Yay! A year long challenge! I need this to stay engaged and accountable. I like the weekly check in and the year long plan to be able to set realistic goals. I am a 58 year old NP with a pretty crazy work schedule. I work 24 hour shifts, so you can imagine I can be up and trying to manage eating schedules at all weird hours of the day and night.
Goals for 2024: log food daily, weigh in daily as possible, get to the gym at least 2-3 times a week and drink more water instead of diet soda!
I am going on vacation at the end of Jan-early Feb so I want to at least get a head start and start walking more comfortably. I injured my knee last month and am still working that out.
Looking forward to watching everyone's progress!

Needing some accountability so here I am! 42F/5.5"/149 lbs.
My lowest weight was 136.6 in July and my first goal is to get back to that weight.
Ultimate goal is 130 lbs.
I don't have the healthiest relationship with food and get obsessed over what I eat and tracking makes it worse so I've decided to be kinder to myself by just eating more mindfully and getting in some form of daily exersise. I've also been doing IF (18:6) and it's really helping with some of the "food noise".
I would like to weigh in weekly (Fridays) with everyone to keep track of results.

Good morning!
I hope its not too late to join you guys. Today is my day one. I had a steroid epidural scheduled for January 2nd & yesterday was a lazy day after that. Of course I woke up today congested with what feels like the start of a sinus infection, but I'm not going to let that slow me down. I went grocery shopping & have a stocked freezer & fridge full of food.
I know a lot of what I'll be eating is convenience food, but whatever, it is what works for me right now. Once I start getting those healthy habits back I'll start getting back into the kitchen more. Until then, I'll take the quick & easy, heat & eat.
Overall I'd like to see a 5 pound loss in January, but I know that's asking a lot for 4 weeks, so we'll see what happens.

I am from Argyll in Scotland. Only recently moved here for a better quality of life which I am yet to take advantage of.
I put on a lot of weight during lockdown and it hasn’t come off. In fact it keeps increasing. I am at my all time highest weight and want to lose at least 2st (14lb / 6.3kg). I am 5’6’’ and weigh 12st 3lb (171lb / 77.6kg). My scales tell me that I am 3st (42lb / 14kg) over weight but I think that might be going too far. The scales also tell me that my metabolic age is 64 (I am 57) so keen to reduce that.
I used to be quite active but during the last 6 months with a house move, change of job and injury have provided easy excuses. I also need to cut back on my drinking. I love a glass of wine a bit too much.
My goals are:
Maintain a dry January
Aim for 2lb a week weight loss
Minimum 30 minutes a day exercise (at least 1 hour cardio and 2x weekly yoga/pilates)
1 x open water swim/dip5 -

Hi everyone, it's supposed to be summer here in Melbourne, Australia but instead we're having torrential rain - at least its warm!
I'm a 44 year old Mum of two beautiful girls, and finished treatment for breast cancer 6 months ago. I have one final reconstructive surgery next week but I'm tired of this 10kg I've found through motherhood and cancer treatment. My goal is 60kg (132 pounds) and today I weigh 70kg (154 pounds) and I've given myself til this time next year to do it. I read that regular check-ins with other people are associated with long term weight loss so here I am!
My plan:
Regular strength training (well, six weeks after surgery, but until then regular planned walks).
Mediterranean diet with a focus on high quality protein (fish, eggs, tofu etc) but not restrictive
Weekly weigh in and weekly post to this thread (I'm setting a reminder in my phone) whether I've done well or haven't.
My goals:
Weight loss for equal parts health and vanity reasons
Increased muscle strength for heart and brain health and so I can play with my kids more
Improved mood
Improved energy levels
Good luck everyone 💖7 -
Morning, it's been a good week. No snacking in between meals has been a big thing for me. Plus, portion control has been so much better. Drinking plenty of water. Making sure I have a good breakfast before swimming makes a huge difference.

🏋🏻♀️ Strength train 2x per week ❌ (I went once this week)
🧥 New wardrobe by August 🤞

Hi, I'm Viva.
I'd like to join this challenge to help me stay on track the whole year. Consistency is something I struggle with and I allow my mental state to get in the way of the things I know are good for me or have helped me before.
For my whole life, I maintained a stable weight without effort, but the past 5-6 years have been different and it has been a struggle. Too many changes in my life all at once. And I gained 12 kgs I am struggling to lose and maintain. Quick loss- Quick gain. I'm still learning what works and what doesn't but I know that nothing good or permanent comes easy. There aren't any shortcuts that will deliver me lasting results, so I won't let the numbers derail me, or my moods to get in the way of even the smallest progress. I am a lazy perfectionist that can't stop multitasking. Meal planning is my biggest struggle along with sleeping enough (typically I get about 3-4 hours a day). The past year I've been struggling with burnout, its just been work and stress and neglecting my self. Losing track of days, weeks, months. I will do better this year.
My plan is to get back to exercising daily, even if just 30 minutes on days I'm struggling. And to walk daily 8-10k steps. Meal planning and tracking. Drinking more water. And most importantly, sleeping sufficiently. Feels like a lot at once for me, so one day at a time.

In the past, I have used the New Year as my starting point and came out blazing for the first few weeks. My weight-loss plan for 2024 started back in Sep 2023. So, even though my weight loss for this year seems slower than past attempts, I believe I will have better results than my broken New Year Resolutions of the past.
That said, "Talk is Cheap". Results are what counts, and I plan on using this group to help me be accountable for the coming year. I hope to see you all here each week as we approach our healthy goals.

My goal for 2024: to gradually lose the weight by changing the habits that hurt me and to learn how to integrate and maintain healthy eating habits for good.
My goals for this month:
* continue my exercise routine- which has been pretty good
* eliminate evening snacking- which is my downfall
* weigh every day- which I avoid and then gain
* log in here every week on Monday so I can't pretend the weekend is "free"!
Week 1
Starting weight: 146.5
Goal weight: around/under 142

Good start- eating healthfully, weighing every day and tracking carefully. I know that there will be bumps, but I'm here for the year.5 -
Hello! I'm in my early 40s, and I live in the Northeastern USA. I've gained quite a bit of weight over the past few years, and I'd like to turn that trend around before it causes me any serious health problems. My primary goals for 2024 are to recover from a chronic injury and get back to a healthy (or at least healthier) weight by losing an average of 1-2 pounds per week.

I was pretty flexible in week 1, with calorie deficits ranging from 295 to 865 per day, and averaging 670 per day. Math/science suggests that's enough to result in about 1.34 pounds of fat loss, so I'm sure most of my loss this week was just my body flushing out water. I expect the progress on the scale to slow down considerably from here.5 -

01/08-179.8-(Trend Weight: 181.2)- I had quite the overnight whoosh. I shed a lot of water most of the day yesterday (for whatever unknown reason) and I finally had TMI (in the middle of the night) last night, all of which graced the scale this morning. It’s encouraging and just goes to show that we must be patient with our bodies and our results. If we keep up our good habits, it will show up on the scale and on the tape measure in due time.
