate breaks for naps, and even one day where we didn't get out of pjs and just hung out at the place we rented.
Although part of me wanted to spend time each evening with my parents, I also realised that when we're home, we rarely go out in the evenings. So on the days when we went there for dinner, we usually made a point of going back to "our place" by 7:30 pm.
When we were actually on the move, through airports, etc., we tried out the hidden disabilities sunflower card and in most instances, it seemed to work. It was subtle, but often when airport staff were rushing people through, they'd suddenly slow down and encourage us to take our time. Several times, airport staff came over and asked us if we needed help with something, like when we were trying to check in at a kiosk in New Zealand.
https://hdsunflower.com/au/
What is the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower?
The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is a simple tool for you to voluntarily share that you have a disability or condition that may not be immediately apparent – and that you may need a helping hand, understanding, or more time in shops, at work, on transport, or in public spaces.
https://hdsunflower.com/au/insights/post/airports-around-the-world
From Gatwick Airport in 2016 to over 230 airports in over 30 countries, and 15 airlines worldwide
It’s a misconception that people living with a disability don’t want to, or can't travel. They do and they can. Globally one billion people live with some sort of disability and while some experience a disability that is visible, for many it is not visible.
Our aim is a world where people with hidden disabilities are confident to travel independently knowing that they will receive the support that they may need at every stage of their journey. From the terminal to boarding the flight, on the flight and arriving at their destination!
https://www.airnewzealand.com.au/hidden-disabilities-sunflower
Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyard
If you or someone you're travelling with has a hidden disability, you can wear a Hidden Disability lanyard which indicates to our staff that you may like some extra assistance or care.
We understand that living with a hidden disability, such as autism, anxiety, vision or hearing impairments, chronic pain or dementia, can make travel more challenging.
The Hidden Disabilities sunflower scheme is an international approach which is recognised by Air New Zealand staff and a growing number of airports, tourism attractions and accommodation providers.
If you're travelling with a disability that is not immediately obvious, you may wish to wear a sunflower lanyard, pin or bracelet to discreetly signal to our crew that you may need additional understanding, time and support. Our staff are trained in how to approach, support and guide you through your journey.
The lanyards, which are bright green in colour and decorated with an easily recognisable sunflower design, are entirely voluntary and indicate to staff that a passenger may:
- Need more time to process information or more time to prepare themselves at check-in, boarding or disembarking
- Need clearer verbal instructions, as it can be difficult to understand facial expressions and/or body language
- Need help reading departure boards or signs
- Always need to stay with family or friends
- Benefit from more information on what to expect before, during and after their flight

Machka That would have been helpful when flying with my DH. One eye is obviously blind but the other is not seeable as it is optic nerve damage. I have never heard of such a thing. Thank you for sharing. It seems like people kept trying to separate us when we went to the Dominican.
I will tuck this info away in case I need it in the future.
Falling star yesterday and 3 deer in backyard this morning! Reminders to slow down and pay attention.
No walking yet, but bed linens changed, laundry started, breakfast and lunch packed and logged, dishwasher emptied, and showered. Will have to walk tonight.

Barbie, what a beautiful sweater I love the color.
I wear mostly cotton hoodies. I like the over the head best. In the winter I wear the lighter weight hoodies under my coat and other seasons wear them instead of a jacket.

Good morning ladies!
Barbie that's a gorgeous sweater! Beautiful. Love the bold color.
Allie I like yours too!
More thoughts on sweaters: I like the look of a chunky oversized sweater on thin people in catalogs, but that's not me. And I don't like anything that shows my lumps. I like sweatshirts for around the house, and they are certainly
easier to wash. I prefer the open neck style.
I opened some storage boxes and found some old sweaters and several sweatshirts I could wear. The other thought is that when Mom comes home, she will want the house warm again. So it would mainly be for going out to lunch.
Meanwhile I found some little black boots that will be very practical. And a hammered silver bracelet. There's always something!
My dad lost a whole book of checks last night. I had to call the bank and stop payment on them. I was rather upset that these things keep happening. He is so sloppy.
Have a great day ladies!

Yes, that was another thing ... several times we could have been separated (different nationalities, etc.) but they made sure we stayed together.
Lots of airports, airlines and other places are acknowledging the hidden disability sunflower program now.

Good morning from the breaking dawn of another sunny Arkansas River Valley day...
Regarding sweaters - I seldom last more than a few minutes before I get too hot in a sweater of any type. I wear layers if need be, usually a light t-shirt and an overshirt, like Lynette's "shacket," and even picked up one of those without a lining at Sam's Club last month. I guess the one without a lining is probably just a "shirt." If need be, I throw a jacket on over that in the coldest weather. Like Heather, I can't bear anything around my neck, I won't even wear a necklace. Shirts must be v-necked or a very loose round neckline.
Kim - I like that you're finding creativity within the cooking process. You have a gift for throwing yourself into something like that completely to get everything useful for you and your life out of whatever you're doing. It's fun to watch how your mind works.
Allie - All the pictures of Miles are cute, but those were just charming...
Dishwasher and clothes washer are both going, as well as the heat on, so my soundscape is filled with white noise this morning... Hopefully, I'll be a little more productive at something today. Yesterday was purely useless. I just worked on Tyler's afghan and watched Netflix. Made cornbread in the afternoon, so didn't eat any dinner at all after eating a bit of cornbread--you have to try it out, you know. Corey made chili cheese fries for himself to use up the last of the leftover chili.
Another hour or so and he will call to say good morning. I didn't tell him yesterday, but I was getting over a self-treated yeast infection. I picked up an over-the-counter single-dose treatment, and it seems to have been effective overnight Monday night, but I was still not feeling too well yesterday. Woke up feeling much better this morning. I did use the OTC test for a urinary tract infection, and it showed I didn't have one. If I had, I would have gotten in touch with my primary doc. I will admit, I used all three tests in the UTI package, just to confirm that I didn't have it.
I did get a text from my erstwhile pottery instructor to let me know that my pieces were being fired. I'll need to go pick those up tomorrow or Friday, most likely. I'll have to use one of the small ones as a spoon rest, as I dropped and broke mine yesterday pulling it out of the dishwasher. Might be the only useful piece in the bunch! I have very, very few tchotchkes in my house, and find it funny that something I'm fascinated with making seems to be mainly oriented around making tchotchkes!
Ah well, maybe it's just a reaction to making afghans and quilts my whole life, and of course, those are supremely useful. Freud would have a field day with my twisty little psyche, I'm sure.
One thing where I do feel like an absolute idiot:--Monday, I picked up a tube of Capsaizin to help my hands, which ache so badly in the mornings these winter days. It's the cream that is made from the heat-producing chemical from hot peppers.
So... I did not know how much I touched my face and rubbed my eyes until I used that cream. By the time I scrubbed it off my hands, there wasn't one single square inch of my face that wasn't burning and stinging, especially my eyes. And don't forget, I'm still going to the bathroom more than a dozen times a day, as well. I'll leave the result of that to your imagination. The bad part is, it actually was quite helpful for the pain in my hands! 🙃
Sometimes I'm not so bright... *sigh*😀
Love y'all,
Later,

Lisa - I was thinking the trays could be used for grouping similar things together. That can look more visually tidy. And a vase is always useful.
I managed to clean off an extremely stubborn burnt patch on my enamel oven tray today by boiling it with baking soda. Also a big burner ring.
John home from cheering on Edie. The journey there was a nightmare and he only just made it!!! Her group was around 80 girls and she had never done cross-country before. Running is not her favourite sport. She was one of the smaller girls. Tough course with hills. She came 15th, which is amazing. Her determination is incredible.
Will sort out a few photos.

God, I offer myself to Thee
To build with me
and to do with me as Thou wilt.
Relieve me of the bondage of self,
that I may better do Thy will.
Take away my difficulties,

to those I would help of Thy Power,

Rita, I am listening to a podcast about dementia and Alzheimer's and heard that the research is showing that learning new things along with good sleep, eating, and exercising is the way to stave off dementia and Alzheimer's. Your plan to do a new craft each month sounds like a perfect way to do that.
